Subreports always start in a new page

Hi,
I have 4 subreports in 1 page, based on the suggestions from this forum, I put them into 4 different GroupHeaderSections so all the data is displayed. The problem I have now is that if a subreport is too big, it will start a new page and leave a big blank on the previous page. How can I make all subreports follow each other and go to a new page only when extra space is needed.

Hi John,
This becomes hard because if Crystal thinks the first page of the subreport is too large to fit on the current page of the main report it will force it onto a new page. This is the same as how Word handles images and tables.
I'd recommend looking at the design of the subreports and possibly minimizing the rows they are returning. Possibly decreasing the font size and row heights.

My tables always start on a new page – why?

When I use a table Pages always creates a new page an starts there with the table. I want the table in the text. I don’t find a reason. It hasen’t always been like this.

As far as I know, it's not the normal behavior.
Look at these two screenshots of the same document.
I gave a green background to the 3rd paragraph so that it would be easy to see its location after the insertion of a large table.
As you may see, the table pushed the text exactly as it's supposed to do.
So I decided to make some complementary tests and I discovered that I was able to force the described behavior.
It just requires that I define line spacing as "Exactly".
Maybe your text is using this setting.

After you check the new page after, click on the X+2 button to enter a formula.
In the formula type this:
Not OnLastRecord

Inline table in Pages '08 must start on a new page if it doesn't fit?

I edit a newsletter with several tables in it. In Pages '05, I used a Layout break after the previous text, then put in the inline table. As the tables I use are around two thirds of a page long, Pages '05 split the table over two pages, automatically (and helpfully) repeating the headers on the second part of the table.
In Pages '08, I can't seem to avoid the table moving to start at the top of a new page, whether I have a layout break or a section break, or neither, before the table.

Peggy, I'm having the same problem. I do lots of multi-page tables that have a large number of cells with single line of text in each cell. The one I'm looking at right now has a row height of 0.21" for 42 rows. There are four lines of text on the page above where the table should start, and when I insert the table from Numbers, it jumps to the first line of the next page and cascades as it should. In Pages 2, I could insert a layout break after the last character of text on the page, set the top layout margin to 0.125" and the table would start on the first line of the new layout, cascading over any additional pages necessary.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't get Firefox to start with a blank page, which I always managed to do up till 17.0, buy now it always starts with the last page.

I have been using Firefox for several years, and know how to set my Home Page by going to Tools/Options/General, and selecting the appropriate tab.
However, since the last update to 17.0.1, It now always starts as it was when I shut down, including multiple windows if I had them open. It is so irritating that I am considering changing my browser.

Subreport repeating and supress the new page

Hi, I make a report with Crystal report and I use a subreport.
This subreport is repeating some information. Why when a subreport is repeating something it begin on a new page.
I subreport which doesn't repeat it's ok but the other.
It's possible to say that it begin where I will.
If someone has an idea.

It is with the different section make sure that you have checked this option : conserve unity, it's the check box before delete the empty section.
Try it and I hope this will work.

Alias always starts in a new context

Hi experts,
i defined an alias for a statefull BSP page. If i open the thame alias url in a second browser window, everthing starts in the same user session (seen in SM04) but in a new context. All data are lost. After starting the second browser window also the first browser window show the data from the new context.
If a try this without alias, the second browser window shows the same data like thie first window.
I tried this with an alias for a copy of the page "session_test.htm" of the bsp application "system" an a NW 70.
Is this a feature, a bug or a mistake of mine?

Ok. I found the answer.
I just used the alias as browser url without any information about the page. The error handling then read the default page of the BSP application and always add an 'sap-sessioncmd=open' to the header fields.

Whenever I click one of my bookmarks (not all), it always opens the BBC News page and not the original target page. Any clues anyone please?

In fact I just tried another and it opened the Yahoo home page. All the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar work fine, but anything outside of that doesn't. Mostly it opens the http://news.bbc.co.uk.
Any help would be much appreciated.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Force PageFooter Section to Always Print on New Page

I think it is not possible to use the option for page footer as new page after or new page before as these options are greyed out. Do you have a seperate data to show in page footer? and do you want to repeat it for all pages? If it is a static data then you can directly place them in page footer. Could you please explain me in brief what exactly the output you are looking for?havendra

How to always start ipad app with first page?

Hi,
I'm creating an ipad app using InDesign CC.
Right now when I close the app and open it again it shows the last page before closing.
Is there a way to tell the app to always start from the first page?

Cannot start new page/access templates

Mac Mini. OSX 10.4.8
iLife installed from iLife disks, iWeb v. 1.1.2 from disk - Family Pack
iWeb is working on one computer.
iWeb will not work on the Mac Mini - it starts but the New Page from File menu is grayed out, as are all other commands. Cannot access templates either.
I do not see a newer version on downloads, not sure what to do.

This is a fairly common problem. The easiest approach is to open iPhoto, pick a photo or an album, and either click the iWeb button at the bottom of the iPhoto screen or go to the Share menu and choose iWeb. It may take several tries, but eventually iPhoto should force iWeb to open and ask you to choose a template. After that the controls should work for you.
Several months ago I read up on the problem in these forums and compiled a list of solutions based on posts here. If the iPhoto doesn't work, take a look at the other options listed here.

How do I insert a page break on certain rows in a Numbers spreadsheet.

Set your view to "Print View" and you will see the individual pages. More pages will be added as you drag content away from the existing pages.
Arrange your content as you would like to see it printed. That's it. What you see is what will print.

Applet viewer always starts in IE6

I have an html file with an applet tag. This always starts in a new window as the Applet viewer. I obviously want it to start in the same window as the html page.
Other Applets like fphover don't do this.

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to add visual components to the window, and found the mistake was creating a new Frame() object in the Applet. This creates a new Applet viewer window, which seems obvious in retrospect.
If you just add components to the this object in the Applet as in
this.add(SubmitButton, null);
instead of creating a new Frame object, the objects appear in the same window as the html page.

Book: how can I avoid chapters starting at a fresh page?

Hi, I would like the chapters of my book to not start at a new page each but right where the previous chapter ended... I just cant figure out how. Any suggestions?

If the chapters are in separate files, then you will have to create a new file and use text insets to import each chapter sequentially to make a seamless document. Otherwise, FM will always start a new file on a new page.
