Submitting a feed to Itunes

When I submit my feed http://www.quoteactionspodcast.com/?feed=podcast, I get the following error message:
We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: -1
I can't find what this is or how to solve the problem

The two feeds you've just linked to appear, on a quick look, to be the same. However they don't match the feed in the Feedvalidator report you originally linked to. The URL you first posted, when opened in a browser, looks very odd - it has a huge image at the top and shows no episodes, and doesn't have the usual link Feedburner gives to the actual feed.
The feed you have recently linked to contains a lot of 'br' tags and other codes. All your descriptions, itunes:subtitle, itunes: summary and so on should be plain text. I should start by rewriting the descriptions and so on in the iWeb podcast page with plain text and nothing else - paragraph returns are OK - the return button - but no shift-return and no links or formatting.
I don't know why the Feedburner feed appears to be different and to behave oddly. You should probably start by tidying up the iWeb feed as much as you can and then submitting it again to Feedburner. If Feedburner continues to do strange things you may have to take it up with them, but it doesn't normally if the feed it is given is straightforward.

  • Difficulty submitting podcast feed to iTunes

    Hello everyone,
My friend and I host a podcast at http://DWSPodcast.com
    Our RSS feed is http://DWSPodcast.libsyn.com/rss
I go through the motions of submitting our feed to the iTunes Store:
sign in, store, podcasts, submit a podcast, insert feed, confirm info, see success page saying correspondence will be sent to my email.
Here is where my trouble occurs.
I never receive a confirmation email even though iTunes states that it knows where to send it.  I have waited days-weeks to see if one would show up.
Here is another oddity.  I can complete this submission process as many times as I like without receiving any submission error or 'already received' error.
I have checked my RSS feed with the feed validator and it is a legit feed.  Libsyn support has also double checked my feed as well.
My podcast can be manually subscribed through iTunes and everything works fine.
I have tried submitting my feed from different computers on different networks to make sure it wasn't a local hang up.
We are already on stitcher radio and the Microsoft podcast network and really can't understand why our feed won't submit to iTunes.
It seems to be broken somewhere between the submission process and the apple servers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
    -Andrew

There is no obvious reason why there should be a problem. It can take several weeks before a podcast is accepted, so possibly you're just stuck in the queue, though in that case I would have expected further attempts to submit to produce an error message.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but I have to tell you that they are not noted for being helpful and you will very likely simply get a form answer telling you how to submit a podcast (which you already know). You might get better results if you can persuade Libsyn to chase it up - Apple are more likely to listen to them.

  • Error when submitting podcast feed on iTunes

When I went to submit a podcast in iTunes, I received an error that said, "We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500"
I have run my url file through www.feedvalidator.org for verification which state it is good. My url I am trying to submit is:
    http://www.sonlightchurch.org/mediaservices/channel310.xml
Can anyone tell me what might be the problem with this?
    Thanks.

Testing it by using iTunes menu Advancesd>Subscribe to Podcast works fine for me: please try that and see whether it works (what this does is to subscribe your own copy of iTunes to the feed without going through the iTunes Store, and it's a useful check as to the validity of the podcast).
If it works for you, then try submitting it again. If it still doesn't work then you will probably need to contact iTunes Support.
If testing it doesn't work for you then you have a local issue of some sort.

  • Trouble submitting my feed to itunes - 'submit' button doesn't work

itunes is not allowing me to submit my podcast.
I'm going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html then clicking on 'submit a podcast'
    I then enter:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheStartupStudio
the button that says 'continue' doesn't work when I put my mouse over it. But if I hit the enter key, it does take me to the next screen.
first problem: itunes is not picking up the most recent changes I made to my description
BIGGER PROBLEM: if I go to submit it and try to push 'submit' or hit the enter key, nothing happens. I have had this problem for weeks.

  • Timeout error when submitting feedburner podcast feed to itunes

This is my first time submitting my podcast to itunes, I have created the feed with feedburner and I can manually subscribe and download the podcast in itunes however when i try to submit the feed I recieve the generic timout error, see below. I have tried for several days with different machines to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Feed Address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThePortcast
    Thanks in advance.

The feed appears to be OK; sometimes individual servers can behave oddly with the Store but as yours is a Feedburner feed there shouldn't be any problem, so there is no obvious reason why this is happening.
You could try the allternative submission URL:
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast
If that doesn't work one possibility is that there is a problem at the Store end, which does happen though it doesn't usually go on for several days. You could try emailing support at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I have to say that you likely won't get a helpful answer. Otherwise I can only suggest giving it a day or two and trying again.

  • Newbie podcaster struggling with submitting feed to iTunes--please help!

Hi, I have a new podcast (one episode so far). I've posted the audio file and show notes on a WordPress.org site at: http://www.workstewpodcast.com/
I have a link to this site from my main site (http://workstew.com/) which is in a WordPress.com template.
In the podcast site (i.e. the WordPress.org site) I installed the Blubrry/PowerPress plug-in and submitted the "recommended iTunes" feed to iTunes. The feed validates when I use the validator...but 1) when I use the iTunes Advanced 'subscribe' function, I see Work Stew Podcast show up in my list of podcasts but I can't download the actual episode and 2) I got an email from iTunes saying:
The podcast located at the URL shown below has been blocked or removed from the iTunes directory as a result of technical problems with the feed.
    Name: Work Stew Podcast
    Feed URL: http://www.workstewpodcast.com/?feed=podcast
What am I doing wrong? Would so appreciate any help in getting this whole iTunes thing sorted out!
    Kate

Your feed validates, and I can't see anything wrong with it. I just subscribed to it in iTunes and it worked fine, downloading the episode. There is currently no obvious reason why there should be a problem: but the fact that you were unable to get the episode to download suggests that perhaps the server was not responding at that time. Certainly a failure to access the media file would get your podcast rejected.
I don't know anything about blubrry.com - you could ask them whether there has been any technical problem. You do need a reliable server if you're going to run a podcast.
You should check it immediately before re-submitting to make sure it's working: you may be told that a podcast of that title has already been submitted (this is a minor bug in the system) in which case you will need to make a small change to the title - you can always change it back once it's been accepted, provided that changing the title doesn't change the feed URL (as for example it would in iWeb), so that's something you will need to check.

  • Submitted Podcast Feed & iTunes Rejected...

    Hello, iTunes helpers,
I submitted an RSS2 feed to iTunes for my podcast to be listed, but it was rejected with unknown reason. I think I did everything right. Could someone please tell me what SPECIFICALLY went wrong?
    http://djmoradio.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
I tried to resubmit, but it says "The feed has already been submitted." How do I submit my feed again & NOT get rejected?
It works. I can access my feed by manually typing the URL & subscribing to it. The thing is, I want to make it easier for people to search for me instead of just the URL. You know, make it official?
    Thanks,
    - DJ Mo
    Podcast Feed URL: http://djmoradio.podomatic.com/rss2.xml

It's rather unhelpful that when they reject a feed they don't give a reason. Common reasons for rejection are technical problems (doesn't seem to be the case here), offensive, illegal or explicit content (doesn't seem to be the case either) or copyright concerns. I haven't listened to your material, but its possible that they may be concerned that you are using copyright recordings without either the written consent of the copyright owners or the possession of a valid podcast licence from a recognized authority.
If you are able to clear up whatever the problem is you may well find that you get the 'already submitted' error - this appears to be a bug in the Store. The workaround is to make a small change to the title and to the feed filename, so that it appears to be a new podcast (you can always change the title back afterwards).

  • Error submitting feed in itunes, But Feedvalidatororg says it's good

While trying to submit the feed in iTunes, it gives me an error message saying *error parsing feed: Invalid XML: Error on Line 1: The element type "META" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</META>"*
The feed has been validated by feedvalidator.org as shown below:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload696.mediafire.co m%2Fncjmniyxnthg%2Fznijmzmalrj%2FEssentialTrance.rss
Is there something wrong that I am doing? This is the first time I'm doing this.
Thanks in advance for your time!

The URL of your feed, according to the FeedValidator page (which doesn't give me the same error it did you) is
    http://download696.mediafire.com/ncjmniyxnthg/znijmzmalrj/EssentialTrance.rss
Opening this in a browser produces a redirect to
    http://www.mediafire.com/?znijmzmalrj
which gives a link to download the file. This won't work in iTunes: you must give it a URL directly to the feed. The test is that if you open the URL in a browser it will treat it as rss and display the contents.
Although the extension of .rss will work it would be better if the extension was .xml

  • Submitting a podcast and iTunes approval

I submitted a podcast/podcast feed a number of weeks ago and it successfully published in iTunes, however a few days after successfully publishing the feed, iTunes removed it from the US store (most likely because of technical difficulties). I then re-created the podcast using Feed for All and have successfully validated the feed on numerous sites on the Web.
I have since resubmitted the feed to iTunes, however the feed is not publishing ... I check our link and it says the feed "cannot be located in the US store."
My question: How do I get my feed on iTunes even though my feed is valid and clean? I have submitted and resubmitted it over 3 times in the past 10 days with no luck.
Any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    S

One, how long does it take for a podcast to be accepted and found on the iTunes store?
    Up to two weeks.
Two, how does iTunes define- copyright? I have heard numerous podcasts with sound bytes taken from tv and radio programs, and they have all been approved.
If the copyright owner raises a complaint, the podcast may be removed. Apple does not appear to automatically screen content.

  • Need to resubmit feed to iTunes store

i needed to install and update to my site's blog, where i publish my podcast.
    the feed is http://tdjacobs.com/blog/?feed=podcast
the old episodes are still in itunes but new ones are not there. the blog is now updated to the new version and i need to resubmit the feed. itunes says this feed has already been submitted...which of course it has.
i sent the issue to apple support and got a reply i don't know what to do with. it said to change the title and links of the feed, resubmit it, and then once it is accepted, change them back. i have no idea how to change the title and links.
is there a simple way to do this?
    any help out there?
    thanks,
    tom

You have two different feeds running. The one you linked to above is
    http://tdjacobs.com/blog/?feed=podcast
and this contains episodes 11-21. However the feed which is being used by the Store is
    http://tdjacobs.com/blog/?feed=rss2
and this contains only episodes 19-21, and these episodes also show in the Store.
So both feeds have the latest three episodes, but the earlier episodes show only in the feed which iTunes is not using.
So you need to do one of two things. You could revert to keeping the second feed I list up to date, and then whatever is in that is what will appear in iTunes. Or you could redirect iTunes to the first feed I list, the one you originally linked to. However in order to do this you need to add a special tag to the feed iTunes is using, and I don't know whether you will be able to do that if you are using WordPress - possibly you could download the feed, add the tag, and reupload it. The method is described here.
Unfortunately the feed iTunes is using, though it is reading it, lacks a declaration in the top section without which the redirect probably won't work. You need to add the line
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd
within the rss tag so that the top of the feed reads like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss version="2.0"
    xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"
    xmlns:wfw="http://wellformedweb.org/CommentAPI/"
    xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"
    xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"
    xmlns:sy="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/syndication/"
    xmlns:slash="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/slash/"
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd">
You are the second person in the last couple of days who has a mixup with a Wordpress podcast - I think what is happening is a mixup between the rss feed for the podcast and the one for the blog - you may have submitted the latter in error. I'm afraid I can't advise on exactly how you would do all this in WordPress.

  • Resubmit Feed to iTunes

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my podcast feeds.  My websites were removed via goDaddy recently.  I rebuilt the sites and uploaded all audio.  My podcasts were removed from the iTunes directory and when I try to resubmit my feeds to iTunes it tells me that the "feed has already been submitted".  The Blubrry feed works well after restoration but iTunes is a problem.  Please help...sites are below.
    http://roguemedic.emsstandingorders.com
    http://roguemedic.emsstandingorders.com/?feed=podcast
    http:///emsstandingorders.com
    http://emsstandingorders.com/feed/podcast
    Thank you!

You've fallen over a bug in the automated part of the submissions process whereby you are told a feed has already been submitted even if it was subsequently rejected or removed. The workaround is to change the title slightly - you can change it back once accepted provided doing so does not change the feed URL. If you can change the feed filename, and hence its URL, this is also a good idea, as is changing the URL in the 'link' tag (this can easily be changed back afterwards).
The feeds themselves appear to be fine and can be subscribed to manually in iTunes (this is something you can do to check they are OK - if you do it after adding each new episode you will find out quickly if there is a problem).

  • Have submitted podcast feed several times and heard nothing back

We are in dier need of assistance! We have a podcast called Air-Raid.net and have been doing the show for approximately 6 months now. We submitted our RSS for the first time in the first week of june and got a response that our RSS feed was working but then never heard anything again.
We have since re-submitted our feed 3 times and heard absolutely nothing, not a confirmation or a decline! We have asked question after question in tech support but recieved nothing but a copy and paste of the FAQ section. We are really pulling our hair out here trying to figure out what is wrong because Zune and Stitcher accepted our RSS feed after a couple days.
Can anyone help us? We would really appreciate some outside eyes on this one.
    our RSS Feed is: http://air-raid.net/rss.php
    Thanks for your time,
    Aaron

I'm afraid that as this is a user-to-user forum with no access to the inner workings of the iTunes Store it's not really possible to offer any assistance. There appears to be nothing technically wrong with the feed.
Have you gone down the 'Express Lane' support route? - Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options.

  • Re-submitting RSS feed

    Hi
I'm new to podcasting and submitted our rss feed to itunes however I hadn't added the picture correctly and it wasnt showing up. I therefore deleated our RSS feed from Itunes. I have tried to re-submit it numerous times however it is still not apprearing in Itunes store when i search for it, I re-submitted the feed about 10 days ago!
any help would be much appreciated, cheers
    indi
    here is the feed...
    http://rupture.podOmatic.com/rss2.xml

What do you mean by 'deleted' - do you mean you actually went through the removal process, asking iTunes Support to remove your podcast? Of did you just delete the feed from your server?
If the former, then you will need to actually resubmit it, and it may take some time for it to be assessed - I can't predict how long, but it might well be a fortnight or so. There is in any case no need to remove a podcast in order to update the feed - you just update it and wait a couple of days (or so) for it to update in the Store.
The podcast image is now correctly referenced, though the 'itunes:image' need only appear in the top section of the feed - there is no point in placing it within the 'item' tags as it will have no effect there.

  • I am unable to submit my RSS feed into iTunes

Podcast RSS feed not being accepted by iTunes
I have registered my main podcast RSS feed in iTunes successfully. I want to migrate this RSS feed from feedburner to PowerPress, but I want to prototype it first before I move the real feed. To that end, I created another Blogger blog site and Feedburner rss feed that has the same settings as my main feed. The feed is using SmartCast to configure the RSS feed for iTunes compatibility. I cannot get the test feed to load into iTunes though. I get this error message:
Podcast cover art must be at least 1400x1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
I had the artist give me a 1400x1400 pixel version of the logo in RGB color space (I’m not sure how to verify this).  Here is a link to the logo, if anyone can tell by looking at the picture or site what is wrong that needs to be fixed. http://s24.postimg.org/lvuuf7v91/ARP_logo_i_Tunes.jpg
I have read as many forum posts as I can to try and solve this issue and nothing has worked so far. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my image or RSS feed that is causing iTunes to reject the feed?
