Submit button greyed

in compressor i cant submit a job as the submit button is always greyed out

HI Naramine, I'd propose the reason the "submit" button is greyed out is becaus ethe CLUSTER where you want to submit the job is probbaly not fully resolved. I'll assuem you are using Compressor.app V4 (the one with FCPX July 2011). Try this to see if this is true...
start up compressor.app
wait 30 seconds (seriously!.. unless you can determine that all the qmaster stuff has started.
use the Compressor.app | "Compressor" application menu | "Reset Background Processing..." - this could take a few mins depending on your host.
in Lion OSX 10.7.2, use your pen/track pad (or mouse thing) and hover over the COMPRESSOR.app icon in the dock. Then right gear down / control+click/ two fingers/ right mouse button on the COMPRESSOR.icon and see ifthere are any ACTIVE SERVICES there for a cluster. (Its likethe old compressor v3.5 in the meu bar that is not there in compressor v4)... what no tasks??? well then do the follow.. in fact do the following anyway...
use the Compressor.app | "Compressor" application menu | Apple Qmaster | Share this Computer | to get up the Qmaster Prerences... and do the following
in the setup tab uncheck both the Rendering and Compressor tick boxes. DONT UNTICK THE "SHARE THIS COMPUTER".. yet.. you will do this next. This step gracefully shutdown the rendered and compressor subtasks.Reply oK and your password....then
in the go back into the QMaster prefs as above and in the setup tab uncheck "share this computer". This seems toterminte the qmaster task. reply ok and your password. NO qmaster should be mostly shitdown except the controller I beleiev.
now QUIT compressor.app
IN this step, please move or DELETE the your-home-directory/Library/Application Support/Apple Qmaster folder (~/Library/Application Support/Apple Qmaster). Qmaster will rebuild this.. no worries!
restart/Launch Compressor.app V4
use the Compressor.app | "Compressor" application menu | Apple Qmaster | Share this Computer & go in and resetup your cluster.  Under options setthe number of compressor instances to this rule of thumb compressor instances = rounddown(Amount of RAM in GB / 2) ... this is used for SEGMENTED TRANSCODING (use segmenting). If you dont need Rendering (Shake Maya, Nuke) then leave Rendering unchecked. YOu can use a Quickcluster howevere I've found for me and others that a managed cluster (use Apple Qadministrator.app) seems peculiarly more reliable... beats me.
now take a breath for 30 secs to a minute.... wait for Qmaster to get up an running.... then.
in Compressor.app, Mount the cluster storage .. (+shIft+M). Now this is a good test. IF THE CLUSTER NAME COMES UP IN THE LIST it means THAT THE CLUSTER infrastucture is working.... no please be patient here.. this could take a minute or two.. depending on your system.. and also do
in Lion OSX 10.7.2, use your pen/track pad (or mouse thing) and hover over the COMPRESSOR.app icon in the dock. Then right gear down / control+click/ two fingers/ right mouse button on the COMPRESSOR.icon and see ifthere are any ACTIVE SERVICES there for a cluster. You should see the number of compressor services to be the number of instances you specified earlier in step 11.
now... add a movie and try to submit the batch to the cluster. Hopefully the submit button will not be greyed out. (DONT SUBMIT FROM FCPX just yet..... just add a job a movie in Compressor to see if it works).
Summary: yo hav cleaned out compressor's state information and by using the steps 13 and 14 you can be assured that the cluster is there. DOnt rely too much on teh Share Monitor.app.. it seems to break a bit...

  • Submit Button Greyed Out (v 4.0.5)

I have been using Compressor successfully for about a year.  Recently it updated to v4.0.5.   Now I am not able to submit, with the final Submit button greyed out.  I have checked my Destination folder permissions and all appear correct.
What could be the cause of this, and what shall I do?  I need to render a program urgently for broadcast.
    Thanks
    Geoff

    I just resolved a similar problem.  I am running OSX 10.6.8 on a MBP 13" 2010.
Once inside Compressor I'd click on "submit" and the drop down window would show "none" next to "Cluster:" and the submit button was greyed out.
I called Apple Care and they had me delete the preference file "com.apple.Compressor.plist" file from my user>library>preferences folder.  This did not fix the problem on its own.
They then had me delete the Apple Qmaster folder from user>library>application support.  This did not fix the problem on it's own.
I then reinstalled the Compressor application itself.  This did not fix the problem on its own.
I then verified permissions and repaired permissions using disk utility.  This did not fix the problem on it's own.
I then clicked on "Share Monitor" which is found on the Compressor task bar.  "This Computer" was displayed in the left column.  I simply clicked on it in order to high light it.  I left the "Share Monitor" window open and went back to the submit panel and "This Computer" was now displayed next to "Cluster:" and the program is now working again.
    YMMV.

  • Why is Submit Button Greyed Out on Compressor

Just recently, I have been unable to submit a video for compression. As always, I drag on the compression I want to use and select the destination. I hit the first submit buttn and the window drops down asking for the name of the batch. I enter the name but on this window the submit button is greyed out and I cannot submit the project for compression.
I looked at past instances of this problem and I downloaded and ran Compresser Repair 2.2, but the problem remains.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have never had this problem before.

    Russ,
No worries. Yesterday, I brought the Apple Clean Install instructions to pointed out to me to my IT guy I had him do a clean intall of Compressor using the outline and the problem was solved. It took him an hour. It would have taken me 1/2 a day!
I did have one good bit of advice suggested by Jason Brown over at Creative Cow, but I didn't have time to research it - and my computer was already on my IT guy's bench. He said:
"Let me start by saying I'm not an expert...just a user, so I could be wrong.  BUT  I fixed my issue after installing fcpx, it moved compressor to a subfolder in applications, but not the Qmaster app. When I ran update, it updated Qmaster to 3.5.3 but compressor was just on 3.5  I took compressor out of that folder, ran update again and they were same version number. U can check version number by looking about under file menu. For Qmaster, select app, get info and its in there."
I think he is suggesting that Emaster and Compressor need simultanious updats, and to do that Apple has to be able to find the files. The fact that Apple has the clean install for Compressor so available and in multiple locations suggsts to me that this is a common problem.
One of the Creative Cow guys said that his production company does complete clean installs off all apps on all machines every 12 to 16 months!
Well, I declare this issue fixed, and thank you for all your help and advice. Hopefully, someone else will find this thread and it will be helpful to them.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Submit button greyed out in Compressor

All of a sudden when I try to compress a .mov the "Submit" button is greyed out. No matter what movie I try or what compression settings I try. Running FCP 7.0.3 MacBook Pro 2011 Lion 10.7.5. Plenty of space on HD, re-installed software, all usual troubleshooting.  When I drag the same movie to Compressor in my old Mac 2008 running snow leopard it lets me click "Submit."  Been running Compressor and Final Cut no problem till now.  Even compressed a movie tonight just fine.  Then, made some changes to the Final Cut Sequence, output new QT movie, bam - all of a sudden compressor won't work.  Can drag any settings onto the job, click submit button on the bottom, then when menu to name job drops down I can only click "Cancel" button.  "Submit" button is there but greyed out.
Right before this happened I "cancelled" a compression that was processing in the Batch window. Would that prevent me from starting something new?
Cannot seem to open the batch window to resume.
    Thank you,
    Patrice Shannon

It's probably lost its connection to Qmaster. Running this utility from Digital Rebellion often is enough to get the links reconnected.

Hi Everyone - I had this problem recently and your posts helped me get to the resolution for my issue.
    Submit button was greyed out.
I had recently done a software update, which may have created the issue.
    My Compressor was version 3.5.
My QMaster was now version 3.5.3.
Based on reading your posts, this may have been the issue.
    I found this update:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl949
I installed the software update, which updated my Compressor to version 3.5.3.  The updates take place in the applications folder, so after installing the update, I moved the Compressor icon to the desktop, replacing the old icon.
    Compressor works again.

  • Compressor 4.05: submit-button greyed out

When I want to submit a job in Compressor 4.05 the name/cluster/priority-window pops up but the 'submit' button there is greyed out.
I tried to run a small programm called Compressor_Repair but of no avail. Effectively Compressor 4.05 is useless now.
Until the last upgrade to 4.05 Compressor has always functioned.
Now what? Please don't tell me I have to uninstall Compressor and delete files from over 10 different folders before reinstalling again.

Called Applecare today. There was no quick solution and I'll receive an email with follow-up steps to make another user account and see if it happens again. Hopefully I can resolve the problem myself, otherwise I have to go back to Applecare and pay €90 for further support since it's been over 90 days that I purchased the "professional software".
In fact it's cheaper to purchase again
This is the full mail I received from Applecare, except signature:

  • Compressor Submit Button Greyed-Out SOLUTION!

Compressor and Apple Qmaster have to be in the same place!
Compressor would let me set everyting up but not the final "submit." It was greyed out.
Simple fix: In my case all I had to do was make sure Compressor and Apple Qmaster were in the same place. I had made a folder in my applications to put all my editing apps and MOVED Compressor into that folder but not Qmaster. I simply put compressor BACK into the regular APPLICATIONS area  and BAM-O! Done. Hope this brings relief.

Moving your FCS suite to a subfolder in Applications or another location altogeter is a bad idea.
All Apple software is placed on your system by the Installer app.
Along with the software you install, it places a .pkg file in the Receipts folder.
This package contains information on the software version, when it was installed and where.
It also contains information about the permissions that the software has.
Manually moving the software means that the information about the location of the programs is no longer correct.
Updates to the programs will be announced by the built in Software Updater because it works by looking at the info in the .pkg file. Occaisionally, it is also neccessary to run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
In both cases, the changes will not be applied because the programs are not in the correct location.

  • The submit button in Compressor 3.5 is greyed out when i attempt to submit a batch

The submit button on Compressor (3.5) is greyed out and will not allow me to submit a batch.  This problem appeared suddenly with no changes made to the settings.  Final cut has been scrubbed from the mac and reinstalled, but the problem persisted. I have downloaded and installed the Digital Rebellion  patch with no success.  Does anyone have a fix for this?
    Thank you

I had the problem with Submit button greyed out...
Tried trashing prefs for Compressor. Nothing changed.
Tried "Compressor > Preferences. ... Enter IP addresses..". Nothing changed.
Then i had a look at System Preferences for QMaster .... and tried to work out if anything was wrong ( looked through the instructions for setting up QMaster:  http://documentation.apple.com/en/appleqmaster/distributedprocessingsetupguide/i ndex.html#chapter=5%26section=2%26hash=apple_ref:doc:uid:TempBookID-ReplacedWhen AssociatingWithMessierRevision-90620CRE-1015456.....
.. at the end of the "To turn on cluster controller services" section.. it mentions
    "Click Start Sharing.
The cluster is enabled, making this computer a cluster controller."
    So i clicked start sharing.
    Compressor now works fine.
    Hooray!
(i don't have any idea why Sharing had stopped.. i haven't updated Final Cut Studio or the MacOS recently)

  • My submit button on my PDF form is greyed out (will not work) after posting link to PDF on my WordPress website. It works in Acrobat Reader just fine.

This is where you can see the form as clicked through to from the WordPress website page:
    http://pinetreeplayers.com/ptp_new/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/submit-a-play.pdf
The PDF file was created in Acrobat 11, with a submit button. The submit button is actioned to send the form via email. It works perfectly by itself if the form is opened in Acrobat Reader, but once I upload the PDF to my WordPress site the submit button is greyed out, and will not complete the action to send on-click.
How can I fix this please - can anyone offer advice?

Yes. They need to download Reader and then disable Google Chrome's internal PDF viewer and enable Adobe Reader.
FireFox should also be configured to use Adobe Reader and not the internal PDF viewer.
The internal viewers are created to process PDF documents by not including the features and code to process PDF forms.

  • Greyed out "Submit" button in Compressor 3.5.3

The "Submit" button is greyed out when I get to the point of submitting a job.  I have the sequence highlighted in FCP 7.0.3 when I "Send to...Compressor.  After dragging the "DVD Best Quality 90 min" icon into the "Untitled" area, I establish the "Source" by Right Clicking on the word "Source" and then go to "Destination", "Other".  After selecting a place for both the compressed audio and video file to reside, I press the "Submit" button.  At that point, where I have an option to name the file, I can only "Cancel", as the "Submit" button is greyed out.   I am on a Mac Pro, with Mac OS 10.7.5.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cluster (sub menu) submit button grayed out

    hello all
as of today my compressor has stopped allowing me to submit the batch i set up.
having sent an item from FCP to compressor, i get to set the options for settings and destination and then when i hit the submit button a second menu pops down regarding cluster options of which i have none. i add a name to this box yet no mater what other options i change the *submit button in this sub menu remains grayed out!*
    http://twitpic.com/jj7n2
i have tried reinstalling compressor, and eventually the whole suit. i have removed the various prefs and qmaster stuff. i have used the fix compressor utility from digital rebel, repaired permissions and cleared out cache, but still *grayed out submit*.
    what thoughts cloud genii?

    I'm having the same problem.
This comes after suffering persistent crashing of Compressor 3.5 on launch and finally having to reinstall to at least fix the crashing problem. But now I can't submit any processes - the button is greyed out.
Can't remember setting this up originally, but it use to say "This Computer" for processing - do I need to add my computer to a list of available processors?
    Any help hugely appreciated,
    Simon

  • I can't submit (button is gray)

Everything is all right, (I think) Settings destination, targets, ... But I simply can not submit.

    Hi there,
My first post. I had the same problem - when I clicked on submit in Compressor the drop down box appeared and in the Cluster box it said "none" and the submit button was greyed out. I've fixed mine and it works perfectly now. Here's how:
Go to System Preferences and select Sharing. A box appears with your computer's name at the top and a list of things you can share. Select File Sharing and to the right, it will say something like: FTP Access:On with a message underneath which contains your computer's IP address e.g 10.6.4.3. Make a note of this number.
Open Compressor and go to Compressor > Preferences. The Preferences Dialogue Box appears and at the bottom it says: Enter IP addresses or ranges for manually selected computers. Click on the + button at bottom left and then enter your computer's name and the IP address you noted earlier. Online will probably appear under status.
Next time you start a job in Compressor and click on submit the drop down box will now say This computer in the Cluster box and the submit button will no longer be greyed out - BINGO
this is what I did and it worked for me. Good luck.

  • Submit button in Compressor disabled after update Pro Applications Update 2010-02

    Dear all,
I recently bought FCS and the whole software works fine after installation. However, I had to use Compressor over the last couple of days and the submit button was completely disabled and in the cluster field the option this computer had dissapeard. I checked this forum for a solution and found it. It seems that the problem was Qmaster. After reinstalling both Qmaster and Compressor everything works again. I have use the following set of instructions:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/how_to_reinstall_compressor_and_qmast er.html
The problem is that now each time I do a software update, I am asked to install the Pro Applications Update 2010-02. After installing this update, the problem occurs again (the submit button is grayed/greyed out). It seems that in my computer the update creates a problem.
Does anyone have the same issue and if so, what suggestion you recommend?. At the moment I am avoiding the update, but I may me missing important bug and other fixes.
    Thanks a lot,
    Oliver

I have experimented a bit and got the problem sorted. Iuninstalled FCS using the uninstaller from http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/.Before installing the whole suite again, I realised there was and additionalApple Qmaster package in the Applications folder. I deleted this file and emptythe trash. Then did a fresh installation of FCS, performed an update andinstalled Pro Applications Update 2010-02.
And now all is up and running workingperfectly.

  • 2 Submit Buttons --- doesn't process form

I previously was utilizing one button and the cancelAction command. However, this was causing the form to be submitted when used in the preSubmit event.
I have recently implemented a 2 submit button solution to a form, which works beautifly for validation. All my edits are executed when they are suppose to be. However, now the form does not submit. When I click the complete button, noting happens.
    I have regular button name Validate, where I do all of my edit checks, and it calls the click event of a submit button, Button1, if all edits pass. I use the command Button1.execEvent("click");
The click event of Button1 is greyed out, not sure if that is an issue.
Has anyone ever encountered this before?

    Hi,
I am guessing that you have used a submit by email button, which automates the submit process. As a result it does not have a click event. I would recommend using a regular button with script in its click event that will do the submit. There are examples of single button submit here, which you should be able to adapt for your hidden submit/regular button: http://assure.ly/eUR4wJ.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall
