Stylus rmx and logic studio 8

i need help asap pleasseee...i am using 8 tracks multi timbral for stylus rmx...and everything is good but there is one problem, anytime i do anything to one track it does it to the other...for example: if i mute one of the tracks then it mutes all of them....i want to have full control of each individuak channel....does anybody no the solution for this...thanx

Yes creating the RMX as a multi is the best solution. Depending on how you are using RMX, a multi may be the best solution.
A work around is to create a stereo RMX and make several copies of it.
As you work with RMX on each of its channels, drag the midi file from RMX to an empty Logic RMX slot. If you open the event list to the right of arrange, you will see, that each corresponding channel from the RMX, is on a different midi channel. So although all your several tracks of RMX are the same, (make sure RMX is set to ALL channel), each individual track on the arrange pages is sending on a different midi channel
So if you want to isolate one channel, to edit or to mix one individual part out - mute the others out either on the RMX. or Highlight the REGIONS on the arrange page and mute them. Do not mute module or you will get no sound..
You do get fuller control if you set up a multi channel instance of RMX (say you want to eq, and compress each track of RMX individuallly in Logic) - but you have to go an extra step to turn each individual track into seperate audio, so sometimes the above is easier
Remember that RMX has it's own EFX plug-in for each channel also - so you may not neccessarily have to use Logic's.

Hi Everyone and forgive me for this ancient question but.. . .I have just spent an agonizing three days rebuilding my hard drive after the new Mac upgrade totally trahsed mine (and apparrently a lot of other people's as well). I'm not at home and therefore the restore disc is unavailable so I'm having to do it all by hand, so to speak.
Here's my question: Could someone walk me through setting up Stylus as a Multi-Timbral Instrument again? What's happening now is that, when I go to 'Create New Instrument/Multi-Timbral/8' I'm getting 8 tracks but they're all connected (i.e. you move one fader and they all move). Secondly, my old set up had MIDI tracks where (what seem to be) audio tracks are. I've tried to approach this from every possible angle, but still no luck. If I can't get MIDI tracks to appear on the Arrange Page, how can I insert the MIDI file from Stylus that I want to use?
OK, thanks for your help and please, do not, under any circumstances install the new upgrade!!! The forums are crammed with people who've had the same problem I had. Cheers, John

    John,
I'm just learning about RMX and Omnisphere and believe I ran across your answer while studying some tutorials.  The screen shot below is from a RMX/Logic tutorial on Spectrasonics website: http://spectrasonics.net/products/stylusrmx-videos.php?p=4&f=&q=&InstrumentID=3& VideoTypeID=3 (it's an imbedded video towards the bottom of the page titled; Stylus RMX Tutorial RMX and Logic)
The video is based on Logic 7 and RMX 1.5, but still provide the basics for you to reset RMX as a Multi-Timbre instrument.  Cheers!

    Hello,
I'm using stylus rmx with LE. I'm stuck. I'm tryin to create a "multi-track", (I believe thats what its called). Right now I'm following a instructional dvd and the instructor just wire 8 tracks to 1 in the enviro window. So I followed and drew all the wires to the 8 inputs. Then back in the arrange window, (and heres where I get lost). He fella goes to the "track" option and selects " create with new instrument". Now he creates * tracks from the 1 pug in. I'm assuming that he's using Logic Pro because I dont have that option. Is there another way to acheive this without that option ?

This doesn't sound right. You should be creating a multi-instrument in the Environment with 8 channels enabled, not 8 individual instruments. There only needs to be one multi-instrument assigned to a single instrument track (one wire) in the environment. Make sure to assign the midi channel to "all" for the instrument object, but enable the first 8 channels on the multi-instrument object.
Then, when you're back in the Arrange page, you can create a new instrument track for the Stylus L/R audio output and then create new midi tracks assigned as sub-channels to Stylus. Each sub-channel will then control a different part in Stylus.
There is a Quicktime video you can download for free from Spectrasonics that walks you through setting up Stylus in Logic. Maybe your DVD makes it harder than it needs to be...

  • Stylus RMX and Logic - reconnecting sounds

I was running out of space on my main HD so I moved my STYLUS RMX to an external drive.
Problem is, now ALL my LOGIC songs don't "see" that I've moved the sound files for RMX> Is there a way to "teach" the computer that I've moved the files to a new place?
Like there is in Final Cut Pro -is there a way to "reconnect media" so that Logic understands and recognizes the new path??
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Stylus rmx and logic

just got stylus rmx. I want to use rmx like I do BFD as a multi with auxes. does anyone know if it works the same way as BFD as far as configuration to seperate the sounds (kick, snare etc.) i watched the video but it seemed to focus more on rmx as a stereo plug.

    In exactly the same way.
The Logic setup tutorial videos on your Stylus RMX disks describe and show you the process in full.
Insert RMX as a multi channel instrument, set up your auxes to take the extra RMX outputs, then route whatever parts, sounds, edit groups etc to whichever RMX outputs you wish.

    Hey,
I believe there's an Universal update on that version you have, that can not be only for Intel, take a peak at Logic Pro Forum the guys have been posting on RMX yesterday.

  • Apogee ensemble and logic studio

I got a new apple desktop pro quad 2.66 and Logic Studio.
I have been using a Motu 828mk11 and logic 7 pro.
I was considering using the Apogee Ensemble and was wondering if anyone using Studio has any luck with Ensemble and if they think the switch would be worth the investment.
I also Use an API A2D preamp with the digital outs.....any news on how that might work with Ensemble?
anyway, just a note, if anyone cares, the UAD Nevana X2 works really tightly with Logic Studio and its WORTH the purchase price. amazing.

If you use outboard gear for mix and processing i.e you route out your Software Instruments thru some of the Apogee outputs (analog/optical or digital), process them using some external analog or DSP processors and route back the processed sound to the Apogee Inputs ( i.e Logic Mix track ), then the mix may be different, rather than the Logic native Bounce.
If you use Logic bounce, then Apogee is just a monitoring device as was mentioned before. I agree if you have several devices and play same (previously) bounced Logic audio file thru the different devices they may sound different - this the test the audio engineers make in the laboratories.
Personally I own several devices and I prefer to use one for final mix monitoring (which is most "true" not "sweet or pumped"), some for recording, other for internal DSP processing, depends on the situation...

  • A templete for logic 9 with stylus rmx and omnisphere

Hello, Is there anyone who can create a templete in logic 9 which would allow me to use stylue rmx and omnisphere in multi mode?
I am having a bit of a problem...
    Thanks

Yes there is a possibility that I am confused.. I did get omnisphere working fine...now I am trying to add rmx so I can create a templete to start my projects from.
I watched the tutorial, I followed it step by step. maybe it is the layout of logic 9..let me ask you, im rmx, do i chose stereo or multi timbral? Also in the tutorial tells you to in the arrange page to click and hold instrument two after you create the 8 tracks, then chose audio>audio instrument>rmx unless i am missing something, you cannot click nad hold in logic 9? Any how, you can make a tutorial?

  • Difference between Logic Pro 9 and Logic Studio?

I have garage band and I notice that the instruments available are extremely limited, so I am looking to upgrade solely for the idea of getting more instruments and more features. Does the app store Logic Pro 9 have the extensive amount of official instruments to download for free? Or are there additional costs if you are looking to purchase the instruments for the app store logic 9?
I know that the studio version has mainstage, compressor and other programs etc, but what I am looking to find out is if there is a difference between what instruments, resources and materials found in the $210 Logic 9 and the Logic Studio version that you can't download for free from inside Logic 9?
    Thanks

The instruments themselves are embedded within the Logic application, with the exception of the sample libraries for the EXS24 and Ultrabeat. All of the content, including the various Jampacks and sample libraries are available to download

    No.... free

The "Studio" DVD's include the now defunct Soundtrack Pro, which had around 20G of loops, beds and sound FX. Some of that material is now available for Final Cut X.
A few utility programs are also missing (Waveburner etc).

  • How to run Pro Tools 7.4 LE and Logic Studio 8.0.2, simultaneously..

My setup: single Quad Core 2.8GHz 8GB of RAM, running Logic Studio 8.0.2 (projectmix)
Single 1.8 GHz G5 running Pro Tools LE 7.4 (digi 002 rack)
I want to set up Logic (as master) as my main sequencer, to run Pro Tools for audio.
    What's the best setup?
    1. Midi the two interfaces together, sync by MTC, or Midi Clock….if so, what are the settings, as I had an unsuccesful run at it using MTC...
    or
    2. Run both programs on my Quad Core - is there a way to have Logic run Pro Tools on the same machine - with two different interfaces on separate firewire ports?
    Any info would be appreciative.
    Thanks

    I did the following:
Set up the audio output for the Logic to be the internal sound card, and hook up this via Digital lightpipe to the Digi002 rack lightpipe inputs, set them to SPDIF in the hardware setup page. You'll need a special adaptor to go out of the headphone outs of your mac to turnit into digital signal. Check your Mac's manual for that.
Then set up an IAC buss for the midi, inside the AudioMidiSetup software, and tell ProTools to send MTC to this IAC buss, while telling Logic to receive MTC via the same IAC buss. Make SURE you ahve the same exact SMPTE and MTC flavor on both amchnes, and also the right sample rate (match it on both)
Then, set an Aux input in ProTools Le to accept the incoming SPDIF stereo signal from Logic, press play, and they both now synch perfectly.
    Cheers

  • Any differences in LP8 and Logic Studio..?

Hi Everybody: Now that I´ve started to understand that it will be the best for me learning the new Logic, in order to keep working....I wonder if I am in the Logic Pro 8 or Logic Studio domain....?
I am a Logic user since version 2.7 , I had the upgrades made on time too. But now, after I´ve pay $499 for this new stuff, coming from LP7....There is a little shadow in my mind...
I know it is too late, but I would like to know if there are any differences between them (I mean, LP8 vs. Logic Studio).
    Thanks in advance

Well, Thanks you both. That´s what I though but since there are two discussions that point toward those two names, I desided to consult the experts.
I´ll keep trying to learn how to keep my work flow on those new windows and screensets.
    Thanks a lot.

  • 10.6.3 and Logic Studio

Will Logic Studio work fine over OS-X 10.6.3 ? How about Final Cut Studio? I'm in the process of buying these two titles for my mackbook pro which is already upgraded to 10.6.3 but I don't want to waste my money if it won't work...

Of course I've tried them both. I only comment on things I have tried myself. That way I avoid as much as possible sticking my foot in my mouth and wiggling my toes

  • Novation 47SL MKII and Logic Studio

I use a Novation 47MKII midi controller and I keep getting this error when going into Logic Studio 9 after working in Live 8. Any ideas why this would happen?
“Device “HUI” is assigned to MIDI Port “Automap HUI” which is not present.
Please ensure that all MIDI interfaces are connected and switched on. If this is the case, please check the MIDI port setting of device “HUI”. If this is correct, click “Reset All MIDI Drivers” in Preferences > MIDI > General."

I have the same issue with my ReMOTE ZeRO SL and have not been able to figure out how to have it keep the configuration. The setup guide works fine, but it doesn't maintain the MIDI configuration and I need to re-enter the environment settings each time I setup the system.
