Subcontracting with Partial material

Hello All,
We are in CIN ECC 6 SAP , and have one requirement in subcontracting process , company is providing input materials to the subcontractor , in some situations the input material is sent partial (due to less stock in company)to the subcontractor and in turn the vendor puts his own material and returns backs the items , since the vendor iincludes his materials , he has to provide excise or tax for that particular material. how can be this addressed  in subcontracting process? since in BOM we will not include the materials what he has put.
Thanks in advance
Benny

Hi Benny
you create a seperate line item with item cat L only for the material you are not supplying the components and flag the SC flag in the delivery address tab of your PO along with the vendor number of your subcontractor.
If Vendor is charging the cost of the component as Subcontracting fee then you can DO GR directly. other wise you have to do a GR seperately.
Cheers
Chris

  • Subcontracting partial material

Several of you contributed to an excellent post last year on "subcontracting" - threadID 427179.  We are trying to do a variation and having a challenge.  We want to send out a partially completed material to a local vendor to do some work on it (e.g., if our tool is broken), then return it and finish the job:
    For material X:
    - operation 10:  some processing toward X on machine A  (BOM component, input, was raw material Y)
    - operation 20:  subcontract to vendor 123 (we'll send him the pile of partially complete X, which is not yet in inventory; he'll return it)
    - operation 30:  final processing toward X on machine C (we'll do GR on X)
With that other post, and some other insights, I have an external contracting operation on the routing, and a Purch Info Record with no material;  the production order does allow the time for operation 20 based on the PIR; a Purch Req is proposed by the production order.
    But two issues:
    1. The PR can't be converted - something about no BOM components
    2.  If I recursively add X to it's own BOM, it doesn't help:  I can get the PR to a PO, but I can't do a 541 movement from ME2o - there is no "inventory" anywhere yet (at least no material X's).
Any thoughts on how I might (a) have a 3rd party work on a material, and (b) account for the fact that a not-yet-complete material has been sent off sight and returned?
    Thanks for any wisdom!
    Thomas.

Thanks for the response - a service PO - that sounds like the kind of thing I'll need, but I still need to have the routing account for the expected time at the service vendor, and I still need to get the material there and back.
Let me try to do a better job of explaining the functionality:  Suppose we're building a metal casting - like an engine block (material X).  When we're done, we'll just have that one piece of metal.  We start with a rough block of metal (raw material Y).
Operation 0010, we do some machining on a big milling machine; but we don't bring the result into inventory yet.
Operation 0020, that big piece of metal has to go into a special oven to heat treat it; ours is full, so we want to send the big piece of metal down the street to a vendor who has a similar oven; he treats it and sends it back
Operation 0030, we now take that heat treated piece of metal and do some final milling on it, the result of which is a block we can put into inventory (as a sub component of some other assembly.
Usually, we have capacity in our oven, so it is easy to have one material go through those 3 operations.  That way we just have one routing, one BOM for that component, one production order.   All of our other BOMs which need that casting (e.g., to make various other sub-assemblies) expect the completed casting to be material X.
Does that make sense?  Thank you for your interest!
    Thomas.

  • PS subcontracting with external activity

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions about "PS subcontracting with external activity" I have not found any information about this for PS subcon flow, I was looking for a subcon PS Wiki but no succeed.
The scenario is to use a  external activity to a subcontractor and put the material components to deliver in the  external activity and check the subcon check box. Then use the valuated project stock for holding the materials.
For material components there is an option in tab "Proc. Param" and fiel "Mat. Prov. Ind." = "Material Provision Indicator", do you know if this option can be use or be available in PS? This field is grey so I can not do anything with it, so my guess is that option use only by a BOM, could you confirm that for me?
Right now I have a problem in the system so I can not save a project when creating a external activity and use the subcon check box, this is at OSS right now. But I was wondering if I put the material components in a external activity, how will it be represented in the PO?
Will it be only one item in the PO, the service from the external activity? and inside this item will hold all my material components? this can be found in tab "Material data" -> "Components".
Please share if you have some information about this,
    Regards
    Jose
PS Note that this scenario is not a MM subcon

    abdul,
I'm talking what you can do in the system, there is 3 posibilities I have in mind:
    Alternative 1
Is when I will send all the parts, thats right separated parts to be one. The material which will be the final material, is not in my stock/company. It is a new material Im manufacturing with the help of a subcontractor.
In PS I want to create a subcontracting external activity, create a PR from PS, create a PO and deliver it to the receiver in other words the subcontractor who will put it together to the final material.
For this alternative I think I have to create the material which the subcontractor will put together and have it as a head material in a BOM. The BOM will represent the parts Im sending for assembly, so when the material is deliver back to me, I will do a goods receipt of the head material.
My question is in this if I have thought this right, if you have experience of this please contact me.
    Alternative 2
Is when I will send a existing material and all the parts which will be use to maintain/repair this particular material from my stock/company to a subcontractor who will do the work. This material will have the same material no. when I do the goods receipt.
In PS I want to create a subcontracting external activity, create a PR from PS, create a PO and deliver it to the receiver in other words the subcontractor who will maintain/repair the material.
For this alternative I think I can use a BOM, create a BOM of this existing material which will be maintain/repair with the parts I will send.
My question is in this if I have thought this right, if you have experience of this please contact me.
    Alternative 3
This alternative is almost the same as alternative 2 with the exception that the material Im sending will change the material no when its back from the subcontractor. So I will send a existing material and all the parts which will be use to maintain/repair this particular material from my stock/company to a subcontractor who will do the work. This material will get a new material no. when I do the goods receipt.
Then I have to put the new material in my external activity as a material component with negative quantity as part of the subcontracting delivery
My question is in this if I have thought this right, if you have experience of this please contact me.
I hope my question is now clear for you, we are using the defence and aero solution so what I know I do can use the subcontracting with valuated project stock

    hi
This is a subcontracting under full payment of duty scenario.

Subcontracting Under Full Payment of Duty
    Purpose
This procedure illustrates how you use the system to send materials to your subcontractors for processing using normal excise invoices.
    Prerequisites
You have created a condition type for manually entering excise duty in the subcontract order. In the standard system, you can use condition type JEXC, maintain in pricing procedure.
    Process Flow...
    1. Create a
tract order for the subcontractoru2019s services.Enter excise manually in the condition type JEXC & take a tax code for VAT calculation.
    2. Do the transfer posting for the materials that you want to send to the subcontractor.
    3. Create an outgoing excise invoice for the materials by J1IS & J1IV.
    4. You send the materials to the subcontractor, together with the excise invoice.
    5. The subcontractor processes the materials and returns them to you, together with another excise invoice.
    6. Captures the subcontractoru2019s excise invoice, using the purchase order as the reference document.
    7. Do the goods receipt & refer excise invoice in excsie tab.
    8. Posts excise invoice.
    9. The accounts payable clerk posts the subcontractoru2019s invoice.
    for imports
    Import scenario
To map Import procedure into SAP , follow the following steps :
1.Create material master of import goods.
2.Create vendor master record of import vendor and Customs clearing vendor.
    3.Maintain CIN settings.
    4.Maintain J1id.
5.Maintain Pricing procedure SAP standard JIMPOR..,maintain required conditions..JCDB,JCV1...
6.Assign the schema to respective import vendor in Purchasing view of VMR.
7.Create import PO ,check in conditions of JCDB, JCV1 the customs clearing vendor(Indian vendor) and percentage is assigned..This can be done by In condition tab select condtion then click on display, then enter.
    Save the PO.
8.MIRO --Capture Bill Of Entry.(Commercial Invoice No.,).Customs clearing first .Here CVD will b converted to BED.
    9.Capture Excisse invoice--j1iex.
    10.MIGO.
    12.Post Excise Invoice.
    13.MIRO...Payment to vendor(import vendor)

  • Subcontracting with pay of Excise Duty

    Dear All,
In Subcontracting with pay of Excise Duty,
How much % i have to maintain in Condition Type JEXC & how could i get the accounting entry mention below in MIGO & Excise flow in BED,ECS & SECS fields.
    CENVAT Input BED - Dr
    CENVAT Input ECS - Dr
    CENVAT Input SECess - Dr
    CENVAT Clearing A/c - Cr
    Plz suggest...........
    Thanks

    Hi,
Indeed, in subcontracting process u donot need to pay any excise despite the material sending to the vendor is excisable one. Here in this process:
    1. U have to create a subcontract  challan with J1IF01 and take a print out of the challan with j1if13 and send with subcon material.
    2. Transfer the material from our stocks to subcontractor vendor with 541 movement type.
If the material is not received from  the vendor with in 180 days u have to pay the CENVAT credit amount taken at the time of  purchasing.
And, u can take the credit again after receiving the material again using J1IFQ.
If it is of  inventorised excise type, u donot need to think of it as the values r gets added to the material at the the time of purchasing itself.

    Hi,
First Create BOM in Transaction code: CS01, for your Finished product which you want to procure from the SC Vendor........in items you can give the Raw materials you are providing to SC Vendor.....Very Importanly, for the component you want to send to SC Vendor also should have the Sales view....then only the Shipping point determination and all takes place...
Then in Transaction code ME11, create Sub Contracting Inforecord
Then in OLME-->Purchase Order>Set up Sub Contract Order--
    > For your Plant from where you are shipping the material to SC Vendor,  Assign Delivery type LB....
Then for your Suppling Plant Sales Area, Create one Customer master and in that customer master assign your SC Vendor in General Data->Control Data Tab>In Vendor Field  and In Sales Area Data-.> Shipping Data tab--
    >Maintain entries in  Delivery Priority,Shipping Conditions,Delivering Plant fields.
Then Create SC Purchase Order with Item catogary "L"....In Item details--->Material Data Tab--
.>Components,  you can view the details of the material you have to send to SC Vendor.... then save the PO
Then Goto, Transaction Code, ME2O, choose the component and choose create Delivery....then Delivery no will be created.....then you goto VL02n and do the PGI...The components will be automatically transferred to SC Vendor in  541 movement type...
After completion of work, you can do GR Normally...
Hope I have explained in detailed manner
    Reward if useful

  • Subcontracting with slaes order

    hi i want to know
how can we do the subcontracting with sales order
i got a process using 311 e movemnt when i search on SDN
plz let me know if this process is correct how can i  have subcon challan
    Subcontracting scenario(Sale Order wise)
    Subcontracting For Sales order.
    Subcontract Account assigned PO
how can i create storage loc as vendor
    plz help
    regards
    raj

    Hi,
    Subcontracting for Project Stock: -
Purpose: - Subcontracting is also possible in conjunction with Project stocks. The subcontracting orders are account-assigned to a Project. Thus, the components are not transferred (using a transfer posting) to the "stock of material provided to vendor" but are directly withdrawn from the Project stock the time of the goods receipt. The material manufactured is also posted to the Project stock.
The cost of subcontracting is then debited to the Project.
Since the components are not transferred to the "stock of material provided to vendor", it is recommended that you use a transfer posting to transfer the provided components to a new storage location (for example, 9999). This enables you to obtain an overview of those stocks that are physically located at the subcontractor. This information is particularly important when you carry out a physical inventory of the Project stocks.
    Features: -
Withdrawal from Stock of Mat. Provided for Project: -
For components that are managed in Project stock, you can define whether the components are to be withdrawn directly from each Project or from the stock of material provided to vendor. You manage this via the dependent requirements indicator for individual customer requirements and collective requirements (MARC-SBDKZ).
You can maintain this indicator in the following places:
In the MRP view of the material master record (MRP 4)
In the explosion types for the BOM item (in Customizing for Production in the step Basic Data -> Bill of Material -> Item Data -> Define explosion types)
Configuring the explosion types has priority over the configuration in Inventory Management.
If the indicator is set at Collective requirements only (2), the materials are withdrawn from the stock of material provided to vendor. If this indicator is set any other way, the system withdraws materials from Project stock.
    Regarding Subcontracting Challan: -
Go to OMJJ, select the field "movement type" and press enter
Enter movement type "311" and double click on "Field selection (Enjoy)" under Dialog Structure on left side.
here "New Entries" and add field "LIFNR" (Vendor)
Now in MIGO, at the time of transfer posting of components using movement type "311 Q", specify the vendor code of the Subcontracting PO (i.e. Subcontractor)
Now create Subcontracting Challan in J1IF01 for material document of 311 Q movement type.
Also check in SPRO > Logistics - General > Tax on Goods Movements > India > Business Transactions > Subcontracting > Maintain Movement Type Groups > here for Movement Type Group "0001", Movement Type "311 Q" should be maintained.
Then do GR against PO and refer the Subcontracting Challan here.
And then do reconciliation in J1IFQ for the GR Document against Subcontracting Challan.
Also check in SPRO > Logistics - General > Tax on Goods Movements > India > Business Transactions > Subcontracting > Maintain Movement Type Groups > here for Movement Type Group "0002", Movement Type "543 Q" should be maintained.
    Follow the below mentioned process;
    Process Steps: -
    1. OX09 - Create Storage Location as "9999" for Subcontractor Location
    2. MB1B - Do Transfer Posting of material from RM Warehouse to this Storage Location via movement type "311 Q" (Instead of doing 541)
    3. Now go to J1IF01 - here use material document of movement type "311 Q" and create Subcontracting challan. (If required)
Prerequisite: - In SPRO > Logistics - General > Tax on Goods Movements > India > Business Transactions > Subcontracting > Maintain Movement Type Groups > Here for Movement Type Group "0001" (For issues), maintain movement type "311 Q" also along with 541.
Rest all, refer subcontracting challan during GR and then reconciliation and completion, etc... will be same as usual.
Note: - At the time of GR, consume components from storage location "9999" (for 543 movement type)

  • Subcontracting with BOM

    Dear all,
Can anyone tell me the method of creating PO with BOM
i mean what are the additional fields should be maintained in Material Master???
How to create Material BOM using Tcode CS01??
Is CS01 Tcode is for to create for maintaining Bill of Materials for a Finished product??
pls tell me in detail step by step to Create BOM and subcontracting BOM
    Thanks a lot in advance??

    Sub Contracting Cycle
    (1) You have a material that can be procured externally, and you have maintained BOM with components. Any waste generated and received during subcontracting process can be maintained as component with negative quantity.
    (2) You create a subcontracting PO (PO with Item Category L). You can also maintain Purchase Info Record for Subcontract category for material and subcontractor.
    (3) You make a transfer posting to issue components for SC PO. Material is sent to subcontractor. As material remains under your ownership, system does not make any value entry. But quantity is shown as "Material Provided to Vendor"
    (4) You receive finished material against SC-PO. You also specify components consumed in manufacturing of finished goods. Additionally, if you have negative components in BOM, now you'll also receive subcontracting by-products. There are three events, so three accounting entries are generated:
DR FG Stock/ SC By-Product Stock
CR Change in Stock (FG/ SC By-Product )
    (for finished goods received)
    DR Subcontracting Charges
    CR GR/IR Clg
    (for moneys payable to Subcontractor)
    DR Consumption (Components)
CR Change in Stock (FG/ SC By-Product )
(material provided to Vendor is now charged to expense)
    (5) You do the IV for SC Invoice, and the process is complete.
    Process of Subcontract in MM
    Sub-contract business process:
You want to buy material from the supplier (processed material/ assembled item) , but for some reason (quality of certain item / price ) you will give some component to vendor .
Vendor shall process the item / use the item provided & supply the final item.
    SAP process:
1.Create the finished goods material code.
2.Maintain the BOM for the material.
3.Create PO with item category as "L" .
4.Issue material to vendor with movement type 541
5.Receive the material against the PO with movement type 101.
6.MIRO to account for vendor's invoice for the service charge& material used by him.
Can anybody tell me how a process has to be given to subcontracting?
    Suppose, I have 3 operations 1)weaving 2)dyeing 3)cutting & packing
if no 2 process (i.e Dyeing) has to be given to subcontracting, what process should i follow ?
The following process to be followed for subcontracting.
    1. Item code(material master) to be created at the stage of before dyeing.
    2. Item code(material master) to be created after Dyeing as subcontracted item.(F30)
    3. Bill of material to becreated for the material(2) calling for material(1)
    4. Inforecord and source list to be created for material(2) with the corresponding vendor
    5. PO to be released for material (2)
6.Along with PO the material(1) to be issued to vendor
7.On receipt of material when GR is made the stock with vendor will get updated.
How to Create a Subcontract Order?
To create a subcontract order, proceed as follows:
Enter the material you want to order and the item category for subcontracting (L) in the order item.
Press ENTER to display the screen for component processing.
Enter the components that the vendor requires to manufacture the product.
    Please note:
    – You do not need to enter the date required for the components. This date is proposed by the system when you press ENTER.
    It is calculated as follows:
Delivery date of the item - Planned delivery time
    – If you do not want the quantity of the components to be changed if the order quantity of the end product is altered, set the indicator Fixed quantity (column F).
    – You can determine whether the components are available on the date required by selecting Edit -> Availability check.
If you entered a bill of material as the material in the subcontract order, the components are created automatically.
If you want to determine the components in the bill of material at a later date (for example, if the bill of material is subsequently changed), choose Item -> Component -> New BOM explosion. The existing components are deleted and redetermined in the bill of material.
    Save the purchase order.
When you print the purchase order, the components are printed per order item
    Subcontracting - Key Points
    Special Procurement Process.
    Item category: L
    Order type: NB
In info record vendor should be maintained as subcontractor.
Vendor (Subcontractor) receives the components used to manufacture a finished product directly from your company or through third party.
Your company should place a purchase order for the finished product. In this manually you can enter the required individual components or it can be determined via the explosion of BOM (if exists).
Stock check at vendor level: ME2O
    Company stock check: MMBE
GR for individual components through movement type: 501 or 561 (if with out PO or without reference).
GI to subcontracting vendor: through movement type 541.
GR from sub contracting vendor: through movement type: 101
Movement type 543 is displayed to cancel the material cost account.
If the subcontracting order has to be generated through materials planning, the special procurement key has to be set in MRP 2 screen.
    - To create the Subcon Info Record : Tcode ME11 - Info Category - Click Subcontracting
    - To create Material BOM : Tcode CS01
    - With the Info and Material Setup, you can then create the Purchase Order in Tcode ME21N

  • Possible to to Prod subcontracting with REM

    Hi,
Like we do for Production order , is there a control key for Repetitive mfg plan order to sendout operation for subocntracting.
if yes , what are difference with Production order flow.
Thanks much in advance for help,
    Jatin

    Hi Jatin,
There is no any separate control key as such for REM subcontracting even I have doubt that operation sub-contracting is possible in REM scenario. I have never worked on such but in my understanding if you are using a reporting point backflush then this may be achieved.
You can use direct sub-contracting where this is possible means keep subcontracted incoming SF material as procurement type F and take the help of MM expert to show the consumable raw material if any in the PR created. In this type of scenario PR is created for subcontracting material and you can track it like a separate subcontracting material.
Also for more info refer below threads,

    Hi,
If you are sending the material for subcontracting with account assignment "E" , G/L account is mandatory even though it is free goods  issue. In Automatic Accoutn determination(AAD) system SAP std configuration.
Please give the G/L account and proceed.

  • Error message while creating production order with KMAT material strategy25

Hi PP Gurus I am running variant configuration cycle...Strategy 25, Custermer Req KEK (KMAT Matrl)
Sales order & MRP Picked the components correctly as per the dependencies
written. So Planned order generated against sale order.
When I tried to convert planned order to Production order...I am getting the
    below error message..
    Error Message:
You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock Message no. CO684
Diagnosis The component cannot be allocated to an individual stock because
make-to-order production and engineer-to-order production cannot be executed
    with this order.
A possible cause is that you are trying to create an order with reference to a
sales-order/project, where an account assignment to a sales order/project is not
allowed in the settlement profile that is assigned to the chosen order type.
    This is inconsistant.
System response The following responses are possible:
    Order processing is cancelled.
The system resets the special stock indicator back to the original value.
    Procedure Choose another order type.
I used order type with SD1 as settelement profile.
    OVZG: default 046, settlement profile = SD1
    OPJH: Settlement profile = SD1
Plz through some light on this if u have worked on Variant Configuration/MTO
    settlements.
    Question:
    1) Is creation of production order with KMAT material supported by SAP?
    2) If yes, why the above error occurs?
    Waiting for Ur reply
    With Best Regards

    Dear R.Brahmankar,
I have check on the note, but it is not relevant to ecc6. The current system default setting is :
Standrad setting for reqt class 046
    Special Stock E
    Acct Assgt Cat. M
    Valuation M
    Settlmt Profile SD1
However if I change the Acct Assgt Cat. from M to E. It resolve the problem. I would like to know is this the right solution?
    Config in Acct Assgt M
    Consumption Posting = E
    Config in Acct Assgt E
    Consumption Posting = '  '
In F1 key of Consumption Posting field it shown following:
To flag the sales order item as cost- and revenue-carrying, enter an "E" (settlement via sales order).
If you do not wish to flag the sales order item as cost- and revenue-carrying, do not enter anything.
    Dependencies
If you are working with nonvaluated sales order stock, always flag the sales order item as cost- and revenue-carrying.
If you are working with valuated sales order stock:
In the case of complex make-to-order production, flag the sales order item as cost- and revenue-carrying
In the case of sales-order-related mass production, do not flag the sales order item as cost- and revenue-carrying
    Should we change to E?

    Ong
