Sub-report formatting Question

New(ish) to Crystal, running XI and enjoying it.
I have a simple landscape report showing the last 7 days summary of jobs from a database that records our daily production, and it simply reports 12 fields across the page, and has 2 groups - date and job name (for drill-down detail).  It also has 6 stats charts.  I have a drill-down set up, but is there any way of NOT reporducing the row of original data across the top of the drill-down page so I can display it portrait as a detailed view?  I will be adding a number of calculated fields and detailed charts as well, but it looks a bit naff at the moment.  I've tried sub-reports, drills-down etc, but it's not right.  Am I missing something?

I did wonder about that.  Will just have to live with it.
Can I open a sub-report as a completely seperate report with totally different formatting as opposed to a drill-down section?  It's just that having a single row of data 5mm from the top of the page is REALLY irritating and I want to put it into the main body of the sub-rpt.

    Using Crystal Reports 8.5 -
    I have report in which the main report shows the customers orders that are ready to ship. In this main report I have a subreport in which it shows customers that are on hold for shipping. How would I go about linking the two reports so that if a customer shows on the subreport then it should not show on the main report. Or I just need to highlight the customer on the main report somehow. Thanks for any feedback on this issue.

  • Crystal XI report formatting question

    I have a report specification where is data arranged in twelve months - Two rows of six months... Looks like two excel spreadsheets printed on the same landscape legal sized piece of paper.  There are three levels of drill down.  The twelve section headings and structure line remain on the report, but the monthly data populates only when there is data for that month, otherwise the data elements are supressed.
    The problem is using the two rows of six months....I have the first level detail displaying correctly by having the first six months of data in the main report and a subreport in the report footer.  I need the drill down to work on both the report and subreport for all three drilldown levels.  My understanding is that the drill down for the subreport will only go one level?
    I there some way to have the report twelve months wide and have a horizontal page break or wrap (at six months) to create the second six months below?
    Any other formatting ideas for this one?
    I am using Crystal XI
    Thanks

    Have you considered a cross-tab sized to only show the first six months on one page?  Or manually storing values to display into one or more arrays and hard coding the desired format?

    Who is also thinking you could group by a formula that divides your records into one of two six month periods...

  • Sub report question

    Hi Guru:
    I created two BW report from the query, say A and B.
    In A, I include B as a sub report.
    I could preview in in crystal report 2008.
    However, after I include B, I could not use the Save function in SAP menu, it will return an error code 6 says there is error when try to open the report.
    But I could use the Save button under the File menu and save it on the enterprise.
    Any idea about this?
    Thanks.
    Eric

    Hi,
    are you trying to insert a subreport basd on an existing report or a new subreport with the wizard ?
    it is correct the SAP toolbar is not there but you should be able to go to the list of data sources and find the entry called SAP BW MDX driver which gives you access to the queries

  • How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

    I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem.  I have a main report and then 8 sub reports.  My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number.  One
    of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf.  My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value.  The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
    and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
    So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts.  If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
    for all the accounts requested visible at once:
    =IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
    *The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD  is different for each sub report.
    Here is a look at what the main report look like:
    Here is the main reports data set:

    Hi JasonDWilson77,
    According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
    to the following steps:
      1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
      2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
    =Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
      3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
    =IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
      4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
      5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

    7. Select the subreport name in the drop-down list.
    8. If the subreport contain parameters, you should move to the Parameter tab on the Subreport Properties dialog box, for this point you could refer to this link

  • Sub reports In Crystal reports XML as a data Source

    Hi,
    I am facing one problem related to Sub reports functionality in crystal reports as XML as a data Source. We are using CrystalReports XI for this.
    I was generated PDF's using crystal reports from ruby on rails, by using the JAVA API to produce the PDF by taking the XML,XSD,and RPT files as parameters. I  succeed in this case
    and the way we are communicating with JAVA API using  from my Ruby on Rails application by the following link.
    http://rorataspire.wordpress.com/2008/06/13/how-to-integrate-crystal-reports-with-ruby-on-rails/
    Right Now my problem is as follows.
    The problem with the sub reports generation from  crystal reports.  We had one main report file(RPT), In that we are using the Sub reports,for that sub reports need to parse the XML's and XSD's dynamically based on the report encountered on the main(RPT)file,but to send more than one XSD's and XML's dynamically  based on the  sub report, to the JAVA API from Ruby on Rails application I am not succeeded.  So as a result  PDF with the Dynamic data for Sub reports is not fulfill.
    Your help is appreciable, Thanks in advance.

    Is this a coding question or a data source format question?
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) in Visual FoxPro 9

    I use ActiveX from Crystal Report Developer XI for viewer in Visual FoxPro 9 and I already know how to show Main Report by using command:
    oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
    oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
    oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
    oRptView.ViewReport
    Inside the MyReport.rpt there is two subreport name :
    1. MySubReport1
    2. MySubReport2
    My Question is :
    How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) at the 1st time we call ViewReport?
    I try to using command :
    oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
    oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
    oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport1")
    oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport2")
    oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
    oRptView.ViewReport
    but only show Main Report (view tab name : Preview)?
    Did I miss any command before I call oRptView.ViewReport?

    Your right, there is only one tab to view the report.
    To open the subreports you will need to click on them in the main report. I don't know of a way to open them programmatically like you are doing here

  • On Demand Sub-Report not working

    Hello,
    I am using crystal reports xi-r2 I am having trouble getting an on-demand sub-report to work. After much trouble I am able to get the sub-report to work in the designer but as soon as I publish the report and access it from the CRS. It stops working. I can not get the sub-report to come up. Or it opens another window like it is going to show the sub-report but I get the original report again.
    My second question is how do I open a trouble ticket now that this has all moved to SAP?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jeff

    As this isn't working in CRS you may want to re-post this to:  BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration
    www.service.sap.com would be a good place to go to get service

  • Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

    Hi there,
    Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
    Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
    formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
    and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
    formula name=subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
    subIntRatePageCount;
    I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
    The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of  3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

    Also thanks Raghavendra, Asha,
    I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
    I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
    The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.
    Regards
    Robert.

  • Open an on demand sub report in a new window

    Hi There!
    While reading the forum threads, there is an thread that have the same issue that i want to find out, but the thread is not yet answered. Could you guys help me. Thanks!
    Thread by: Kylie Edwards
    Hi I am wondering if it is possible to open an on demand sub report in a new window.
    I have a report that has 6 level drill and I want to be able to close the information in the sub report to give the end user the ability to keep drilling.
    I have tried inserting a text box with a hyper link back to the main report but hyper links do not seem to work the subreport. "
    Thanks and Regards,
    Joni

    Hi all,
    Sorry for the late reply, and thank you guys for the helped. I manage to solve the problem myself
    To Falk:
    Ya you are right, for what i know,  Inforview is not possible to open a subreport from a RPT file in a new windows as well.
    To Wallie Cheng :
    When i posted the question for help, i just want to know if i could display a crystal report on a new window.
    My situation is that i have a page that is size 3in x 3in ( Just a small static graph ) and i wanna attached a A4 report. In order to have a nicer view at inforview ( 3in x 3in border box ), i will need to reduced the size of the crystal report. The size of the main report is now properly change, but it affects the view for the sub report ( As subreport is A4 size, the system display the A4 size document in a serveral 3in x 3in page. -_-"' ).
    To Abhishek:
    I wanna try out your solution, but i can't find the hyperlink tab in perference option ( in inforview ).
    I manage to solved my problem (suitation that i have explain to Wallie Cheng ). That is to created a hyperlink to the report. Rather than a subreport link.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Joni

  • Crystal Report Hyperlink to Sub-report or other report

    Hi,
    I would like to create a report on which the first part will show project summary page. The second part will have all project detail pages and third part with all project financial informations.
    The report should work in such a way whenever user clicks on any project at first summary page this has to jump to corresponding detail page of projects.
    I have the following question regarding design of this report.
    1. Do I need to create a saparate report as a sub report and then merge with main report in a footer section? Or is it ok to create sub-report within main report through sub-report wizard option?
    2. How can I establish hyperlink between the pages i.e. summary to detail pages?
    3. back hyperlink to first pages.
    I am expecting more information about hyperlink options within Crystal report.
    Thanks
    -Sunil Prasad

    Hi Sunil
    - For your first question: . Do I need to create a saparate report as a sub report and then merge with main report in a footer section? Or is it ok to create sub-report within main report through sub-report wizard option?
    You can create a separate report and then insert it as a subreport in the main report or create it with sub report wizard.
    Once you click on Insert -> Subreport, you can see there are two options, one is to point to an existing report and another is to create it through wizard.
    - 2. How can I establish hyperlink between the pages i.e. summary to detail pages?
    You can use the hyperlink between report objects.  Also you can apply a customized formula for this.
    Check the below SAP Notes:

  • Crystal report - sub report

    Hi everyone
    Can anybody help me with crystal report - sub report problem  as i am new to crystal report.
    I have created two reports"mainreport" and "subreport" using crysta report XI with the same query for both reports using stored procedure. I set the links for both reports at design time and its works fine there. then i added those two reports into my .net application and now i want to set the paramaters and also want to set the datasource  programatically with same query but with two different functions which returns datatable. I am using .visual studio 2008 (.net 3.5) and sql 2005 as back end.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance
    Regards,
    Shruti Batra

    Only CR 2008 (12.x) and CR 10.5 (bundles with .NET 2008) is supported with .NET 2008. And while running reports created in CR XI with CR 10.5 may work, you are taking your chances with parameterized reports as there have been a lot of changes in the parameter behavior between CR 10 and CR XI. Thus, my recommendation would be to upgrade to CR 2008, ensuring your version is 12.3.0.601.
