Submit as PDF

Hello,
I read some posts on the forum, regarding the "Submit as PDF" which said that, for this option to work, either the form need to be Rights Extended or the end-user should use Acrobat. I just want to make sure whether there are any updates to the feature.
My end users has Adobe Reader 8.x version installed. I tried to use the "Submit as PDF" option from Reader, and nothing is getting submitted.
Can anyone please confirm with Adobe Reader 9.x, can we submit a form as PDF or not.
And also is there any way of getting the "Submit as PDF" functionality without going for Acrobat and Rights Management.
Thanks in advance
Sivajee.

Hi Sivajee,
1) To get the form to submit as PDF you have to make the Control Type in your Object Pallete - Field Tab - Submit then goto the Submit Tab and choose PDF in the Submit As dropdown.
2) Save your form and reopen with Reader, Advance menu and select Extend Features in Adobe Reader. Save it up and deliver to your client.
This is what I have figured out through reading. Let me know if how it works out.
Regards,

  • How to calculate the total of bytes transferred when I submit a PDF Form in A. Reader

    Hello,
I need to know some way for calculate the total of bytes transferred when I submit a PDF form using JavaScript, hereby:
    b ******************************************************************
    i var service_url = http://some_webservice/;
    i var send_type = "PDF";
    i var doc = event.target;
    i doc.submitForm( { cURL: service_url, cSubmitAs: send_type } );
    b ******************************************************************
    b The reason:
I need to indicate the percentage of bytes sent to the server, in real time. Adobe Acrobat shows a progress bar and the transferred quantity in bytes, but Adobe Reader doesn't. Is in this case, when I need to find a way in order to make something similar.
b Than you for your time.

You can use SharePoint Designer and calculate the total in xslt view. Refer to the following post for more information

  • Submit Email PDF in Acrobat X Pro / LiveCycle ES2

I'm pulling out my hair trying to get this form I created to email back the filled out pdf. I've spent a couple of days searching like crazy trying to figure out how to fix this issue.
I created a fillable pdf form using LiveCycle ES2. I created the button to submit via email. In the submit to URL field I have: mailto:[email protected] The Submit As: PDF. ( we do not need a subject line) I saved the document, opened it up in Acrobat X Pro, went to File, Save As, Reader Extended PDF, Enable Additional Features, clicked Save to Enable Usage Rights for Reader. (that's what every other search has said to do)
So, I send the form via email attachment to a co-worker to test it out. We fill out the form, click the Submit button... and nothing happens... again. The prompt asking which email client to use pops up, but that's it. I'm not sure what else to do. Can someone help please?!?!?!?!?!?

We'll need more information, such as OS, version of Acrobat/Reader is being used, what email client is being used, etc. Email is generally unreliable and not secure, adn whether is works seamlessly depends on whether the client machine is set up correctly.
Submitting to a web server is a more reliable approach that can be made secure relatively easily.

  • Why can't I submit a PDF form online?

I have created a PDF form from a current design. I have then created a submit button with the action to "mailto:[email protected]"
I have then uploaded this onto a website, and when the user clicks it, fills out the form, and tries to press the "Submit" button, nothing happens. What am I missing?
Any details would help. I called Adobe but they said they couldn't help me. I am using Acrobat X Pro.

In order to submit the PDF, the default PDF viewer plugin for each browser must support it.
To enable Adobe Reader as the default PDF viewer see the following web page:
Acrobat Help | Display PDF in browser | Acrobat, Reader XI
Note: Not all PDF viewers support PDF submissions.

  • Submit the PDF over and over from web browser

    Hi,
I have created a submit button on a form and submititng to local server. My requirement is user should able to hit the Submit button over and over untill they close thye browser. Every time they hit thye submit button, I get updated data PDF.
I could able to do this only one time. It means, when I load the form first time from web broweser the "this.URL" variable in jvascript gives as http://localhost/xxx/yyy. After I Submit the button then this.URL gives as c://users/my user name/temp/xxx.pdf which can't submit to the URL. I am using a servlet to capture the pdf and sneding the entire pdf back to the server because user should able to see their PDF on browser. If I do not send the pdf back then it gives blank page.
    The question is
    1. Can I stay in the same PDF after I hit the Submit button.
    2. If issue #1 is not possible then how can I submit the PDF over and over without loosing it from broweser.
    Thanks,
    -Thiru

I tried sending the server response with 204 response code. That did not work. After I click the button in the form, the screen goes blank. Here I attached before and after results of this.
could you post sample FDF? Another questions is that my PDF form has signature signed with Topaz signpad. I believe, FDF handles these field values also.

  • How can recipients submit completed PDF forms using a MAC?

We have created fillable PDF forms using LiveCycle Designer 8.0.  They include
submit buttons that are set to submit the completed forms as PDFs.  Rights have been extended for Adobe Reader users.  They work great when the recipient is using a PC, but when they are using a MAC we have a number of problems:
    1) the Print and Submit buttons do not work
    2) when the recipient saves and e-mails the file manually, the data they entered is only visible when you click on that field
Help!  How can our MAC recipients submit their completed form as a PDF that displays all of the data!
    Thanks!

Thanks Niall.  This information proved really helpful in confirming the problem.  We ran some tests and the problem does seem to only occur when MAC recipients are using Preview.
We recieved this link from Adobe, which provides a solution if you have access to all the recipients:

Thanks to Niall and Paul for all your help!

  • Submit signed pdf form to url returns to local view of url

    Hello,
I am currently using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8, Adabe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Reader 9.
I want to make a form that can be filled and signed with Reader. I created the form with the the designer and added a submit button that sends the page to a URL. I send the page as an PDF to the url.
I can create the form so far no problem. I also can make it fillable in the Reader. Filling in the form and signing in the Reader also works fine but when I perform the submit the result page in the browser isn't the url specified in de settings of the button.
The url is something like this: C:\Users\jt\AppData\Local\Temp\A9R9D46.htm
The content of the page is the one from the web page specified in the url where de PDF is submitted to but it has to be show in the specified location and not local in a temporary html file.
Does anyone know how I can go to the url specified in the submit button not locally but on the actual web page.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Acrobat Pro allows users to export the form data a number of different ways. For example, in Acrobat 7, use the menu item "Advanced > Forms > Export Data from Form...". There are also various JavaScript methods that allow one to export a data file (e.g., exportAsFDF).

  • Email submit button pdf file

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, Adobe Reader X, and LiveCycle Designer.
I have a pdf file that I would like to be sent back to me in pdf format when the submit button is clicked. I created the button in LiveCycle Designer, and Extended features to adobe Reader. I am able to have a outloook message pop up with the PDF attached when using the Adobe Acrobate Pro, but not the Adobe Reader. Also, I had to change settings to allow all websites in Trust Manager under the Preferences before the outlook message would open up. Can anyone help me get the submit button to work in Adobe Reader?

Here's how mine works, I put in the submit button, and in the submit dialogue tab I type in "mailto:" in the URL address and select the "pdf" from the drop down menu under "submit as". Then save it as either a static or dynamic pdf, Reader enable it and open it in Adobe Reader. Now when you click your submit button, an email should open up ready to be addressed where ever you want to mail it, with your pdf as an attachement.
    I hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to submit a pdf form without redirecting my web page?

I have a fillable pdf form inside of a web page.  When a user clicks on a submit button I have the pdf calling the submitform method.  This redirects the web page to the url I specified inside of my pdf document.  I don't want the web page to be redirected.  I would like to have the pdf submitted to the server and know when I have handled the submission.  Is there a way to do this?

Normally you'd return an (X)FDF in this situation. It can contain content that causes an informative popup dialog to be displayed to the user, fill in form fields, and some other things. Are you able to reprogram the server to return an FDF instead of HTML?

  • How to submit a PDF document to spool request by coding

    Hi experts,
I have a pdf document that is stored somewhere in SAP system, for example MIME repository. So I can read this PDF document and get its content as an xstring.
I know SAP can print a smartform directly by calling its function module, or submit a program (list output) to SAP-SPOOL to generate a spool request.
But how can I submit a document or an xstring which presents the content of a document to spool request in order to print it out?
Or should I do it in some other way?
Any of the suggestion or hint will be help.
    Thanks!

We have checked it with SAP and it seems no solution for printing a pdf doc by coding.
The final workaround is to use an virtual printer or some converter on PC to convert the pages in that pdf document into BMP files. Then upload those BMP files in t-code se78 and build a smartform to include them.
It is convenient to use the printing function of smartforms in ABAP coding.

  • Submit a pdf instead of a picture How?

When browsing with safari on a websight I'ts only possible to submit a picture instead of a pdf with My CV. WHY?.

Did you set up iCab to use its own uploader.
    From its FAQ:
    iCab Support wrote:
In the Settings of iCab Mobile ("Network" settings) you can configure if iCab should use the upload capabilities of the iOS or the one from iCab Mobile.
Using the upload capabilities of the iOS will work on almost all web pages but is limited to photos and videos from the photo album and is only working under iOS 6 and later. Using iCab's own upload capability will allow to upload all file types, even under iOS 5, but it may not work on all web sites.

And of course have moved the file into iCab.

  • Email submit in PDF not XML

    Hi,
I need to create a PDF fillable form that will send a filled pdf
version to an email on submit.
The ones we have tried so far send an xml version of the form instead
    of the filled pdf version.
Also, is it possible to leave the email recipient empty to allow the
form to be sent to different people each time it's filled?
I am using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES8.2.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi
no need for response on this I worked it out from previous discussions - thanks.
Can anyone help with how I secure the data in a completed form that is submitted by email.  I've looked at data signatures but can't see how this will work when the form is accessible to the general public.
    Thanks in advance

  • Please Help--Can't fill out or submit/save .PDF forms

    Hi-
Running Safari 5.1.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (the latest updates according to software update) and using the Schubert PDF browser plugin. http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/
Before updating from Safari 5.0.xxxx I could fill out and submit .PDF forms in Safari without any issues. Now, I cannot. The form comes up but I cannot enter any text into the text fields.
About a month ago I went through this and had to revert back from a time machine back up because the ability to fill out forms in browser is an everyday necessity for me.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?? Please help...

Ok.. I still cannot get this figured out. I'm baffled and frustrated!!
I did a deep cache cleaning using Snow Leopard Cash Cleaner, all of your reccomendations, and about an hours worth of reading. I had the schubert-it plug in uninstalled and have gone back to reinstalling it with no luck. I was thinking after all the cache cleaning it might work. Nope..
I can't beleive this is an issue after an update.. Apple is normally so great with this stuff.
The com.adobe.reader folder does not exist on my computer.
This problem occurs with any online form, not just the ones I need to access and submit, and it occurs with the native PDF support in Safari as well as the schubert app.
Any other ideas? I read on one post where someone fixed it with quicktime, but the video he put up to show how he fixed it was no longer available.
Carolyn, or anyone else, .. any ideas??
