Stylus RMX - importing your own sounds?

After buying Stylus RMX I was disappointed to learn that I need ReCycle in order to import my own sounds/loops.
Does anybody know of a way to do this without using ReCycle?
Thanks.

recycle doesn't cost much and its the best way to convert all your samples
if you ask me its better than using apple loops utility to convert your audio to apple loops
pay a little for the best or use a free apple loops utility for a standard loops
stash
i guarantee you won't be disappointed

  • Import your own pictures/icon in logic?

    Hi,
I was just wondering if it's possible to import your own pictures, e.g synth pics, into logic so that you can select them as the icon for that track?
On the left hand side where you can change the icon of each track, if you click-hold on the icon it gives you a lot of icons to choose, but i'd like to use a few of my own.
thanks for any help and advice,

Have you looked in the manual (search for ICON)?

  • Stylus RMX and Logic - reconnecting sounds

I was running out of space on my main HD so I moved my STYLUS RMX to an external drive.
Problem is, now ALL my LOGIC songs don't "see" that I've moved the sound files for RMX> Is there a way to "teach" the computer that I've moved the files to a new place?
Like there is in Final Cut Pro -is there a way to "reconnect media" so that Logic understands and recognizes the new path??
    PLEASE HELP!

Yes creating the RMX as a multi is the best solution. Depending on how you are using RMX, a multi may be the best solution.
A work around is to create a stereo RMX and make several copies of it.
As you work with RMX on each of its channels, drag the midi file from RMX to an empty Logic RMX slot. If you open the event list to the right of arrange, you will see, that each corresponding channel from the RMX, is on a different midi channel. So although all your several tracks of RMX are the same, (make sure RMX is set to ALL channel), each individual track on the arrange pages is sending on a different midi channel
So if you want to isolate one channel, to edit or to mix one individual part out - mute the others out either on the RMX. or Highlight the REGIONS on the arrange page and mute them. Do not mute module or you will get no sound..
You do get fuller control if you set up a multi channel instance of RMX (say you want to eq, and compress each track of RMX individuallly in Logic) - but you have to go an extra step to turn each individual track into seperate audio, so sometimes the above is easier
Remember that RMX has it's own EFX plug-in for each channel also - so you may not neccessarily have to use Logic's.

  • Is it possible to import your own wave files into the EXS-24?

I have been wondering if it is possible to create your own samples and import them into the EXS-24.
I just created some short wave files of a voice and want to recall them whenever I need them. Is that possible? And if yes? How exactly?
    Thanks!

Sure, open an empty patch in EXS, hit the edit button and drag the wavs from your finder into the sample zone, a menue will show up asking you what samples to map to which keys. Read the manual about the EXS, it sure helps...

Ok so I want to know if it is possible in Garageband to assign the musical typing to your own sounds? For example, I imported a kick and a snare and I want to trigger both the kick and the snare over a sample to make a complete beat.

  • How do I make my own sounds and put them on a Midi controller?

I want to be able to make my own sounds and program then into my midi controller.
Is this possible? If so How do I go about doing it?

Hey man, am I right in thinking you want to make your own sounds entirely and then map them so that they can be triggered to play by your midi controller? If so, the method I'm thinking is you're going to have to start coding. The program PureData http://puredata.info/ is a good place to start, it's free and there are a lot of online tutorials if you can be bothered looking, but you'll have to put in the effort of learning how to code it properly. This might be worth it if what you are asking is what I'm thinking you're asking. Otherwise, you'll have to make do with the sounds that Logic Express can create, which isn't exactly a limited set... Hope this helps.

  • Is there any way to import my OWN DVD movies into iTunes and my video iPod?

I just purchased the new 30 GB video iPod last week, and although I have already purchased a few movies from the iTunes store, I wanted to know if there was a way to import a DVD movie from my own DVD library like we can with our own music CDs?
    Thanks,

"That's too bad, because these are movies (DVDs) that I own and have purchased legally myself. How is that different from importing your own purchased CDs into iTunes? Seems like a double standard to me."
About "legally owning" the DVDs - Yes, I understand, and I'm figuring that most folks who want to put their DVDs onto their iPod are owning the movies legally (or, at least, it appears so).
That's not really the issue here, though.
The problem is, there is an encryption that is written onto regular, copyrighted DVDs (i.e., movies). In order to get that onto your iPod, you will have to use software on your computer that breaks that encryption, and makes the file into some more "normal" format, like say, MP4.
This action can arguably be considered as illegal, in a sense, since you are removing the encryption that's on DVD, which is protecting it from being easily copied, and transferred around. (which would be illegal).
This is a bit different than CDs, since, although they are copyrighted too, the songs are usually not in a protected format.
If you have a song that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, and you want to break into that "protected" file format, that's the same kind of issue as the DVD ripping.
(Notice that the Hosts included that into the ADUA as well, right along with DVD ripping.)
...It's quite an interesting kind of subject, isn't it?

  • Can you import a DVD of your own into iTunes?

I know you can choose from a very limited selection of films from the iTunes music store, but can you import one of your own films in the same way you import a CD and keep it on iTunes? And, of course, how would one go about doing this? When I insert a DVD, immediately Windows asks which program you want to play it in, and iTunes is not one of those programs.

I would suggest you "google" video iPod converter or do a search of the "using 5G iPod" forum where this subject has been discussed literally hundreds of times.

I assume you're referring to the Add-On Compatibility Checker disabling your extensions when you update?
To disable Add-On Compatibility Checking you can follow the following steps:
    1) Enter "about:config" into the URL bar (no quotes)
    2) Right click and create a New Boolean
    3) Name it: extensions.checkCompatibility
    4) Set it to: False
You can now restart Firefox and it will no longer disable your addons.
Keep in mind that without the Compatibility Checker Firefox can't guarantee that your extensions will work with the latest versions.

    Hi
Sounds like you may have moved the RMX library folder?
Is RMX fully updated (for Lion)?
Check your hard drives for a file called SAGE:
It (or an alias of it) is normally found in the <USER>:Library:Application Support:Spectrasonics.
Note that on Lion, the <User> Library is 'hidden'... quickest way to get there is to hold down Option (Alt) whilst using the Finder:Go menu

  • Odd Multi-Channel Leakage with Stylus RMX...help please

Ok, so I've been to the Stylus site, I got the nice little pdf explanation of how to set up a Stylus as a multi-instrument, works like a charm, but then I went to set up my multi-channel set up so that I can add some Logic plugs to individual Stylus elements and heres what happens:
I have 4 elements going in one Stylus instrument, each has it's own track on the arrange now, but I want to get it to aux's so I've sent Djembe's which is the first element out B of the Stylus mixer which translates to Stylus RMX 3/4, no problems so far. Until I play back. When I play the Djembes back I notice this. That almost all of the Djembe slices are playing through Aux 1 (which is receiving B from Stylus as Stylus RMX 3/4), but not all of the slices, some in fact are still playing through the Audio Instrument track. This is not good, as it means I don't get the desired affect of being able to effect each element individually. Has this happened to anyone else, am I missing something blatantly obvious? Pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, as always, thanks in advance,
    Graham
ps - the Djembe element was just an example this problem is occuring in all situations where I've tried to set up a multi-channel Stylus arrangment

    Hi Jim,
you were 100% correct, I'd been fiddling with the edit groups while I was watching the video on edit groups to get a feel for it, and see how it works, it's an amazing tool.
However, here is another follow up question, it seems that although now I've gone through my settings and made sure that each element is sending to A, B, C or D respectively, the Aux's ie delay or flange, on appears on the original instrument track (out A). I've gone over and over this in the edit groups and they are all selected to send to B, C, or D only, but the effects seem to default to A and I can't figure out for the life of me where I can change that. Any ideas on this one. It works like a charm right now until I add stylus effects to the elements then it gets a bit messed up again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, you get points for your last reply! Cheers,
    Graham

  • Stylus RMX and Logic Express

    Hello,
I'm using stylus rmx with LE. I'm stuck. I'm tryin to create a "multi-track", (I believe thats what its called). Right now I'm following a instructional dvd and the instructor just wire 8 tracks to 1 in the enviro window. So I followed and drew all the wires to the 8 inputs. Then back in the arrange window, (and heres where I get lost). He fella goes to the "track" option and selects " create with new instrument". Now he creates * tracks from the 1 pug in. I'm assuming that he's using Logic Pro because I dont have that option. Is there another way to acheive this without that option ?

This doesn't sound right. You should be creating a multi-instrument in the Environment with 8 channels enabled, not 8 individual instruments. There only needs to be one multi-instrument assigned to a single instrument track (one wire) in the environment. Make sure to assign the midi channel to "all" for the instrument object, but enable the first 8 channels on the multi-instrument object.
Then, when you're back in the Arrange page, you can create a new instrument track for the Stylus L/R audio output and then create new midi tracks assigned as sub-channels to Stylus. Each sub-channel will then control a different part in Stylus.
There is a Quicktime video you can download for free from Spectrasonics that walks you through setting up Stylus in Logic. Maybe your DVD makes it harder than it needs to be...

  • Help with Stylus RMX please

    Hi!
    Please tell me somebody
    How use RMX in Logic?
I open it on Instrument tr1 - for use chanel 1
Then ,assign Instr 2 to 1 and change MIDI chanel to 2
But when i play (hat for exmpl),sounds like double with chorus
    What i do wrong?
And i cant see RMX outputs in mixer (of course i open it as multitrack)
    Please HELP!

This is explained, step by step, in the "Using Stylus RMX in Logic" tutorial video on your Stylus DVD, and it's easier watching someone do it on screen than type it out here step by step.
In short, create a multi-instrument, cable it to your audio instrument that contains RMX, and access channels 1 to 8 using the multi subinstruments.
    Now go watch the tutorial
