Sub Reports on only half a page

Hi
I have a report in a letter format. When this reports prints I want another report(letter) to print afterwards.
So...
I have added a sub report in the report footer of my 1st report. (new page before checked).
My problem is that when the second report prints it is split in two.
I have got all my page footers on the first report suppressed also supress blank sections.
I have checked page settings and every thing is printing with A4 and small margins.
I have stretched my Report Footer on the first report so that it is big enough to hold my 2nd report.
I have selected can grow on the report footer subreport object
Any help or suggestions will be gratefully recieved.
Thanks

Hi Jeanette,
As I understand you have a sub-report in the report footer. When it prints it is split in to two pages.
New page before is checked for the report footer of the main report.
In the section expert select the report footer and check the check box for Keep Together.
When this is checked all the lines will be kept together either on the current page (if there is room) or on the next page (if not).
Also suppress the page footer of the main report. Check the condition if it is suppressed conditionally.
Make sure there are no suppressed objects in the suppressed page footer
Suppress all the sections in the main and the subreport which are not required.

Aditya Joshi

  • SSRS subreport with a sub-report as header on all pages

    Hello,
    I need some guidance on how to get a sub-report with a sub-report header and an expanding table. Please see below.
    This is the structure of things that I have:
    Main Report 1 is being invoked by ONLY Parameter 1 (User Text Box Entry).
    It Contains:
         Page 1: Sub-Report 1 invoked by Parameter 1
         Page 2 or more Pages: Sub-report 2 and a table (T1) expanding vertically based on Parameter 1 and Parameter 2. The Sub-report 2 should appear as header on all pages where T1 rows are there. Additionally, multiple Parameter 2
    values may be present and if so, they need to appear on a different page with appropriate header/table data. Parameter 1 and 2 are associated with a ONE dataset & its fields.
         Last Page: Sub-Report 3 and few text boxes below it. Invoked by Parameter 1
    The issue is I don't know how to insert Page 2 content. I tried making a new report with Sub-report 2 and the T1 below it. This is working fine but I'm not able to get the sub-report as header on all pages EXCEPT the first page. FixedData and RepeatOnNewPage
    properties are TRUE & KEEPwithGroup is set to 'AFTER'. Also, once I'm done with this report how do I insert it in the main report. Would it be in group / outside group in the group properties -- I would really appreciate if you can guide me with steps.
    Thank you,
    Nichesl

    Thanks Asha ,
    Actually this is how my Report  layout is
    Group Header
    ---Detail1
    ---Detail2
    ---Detail3
    Group Footer1 (New Page After and Show at Bottom Setting)
    Group Footer 2 (New Page Before Setting)
    This is the layout of my report.
    When Details and Group Footer1 come in same page then my Group Header works perfect.
    When there are many details then the Group Footer1 skips into next page and Group Header does not show up in that page.
    Our requirement is such a way that Group Footer1 should have Group Header and Group Footer2 should always come in new page (i.e. last Page)
    I think I made it clear on my issue/requirement.
    Again I really appreciate for your reply.
    Regards

  • Why is only half the page printing

    i have a Deskjet f380 when i want to print a page, the preview shows only half the page. and it will only print half the page. i checked the setting and they seem to be fine, what gives?

    Suddenly my HP J5780 printer releases pages that gradually lose printing -- top of the page OK, middle weak, no bottom. What to do?

  • Why does Firefox display only half a page when system is coming out of a resolution change from a game?

    When I leave Firefox open in the background while playing Dungeons and Dragons Online, when I close DDO and open Firefox again, it only displays half a page and the bottom browser bar is less than half way down the screen. The rest is just blank space like the browser was shrunk and then enlarged again, but the display window in the browser didn't readjust again. I have to close FF and reopen again to fix it. It used to be that the empty space was white. A recent update now causes that space to be RED when it occurs. Not sure if that helps any. I don't have any other games right now, so I haven't tested this with other games, but this ONLY happens to FF!

This is about all I can figure to do right now until we have more information related to this new issue.

  • Object Reference not set to instance of Object when sub-report on new page

    I have a problem when my sub-report goes onto the second page of the report, with an error message.
    My VB.NET displays a report and sub-report (in the footer) in a CrystalReportViewer:
    - When both are on the first page, both display fine
    - When the sub-report (or at least part) goes to the second page, the report displays OK, but without the subreport. When I go to page 2 of the report - hoping to see the sub-report - an error message is displayed, with title "Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer" and text "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object".
    This problem occurs both on my development machine in VS and at a user site.
    Am desperate for some ideas please! I have VB.NET in Visual Studio 2010, and SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010. The program is targeted for .NET Framework 3.5.
    I looked for the HandleException event on my Windows Forms Viewer, as suggested by SAP and Microsoft, but cannot find this. See for [example|http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/businessobjectsxi/en/en/crystalreports_dotnet_sdk/crystalreports_net_doc/doc/crsdk_net_doc/html/crlrfwindowsformscrystalreportviewerclasshandleexceptioneventtopic.htm]

    Usually, the error is due to the object going out of scope. Placing the object in a session may help. Moving the CR code to page init or page load may help. Looking at samples may help:

  • How to hide/show main report footer for a sub report ?

    Need to hide main report footer for a sub report(having more than one page and need to hide footer for all those pages).And again make it visible for another sub report which also have more than one page (and do the same to all of its pages)
    I have tried with formula
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared BooleanVar SuppressFooter := True;
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared BooleanVar SuppressFooter := False;
    with this formula main report footer is shown only on last page of sub report where i need it in all pages.
    Any solution??

    Hi Jinu,
    1) Do some or all of those subreports span multiple pages?
    2) Do each of the Subreports start on a new page?
    If yes, for both, then here's what you need to do:
    1) Create a formula (@True) with this code:
    shared booleanvar SetStatus:= True
    2) Create another formula (@False) with this code:
    shared booleanvar SetStatus:= False
    Drag and drop the @True formula on the details sections for which you want the Page Footer to be suppressed.
    Similarly, drop the @False formula on the details sections for which you want the Page Footer to show up.
    Then, go to the Section Expert > Select Page Footer c > Click the formula button beside Suppress and use this code:
    shared booleanvar SetStatus;

  • Main/Sub Report Passing Parameter

    This is a twist on the general passing parameter question:
    1. The main report is a detail report based on a stored procedure.
    2. The sub report is also based on a stored procedure. This SP calculates the values that will be introduced into a 'table' drawn on the report canvas. The SP consists of a CTE which is a 'reduced' version of the Detail SP used in the main report - to ensure that all the same records are being retrieved between the main and sub reports. Another select, following the CTE, sums the values and makes them available to the Sub Report.
    The client has requested the availability to view records where an Activity Date falls within the last full week, the last month, this month, and YTD. The report is available both through Infoview as well as a scheduled version. The client wants to make a selection as to time period through Infoview.
    Most other users will be using a printed copy of the 'general' report.
    I thought to use the SAVED DATA in SELECTION REPORTS and use Crystal functions to handle this. The SAVED DATA and an optional parameter allowed the user (in Infoview) to change the parameters. This works fine in the main report.
    HOWEVER, the sub report needs to update the totals for the groups of properties that are aggregated in the sub report's summary Stored Procedure. Since the time range will, on changing in the Main Report, reflect different counts,  I need to be able to tell the sub report what the main report is doing.
    The Main report has an Optional Parm ({?Account Open}) which allows the selection of a data range
    The SAVED DATA selection uses the values from the parm:
    if not hasvalue({?Account Open}) then 1=1
        else if hasvalue({?Account Open}) and {?Account Open}=0 then 1=1
        else if hasvalue({?Account Open}) and {?Account Open}=1 then {Account_open_date_newest}in LastFullWeek
        else if hasvalue({?Account Open}) and {?Account Open}=2 then {Account_open_date_newest}in LastFullMonth
        else if hasvalue({?Account Open}) and {?Account Open}=3 then {Account_open_date_newest}in Yeartodate
        else if hasvalue({?Account Open}) and {?Account Open}=4 then {Account_open_date_newest}in CDateTime (CurrentDate-(DayOfWeek(CurrentDate)+1),CTime(00,00,00)) to CDateTime (CurrentDate+(7-(DayOfWeek(CurrentDate))),CTime(23,59,59))
        else 1=0;
    My problem in passing the optional param selection made by the user down to the sub report in order to update the counts.
    Any help would be gratefully appreciated! I have included a snap of the Table from tyhe subreport and a snap of the optional parm from the Main Report

    Jamie -
    Thank you for your reply. I've spent the morning working on the two directions you had provided me with.
    Cross tabs: I took one report, created a cross tab for it, and, as expected, it worked as desired. The issue I'm having is where to place it on the report canvas. If I'm correct, the only place where it can be placed is in a header or footer - the sub report is currently residing in Page Header D (there's a lot of suppression and reveals in these reports). The cross tab does not want to be placed there. It's currently living in the Report Header... further, the cross tab occupies page 1; the remainder of the report starts on page two. Not what needs to happen. The current business specification for the report is: Page 1 includes a page header which includes (through iterations a-e) logo, print date info, the sub report showing the summary a series of group headers which in effect creates an index into the various business units. By clicking on a business unit, any groups under it are exposed. By clicking on the sub group, customer data is exposed. As you go to the 'next page', the Summary sub-report is eliminated and the groups under the Business Unit are shown. All of these dynamics are based on section suppression and unhiding based on the user's interaction, which why the placement of the Summary data is important. If you have any hints on managing the cross tab and its placement, I would be eager to hear them.... (btw - the number of rows in the cross-tab can range from 0 to 12. That dynamism is not a problem with the sub report - would it be for the cross tab?)
    Parameter Passing: I took one of the reports and (1) ensured that the sub report had the exact  same parameter (called Account Open) as the Main Report. (2) ensured that the Saved Data filters in both reports were the same. (In order to do that I had to update the stored proc for the sub report to include an account date field). (3) I then went to link the two reports selecting the Account Open parameter in both the containing and the Fields to Link To list boxes (see the graphic LINK.JOG. This produced no useful result - the Summary showed ALL records- the container report properly showed the count for last full month (see SUMMARY.JPG) (4) I then tried to link a field from the sub report to the Parameter, but only 4 of the six fields from the stored proc's select were displayed. (Prior to this Select there is a CTE which collects the data with a ROW OVER.. PARTITION function):
    SELECT
    customer_business_unit_name,
    account_open_date_newest,
    sum (CASE WHEN currentrisk =1 THEN 1 Else 0 End) lowcount ,
    sum (CASE WHEN currentrisk =2  THEN 1 Else 0 End) midcount ,
    sum (CASE WHEN currentrisk =3 THEN 1 Else 0 End) highcount,
    sum (CASE WHEN currentrisk =0 THEN 1 Else 0 End) unknown
    FROM    records
    WHERE   rn = 1
    group by customer_business_unit_name,account_open_date_newest
    Only the COUNT fields show up in the Fields box (see the graphic LINKS CHECKED.JPG).
    Where have I gone wrong??
    Again, thank you for your earlier reply.

  • Sub-report summary fields

    I have two sub-reports on a report. Each of these sub-reports have a quantity summary on them. I want to find the difference between these two summary totals.
    So let's say Sub(A) total is 200 and Sub(B) total is 25, is there a way to subtract the 25 from the 200 and bring that total to the main report?

    HI SD,
    1.you have share the value to main report from both sub report by using formula .
    2.Sub Report Formula
    For A Sub Report
    shared numberVar Aqty;
    Aqty := Sum ({Command.Qty})
    For B Sub Report
    shared numberVar Bqty;
    Bqty := Sum ({Command.Qty})
    3.Main Report Formula
    Aqty
    shared numberVar Aqty;
    B Qty
    shared numberVar Bqty;
    4.you can create final formula for different Aqty-Bqty
    5.you should put formula in both sub report and you should place the main report formula in below of sub report then only it will work. -Rajesh N

  • Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

    Hi there,
    Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
    Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
    formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
    and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
    formula name=subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
    subIntRatePageCount;
    I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
    The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of  3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

    Also thanks Raghavendra, Asha,
    I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
    I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
    The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.
    Regards
    Robert.

  • Is it possible to programmatically replace a Sub Report in a crystal report

    We create crystal reports via the crystal report designer (not in any IDE) , and attach the reports directly to the database via stored procedures. Each report contains a page header and a page footer with patient demographic data. We distribute these reports to our customers and they may edit the templates and alter the page header and page footers specific to their needs.
    We are looking at using sub reports to build a "model" page header and page footer that would be inserted into each template at design time. What we would like to do is allow the customers to create their own sup reports to contain their custom page header / page footer and then programmatically replace the " model" sub reports with the custom sub reports. Please note that these sub reports would not contain any data access and would not be linked to the main report, rather the main report would assign the data that is displayed in the page header/page footer data to shared variables,  and the sub reports would use the shared variables as their data source to display the data.
    Is it possible to programmatically replace 1 sub report with another ? If so are there any code snippets to review -

    Yes it is. Submit your post to which ever SDK you are using into the Developer forums. But search the posts first and look in our samples. This is relatively easy to do.
    Thank you

    Hello,I am currently working with Crystal Reports XI Release 2 and have questions about optimization.  We have a dataset (.NET) generated from Oracle and then passed to Crystal.  For our largest report it is taking 15 seconds for the dataset to be generated, but over 3 minuets for Crystal to generate the report.  We have 14 sub reports within this report.  I'm pretty certain this is the bottle neck.Any sub report optimization suggestions?  Would arrays be the way to go instead?

    Post Author: olaszb
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    I went through the report and suppressed all sub reports and this cut the time down by 1/3 but still too slow.  On our largest report we are getting 376 pages and with the sub reports suppressed there are 263 pages returned.  Does anyone know if still goes through/caches the info of a sub report even if the report is suppressed?
