Any clue, how i can add a mail account to apple mail app, but with separate password / pin to open it.
Years ago there was a program called mail switcher which added this functionality, but thats gone.
    cheers
    Tom

They would have to be logged in as separate users in order not to see your account in Mail. Whatever accounts put in Mail under your account will show up. All mail accounts usually have there own user and password. The only thing you can do is to remove the password from Keychain and take the account offline so you don't keep getting prompts for passwords each time it checks for mail.
    Not a great solution.
Best way is to give the other user their own user account with their own mail and enable fast user swithcing to log between the different users if all access the computer frequently.

Not normal. Take it (iPad, cable & charger) to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Im an engineering student, what is the best stylus pen should i use ?

im studying in a college . i wanted to use a stylus pen for my ipad air, which stylus pen is the best for taking notes ??

In my experience, the same stylii work well with the Air that worked with my iPad 3 and my iPad 2. You shouldn't have to press hard with any stylus. Stylii are a matter of personal preference. You will get as many suggestions as you get people replying to this thread.
I currently use three. An Adonit Jot Pro, a Pencil by Fifty-Three (mostly for drawing) and an Adonit Jot Script Evernote Edition. I have a collection of cheap Griffin stylii that as well. They work fine and are good to be able to lend to others.
    Best of luck.

  • What is the best stylus pen for the iPad Air?

Wondering which stylus pen to get for the iPad Air that's best for writing, and that you don't have to press too hard to use. Simply a stylus that works well with the "iPad Air" specifically. So far since I have been reading I haven't heard much good reviews about a stylus pen working well with the iPad Air

  • Stylus Pen Problem - Touchsmart TM2-1070US

    Hello Everybody.
My Windows 7 64 Bit Touchsmart crashed some time ago and i successfully fixed the system, it needed a new hard drive.
Everything on the notebook is fine except the stylus pen. The screen responds to my finger touch but does not respond to the pen at all.
I purchased a genuine replacement HP stulys pen, same problem!
I checked device manager and no problems.
I don't think these pens carries batteries because i am not seeing anything to unscrew or maybe I am wrong?
Am i missing a driver for the pen itself?
    Help needed!
    Thank you.

Hello Honourable, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your having an issue with the stylus working as a source of touch for your notebook. I will try to assist you with this.
I would like to start by providing you this document:
HP TouchSmart PCs - Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 7.
You can try unchecking the box for "Use your finger as an input device" that may allow you to use the stylus. If not recheck it.
After that skip down to this section :A touch occurs next to the point touched, not at the point of touch, and follow the document it leads to on Calibrating the Screen.
Then if need go back and complete the other steps.
You may also need a wider tip on the stylus. It is based on the surface of whats being used to touch.
Let me know how this goes.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Bamboo stylus/pen fails on iPad Air

my Bamboo stylus/pen works with my iPad 1 but barely works with the iPad Air.  What's up with that?  I tried it on a few drawing apps but it no luck.

I have tried 3 rubber-tipped styuses without success. Both with and without the screen protector, they just didn't want to work with the Air. Made some calls to makers of the current note-taking apps. They say that it is due to change in the design of the screen. Seems that this is such a problem that there are at least four new designs in route to market. Three were shown at the recent CES.
Adonit make a new thin tip pen called the 'Jot Script.' I have been unable to find one in Phoenix to see if it works and how well.
The new PENCIL from 53, the makers of the app Paper, have begun shipping a new low-power bluetooth stylus (for $49+) which looks impressive in the videos on Youtube.
The new Creative Pen by Wacom for $100 is to steep for me. Its Bluetooth also.
Apple Support pretends to be unaware of the problem. Further, they don't appear to be helping with the issue. My daughter is heading back to Grad School and I was going to buy her an Air for note-taking. At present, it appears if it is safer to buy an iPad 2.

  • I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time  Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on  what other external disks Apple could recommend to use with the Time Machine and  how to configure that disk

I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time
Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on
    what other
external disks Apple could recommend to use with the Time Machine and
    how to configure that disk.
A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
    the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas  series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

  • Guess what I replied to Apple's Survey (no word changed except name) ?

    Hello everybody,
Here's what I told to Apple today. My issue is about fsck command.
There's no need to read all,
and any part of text judged inappropriate (and I apologize) is removable.
    "Dear Apple Teams,
I have to repeat you that I'd appreciate very much (and I'm not alone) the creation of an AppleCare site who would provide precise answers to precise issues (Apple Advisors don't go on discussions.apple.com), and where you could also join screen captures to explain your remarks a better way.
My problem with Apple Assistance is that I (first) have to talk to a first-level advisor (last one was at Bengalore), who always has to redirect me to Ireland (Cork, I believe), so I can talk to high-level Advisors like Jonathan, Thomas, Stephan etc.
And how much does it cost, instead sending you an e-mail ?
I received my new MacBook Pro 17" last Wednesday, and surely will buy a Protection Plan for this new machine (I gave my 15" to my wife). I'll also increase my MobileMe storing space, but I will do this so that people (with a given password) can access my Public Folder, and download from it 10 GB (maximum) that I can't send them by e-mail. BUT I don't know actually HOW MUCH I'm able to upload.
One remark : As usual, and that's not fair, my warranty starts at the DOP (Date of Purchase), and NOT at delivery date, so I loose there obviously the warranty days between purchase and delivery.
Another remark : When receiving the product, I first thought you had forgotten the DVDs. In fact, they where in (poor and cheap) plastic sleeves, hided inside one of the two little white books.
The 13" MacBook Pro is delivered with DVDs in fair, strong, white quadrichromic color printed separate sleeves. How do you explain that ?
Third remark : Why is there no "anti-reflet" treatment customizable for the 13" ?
Fourth remark : Why are customizable additional memory (8 GB) and correct (7200 rpm) internal hard drive so expensive ? Why, doing so, are you loosing so much money ?
Fifth remark (excuse me, but you say you are interested) : Guess the date of your documentation about BOOTCAMP ? Do you think it's compatible with Apple's leadership (in anything) ?
Last remark : Why can Windows (I hate Bill) users have access to USB 3.0 since already month(s) ?
Do you know that I bought a 17" ONLY because you have kept on this product the ExpressCard/34 slot ? I now have a Sonnet card in it, with two eSata ports (but I have 5 eSata drives) … Why don't you have eSATA ports (at least one) on your beautiful laptops ?
My problem actually (I also have a problem with the 17" Install DVD) is to repair 3 disks with fsck command, as the filesystems are damaged. I phoned Apple Assistance Saturday, for about 30 minutes, but finally the Advisor sent me a link to one of your thousands (and sometimes obsolete) articles, and the solution wasn't there entirely.
I'll describe you the problem, but you won't, as usual, answer me, like people who receive my detailed crash reports and never tell me anything (even one poor single line).
One of the external disks (4TB data) I talk about doesn't appear after Startup, but when I use the Install DVD and Disk Utility, the application tells me it's OK, that the disk "SEEMS" to be alright etc. That's false.
When I reboot with Cmd + S (root level), and tell Terminal (I have been obliged to print the four states of an American Extended keyboard) :
    "sudo fsck -fy /dev/disk4s1"
    Reply :
"BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG
    LOOK FOR ALTERNATE SUPERBLOCKS? yes
SEARCH FOR ALTERNATE SUPER-BLOCK FAILED. YOU MUST USE THE
-b OPTION TO FSCK TO SPECIFY THE LOCATION OF AN ALTERNATE
SUPER-BLOCK TO SUPPLY NEEDED INFORMATION; SEE fsck(8)."
So, I use the -b option of fsck command, and :
"fsck: -b flag requires a number"
"-b size Specify the size, in bytes, of the physical blocks used by
    the -B option."
So, I'm searching since 3 days the info command to know what sector address I have to tell -b to install an alternate superblock, because I need to know exactly at which places filesystems and data start and end.
You understand, I suppose, that I can't use any of my softwares, because the disk is INVISIBLE (doesn't exist). It's not MOUNTED nor UNMOUNTED.
If you can transmit what I say to someone who has the solution (and is able to send it to me), thank you very much in advance !
Any sign of life, anyway, would be greatly appreciated …
    With my best regards
    Vialatte
    END OF MESSAGE

    I apologize having posted this,
and I have restricted the text to the question I had to post, finding that way to do more appropriate. Apple Customer Survey and my answers to it had indeed nothing to do there.
Let's say it was a mistake, due to my bad humor about AppleCare.
    Best regards to all

  • "Failed to open midi support library". What is missing? And if so, how do I get it back? What to do?

I own a new Macbook pro 15" quadcore with OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4
When trying to start software Reason 7 I only get the message "Failed to open midi support library".
What is missing? And if so, how do I get it back? Reinstalling Mountain Lion did not solve anything.
What may I do? Is there separate MIDI-drivers or else that Macbook needs to be running audio at all?
My audiocard Apogee Duet 2 is´nt working well either and I cannot even open the MIDI-window in Mac,
so that road is blocked. I´ve seen more ppl having problem but found no explaination.
Some say to remove midi-drivers but that folder is empty (or hidden?) when opening.
Also, Garage Band cannot open. It´s no problem with graphic apps, only with audio/midi.
My 2011 Macbook pro13" with OS X Lion runs like a charm. So how can this be? It really puzzles my mind.
Have thoughts on having OS X Lion on the new Mac as well but will not do it until I know where the real problem is.
Hope there is an easy fix to it. Thanks in advance.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • What is it about Apple???

I realize that this question may not belong in this discussion forum and if someone knows about any other forum that is more suitable for this types of questions I would be very grateful if you could give me the name/link to the forum.
I am currently doing research for an article regarding brands and customer loyalty and after reading through a great number of articles, news releases, blogs, etc. I realize that the customers of Apple are not like other customers. They are probably some of the most loyal people I've ever read about. No matter what mistakes Apple may make, the customers are always there to support them and every time someone says something bad about the company, there are always one or more Apple-enthusiasts that steps forward to defend the brand. As a person who do not own any Apple products, I'm having a hard time understanding this extreme loyalty and I therefore need to ask: what is it about Apple that is so great? Is it just the great products that make the customers so loyal or is it something more than that?
I'd be extremely grateful for any replies I may get.

    Ckristof wrote:

Ckristof ~ In this _1995 interview_, Steve Jobs explains the type of creative people behind the original Mac. And at the end of the quote below, Jobs reveals something special those people put into Apple's products — and presumably still do. ...Could it be that which is the +"something more"+ ? ... Could it be that which indirectly makes Apple's customers so loyal without them really understanding why?
    Interviewer:
And the artistry is in the elegance of the solution, like chess playing or mathematics?
    Steve Jobs:
No. I think the artistry is in having an insight into what one sees around them. Generally putting things together in a way no one else has before and finding a way to express that to other people who don't have that insight so they can get some of the advantage of that insight that makes them feel a certain way or allows them to do a certain thing. I think that a lot of the folks on the Macintosh team were capable of doing that and did exactly that.
If you study these people a little bit more what you'll find is that in this particular time, in the 70's and the 80's the best people in computers would have normally been poets and writers and musicians. Almost all of them were musicians. Alot of them were poets on the side. They went into computers because it was so compelling. It was fresh and new. It was a new medium of expression for their creative talents. The feelings and the passion that people put into it were completely indistinguishable from a poet or a painter. Many of the people were introspective, inward people who expressed how they felt about other people or the rest of humanity in general into their work, work that other people would use. People put a lot of love into these products, and a lot of expression of their appreciation came to these things. It's hard to explain.
