Subscribe doesn't work

Hi,
I've published my iWeb site ( http://www.thedownlowconcept.com ) to an external server and My subcribe button on my blog ( http://www.thedownlowconcept.com/DOWNLOWBlog/DOWNLOWBlog.html ) isn't working.
I entered the URL ( http://www.thedownlowconcept.com ) in the the field when I published it to folder.
Why won't it work?
Can any boby help me?
Have I missed something?

You broke the site structure produced by iWeb by failing to upload the folder called "thedownlowconcept" (plus the index.html file which is produced by iWeb alongside that folder).
If you do not like the duplication in the url which this causes, change the name of your site inside the iweb app to something short like dlc and republish.

Calendar doesn't work in 3.1

Hi, I am a MobileMe subscriber and have an ntlworld mail account (virginmedia) but I can't accept meeting invites sent from my Lotus Notes work account nor from my wife's Outlook accounts.
I can accept the invites in Mail in OSX 10.5.8, but not Iphone 3.1
Hope this major bug will be fixed soon.
I also can't invite other people to meeting invites I create on my iphone, yet the manuals say I can. Hopefully this bug will be fixed also.

What's the point in MobileMe then? I signed up and paid for it so I could have a central calendar at home like I do at work!
I think that's disgraceful to sell a service that doesn't work properly like normal calendars.

IPod Nano Video-Out to TV (Via new Apple Component cable) DOESN"T WORK

It doesn't work on my nano. The sound plays fine, the video is distorted. It isn't the cable, since I have an iPod Touch that displays fine.
I've tinkered with the settings : Widescreen, NTSC, Fit to Screen, etc... none of it helps. Still shows a distorted image (like when a computer displays the wrong resolution on a screen, or the way a channel on Cable looks if you aren't subscribed to it).
Is my Nano defective? Am I going to have to rally up several other Nano users with similar issues, post it up on my blog?
Anyone can help me?
Also, my iPod Touch doesn't display photo transitions (cube, wipe, etc) only fades.... even though I've attempted switching the settings. Only works when the component cable is disconnected. Any help on this too?

Did you check the settings on the TV itself? Are you feeding the video through a A/V receiver?
Those may also be distorting your picture.
In my case, I'm going from my Nano>Yamaha A/V receiver>Mitsubishi 65" WS TV.
Once I set my receiver up, and set my TV to standard, I was getting a distortion-free picture (at least with the "Jack-Jack" short that I got free from iTunes). My setting in the Nano were WS & NTSC. Everything was cool (I was surprised on how good the picture looked, but then my Yamaha is great for upscaling).
I don't know if this helped, but if you list a little more about your config, I might be able to assit better.

4. Visit http://my-site.com/scripts/form_check.php in a web browser and make sure you see all green checkmarks. If some items do not display green checkmarks that means that the hosting server is not configured correctly to allow the Form widgets to send email messages to the address you've specified.
Contact your web-hosting provider about the server configuration problem. Describe the items that are not marked as green in the form check page, so that they can help you set up the servers to use the correct settings.

Feature setting Masterpage & CSS doesn't work when included in SiteTemplate - but does work when activated manually

Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange behaviour recently. I wrote a feature with an EventReceiver that sets the masterpage and alternate css file for the current spweb it is activated for. When I activate that feature manually it works like expected. But if I include
the same feature in a SiteTemplate and it is called during site-creation, it doesn't work. I debugged it and stepped through it. As far as I can tell everything looks right. It sets the masterpage and css file like it should and throws no error. But when the
site loads in the end, it suddenly still uses the v4.master and no alternateCSS. How can that be?
If I deactivate the feature then manually and activate it again, it works...

You can put a copy of your master page within the template site, use that for the site's master page, and then save the site as a template then check whether it works.

The enclosure in RSS feed doesn't work for Itune

I subscribed to my podcast rss feed to ITune, which was valid and had been tested successfully with other aggregator such as Ipodder, however, it doesn't work for ITune. When I hit "get" button next to my podcast name, I always get "!" sign in front of the name, and when I clicked it, I got error message "There was a problem downloading 'XXXXX'. The network connection could not be made".
I'm not sure if this problem resulted from the "rewrite" function I used on my podcasting server in order to track the downloading. Here is how it works: When a mp3 file is requested, my web server will redirect the request to another asp.net program to do something and then redirect to the real mp3 file for downloading. Can it be problem in Itune? But I can use this enclosure url to download this mp3, and also the Ipodder works file with this rss feed.
Any help will be appreciated.

* 302s will be followed to a depth of 5 redirects and will not update the feed URL in the directory.
* The URL before the GET-style form values (before the first ?) must end in a media file extension (e.g. mp3). To work around this, the feed provider can alter their URL from this:
http://www.podcaster.com/load.php?f=&Wipeout.php
to this:
http://www.podcaster.com/load.mp3?f=&Wipeout.mp3
Notice how it says load.mp3 instead of load.php. It should be possible to accomplish this via various means, such as web server rewrites. iTunes looks at the extension of the path part of the url, i.e. the part before the”?”.
The http request redirection is allowed as long as the appropriate file extension such as ".mp3" is used.
By the way, I tested it with "no redirection" version, which worked fine.

RSS Subscribe Button doesnt work

When I save my site to a folder and try to upload the folder to my host provider, the RSS subscribe button shows the following:
http://www.cwa3407.org/LU3407/Blog/rss.xml
The problem seems to be that LU3407 needs to be taken out for this button to work. What is the best way to edit the html code for iWeb or the easiest way to fix this problem?
The line should look like:
http://www.cwa3407.org/Blog/rss.xml
I can not figure out a way to save my file, without this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

The RSS doesn't work because you broke the site structure created by iWeb by not uploading a key part of it. You need to upload the folder LU3407 and the index.html file published alongside it. If you just upload the contents of that folder, the links aren't right.

I'm trying to set up a new feed reader (Brief) using Live Bookmarks but the suscribe button doesn't work. Anyone got a solution to this?

I'm currently using Google reader for my feeds but Google is discontinuing it in July. So I need a new feed reader option. I am trying to set up the Brief add-on as my reader, using Live Bookmarks but when I attempt to subscribe to a feed, the subscribe button doesn't work.

WP Greek Century in Mac doesn't work with Dreamweaver

I am a many year PC user and have finally made the leap too Mac and its another learning curve .. That said, in Dreamweaver and in Mac, WP Greek Century does not work! I have reloaded the font and all I see is the alpha #.   If I load it into any browser, it still will not read greek. My old PC didn't have a problem with this. Some of the download sites say that this font, WP Greek Century, works with both PC and Mac. The one odd spin to all this is that this greek font works in Fireworks ... Is there anything I can do to make it work in Dreamweaver? Please advise and thanks. Mark

Fonts don't work on the web like they do in print. Any font you use on a
website will require that the end user have that same font installed on
their system.
I did try to load that font from a free source (assuming this is how you
got it). It is a PC TrueType and doesn't appear to work at all on the
Mac. Now if you are looking for just a few characters you can code this
into the HTML:
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/bylanguage/greekchart
.html . As far as other fonts, this greek font seems to work on Mac:
http://www.dafont.com/ancient-geek.font . But again, it's not a web-font
so you won't be legally allowed to use it on web pages, and it will only
work if the end user has that font installed on their system, unlike the
HTML entities previously linked.

Site doesn't work in Microsoft explorer 6 PC

I've made a site in golive CS3 on a Mac. On all browsers Safari - Firefox - Opera - internet explorer it works perfect .

There appears to be an object (probably an empty text frame) on top obscuring most (all?) of the menu. The object has no stroke or fill. IE up through 10 have a bug that allows mouse events to pass through objects that have no fill or stroke (that's contrary to the HTML spec and not how other browsers work).
Remove the empty object and everything should work as expected.

Creative Cloud Updater doesn't work

Hello,
last year I downloaded a trial version for the creative cloud. Then I decided to buy a normal CS6 license and didn't use CC anymore.
Now I would like to try Adobe Muse. But somehow I just can't use the CC updater anymore. When I try to install it again, the installation just stops, without a warning or anything and nothing happens.
I hope somebody can help me, thank you!

N900 Water Damage / Vibrate doesn't work

My phone was exposed to water and I read an article to use white rice to soak up the water and hope it works. Well, it works...but the vibrate feature when receiving messages, phone calls on silent, etc...doesn't work. Anything I can do to make it work again? Like a master reset? Or is there nothing I can do in this instance?

Accidents happen with phones and water but it doesn't always mean that all hope is lost. Below is a brief guide as to what you should do if your phone has been totally immersed in water.
1. Take the phone out of the water as quickly as possible.
2. Do not attempt to switch it on as this may cause further damage.
3. Remove the battery as quickly as you can, also remove the memory and sim cards.
4. If dropped in fresh water dry it off with a towel. If dropped in salt water rinse it thoroughly with fresh water. I know it sounds crazy getting it wet again but salt can cause a lot of internal damage such as corrosion. Again dry with a towel. You may also want to rinse it if you dropped it in a toilet.
5. Place the phone, battery and it's wet accessories in a plastic container (like a lunch box) and completely cover it with uncooked rice, use plenty of it. Again this sounds crazy but rice has desiccating properties that help draw the water out of the phone. Do not place a lid on the container.
6. Place the container somewhere very warm and dry for at least 3 days. An airing cupboard is often the ideal place.
7. Do not use a hair dryer directly on the phone to speed up the process. Too much heat can cause even more damage.
This isn't guaranteed to work but many people have successfully revived their phones and retrieved their data using this method.
Keep in mind that your phone is on borrowed time after you do this. Make it your first priority to retrieve any data that you would like to keep. It may only work for a few minutes, days, weeks, months or it may even last years.
You should monitor the phone carefully during charging. If it gets very hot the battery may be damaged and should be replaced.
After any exposure to water you no longer have a warranty as water damage is not covered. Any insurance policies on the phone may also be voided unless you are covered for accidental damage.
A more efficient alternative to rice is silica gel. You most likely won't have enough of the stuff to hand when the accident happens but it is good to use. Silica gel can be bought from electronic wholesalers like this example. Thank you to shuntfield for this information.

Technical support told me that HBO doesn't work with TiVO

So I called technical support to activate my TiVO Premiere (cablecard) and he was successful in helping me activate and view my channels. I currently subscribe to Fios Local, HBO and Showtime. The local channels and Showtime work, but HBO doesn't. He told me, very unconfidently, that HBO doesn't work on Tivos, and that he's sorry for the inconvenience. I have friends with TiVOs that work on Fios with HBO, and I've not experienced this problem stated ANYWHERE on the internet. HBO should work. I asked him to validate my premium channels, and he insisted that HBO wouldn't work. The last time I had FIOS (January 2014) it did work. What do I need to do to get HBO to work?
