Subcontracting process - partially subcontracted and partially in-house
Hello,
I have a scenario where one of my BoM items is produced in-house as well as sub-contracted. If my lines are loaded, then I perform material subcontracting. How do I map this in SAP? Thanks.

Since procurement type "X" is defaulted as production, MDUM would probably not work in this case. There a need for manual intervention to tell the system that a certain planned order is to converted into a PR. You can use MD16, or other transaction where you can manually choose the planned orders, and manually make a conversion decition.
There could be an alternative way, more automated, using quota arrangement. Then already at MRP level the system generates the right type of procurement element. The only thing is that this may work only if you have a kind of predefined pattern to split between production and subcontracting. For this you will also need to use production versions.

this is mto scenaoir. first we produce fabricated structure(box) like electrical panel . after manufacturing the box, i have to do painting and final box manufactured i will started assembly with different components . and finally it become say a panel.
i have only simple bom. and only one final operation in routing . first i will issue the material to order , when complete the finished product , i will do conformation , and goods receipt for that order.
if iwant to give subcontracting forcomplite fabricated structure like box i will assigned the exteranal operation , the pr will creates for subcontracting operation , i will provide material to vendor by mb51 for manicuring box. when i do gr for sub contracting
this box will be posted against order. this is ok
but i will give 50% order qty to subcontracting and remaing 50% i will manufacure in house. for box manufacture.for inhouse
manufactuoreed fabricated box i will send for painting to subcontracting vendor for painting operation . for this i will send the box and paint .
pl tell me how to map in the system.

First I suggest that for the entire subcontracting you use the other business process, with purchasing and item category "L" for subcontracting in the purchase order.
Then you can use the quota arrangement definition to split 50% of the orders to that, and the other 50% to inhouse production. If you have an external operation in the inhouse production routing it's OK, it is still considered as an overall internal production process, since it is done within the framework of a production order.

Customer Acceptance Can't Process Partial accept/reject
Is the new R12 feature for customer acceptance really must accept or reject a sales order delivery line, and cannot process partial accept / reject?
If so, then this new feature won't matter much i'm afraid.

GerryAt first, I imagined that it will have the functionality to accept or reject partial >shipment. The deviation will then be enterred as expected receipt (just as the >RMA receipt would). Upon receiving (querried with the Sales Order number), the >journal created will be Inventory Valuation (material account) against Deferred >COGS. The autoinvoice will pull those that the customer received only (pre-billing >explicit/implicit acceptance). The SO line quantity will be changed with the >quantity that the customer received, and a new line will be created with the >rejected quantity and the status of backordered.I think this logic has a flaw: When you have shipped 10, you have delviery detail for 10 and inventory transaction for 10 (sales order shipment). Hence the accounting is Cr Inventory 1000 (assuming cost is 100) and Dr Deferred COGS 1000. If customer accepts 10 then there is a logical material transaction created for the same and accounting is Cr Deferred COGS 1000 and Dr COGS 1000 and invoice is generated for the order line with whatever is the price of the line.
Instead if the customer accepts only 6?
1. What happens to the orginial accounting entries? As you can see here, this orginal accounting entry has to be updated to match with the accepted quantity. YOu cannot just create logical entry here as quantity has to be received into inventory which will create entries for the same.

2. You have to update the trasansaction quantity from 10 to 6 as customer accepted only 6. You cannot just create a logical transaction 4 as there are a number of procedures to be followed when returning goods into invnetory (location, quality control and many other processes).
3. You have to synch up the delivery details with the accepted quantity and order line quantities need to be synched up with delivery details. Hassel.
You were saying that there is no way to reverse the entry from deferred COGS to >inventory, but with current functionality, should the customer reject partial >shipment, we must create RMA for the whole line, create a new identical >order/line, ship the accepted quantity, and the rejected quantity will be treated >as backordered. Isn't it the same, but with longer manual steps?A lot is industry or company specific. If the customer accepts partial quantities, you will RMA for the partial quantities not the whole quantity and create a new ship line for the partial quantities again (if the customer wants it and rejected because of quality issues). THis all depends on company to company as we do not know why the customer is rejecting in the first place. Returning for quality reasons, returning for good or cannot accept at this time because they have space issues or simply demand is not there. I agree that it is a pain from the invoicing printing perspective (customer is expecting for only 6 but we send it for 10).
Moreover, with current workaround like that, will it impact the sales order history >report? Will it show double sales order, eventhough the revenue will only >recognize one? (no problem for custom report, but I haven't tested the standard >report).There is no double revenue here as you are squaring off original invoice with an RMA.
I am not defending the Oracle's functionality. This is the first step taken in right direction and I am sure there are lot more changes on the way in this area. So for now, this is what it is.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

How do I process multiple files and turn them from raw to jpeg. Ive tried and it seems to go through the files but doesnt seem to process them or store them in the selected folder
Yes that was the first thing I did. Then I used the process multiple files and selected a new folder to put them in and selected use open files and selected to turn them into jpeg. The images flash on the screen like they are being processed, but the folder never appears in library. Is it possible because there are a couple 16 bit files open that this corrupts the task. Do I need to create the folder first. Will elements not create the folder on its own.

My iphone 4 is telling me I have to restore but when I plug in and connect to itunes, it freezes about 30-50 % through the process. Now I can't use my phone at all? I am waiting about 1-3 hours for this process to finish and nothing ever happens. HELP!!
Put it into DFU mode - hold the sleep/wake button and home button until the screen goes black (ignoring the slide to turn off slider). When the screen goes black release the sleep/wake button but hold the home button. Continue holding the home button for 10 seconds, then release it. The screen should stay black. Plug it into iTunes and it should come up with this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. It must be restored before use", that's when it is successfully in DFU mode. Now press the restore button in iTunes and it should run smoothly :)

Often, the Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted. This happens especially when many apps are running but even though there are plenty of memory resources available.
I have tried to find if something is using Firefox in the background, but have no way to know what that would be.
Their are no apparent viruses detected.
Firefox is version v5.0 and occurred in earlier release.
System is Windows 7 (64bit).well, it's not the same hardware and it's a bit different.
I managed to pass that stage somehow but I still have a problem
I don't use the built-in creator tool that comes with Spyrus as it doesn't know how to append a pre-staged media that was created by SCCM that should apply the Windows file system to a second partition and the WinPE to the first partition.
I managed to do everything. my only problem is that the WTGCreator that comes with SCCM 2012 R2 creates the 350MB partition with FAT32 file system.
when I boot from the device I get the WinPE, I can choose a task sequence and then it fails when trying to apply the wim file. the error tells me that the 350MB partition is FAT32 which is not supported (even though it chooses the second partition, which
is all the rest of the disk space)
what I did was adding another task that converts the 32 Fat partition to an NTFS partition and then the process continues and finishes successfully! but that's a workaround.
I'm trying to make this process as smooth as possible without having additional steps

Is it possible to overwrite the master files with the versions without having to go through the entire process of exporting and importing back the images?
Thnx in advanceA small refinement if you shoot RAW. Remember, no RAW file can ever be edited or rewritten. Thus, in the old days, the flow was:
RAW>TIFF/PSD and you ended up with two large files. (This is why some folks used to delete the RAW Masters.)
With Aperture the flow is something like:
RAW+Version(s) Only the Version is only 30 KB. (There is, of course, additional overhead of Thumbs and Previews, but, depending on your settings, this is only a fraction of the size of a TIFF or PSD.)
You question goes right to the heart of the concept of a non-destructive workflow. With Aperture you always preserve your original Master file; the only things that are ever at risk are your edits (called Adjustments). Ironically, this is even more valuable if you shoot JPEG or TIFF as those files could be rewritten.)
Aperture goes to great lengths to give you the best of both worlds; you always have the Master to revert to and your "edits" take up very little disk space. And you don't have to waste time trying to sync folders of RAW, TIFF, and JPEG. Similarly, you never have to worry about resizing images, changing color spaces, or any number of other things that get locked into an image file when you use a destructive workflow.
Remember, Aperture will happily Export files in any format you may need. Export 'em, use 'em, delete 'em - your Masters are still safe in Aperture.

Verity vspider.exe process never stops and sucks system resources
I'm running a scheduled task to index a site on a Win2k3 server running CF8. I'm having a problem where the vspider.exe process never stops and sucks up system resources, slowing my whole server down. It actually is doing quite a bit of work... I'm directing the output into a log file, and I'm getting 300 K of information and it seems to be walking the site just fine. But it ends up not finishing the job and running forever. I have to open the task manager to terminate the process and then the server runs better.
Any ideas?I have not found an answer to this problem, though it hasn't been a problem lately. I now send the output of the vspider.exe process to a log file and can check the status of the index job. I index nightly, so if the process is running at anytime, I can look at the results of the index job in my log file. This might give some clues. I have a feeling I had a corrupt index and vspider was choking. Try rebuilding your index from scratch.

Why is the Raw processing so noisy and lousy in Aperture 3.3 vs LR4
I have been using LR4 to process my photos due to its image quality and its functions .
However I have always liked aperture for its file managmenet. when the 3.3 is out I thought
this could be me the game changer, ( I am shooting with 5D3)
However over the weekend I have found out that doing a side by side comparision the Aperture's Raw (CR2) processing
is simply not acceptable. it is lack of sharpenss and high noise is nothing but a joke if you compare to the LR4.
I hope it is some setting that I am doing wrong so I went to the apple store, and ther" Creative" guys was not able to solve
the issues as well, so now I am back to square one. I have to use LR4 to process my photos and APERTURE to store them...
Any one has better ideas?

Lightroom's noise reduction is better than Aperture's on noisy images right now. Lightroom's controls can easily knock down luminance and chroma noise, while Aperture's tools are fairly limited. You can use 3rd party plugins (Nik Dfine, Noise Ninja, etc.) that will do a good job but that renders a TIFF file which I'm not overly fond of for just this purpose.
But, still, the 5D Mark III has awfully good noise performance. Are you shooting at ISO 12800 or higher all the time? Is the noise frequently visible in all of your shots when you're not pixel peeping?
I ask because, while Lightroom is certainly better w.r.t. noise reduction than Aperture at the moment, I don't have all that many of my shots that really, really need noise reduction. -
