Submit Button In PreTest Slide

Hello,
I created a hotspot pretest slide and I want to give it 2 attempts, after the second attempt the submit button no longer works and the "correct"/"incorrect" pop-ups no longer appear. The next button works but this doesn't allow the user to see if they've made the correct selection.
Thank you for any help with this,

The jump to slide works great. Yes, the user goes right back to the quiz after remediation. The user can then change her answer and click submit. However, she can not advance forward. Sigh.
I am a freelancer who inherited the template from the former freelancer. I was told to use her template to create the trainings. So I am. I was supposed to use all the settings she used, too. That's why the Required is set to: User must answer every question'
I can try your idea and the Requirements in the settings.
What's odd, though, is that I've developed a Quiz using these same exact settings and it worked perfectly. That's why it's odd that the Quiz is no longer working correctly.
Okay, let me try to change the Required settings.
By the way, the submit button works fine in the Preview mode, just not the Web Browser mode.

  • Submit button in Cap 7 quiz does not advance learner to next quiz slide

I created a 5 question MC quiz in Cap 7. When I take the quiz in the preview mode, I am able to advance to the next slide by clicking on the submit button. Well, when I click on the submit button, a pop up appears that says: Correct - click anywhere or press 'y' to continue. Once I click anywhere, *then* I am taken to the next question.
However, when I take the quiz in a web browser, I cannot advance to the next slide, even when I answer the question correctly. I click the submit button. The same pop up appears as in the preview mode: Correct - click anywhere or press 'y' to continue. So, I click anywhere but nothing happens. The slide does not advance.
I've created a few quizzes before in Cap 7 using the same settings so I was stumped when the quiz didn't work this time. Maybe I accidentally changed a setting??

  • Submit button disappears when returning to the quiz slide

    Hi everyone,
We just upgraded from Captivate 4.0 to 5.5. I'm learning 5.5 differences from 4.0 and have one that I can't figure out.
On the quiz slides, if the learner moves back and forward within the quiz slides, the quiz buttons are fine. However, if they click Back on the 1st quiz slide, then go forward to the quiz slide the submit button flashes briefly then disappears for that slide and all the other quiz slides. I can't find a setting to fix this.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like a quiz scope issue.  If you click back on the first quiz slide that would take you to the slide BEFORE the first quiz slide which is technically outside the quiz scope.  This usually results in Captivate locking the quiz.
I haven't personally seen this button disappearing act but you can test whether quiz scope is the likely culprit by adding a scored click box to the first slide of the project, which will then extend the quiz scope out to that slide.  If this prevents your quiz slide buttons from disappearing, we know where the issue comes from.  That may mean you have still found a bug that needs to be fixed though.

  • CP 8.01 - Hiding the Submit button when returning to Quiz slide

    Hi,
After answering a quiz and returning to the same slide later on, the submit button is still present but disabled. I would like for it to be removed/hidden entirely since IMO, I do not think that you have to display it once you have answered the question. Is there a way to do this?
    David

Captivate provides no way to do this. You cannot hide the Submit button another object either.

  • Submit button not taking user to the next slide...

    Hi there,
Hopefully this is a simple one!...
The submit button in my quiz does not take the user to the next slide, it just seems to lock and you have to click on the forward button at the bottom of the screen. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it? I cant use a submit all button as that seems to take away the Action section from the master slide.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    Swift reply as usual!
I actually solved this one.. I just had to add "go to next slide" in the advanced action!
I did have to copy and paste all my work into a new project though.. must have had my second bug of the week!
    Thanks anyway

  • Audio attached to Submit button plays at start of slide

I created a text box with a submit button. When someone types
in their response and clicks submit, text feedback appears and an
audio clip explains the answer. I attached the audio to the submit
button, but when I review the project it plays as soon as the slide
appears, not after the question is answered. It doesn't show up in
the timeline, but plays when I go into the Audio tab of the submit
button. As an aside, the audio on both the success and failure
feedback will be the same. Does this make a difference? Should I
attach audio to the f/b captions?
Any ideas on how to fix this?
PS - Captiv8er -- you've been so kind with giving everyone
    (me) help! Thx!

    Hi Lisa
Good job! You seem to have already figured this out, but on
the outside chance it may help others, here is my own general
    guide.
Think about when you see the objects you are attaching audio
to. Typically, that's when you will hear the audio. At the same
time you actually see the object. In this case, while you certainly
see the feedback caption in edit mode, you don't actually see it
appear until after the button was clicked. So you correctly
intuited that you should assign the audio to the feedback caption!
    Good on ya! Rick

How can you get your submit buttons on the quiz template to be a single click instead of the default double click?  (The option to choose double click or not is not showing in properties for this).

Hmmm... Submit button doesn't need a double click at all. Maybe you are talking about the two-step process? When you click on Submit, the feedback appears with the message to click anywhere or press Y. Is that what you are talking about? If you are talking about a real double-click, something must be wrong in your file. And which version are you using?

  • Captivate 8 - submit buttons/images no longer showing on devices after adding text with javascript

I'm working on a Captivate 8 project to publish to devices through PhoneGap. This is working successfully on iPhone and Android so far. I have modified the quiz so I have 2 types of quizzes with 3 levels each without the final score showing at the end (they have to get the answer correct to move on to the next question).  The submit buttons and image I added to each slide has been working perfectly until I added a text caption with a variable to show "Q X of 6" for each question, with X being a variable that increments by 1 for each slide and then I have another script at the end of each level to reset the variable back to 0.  This is working, however the submit button/success message and image on each slide is now not showing.  The submit button appears to still be on the screen as I can click in the same area where the it should be and it works but appears to be faded completely out, and the success message now shows so lightly I can hardly see it. My image does not show at all now.  I've checked the timeline and they are all set the same, to appear for the rest of the slide.  Any ideas?

actually I think it might be an issue related to upgrading my Mac from Mavericks to Yosemite as the app was working perfectly before. I stripped all the javascript off and repackaged and it's having the same issue so I don't think it's the javascript. I'm going to keep looking into this.

  • Hand cursor not showing on Drag and Drop interaction Submit button

Does anyone know why the hand cursor doesn't show when I hover over the submit button on a drag and drop interaction slide created in CP7 and published as HTML5?
    Many thanks.

Thanks @rickhumpries86. What I did was I narrowed the problem down to a text animation. I only left 2 elements on the stage:
    1) A button
    2) A text animation (a plus sign)
In this first picture of the stage, the problem exists. The frame of the + is indicated but is not overlapping the button.
How I corrected it was I had to move the text animation up about 9 times (Ctrl + up arrow) to the position indicated in this next screen shot. Then there was no interference from the + text animation. For the animation I used the Disperse effect. To get the + sign that large, I used Arial size 72 font. So I'm not sure if this is considered a bug, or there is something else that I'm not understanding about the interaction of the text animation and its affect on the stage to other elements.

  • Final Submit button on quiz extremely unresponsive

I have a cs 4 project that i migrated to cs 5 captivate and most everything seems to work ok (except short answer slides) but anyway the major problem is that when i get to the final slide the submit button works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't and when it does work you usually can't make it work unil around 10-20 seconds have passed of just staring at the page.
I use the report by email function then i hijak the sendmail function to submit the reuslts to my own custom php page and mysql database.  CS4 never had this issue.  However i konw the hijaking of the javscript shouldn't be the problem becasue it eventually does submit the page it just takes like 10 -20 seconds and repeated pressing before i ever see any type of waiting for page.... (to let me konw the browser actually submitted something)
Im using FF3.6 FF4.0 IE 8 and they all work hit or miss (multiple projects same problem)
its crippling my progress since people finish the test and then they hit the submit button and nothing happens.
    Any thoughts?
    David

I too am having the same issue.
All tests I created in Captivate 4 did not have an issue. We have to add a javascript code to submit to our reporting system, but that has never caused an issue.
Now, my Captivate 4 tests as well as all Captivate 5 tests require hitting the Submit button twice. I have waited up to 60 seconds to see if our confirm window opens and it doesn't until I hit Submit again.
I am including the code we use. It has to be an aspx file to work properly with our system.
This has cause us to have to manually submit over 150 scores by hand. Please HELP.

  • Can I remove the Submit button?

When I first created quizzes, I accepted the defaults, and found you have to click Submit each time you answer a question. You actually need a submit button if you go that route.
I found the "Submit All" option in Quiz Preferences, and selected it. When I tested the quiz, I answered questions and clicked Next to proceed to the next screen. Submit All does exactly what I need it to do - at the end of the quiz it asks me if I want to submit all, and I click yes. Then my score displays. At no time do I need a Submit button in any of the quiz slides.
However, every slide in the quiz now has a "Submit All" button - this option changes the button from "Submit" to "Submit All." When you click it, you get an error telling you the test is incomplete.
I don't need it and it's confusing, so I'd like to remove it.  But I can't delete it from the quiz slide or the Master Slide - I can only move it. There is no right click option to get rid of it. The only thing I have found I can do is gray it out by changing its attributes.
Is there some way I can get rid of it?
    Thanks!

I don't think you can remove it completely, but a couple of options you could look at are:
    - change it to a transparent button, set the opacity to 0% and delete the text. You can then move the invisible button somewhere were users are unlikely to click it.
    - Or just drag the button off the slide so it doesn't appear when the project runs.

  • Add advanced action to submit button and setting different objectives score for the same course

Hi, i would like to increase a counter in a quiz slide when the user press the submit button, using advanced actions.
It's like if the submit button is somehow inhibited from certain options, and i cannot find how to add an advanced action to it.
what i need, is to allow unlimited attempt until the user selects the right answer. each time the user click on submit, a counter increases by one. When user finally select the right answer, we read the counter value and assign a different score, depending on the attempt (for example: 1st attempt=20 points, 2nd attempt=10 points, 3rd attempt=0 points)
After that, i need to save all score obtained for a certain group of quiz slide separately from the "main score" (i think the main score is stored in cmi.objectives.0.score)  to have partials scores for a course. I examined the "advanced interactions" panel and i noticed that for each quiz slide there is a specific interaction ID and each quiz slide is associated typically to the same Objective ID. What i need is to associate different groups of slides to different Objective ID's.
In Storyline i was able to do this by passing to the lms a cmi.objectives.n.score (where "n" is the place in the objectives array) and i did it by executing a javascript on success for each question slide. (each javascript added the score of previous slides in the same group to obtain the total score of the group to be passed to lms with a specific function).
examining captivate scorm functions in the published scormdriver.js i found the following function
    function SCORM_SetObjectiveScore(strObjectiveID,intScore,intMaxScore,intMinScore)
so i think it can be done the same way in captivate executing javascript in the right way.
Is there also an easier solution to write different scores to different obectives in the same course?
    many thanks for any help!

    Have a look at:

Indeed, Submit button is part of the Question slide, not a normal button. You can add a custom shape button, but it will never replace what happens when the Submit button is clicked: validation of the answer, showing captions, adding to score etc. Making the score depending on the attempt is not possible with default functionality, it is possible with custom question slides, but then the reporting to LMS is another issue. You should try to do it by JS, or if you only need SWF-output you could use the Master widget by InfoSemantics.

  • Green highlight box appearing on the quiz submit button

    Hi all,
There is an unusual green highlight box appearing on my quiz slide when I roll my mouse over the 'submit' button (on the published version). This has never happened before, please help!

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
When you move button on a Question slide then please make sure you move button parent area don't move internal  content of the button.
So, when we hover mouse on button then "Green background color" is used to depict OnFocus. Now if you move button content then hover area will be complete parent button area.
Please see attached screenshot to better understand.
So, in present question slide please move internal content of button in correct position or delete this Question slide and ad new question slide and move parent button area to change button position.
Let me know if this solve the problem.
    Thanks

  • Submit button in quiz

Here's something on my Captivate "wish list" --
It would be user-friendly if Captivate could create a quiz
where the learner's pressing the Enter key would engage the Submit
    button on the page.

    Hi there Janatwork
Your wish is granted. That is, assuming you are using
    Captivate 3.
Captivate 3 allows you to double-click the buttons on a
Question slide and change their formatting. You may also elect to
    assign a shortcut key!

  • Adobe Captivate Quiz- Submit Button

    Hi
In the Quiz slides there is a "Submit" button. On clicking this button we get Correct / incorrect (text box). This is fine.
But we want to also show a separate image/graphics ( correct answer).
AAA. How can we program the "submit" button to launch Correct / incorrect (text box) & a graphic and pause on the slide. Move to next slide when "Next/Skip" button is pressed.
BBB. If Submit button cannot be programmed, is there another way to show image/graphics (correct answer) along with Correct / incorrect (text box) after clicking submit.
To us only option available is to put the correct answer image in a blank slide after each question. This approach will double the number of slides in the quiz. Anything more efficient?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi there
I just performed a small test and made it work as follows. This assumes you are using Captivate 4.
First I inserted an image on a Question slide and configured it as invisible.
I then created an Advanced Action that performed the following actions.
I then assigned the action to the "if correct" action for the question.
During playback it seemed to behave exactly as you are requesting. The Question slide remained in place with the image visible until I clicked the Next button. The scoring seemed to remain unaffected.
    Cheers... Rick
