SUBMIT AS FDF DOESN'T WORK IN READER X

I have a number of pdfs that were created in Acrobat 6.0.  They have submit buttons that permit the data to be e-mailed via a FDF.  All previously worked without difficulty.  Today I updated to Reader X.  I discovered that when completing the pdf in Reader X, and depressing the submit button I receive error of "One of the specified recipients is not resolvable."  When I use Acrobat it works fine.  It worked fine in the past with Reader also--that is until I updated to X today.
Any idea what the problem is?  I'm using Thunderbird 5.0 for my e-mail.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

This was happening to me with a form I created in acrobat Pro X and was testing using Reader X (accessing the fillable form from the internet so I want to make sure people can use it) for submitting.  This general preference change fixed my problem but I can't fix it for all the visitors on my website (no way to set this in the form itself after it is opened?) I can get the file to attach and create an email but only if I leave off the email address (I just enter 'mailto:' in the URL). Please let me know if anyone out there has a possible solution that will work for the web - I have an order form that can be filled out online.

    I designed a form that will successfully submit a filled out PDF form to my email address using LiveCycle Designer 7.0
    If I open it using Acrobat Pro 7.0, it will successfully submit. When I open it in reader 9, it will not. I click the submit button and nothing happens. I am using Outlook '07.

    Have you enabled "Extended Form Rights for Reader" for the PDF?
    Without the name of the Reader product explains it all.

  • Embedded PDF object .postMessage doesn't work with Reader DC on IE

    In our application, we have PDFs embedded in the browser with an object tag such as this:
    <object id="pdfObject" width="100%" height="100%" type="application/pdf" data="#{url}"></object>
    There are HTML/Javascript controls on the page which communicate with the PDF via this syntax:
    document.getElementById("pdfObject").postMessage([arg])
    This has been working great with Adobe Reader versions 10+.  It actually still works with Reader DC on Firefox.  However, there is a problem with Adobe Reader DC on Internet Explorer version 11.
    All I can tell so far is the "postMessage" function isn't appearing.  Using IE dev tools:
    document.getElementById("pdfObject").postMessage
    Object doesn't support this property or method
    Any help with this would be amazing.  It is a critical part of our application here.

    My application has two-way communication between browser and embedded PDF.  Basically a user clicks a button on the browser and via Javascript the embedded PDF form is submitted.  Everything was working before the update to Reader DC, but now it fails in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox (or Chrome, if the Reader plugin isn't disabled entirely by their new default disable-NPAPI plugin policy...)
    I originally was troubleshooting communication from the browser to the embedded PDF, which is done according to the Javascript for Acrobat API reference (page 358?), in the browser, as follows:  document.getElementById('pdfObject').postMessage([args])
    Whatever is happening, postMessage is not a valid property or method of the PDF object
    Then I found this other thread:
    Adobe Reader DC: hostContainer not worked on IE
    I confirmed that within the embedded PDF, when setting up communication from the PDF to the browser, it is not able to register the hostContainer (again, on IE only)
    I have this script on initialization within the PDF:

    Problem is this.hostContainer is null.
    The main point here is all of this was definitely working before updating to Reader DC, and is still working with DC on Firefox, but not on IE.
    To complicate things further, I have now uninstalled DC and downgraded to Reader 11.0.10.32, and am having a new bug, this time hostContainer is detected and communication to and from the PDF works again, but the submitForm action is failing with "Unable to open URL to submit this form" and "External undefined: exec".  Testing the exact same version and script with Firefox works fine

  • Previous Email submit on form doesn't work

    I had a beautiful form I had created months ago. It had an email submit button (that worked), that would send to multiple people, and not to me.
    Now, all of a sudden, the email submit had defaulted to MY email address, and in LiveCycle when I tried to fix it, I get the triangle with the exclamation mark over the button in design view saying the email address is invalid. It's not even supposed to send to me...
    Can anyone provide insight on this, in easy to understand terms?

    I have LIveCycle ES 8.2 which hasn't been changed since installation a year ago.
    The way I was told from Adobe to create the email submit was to use the regular "button" object and make the control type "submit", etc. I've tried to redo the button and I'm still getting the error in LiveCycle. Any ideas? The "email submit" object button has never worked properly for me.
    Maybe the code is getting deleted on mine too? I don't know code very well so it's hard for me to tell.

  • Submit doesn't Work in Reader online, but does on desktop??

    HI folks,  I had a form that was working online, but now is not (with Reader update? )   
    If I open the form in Reader 10 on my desktop and click submit, it asks appropriately if I want to use a desktop app or web app. 
    I have tried using Submit with XFDF ata, FDF and Full PDF but none work online for me or my clients. 
    I have enabled or extended Rights to Reader under the advanced menu. 
    Now the problem appears to be related to online viewing with the embedded reader plugin in the browser, which opens the form in a web page. Attempting this in Firefox forces a download, which fixes the problem.  So I either need a way to fix this for online viewing or force a download when someone has the browser plugin.
    Any suggestions?  TIA!!!!

    ALSO,  if I open it in IE 9, and choose to open the file, it opens in Adobe Digital Editions, and it cannot be modified, the forms cannot be filled out.
    This really is a mess of a program...

  • Submit Form button doesn't work in interactive form opened in Reader created in InDesign6

    One of the features I was really looking forward to  in CS6 was creating fillable forms with ONE application. I created a form following the step by step instructions in classroom in  a book for CS6.  When I opened the exported form in Reader X, I get a "This operation is not permitted" error. I opened the completed "end" document in the lesson to make sure  I didn't commit an error, and I got the same message when exporting. I have looked for places in menus to modify security restrictions and I can't find any. I installed the updates and that didn't solve the issue.
    I saw one solution posted which is to open the document in Acrobat, then do a "save as" option.   Is there anything we can do that doesn't involve buying additional software? If this is not the case, then Adobe seriously needs to change its training and advertising about this functionality.

    While I'm at it, here's a quote from Adobe's website, describing the Forms functions in InDesign CS6:
    Using InDesign you can create simple forms within InDesign, without needing to touch up the PDF document in Acrobat after publishing. You can add simple form elements within the document pages. Common field types such as text fields, radio buttons, check boxes, or signatures are supported. You can also add actions to submit the form by email or to print it.
    No...no, I can't.

  • Submit by email doesn't work in Acrobat Reader to send PDF

    I am making a fillable PDF and users on Acrobat Reader cannot email pdf, only data file. I need them to be able to send a pdf. What am I doing wrong?

    Don't use the regular "'submit by email button." If you use this button, you can only submit the data as XML. Instead, make your own button.
    In the Object library under Standard objects, click and drag a plain button to your form. Change the Control Type to Submit. Now you should have a new tab called Submit with a "submit to URL" option.  In that field type the return email address in the following format:  mailto:[email protected]  Toward the bottom of the same option, there is a field that says "submit" and the choice is XML data package.  Change that to PDF.  Then change the name of the button to "Submit by Email."  Now when you preview your form and click the Submit by Email button, it should mail the completed form as a PDF instead of simply mailing the raw data.

    I have some forms that use spry validation, everything works
    great and as expected in IE, but in Firefox the validation fails to
    work on submit of the form, but does work onblur of the text box's?
    so it partially works just not on form submit. So if someone came
    and just clicked the submit button the form wouldn't validate, but
    if someone did what they are suppose to and fill in name, email...
    the validation works as you tab to the next form element.
    I don't have the website online, to show... any idea's, why
    this may happen only in firefox?

    If you can't post your page on the web for others to see,
    then perhaps you can paste the relevant markup/code. For example,
    what type of inputs are you using? You said "text box" do you mean
    a TextArea or a TextField? What does the widget constructor for
    that particular validation field look like? What does the markup
    look like, including the markup for the <form> tag?
    We're going to need more info due to the fact that some of
    these validation widgets have multiple configurations (types of
    validation).

    There is a property "Destination Function" on Submit buttons.
    What is the purpose of this field.
    I tried setting some values here expecting following behavior in order:
    1. Process Form Request will get executed.
    2. User will be navigated to the OAF page related to the Destination Function.
    Destination Function property probably point to setInvokeFunction method of the OASubmitButtonBean.
    Please advise on this.

  • No "Submit to SAP" button, the submit button offered doesn't work

    Hello everyone,
    I am working with the interactive forms and I have tried going through the PDF about how to use an RFC with the interactive forms.  During the tutorial, they say to add a button called "Submit to SAP", but I don't have one.  I have groupings for Web Dynpro ActiveX and Web Dynpro Native, but neither of those have a "Submit to SAP" button, only regular submit buttons.  I have tried adding these submit buttons, but neither one actually submits my data.  When I click on them in the form nothing happens.
    I am running NWDS 7.0.10

    We had the same problem and when we installed ACF on the client machine it resolved the problem.

    Also, does this problem exist even when the Submit button is placed outside the Adobe form?

  • I have set up a override box for a simple calculation but it appears that it doesn't work in reader just pro.

    Here is what I have in the JavaScript Editor and it works when I use Adobe Acrobat Pro but when I download this pdf form to our extranet (which uses reader) I am unable to change the value when the override box is checked.  I have very limited knowledge of javaScript so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    In the SALE box I am trying to override I have:

    Are you sure you're using Adobe Reader? This code should work fine there.

  • Acrobat 11 install looks good but doesn't work  (Adobe Reader has stopped working)

    Win 7 64-bit laptop.  Download/install from Adobe site looks fine, but can't successfully open existing PDF file.  Page one of the PDF appears, but then error message above with the following text appears:  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program a notify you if a solution is available.  Previous release of Reader all worked fine.  Recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X and Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin.  I think (but could be wrong) that Reader XI was fine before this. 
    Clearly this is a show-stopper issue re: my use of Reader.  Please advice.  Thanks!

    Some things to try...
    Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
    If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
    It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • My mask doesn't work for reading bits

    the following table represents a stream of bits. within the bits are certain fields that i need to be able to read, and extract. I tried writing code to do pretty much exactly what I need, but the mask isn't working. here is the exact situation of what I have:

  • Print as image doesn't work Adober Reader X

    Recently, I tried to print out a 'For Sale' .pdf file available from autotrader.com and it split the image into two parts and didn't print out as displayed on the computer screen with an hp d2445 deskjet printer. I tried to follow a suggestion found in the forums for Adobe Reader that says to mark the 'Print as image' box in the advanced print setup part of the Adobe Reader program to no avail.
    What should I do in this situation beyond check marking this box?
    I did try another printer on another machine and it printed correctly. I called hp about this problem and they said that it was likely a problem with the Adobe Reader software or a problem with the driver for the hp d2445 printer which was purchased in 2009 but is now considered obsolete in 2011. It seems to me, that if it looks ok on the screen it should print out ok on the printer, though. So, I was disappointed for this printer. I also tried to reinstall windows 7 32 bit home premium, and reinstalled the drivers for the printer from hp.com to no avail. The troubleshooting utility for the printer indicates that all systems are go.

  • Time machine doesn't work because reads the wrong disk size

    Time machine started insisting I had not enough space on the disk. Normally it would delete old backups and get on to it. But this time I kept getting the "disk full"or  "not enough space message" (do not remember witch one). So I formatted the disk, many times. The message stuck.
    No I checked what Time Machine itself was seeing, and it is pretty weird. Time Machine thinks it is a 700mb disk, while it is a 1Tb one as you can see below.
    It was working well enough, thank that started.
    Any thoughts?

    The first screenshot shows the amount of data on the volume, not its capacity. Apparently it's not large enough to hold all the data you're trying to back up, including about 20% of padding that Time Machine requires.
