Submitting Your Podcast to iTunes

I need to break my question into steps, otherwise it will get confusing. If there is anyone that can advise me on my next steps that would be great!
1. I submitted my Podcast and realized I submitted the incorrect feed URL.
2. I than removed my Podcast from iTunes.
3. While submitting the new feed URL I didn’t receive any prompt, so I thought I should submit the URL again.
4. I received this message reading, “it appears your feed has already been submitted.”
5. The first URL has no connection with the second (new) URL so I am wondering why I received this message. (it appears your feed has already been submitted)
Can anyone help!

I can't see any reason why there should be a problem. The only thing about your feed is that there is no 'itunes:duration' tag containing the duration of each episode in the format hh:mm:ss so that the Store can't know what the duration of the podcast is - however this shouldn't cause a problem about submissions.
Occasionally the submissions process falls over and give incorrect rejections, so possibly that's the problem. You could try leaving it for a day or so and trying again.

We have installed Podcast Producer 2 on a demo 10.6.2 server. We are able to use Podcast Capture directly on the server and podcasts are produced and able to be accessed through the Podcast library.
But when attempting to use Podcast Capture on a 10.5.8 client, after logging in and recording the podcast, when publishing we get the following message from Podcast Capture:
"There was an error submitting your podcast"
Some things I have noticed from the Server Logs:

The 401 Unauthorized also shows up even when we use podcast capture directly on the server. But the podcast still works then. So I'm not sure this is really an issue.

How do I change my server so that it uses the FQDN "demomaster.nobl.k12.in.us" everywhere instead of sometimes using the local hostname demomaster.local.
It appears this is a DNS issue. We have set the hostname using scutil and running changeip -checkhostname shows
    Current HostName = demomaster.nobl.k12.in.us
    DNS HostName = demomaster.nobl.k12.in.us
The names match. There is nothing to change.
    dirserv:success = "success"
nslookup on the ip shows that the reverse is working and pointing to the FQDN.
Computer Name in Server admin is set to: demomaster.nobl.k12.in.us
Local Hostname is set to: demomaster
but under the podcast Producer overview screen in Server Admin our Podcast Library and Capture URL both show http://demomaster.local:port instead of the FQDN.
    How do we change this?
    Thanks again.

  • Submitting a podcast and iTunes approval

I submitted a podcast/podcast feed a number of weeks ago and it successfully published in iTunes, however a few days after successfully publishing the feed, iTunes removed it from the US store (most likely because of technical difficulties). I then re-created the podcast using Feed for All and have successfully validated the feed on numerous sites on the Web.
I have since resubmitted the feed to iTunes, however the feed is not publishing ... I check our link and it says the feed "cannot be located in the US store."
My question: How do I get my feed on iTunes even though my feed is valid and clean? I have submitted and resubmitted it over 3 times in the past 10 days with no luck.
Any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

One, how long does it take for a podcast to be accepted and found on the iTunes store?
    Up to two weeks.
Two, how does iTunes define- copyright? I have heard numerous podcasts with sound bytes taken from tv and radio programs, and they have all been approved.
If the copyright owner raises a complaint, the podcast may be removed. Apple does not appear to automatically screen content.

  • Error when submitting a podcast to iTunes

    We get the following error:
"Podcast cover art must be at least 600 x 600 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests".
We validated the feed and tested in iTunes and the podcasts work.
Here is the path for our xml feed: http://positivecoach.org/common/cms/documents/Podcast%20XMLs/PCA_1-on-1.xml
Here is the path for our image: http://www.positivecoach.org/common/cms/images/Logos/PCA_1on1_square_160px_yello w.jpg
We are stumped on how to fix.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Your image is only 160 x 160 and so doesn't even meet the standard specified in the error message: however that message needs amending because Apple are now making 1400 x 1400 px mandatory. So your image needs to be that size, and must be a JPG or PNG and less than 500 kB.

  • Does anybody know how to change the title of your podcast on iTunes and the description of it?

I was working on my feed site and when the podcast popped up on iTunes I realized that I put the wrong info and title on it. Anybody know?

You change the title and descriptions by entering the changed versions in wherever you originally entered the items in whatever system you are using to create your feed, then re-publish the feed; it will take the iTunes Store a couple of days or so to catch up.
However, if the method you are using to create your feed is one of those which uses the title of the podcast as part of the URL, and this changes if you change the title, then if you change the URL as a result the iTunes Store will lose contact with it and fail to update in future: so be careful about this.

  • HT1819 When Submitting my Podcast for iTunes, Error Parsing Code, Invalid XML, line 25 message came up. Help!

I have tried to submit my podcast, please help with the above error. Here is the site I am trying to connect: http://underthehelmet.podbean.com/
    Thanks in advance!

You are trying to submit the URL of your web page - obviously this isn't going to work. Your feed is at
    http://underthehelmet.podbean.com/feed/
and this is the URL you need to submit. It works OK when subscribing manually in iTunes so you should be OK with it; expect it to take a couple of weeks to get accepted.

  • Trouble submitting a podcast to iTunes

    Hello,
I have had trouble with my podcast before and therefore deleted it when I couldn't wrap my head around the issue.
That podcast was related to http://feeds.feedburner.com/spelsoffansemiretro and now I am trying to submit the RSS-link http://feeds.feedburner.com/semiretro instead. But then I recieve an error message. iTunes says that this link has already been submitted.
How can I get around this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andreas Linder
    spelsoffan.se

You've fallen over a bug in the automated part of the submissions process which recognizes when a podcast has previously been submitted, but not when it's been rejected or removed.
The workaround is to change the title slightly, then it will look like a new podcast. You can change the title back once it's been accepted provided that doing so doesn't change the feed filename and hence the URL.

  • Submitting a Podcast to iTunes issue

I have setup the Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/4shared/tZPP and have used the Feed validator to verify that it is a proper feed. However, when I go to iTunes and try to submit the podcast I am informed that it has no episodes though there are already two listed on the feed.
Thanks in advance for all your help

    Thank you.
Turns out my issue was with feedburner. I went into smartcast and I had forgotten to put the link to the image in there.
Now it works. I knew I was missing something simple.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Submitting a Podcast to iTunes

I have four questions regarding submission. One, how long does it take for a podcast to be accepted and found on the iTunes store? Two, how does iTunes define- copyright? I have heard numerous podcasts with sound bytes taken from tv and radio programs, and they have all been approved. This leads me to my final questions. If I have two sound bytes in my newest podcast series that I have just submitted, one is an ad for Lost and the other is a 40 second sound byte from an interview show on tv, how likely is it for iTunes to accept my new podcast series and how will I find out?
    Thanks!

If you look at Apple's technical specifications for podcasts here:

  • There was an error in submitting your podcast

Like a number of folks who have been sharing their experiences with the configuration and use of Podcast Producer 2, I have a tale to tell. After a number of reinstalls of SLS on my new Mac Mini server, I couldn't get past the message in the subject line, when using Podcast Capture. While searching this forum, I came across a couple of references to making sure the "tunnel" options were properly configured in the member_preferences plist. When I looked at mine, there appeared to be the right references to my FQDN, so I thought this was another dead end for my problem. I decided to google "tunnel" and Snow Leopard Server, and one of the things that showed up in the installation and setup worksheet was:
Your AirPort Extreme Base Station or Time Capsule must have its Connection Sharing option set to “Share a public IP address” (that is, an Internet connection). In addition, the advanced option IPv6 Mode must be set to Tunnel.
I remembered that I had set up the server to administer my Time Capsule, but I hadn't checked this because it seemed to be working fine; but, my IPv6 mode was set to something else. I selected "Tunnel" and saved and restarted the Time Capsule.
Next stop was to try Podcast Capture again.
    It worked!
I don't know if anyone else will find himself on this path in the future, but if so, I hope this information is useful.

Hello CultureTV, and welcome to the AppleBoards,
Since your problem isn't Xserve specific I think you'll probably be much better served in the Podcast Producer discussion group.

  • How do you submit a podcast to iTunes? The instruction page is outdated

I spent 8 hours today trying to figure out how to submit my podcast to iTunes. The PODCASTING AND ITUNES: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION page has outdated information. For instance where it says under TESTING YOUR FEED to select "Subscribe to Podcast" in the Advanced menu. There is no option in the new 7.0 iTunes matching this. Later, under SUBMITTING YOUR PODCAST TO ITUNES it says under the "Music Store" category to click on podcasts, but once again there is no option for podcasts there. If somebody can explain how to submit a podcast to iTunes, it would be so much appreciated. Our podcast is new, but our radio show has been around for a long time. The link to our rss feed has been tested and it works. It is and http://www.rnnradio.com/rss2.aspx
    Please help!

The following short cuts shoul help you make iTunes more like it used to.
ALT shows the menu bar temporarily
    CTRL+B show/hide menu bar
    CTRL+S show/hide side bar
    CTRL+/ show/hide status bar
To make search more like it was, click on magnifying glass in search bar and uncheck "search entire library"

  • Timeout error when submitting feedburner podcast feed to itunes

This is my first time submitting my podcast to itunes, I have created the feed with feedburner and I can manually subscribe and download the podcast in itunes however when i try to submit the feed I recieve the generic timout error, see below. I have tried for several days with different machines to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Feed Address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThePortcast
    Thanks in advance.

The feed appears to be OK; sometimes individual servers can behave oddly with the Store but as yours is a Feedburner feed there shouldn't be any problem, so there is no obvious reason why this is happening.
You could try the allternative submission URL:
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast
If that doesn't work one possibility is that there is a problem at the Store end, which does happen though it doesn't usually go on for several days. You could try emailing support at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I have to say that you likely won't get a helpful answer. Otherwise I can only suggest giving it a day or two and trying again.

  • Several weeks after submitting podcast to iTunes and still not there

I submitted a podcast that I created for work many weeks ago now (over 1 month) and, for some reason, it still isn't showing up when I search for it in the iTunes store. I've tried resubmitting the podcast, but iTunes tells me that it has already been submitted.
    The feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/ASHAPodcast
Of course, I can subscribe with a direct link, but I'd like it for folks to be able to search for it in iTunes to find it.
Anyone know what the problem is, or how I can resolve it?
    PC   Windows XP Pro

When you submitted the podcast to iTunes, if it was accepted, you should have received an email from the iTunes staff indicating that your podcast was accepted and it listed a link directly to the iTunes podcast page for that feed.
    Something like the following:
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast, located at [ http://example.com/example.xml ], has been approved. You should expect to see it in iTunes within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=0000000
If you have questions or wish to make changes to your feed, please consult the technical spec at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html. The spec contains detailed information about key topics like adding "cover art", changing your feed URL, and adding other helpful iTunes-specific tags to your podcast.
There is also an Apple Discussions Forum exlcusively for podcast producers, located here: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1107. If you have a question or a problem that the technical spec cannot answer, the community of iTunes podcasters may be able to provide valuable guidance.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Store Team
If you never received an acceptance email, it may not have been accepted or it was sent to someone else. They will send an email to the <itunes:email> email address in the feed and the email address of the apple account who submitted the feed.
