Submission forms in Dreamweaver MX?

I'm trying to create a submission form in Dreamweaver MX. Users can fill in any of the fields they wish, and upon clicking the "Submit" button, the information is sent to my email address. Examples of the fields the users fill in include general comments and file uploading. I was able to get the form itself working, but I my question regards the submission of the form.
At first, I tried using Formmail to have the form submitted to my email. This did work, but I was wondering if Dreamweaver MX comes with anything that does the same thing? In other words, is there a feature in MX that allows submitted forms to be sent to my email address? And if so, how do I enable this feature?
Thanks for the help.

No. You need to obtain a form mail (server side) script. You might start by checking with your host to see if they have something that works with your hosting plan.

Making the HTML form is easy but the form processing script which collects data & sends it to your email is not quite so simple.   Start with your web host.  Ask them if they have form-to-email processing scripts you can use.  If they don't, find out which scripts your hosting plan supports (php, asp, asp.net, perl, coldfusion, etc...)

  • Question on advice on timing of when to submit hands on submission form

In [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] support-faq's the question (accessed as of time of this post)
    Q. Do I need to complete all the tests in my certification path within a set period of time or in a specific order?+Has the follwing answer:
Requirements for Oracle Certifications do not need to be completed in a specific order.
It is recommended that a candidate complete the training prior to sitting for an exam, but it is not required.
*The Course Submission Form should be completed after all other requirements have been met.*I cant recall if the FAQ has changed, but IMHO previous best practice was to submit Hands on course form immediately after qualifying hands on course was taken to minimize delay in time obtain success kit. Is the advice or requirement now different?

        4. Visit http://my-site.com/scripts/form_check.php in a web browser and make sure you see all green checkmarks. If some items do not display green checkmarks that means that the hosting server is not configured correctly to allow the Form widgets to send email messages to the address you've specified.
Contact your web-hosting provider about the server configuration problem. Describe the items that are not marked as green in the form check page, so that they can help you set up the servers to use the correct settings.

  • Forms with Dreamweaver CS4?

    Hi All,
Does anyone have a link or tutoral on how to create a form in Dreamweaver CS4. I need to make a "Request a Catalog" Form.
I especially might need the most help on figuring out on how to receive the info thru my email.

HTML forms don't do anything without an Action.  You can use Mailto: but this is just asking for Spam and limits the usefulness of your form.  Your best solution is to use a form processing script with spam controls built in.
Ask your host if they offer any form-to-email processing scripts you can use... or which flavor script you can use on your server (PHP, ASP, ASP.net, ColdFusion, etc...)

  • Dynamic Forms in Dreamweaver?

    Hi guys,
We hav a project using livecycle designer; but that relies on the user having adobe reader and in early user testing some folks complain about having to install it (WOW_i mean it's free, great, and takes two minutes!!!)
So we thought we might build what are essentially backup versions of the forms in dreamweaver. So if a user has not adobe reader (and wont install it) they can click "use browser version"  and go to a dreamweaver form.
Now we're new to dreamweaver (totally new this week.)
So can someone just confirm that we're thinking this through correctly.
We need to be able to mimic livecycle form behaviours
Basically can we have the following in dreamweaver:
Have multi-page forms (or really long layouts/whatever) - in livecycle some of the forms are about 10 a4 pages and we need this kind of room i
          guess here also.......
hidden subforms that are shown on a click event
flowed structure - so hidden fields once shown push the rest down etc - so sequencing is preserved
button to email user entered data to a server system?
Our forms just need to be able to cater to lots of options - we do this in livecycle ones by having lots of subforms hidden and showing the one that corresponds to their choice or user entered data.
Just want to know if we're barking up the right tree in thinking of using dreamweaver? and also if there are better/simpler choices out there (other than saying tough install reader you lazy sods )
if dreamweaver is  goer what books/resources would you recommend for getting started coming from livecycle/acrobat background.
    Thanks folks

hidden subforms that are shown on a click event
JavaScript. You are thinking too oversimplified here. it still needs to have the logic, does it not? The only way to do that in browsers is to use JavaScript.
flowed structure - so hidden fields once shown push the rest down etc - so sequencing is preserved
Spry Accordeon and its friends. Again, all JavaScript.
button to email user entered data to a server system?
Well, but what server system? You will need PHP, ASP, JSP or whatever to actually process the forms.
Just want to know if we're barking up the right tree in thinking of using dreamweaver?
As I said - you are grocely oversimplifying and in addition you are "spoiled" by the simplicity LifeCycle forms offer (no offense). So more or less it depends on how you actually will use your infrastructure. Custom developing a lot of code would only make sense if you use the system almost every day and in large numbers. For everything else you can find pre-made solutions like Wordpress with cforms or otehr widget-based, interactively configurable form generators. Requires only minor coding and styling, but supports quirte a few features from the start...

  • How do I create a message board/forum using forms in Dreamweaver?

I want to create a forum or messageboard using the form in Dreamweaver but I don't know how to do it. Is there any guidance on how I could create a message board or forum on Dreamweaver?

I don't think it can be done with just dreamweaver,
You will have to download something like PHPBB,
If you have a host with fantastico deluxe you can easily set up a forum
    with it.

  • Trouble Creating Forms in Dreamweaver

    Hello,
I am having trouble creating a form in Dreamweaver for my website.  The form is fairly basic, just some contact/comment input required.
I created my webpages using Fireworks CS4 and exported them as HTML and Images.  The basic format of my website is to have a rectangular block in the middle of the page, where the form elements are supposed to be entered.  However, it seems that I cannot simply add a textbox or textarea to the middle of my page.  If I try, everything gets shifted around very strangely.
How can I leave the format of the page intact, but add in the form elements (name, email, comments)?
You can see the page here: http://www.wafflesnjoe.com/preview/contact.htm
    Thank you

Thanks Murray, I had a feeling that that's where I'd be headed.
Is there a more seamless way of transferring webpages from Fireworks to Dreamweaver, such as CSS and Images, that would make it easier for me to work in Dreamweaver?
Would you recommend building websites in Dreamweaver, and not bother with Fireworks?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a newbie.

Subject: Trouble Creating Forms in Dreamweaver
I'm not very familiar with Dreamweaver, so this may be a basic question to ask.
The trick is to be familiar with HTML, not DW, since HTML underlies everything that DW does, and that you want to do on a web page.
To add a form to a page without disrupting the layout of the page, you have to a) select a layout design that constitutes good practice, and b) build the layout so that it accommodates the form.  I know that's not a very satisfactory answer.
First of all, unless you are fairly familiar with HTML, your layout will not be easy to implement because you will need to constrain the form and its elements to fit vertically within that central area.  This is not so easy because you have no way of controlling how large or small I (as a visitor) am displaying my text in my browser.  Thus, that form's content is going to expand or contract vertically causing the boxed area to need to expand or contract accordingly.  This is layout 101 for an experienced developer, but may just push you over the edge if you have no HTML under your belt.  So, I would discourage you from trying to use this design.  Is that possible?

  • Forms in Dreamweaver - Where's the CGI?

I can build a form in Dreamweaver to collect information that
I want users to submit to a database or text file on the server.
In order for this form to work I must specify an ACTION which
is the CGI script on the server. The server (Linix) has some
scripts pre-installed in the CGI-BIN but it seems to me that I need
a script that will match my form.
Do I need to learn to write CGI scripts or is there an
automated process that builds the script based on the form?

    > Do I need to learn to write CGI scripts or is there an
    automated process
    > that
    > builds the script based on the form?
A form sends data back to the server. Something on the server
    has to process
this data and do something with it. It can be a CGI script or
    other server
side code (ASP, PHP, CF, etc.)
If your web host already has a CGI script for you to use, you
    should be able
to get instructions from them on how to use it with your form
    that you
    created.

  • Required "Ledger" parameter in FSG submission form

    Hello friends,
As you know, we can generate FSG report across ledger (across SOB in 11i) and consolidate financial statement across ledger. Generally, we may set up different ledger for different report column in column definition.
But in R12, there's a required parameter "Ledger" in FSG submission form. What does that mean and how does it works? It makes me a little confused on FSG multi-ledger feature.
Could you help explain it for me? If I select this parameter, in fact I must to select it, how the FSG works? And how can I run FSG across ledger?
    Thank you.
    Best regards,

    Hello Nappy
D&D doesn't work in the "Program Lines" node.
You can access the elements of the structure by explicitly mentioning it in the Input/Output parameters. Once you do so you can use it like a normal variable.

  • Course submission form question

    Hi,
In the future i'm planning to be an Oracle Database 11g DBA OCP, and i have read about exams to pass, requirements and so on. After i pass 1Z0-151 exam, i've read i should complete one of the approved advanced courses (at STEP 2 - COMPLETE TRAINING). So:
OCP candidates must complete one of the instructor-led in-class, online , or recorded courses below (includes Live Web Classes – LWC,Live Virtual classes – LVC and Training On-Demand course) to obtain this certification. Self-Study CDs are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the course requirement for certification.
And after this, and passing 1Z0-053 exam, the candidade should complete a course submission Form.
But why the candidate should pay a so expensive course if he wants to become a DBA OCP? If I have, for example, study materials, books, and any other resources, and if i learn INDEPENDENTLY (and maybe based on a previous experience), WHY i have to pay/participate to a instructor-led in class or online course?
    Here http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99 there is written:
The Course Submission Form is a tool for certification candidates to submit their required training details for verification. This form is required in order to obtain most Oracle Certified Professional and Oracle Certified Master certifications as well as some Expert Program certifications.
But why verify candidates, if the candidate followed a personal training, and based on the experience?I don't understand this requirement, and my opinion is that this is for Oracle only a money maker source.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: Roger22 on 01.04.2012 21:06

I agree with some people's comments who said this is most of time completely useless (to pay ~2k euro for a 5 day course, so VERY expensive!), so this course submission form is a stupid thing.
Personally if i was that Oracle person who introduced this, i should not have requested any attendance for any courses at all. People who are working on these technologies for years and having experience, they don't need to attend any course to become OCP or even OCM, they should pass the exams without any courses.
But this is my opinion only:)
    Thanks

  • Error in Submission Form for WWDC 2015 Student Scholarship

    Hi everyone,
When I was submitting the application for WWDC 2015 student scholarship, I found there's a bug in the submission form. My fields got reseted when I pressed 'submit'. My friends who have successfully submitted told me it's supposed to have a 'thank you' page and option to withdraw the application in the account.
I've tried clearing the cache, switching between browsers, using friend's laptop and also different WiFi Network but no luck. Is there anything else I can do?

Ketan: Yes, I am editing it from Adapter Factory. Its a bit weird as the info is definitely available and is used by at least 2 other prepop adapters.

  • Need help creating a simple form in Dreamweaver CS3!!

I'm trying to create a form in Dreamweaver CS3, and while I have the form built I'm confused as to how to make it actually function.  What I'm trying to do is create a form that when the visitor clicks submit, the data is emailed to me.  Can someone help me figure out how to accomplish this?
    Thanks so much!

Ute's answer is spot on - you need a FormMail script to process the form.  Check with your host (or via the control panel) and see if they supply such a form for free.
If not, google for "formail script' and you'll find quite a few available - all free to use.
You just need to add a couple of lines to your html code, change a few things in the formmail script and the form will process.  Sounds complicated but most scripts come with a help file to help you get off the ground.
