Submit button hidden when update to version reader X

Hi,
I use an interactive Form of Acrobat that can sent by Email after activate the submit button. But when I did an update Adobe reader to version X, the submit button and purple toolbar dissapeared.
Version 8.x and 9.x of Adobe reader did not have this problem. Please can someone help me.
Regards,
Ron

Don't shoot the messenger, but it seems to have fixed itself (I did reboot my Bold last night!).  Is this magic or is there really a logic to this?

  • Email Submit button works in Acrobat but not Reader

    I have a form with an email submit button.  When those who have Adobe Reader click on the Submit button, nothing happens.  For the users with Acrobat, the submit button works as designed. The users all have the latest version of Reader, Java and Flash.  When the Acrobat users click the button a box appears asking them to select Desktop or Internet email.  Once they make a selection, the form is sent.  When the Reader users click the button nothing happens.  I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust.  Can you help me?

    Hi Susan,
    I appreciate we have meandered through this, but bear with us...
    Here is a screen shot of a regular button set up to return the completed form as a PDF.
    Now if you deploy this form WITHOUT Reader Enabling the form, then users with Reader will see this warning:
    However before you deploy the form open it in Acrobat and go to the Advanced menu (in version 9) and select "Extend features in Acrobat Reader" and save the form with an amended name. Then send this new "Reader extended" form out to the users with Reader and they will be able to return the completed PDF.
    Without seeing the actual form it is difficult to work out how the submit button is set up.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Getting submit button to work online in Adobe Reader

    We've been having problems getting the Submit button to function in an Adobe form we use online. I searched this forum and others but came up with no solution other than instructing the user to download the form and open it locally in Reader then fill it out and submit. This seemed counter intuitive so we called Adobe and got the following bit of info that worked like a charm so we thought we'd share it with others who may be experiencing the same problem.
    In Adobe Acrobat Professional
    Go to “Advanced” in the menu
    Select “Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader...”
    When you do this it prompts you to save it. Once this is enabled you can't edit the document any further so you may want to save it as a new name and upload it to the web and the submit button should then work in the browser.

    I can't read the form on this machine (meaning it is not backward compatible to this version). However, the typical problem is that you are trying to have a full form submitted. Simply change to the FDF or XML data which can be imported to the form. There are restrictions on the saving that is needed for the full form and also there may be problems with using e-mail -- e-mail depends on the client machine setup in many cases and will fail.
    Follow up:
    I looked at the submit button. There are two aspects that are issues, one that is probably the problem you are having.
    1. You use e-mail submission. This may cause problems for some folks due to their system not being setup for MAPI or related automated mailto: operation. That is likely not your problem, but can be an issue.
    2. You have selected to submit the entire PDF. Change that to a FDF submission for now and it will probably work fine. Depending on your version of Acrobat you can fine a menu item listed as Form Data with the option to import data. That is all you need to get the data back in the same form as in the PDF that was completed. You will have to open the form and then import the data, unless the form has not moved and the FDF file still has the file path information to open the data in the file automatically.
    3. To enable the full form, you run into issues with the license agreement if it is be used by more than 500 folks. It may be an issue for a company as large as your's. In that case, use the form data. If you can insure that there will be no more than 500 folks using the form (see Sec 15 of the EULA), you can enable Reader Rights (need AA8 or AA9). I would suggest you are better off not enabling the form in your work place, but having the data submitted. The user can print the form (and markup) for their records.

    Hi,

    But "Submit" button is not enabled, tried in firefox(1.04), mozilla browsers.
    Please let me know how can i proceed further.
    Thanks in Advance

    Use Internet Explorer on Windows.
    You could try running IE under Wine on Solaris but the effort required to do that might not be worht the trouble particularly that you will need a Windows platform to run the Enterprise Designer anyway.
    Read the documentation for pre-requisites and supported platforms.

  • Safari needs to click submit button twice when file uploading

    Hi all,
    I'm using Safari 4.0.5 and developing the html (no AJAX, but plain PHP posting) form with the file uploading on my local environment. I tested it fast and thick several times, then suddenly Safari stopped to upload the jpeg file, indicating loading animation on the address bar. So I tried to click the submit button once again, I succeed in sending two posts including one jpeg image.
    There's no problem with other browsers like Firefox and Chrome. Additionally, I tried to reinstalled Safari, rebooted Snow Leopard and checked file's permissions by Disk Utility app, but no dice.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    I am having the exact same problem except that I'm in Safari 5.0. Did you ever come to any resolution on the problem?
    I am having trouble uploading certain jpegs (can't find a common thread between the images that won't work though they tend to be larger than 100k and larger than 800px wide). When I have the problem the progress bar just hangs at about 10%. The page never times out. Never throws any kind of error. I confirmed that the file is never making it to the application layer. Such a weird and intermittent problem. All other browsers are fine. Just Safari is a problem. Even with these images that are giving me a problem, sometimes they work - especially after restarting the browser.
    Any help or insight from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

  • Submit button disappears when returning to the quiz slide

    Hi everyone,
    We just upgraded from Captivate 4.0 to 5.5. I'm learning 5.5 differences from 4.0 and have one that I can't figure out.
    On the quiz slides, if the learner moves back and forward within the quiz slides, the quiz buttons are fine. However, if they click Back on the 1st quiz slide, then go forward to the quiz slide the submit button flashes briefly then disappears for that slide and all the other quiz slides. I can't find a setting to fix this.
    Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Sounds like a quiz scope issue.  If you click back on the first quiz slide that would take you to the slide BEFORE the first quiz slide which is technically outside the quiz scope.  This usually results in Captivate locking the quiz.
    I haven't personally seen this button disappearing act but you can test whether quiz scope is the likely culprit by adding a scored click box to the first slide of the project, which will then extend the quiz scope out to that slide.  If this prevents your quiz slide buttons from disappearing, we know where the issue comes from.  That may mean you have still found a bug that needs to be fixed though.

  • Error when updating to version 1.2

    I'm using the iTunes version 7.0. When I try to update my iPod to version 1.2, I get an error that the iPod could not be updated because some of the files were in use by another application.
    Anyone having that error, or a solution?
    Susan

    Found the button, but it isn't checked. Maybe Apple will have an update on this soon...
    I think this happened to me a long time ago. Make
    sure your iPod isn't updating, and if it is then wait
    until it is done. If it keeps updating even after it
    says it is done on iTunes, make sure the box to the
    left of 'Enable disk use' is unchecked. That box is
    in your iPod setup screen. It should be the first
    button below devices.

  • Error ORA-01446 when updating a versioned table with SQLDeveloper 1.5.4

    Hi,
    I have been trying out Oracle Workspace Manager to test how versioned tables might work to our advantage. My basic testing process is:
    1. Create a table
    2. Add some data rows
    3. Version enable the table
    4. Create a workspace
    5. Goto the created workspace
    6. Update a row
    7. Commit and I get the following error
    UPDATE "COMSERV"."A_OWM_TEST" SET DESCRIPTION = 'ABCDEFGHIJzzzz' WHERE ROWID = 'AAAThNAAIAAAgwqAAY'
    One error saving changes to table "COMSERV"."A_OWM_TEST":
    Row 10: ORA-01446: cannot select ROWID from view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
    The same update works fine from SQLPlus so my question is Does SQL developer support table versioning or have I done something wrong is setting up my versioned tables?
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Richard Wilkinson

    hye...
    is that any view referring to that table...
    check the code on how u create that view...
    for e.g.
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW testview
    (id, name)
    AS
    select * from testing;
    this also will populate that ORA-01446 error.
    just a suggestion cause i also have a similar problem on ORA-01446 and i resolve it by alter the view..
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW testview
    (id, name)

  • One submit button - Insert Record and Update Record

    I have a form in Dreamweaver CS3, using ASP VBScript and an
    Access database. When submitted, the form inserts a record into the
    table CountDate01. The record comes from a hidden field that gets
    its value from a field within that same table. There is no other
    data entered by the user in any other form fields. The info the
    form submits comes from: rsDate1Avail.Fields.Item("Date01").Value
    I would like if the same Submit button could also update a
    record in a second table (registrants) at the same time. I would
    like to submit the same info that comes from the hidden field to
    the second table. So it would be two actions occurring that both
    insert and update in 2 different tables from one submit button. Is
    this possible?
    Here is the code for the existing form action:
    <%
    If (CStr(Request("MM_insert")) = "submitDate1") Then
    If (Not MM_abortEdit) Then
    ' execute the insert
    Dim MM_editCmd
    Set MM_editCmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
    MM_editCmd.ActiveConnection = MM_MumConn_STRING
    MM_editCmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO CountDate01 (Date01)
    VALUES (?)"
    MM_editCmd.Prepared = true
    MM_editCmd.Parameters.Append
    MM_editCmd.CreateParameter("param1", 135, 1, -1,
    MM_IIF(Request.Form("hiddenField"), Request.Form("hiddenField"),
    null)) ' adDBTimeStamp
    MM_editCmd.Execute
    MM_editCmd.ActiveConnection.Close
    ' append the query string to the redirect URL
    Dim MM_editRedirectUrl
    MM_editRedirectUrl = "form_FT_4.asp"
    If (Request.QueryString <> "") Then
    If (InStr(1, MM_editRedirectUrl, "?", vbTextCompare) = 0)
    Then
    MM_editRedirectUrl = MM_editRedirectUrl & "?" &
    Request.QueryString
    Else
    MM_editRedirectUrl = MM_editRedirectUrl & "&" &
    Request.QueryString
    End If
    End If
    Response.Redirect(MM_editRedirectUrl)
    End If
    End If
    %>

    Yes. Use a command on the redirect page to update the data.
    No, wait, the
    ASP COMMAND IMPLEMENTATION IS BROKEN IN CS3, and remains
    broken in CS4. So
    sorry, you'll have to hand-code it.
    Sorry, I'm just a little bit bitter about the callous
    attitude Adobe has
    shown in fixing the KNOWN BUGS IN THEIR SOFTWARE.

  • Email submit button created in LC ES2 causes Acrobat and Reader to crash

    I've created a form in LC ES2, and included an email submit button. When I open this form in Acrobat Reader 10.1.3, click the submit button, and specify "Desktop Email Application," as opposed to the "Internet Email" option, no email is generated, Reader locks up and requires force closing. This happens also with Acrobat X Pro. With both programs, it happens (1) when the form is Reader enabled AND when it's not, (2) when I use an http submit button with a submit to URL of: mailto:[email protected], and (3) when I use a standard button, with control type "submit" and a submit to URL of: mailto:[email protected]
    I AM able to save the form in Acrobat Pro and in Reader (when rights are enabled), I just can't email it.

    Have had the same problem for years. It crashes for me when i just try to email within acrobat. Not sure if its a problem causes by my work network or if it is just another thing never to be fixed by Adobe.

  • Why does my InDesign CS6-created interactive pdf w/ email submit button no longer submit from Reader

    Last spring I created a 6 page interactive pdf form to email my clients. At the end of the form, I designed Print and Submit buttons. I tested it in Reader and both buttons worked. However, now after revising some of the fields in the same form, the Submit button isn't working in Reader. A message pops up stating that only a data file will be sent, rather than the form. After clicking OK on that (although I do want entire form to be returned via Submit), an error pop-up states "This operation is not permitted."
    What do I need to do to correct this problem so that clients can receive this form via email attachment, open in Reader and then return completed form via email submission? Do I need to open the pdf in Acrobat after converting from InDesign, and edit some feature there? Again, it is essential that my clients can open it in Reader. I have Googled this question but so far not found help.
    Thanks for your assistance!

    HI oliviat38527079
    Seems that the hyperlink you created on the button to move to the next PDF is not working once it gets moved to a different computer via email, this happens when there is a change in the file path.  It works fine when its on our Mac Computer as the path is fixed because the PDF was created on the same computer, however the path gets changed once it is mailed to a different computer.
    I would recommend you check the path of the hyperlinks & make sure they are fixed.
    Suppose the path set in the hyperlink is C:\Users\NewFolder\PDF\file1.pdf , then the path of the file on the computer to which you have mailed it should be arrange in same manner so that the hyperlink works.
    If its possible for you to share the PDF file then please do, so we can have a closer look & try to resolve your issue.
    In case you any doubts please reply.

    Aadesh
