Submenu formatting - text box outline won't disappear

I'm putting the final touches on my muse site and added a sebmenu.  I want to make it consistent with my other one, which has no borders - it just changes fill colors and text colors on rollover, etc.  For some reason, the new submenu shows solid lines outlining the submenu even though the stroke is set to no fill.  What am I missing?

Hello,
There are strokes applied to both "submenu" and "menu item" level, so you'll need to remove them both to get the effect that you're looking for. Check this short video I created for you (Please listen to the audio as well): http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-10-31_0006.swf
Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to count the number of chars in a formatted text box?

I have a formatted text box in my web dynpro for comments pertaining to workflow.
in the backend, this is mapped to a char200 field.
is there a way to have a running counter to let the user know how many chars are left? I'm not sure if there's an event to use for that.
    thanks,
    robert.

    Hello Robert,
There is no way to get a running total of characters typed by the user - if you really need this functionality - consider creating an Adobe Flash Island.
There was in the last year another thread which covered pretty much the same theme - it could be worth looking at that - although you will find that the eventual solution is the same as I suggest above.

  • I designed a document in indesign but i need to add a formatted text box to it

I've created an indesign document with an interactive text box, but when I open it in Acrobat, the formatting is stripped from the indesign document in the field where I need it. How do I keep the formatting used on the indesign document so that when someone fills in the content on the PDF in Acrobat, the formatting sticks?

WHat specifically do you mean by formatting? Just the font name?

  • Format Text Boxes

Can you format multiple text boxes at once-over 100?  I need to format many text boxes to "number"  with .00

In JavaScript you can use the "AFNumberFormat" function to set the format of a field. See the Acrobat JS API Reference for version 5 for the only documentation of this built-in function. You will need to provide the name of the fields to be formatted. You should also set the key stroke action.

  • Text in "Text Box Tool" won't print

I have Adobe 6 Professional and a Brother printer.
You can print text box comments and highlighted text using "Document and comments" option under the "Print what" drop-down in your printer dialogue window.

    Thanks...
Flatten sounds like a great way to go. I looked all over, but didn't see a flatten action, can you point me in right direction? I think Photoshop and/or Illustrator have this, but was hoping to just stay in Acrobat, and not get too involved/complicated, if possible.
I stumbled upon a document that said flattening occurs if you save it to [a very old version of Acrobat, like 1.x] Didn't see any place to do this either... on the "Optimize" menu, mine only goes down to Readable by "4.0 and later". Welcome any suggestions.
Re: using "real text" instead of comments, I'd like to, but in some cases the pdf is received, instead of created. So, would like to be able to work with what got (a pdf at the start), then just add the text and embed/flatten/integrate/save or whatever, permanently so to speak, into the document.
Thanks again, and thank you for patience with these questions...

  • Picture Book theme - why has my book printed with text box outlines showing? and how do I change this for any future purchases? This did not occur with previous books.

Why have borders appeared around the text boxes in the Picture Book theme and how do I change them for the future.  My latest book looks dreadful!

Have you checked, if your book is really set to the "Photos" Theme? This looks like you may have used one of the "Travel" themes. These themes create borders around the text boxes. When you select a theme, the book title will say "Photos", even if the theme is a different one.
For example, frames text boxes with the "travel" theme.
Have you previewed your book, before printing it? Did the framed boxes already show in the preview?
See: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture

  • Annoying dialogue box that won't disappear

I just updated Snow Leopard to 10.6.4 and it came with an unwanted guest. In the lower right corner of my screen sits a yellow dialogue box that says: "Open as a normal image. Option-click...." It persists in every ap that I run. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

  • Is there a KNOWN BUG regarding photos and text box formatting?

I have created an extensive website for my town's Environmental Commission. (www.njnaturenotes.com).
There are numerous pages in which text boxes are formatted with color, borders and shadows, and with photos. However, some of the pages (actually, an increasing number) are showing all the right attributes in iWeb, but NOT on the web (using Safari or any other browser).
I've tried duplicating existing pages that 'work' and making modifications for them to be new pages (new subjects and photos) but in many cases the photos don't show up on the web, nor does most or all of the text box outlines and shadows. Sometimes, even the Hit Counter doesn't show up on the web.
Is this a known bug in iWeb?

I made it a point to view the site from windows machines today, using IE, Firefox and Safari. Spent lots of time making comparisons and looking for details.
With each browser, it fit the page…no horizontal scrolling. So, that wasn't an issue. Perhaps yours is an older computer or has an unusual setting that's causing windows to fit beyond the screen edges horizontally.
The fastest browser was Safari, on both Mac and Windows. Firefox on each platform was somewhat slower and displayed most of the formatting (mostly text box shadows and photo shadows), but less than Safari. IE was by far the slowest on both platforms and had the greatest number of issues with displaying numerous things.
Well, the page is useable in about 5 seconds on a mac and about 7 seconds on a windows machine even though some features continue to load.
I've discussed this with someone who makes his living working on Macs and he did tell me that there are still numerous issues with iWeb that he hopes will be remedied with the next update.
I may have to live with some of the limitations (which are not consistent) until the update is available.

  • How do I change the font size and color in a text box in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (ctrl e does not work)?

I need to mark up scanned pdf documents with text box comments. I can insert the text box and type text but I cannot change the font or color. When I press Crtl E, no tool bar appears in the menu bar. What does appear in the menu bar is "No current selection". Please advise.

I am already doing that: creating the text box, typing the text, selecting the text i.e. highlighting the text. This morning, for a scant minute, the properties tool bar appeared and I was able to refine the text in a text box. Then it disappeared never to be activated again this morning.
I work half of my weekly hours at this client office and I only have this problem on their pc and adobe software (version 9 pro). When I am home, my laptop and the adobe software (version 10 pro) is fine. I can create the text boxes and refine the format at will with no issues. Could it be a software version and/or update issue? Thanks for any assistance.

  • Text boxes and exporting to pdf

I am making my wedding invitations in PAGES. I have inserted a text box on the sheet, and have the text box outlined by a light grey line so when it comes time to cut the invites, I have a guide. I have adjusted the page margins so that there are no margins. The corner of one of the text boxes is flush with the corner of the page (thus only 2 lines of the text box show).
I exported this to PDF, and it looks great. I print it on my prnter at home, and everything looks great. However, when I print the PDF from my PC at work, the text box is no longer flush along the edge of the paper, I can see the complete outline of the text box. I thought as soon as it is in PDF format that it should not change no matter what printer you are using.
    Help?

    Three possibilities:
1 The text box has an opaque background
2 You have a drop shadow off the text box.
3 You have some kind of stroke on the box.
Turn them off by setting them to none in the appropriate tab in the Inspector

  • How can I extract the last 4 numbers of the SSN to be auto-populated in another text box?

I'm creating a form for my place of business and need to figure out how to extract the last 4 numbers from a Social Security Number formatted text box into another text box that just asks for the last 4 numbers.  Can anyone help me please?

A very similar thing was discussed recently in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1071629?tstart=0

  • How do I save a font and it's size and color in a text box as a default

I am using Adobe Acrobat XI for Mac and can't figure out how to set a default font for text boxes. I don't seem to be able to access the properties to set the default by highlighting a properly formatted text box and pressing ctrl-e. Is there another key combination for Mac? Or another method for setting defaults? I'm finding I have to set the font, size and color every time I open a new Acrobat doc and want to add a text box. Also, the choices are not even saving with the document. The fonts already typed save correctly, but on reopening, I have to reset if I want to add more text.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tom Carlson

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a Logitech G700S Mouse with a right click button, so right-clicking isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the I can't seem to find the menu to "Use Current Properties as New Defaults." I may not have described the problem correctly.
I am adding text to a pre-existing pdf document, not creating a form. I would like to be able to set a default font, size and color for text, so that when I enter text in a text box onto the pdf document, it has those properties. If I select the text box that is properly formatted (not the text, but the box) and right click, the only choices I get are:
    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Select All
    Deselect All
    Arrange>
    Edit Using>
So I gues my question is if one can even format a text box as a default or a "style" or the like. I tried setting a default font, size and color for "comments" also in the Acrobat preferences, but even that didn't seem to stick when I opened a new doc. This all may just be a Mac / Mavericks interaction flaw. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Acrobat Pro 9, blank lines in text boxes vanish upon save

    Folks,
Since I upgraded from Acrobat Pro 8 to 9, whenever I put blank lines in a text box, the blank lines disappear as soon as the PDF is saved.
    Here's an example:
    - Open a PDF file
    - Click on text box tool in the toolbar (or from menu Comments->Comments and markup Tool->Text box tool
    - Draw a box on the PDF page somewhere
    - Enter "First line", then hit Return twice to add a blank line below, enter "Second line"
    - Right now my text box contains two lines of text separated by a blank line
    - Hit save
    - Blank line vanishes in the text box. Now the two text lines are on adjacent rows.
This did not happen in either Acrobat Pro 7 or 8. I've been using textboxes consistently for years without this silly behavior.
Any suggestions? I've looked through forums and knowledge bases and such to no avail.
I have acrobat pro version 9.0.0 running on XPSP3.
    Thanks!
    Petros

    Hello Petros,
I figured out how to make this work, at least on my computer.  Hold CTRL key and hit ENTER.  This leaves the space.  Hope this works for you.

  • IPhoto books- Delete text boxes?

For several pages in an iPhoto book I am making, I do not want any text or descriptions. However, there are empty text boxes whose outlines are still showing up. I don't want the pages to print with the text box outlines. There is nothing typed in the boxes and I have tried deleting them, but I can't figure out how to.
For the portfolio theme, the layout options include the text boxes. All the pictures are situated how I want them, but I just don't want the text box rectangles showing up. Any suggestions?

Most page layouts offer one with and without text boxes. Check the layout menu at the bottom to see if there's not one without text for your theme.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Linked Text Box

I'm using iBooks Author Version 2
I am unable to find how to link text boxes.  There is reference to selecting "Format --> Text Box -->  Add linked text box" but that option is always ghosted for me no mater what I try!
I'm making my own layout on a page.  I've put a text box in the first column and I'd like to link the text to a text box at the top of the next column on the same page.
I'm seeing a + at the bottom of the text box, indicating there is more text.  It would seem logical to click that + to link it to another box, but I'm unable to click on the +, no matter how hard I try!
Your help on this is appreciated.

Thank you for your effort in drafting this response. Perhaps I wasn’t clear in stating my dilemma(s) in this instance.
I have successfully used Pages (though its several iterations, to date) in publishing, among other things, newsletters for local interest groups – to my great and continuing satisfaction. I previously have used virtually every bell and whistle in Inspector to produce (if I may immodestly say so) great looking copy in tried-and-true templates I designed.
    THIS problem is different.
I started with multiple blank pages in both the WP and then Layout mode.
I then put a blank text box on a blank page 1, and alternately, linked multiple blank text boxes on the additional blank pages. All, before attempting to paste the desired text.
In neither instance did that pasting of the multiple pages show, either as a continuance of text from blank pg. 1 to 2,3,4 etc, OR on the blank, linked text boxes following pg. 1, i.e. 2,3,4 etc.
    Even with multiple attempts.
I’m leaving something out, somehow, and neither the Manual nor my experience is helpful in solving this anomaly.
