  • How to use "subscribe to photo feed" in iPhoto?

Apple really created some headaches when they dumped Gallery before Photo Stream Sharing was ready. So I have been looking for a substitute.
I see under iPhoto's File menu a feature called "Subscribe to Photo Feed".  But I can't find anything about how to use it, or how to manage subscriptions.
The best I can do is to find this is used to access RSS feeds. If so, is there anyway to automatically share photos added to iPhoto to an RSS feed? Or even manually to something like Twitter?
Anybody got any experience with this?

Thanks Terence. But I am aware. What I'm looking for is a whole solution. In other words, I need to not only be able to subscribe from within iPhoto, but also share to the rest of my friends and family with Macs from iPhoto.
I'm actually stunned that there is not more information online about how Photo Feeds work. I don't even really know what to expect to see in iPhoto.
Nevertheless, using Mountain Lion, and iOS 5 I'm looking at sharing photos with Twitter (used explicitly for photos), then having my friends and family subscribe to the Twitter RSS feed in their iPhoto app. However, it appears there's no way to get the Twitter RSS URL. So that seems to leave that option dead in the water. I suppose my friends and family could just follow my Twitter feed, assuming they can easily access it online. It would be much better to have a solution where the photos are automatically downloaded and they can look at them at their leisure.
I don't think Photo Feed subscriptions are available in iOS devices, including the Apple TV. So that limits them to the Mac.
Maybe I should just wait for iOS 6 and Photo Stream Sharing in what, September, October?

  • How do you subscribe to photo feeds?

    Hi!
Could someone please tell me how to subscribe to photo feeds? I know where the option is in iPhoto but when I tried typing in the URL for a deviantArt picture group that I was interested in receiving it did not allow me to do it.
Which websites does it work with?
    Thanks,
    Shams.

Now if you want to just subcribe to the Group in general; as soon as you get to desired group listing, before clicking on a topic, look to right and click on email notification.
Also if your tired of a Particular Group when you go to that group click again to discontinue email notification. It will not stop other threads on your post , but will stop email Notifications.
You can also set in prefrence to receive notication to Topics you reply to

  • Subscribe to photo feed rss does not include movies

I'm subscribing to a photo feed from my pogoplug. It gets all the photos from the rss feed, but skips everything else (i.e., movies). Is that normal, or should it be capturing everything in the feed, including movies?

have you tried the PogoPlug support?

  • Subscribe to Picasa Photo Feed in iPhoto '09 or '11?

A colleague uploaded 100+ photos to her Picasa account.  I can view the photos and download them one ... at ... a ... time.  I'd really like to download the entire Picasa album.
I found iPhoto '09's File > Subscribe to Photo Feed, but it's unhappy with Picasa's RSS URL:
A variety of Community posts and other forum notes from around the Web report this worked in iPhoto '08.  But I've found no mention of using the Subscribe feature with iPhoto '09 or '11.
At this point, I'd welcome any way to do a bulk download from Picasa on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

    Hello!
I think I just figured it out... when you go to get the RSS feed on your PIcasa account it has "https:" in the address like this
    feed:https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base....
If you delete the "https:" and have an address like this you will be good to go! feed://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base...
    Hope that works for you!

  • Photo feeds do not download high resolution photo's: why???

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto '09 to subscribe to photo feeds, unfortunately iPhoto only downloads the low res thumbnails and not the high resolution images that are also included in the feeds. This makes it pretty much worthless, since the low res images are really bad in iPhoto.
Is there a way to convince iPhoto that it should download the picture identified by the URL in the <media:content> tag and not the <media:thumbnail> tag?
    Regards,
    Gero

I have same problem when i print from Iphoto 09 to printer the same picture in Iphoto 08 came out as it should. I don't know if your soulion will work for me and am not quit clear on how to go about it THANK YOU

  • What HTTP caching headers will prevent iPhoto from re-downloading each image in a "Photo Feed" every time it checks the feed for new content?

I've noticed a practical issue with iPhoto's File->"Subscribe to Photo Feed..." feature.
Every time that iPhoto checks a subscribed RSS Photo Feed for new content it will re-download each and every photo in the feed.  This occurs even if iPhoto has already downloaded each image, they all have unique GUIDs set, and no content in the feed has changed since the last time it polled for it.
My best guess is that this happens if the server offering the feed does not produce the proper cache-control parameters in the HTTP Headers that are sent by the server when the RSS feed is accessed by iPhoto.
Does anyone know what parameter/value pairs need to be set in the HTTP headers to prevent iPhoto from re-downloading RSS enclosures that it already has?
This is a very practical problem for feeds with a large number of photos of large file size.  Besides the obvious massive waste of bandwidth, the user receives an annoying error whenever they try to quit iPhoto before the feed and all of it's images have been re-downloaded yet again.

Here is an example of the HTTP headers for two of the images in the feed.
Any red flags in there that you think might be causing iPhoto to think it needs to re-download the images after it's already downloaded them once?

  • Photos of Photo-Feed created in iWeb'08 won't appear in iPhoto'08

    Hi,
I have a strange problem, to which I did not find any post yet.
I have created a personal home page with iWeb including foto albums One of these is updated from time to time, so I thought of using the new photo feed option in iWeb.
The feed works in Safari, one can subscribe to it and the photos are linked from the RSS page.
I can also subscribe from within iPhoto using the subscribe button on the home page or copying the link from the RSS page within Safari.
At first, it seems regularly working: the feed name is displayed, the buttom on the right turns and network activity is seen (activity monitor). However, only the dotted blank frames for the fotos (exact number!) is displayed, no foto is downloaded. This is the same behaviour on my Intel MacMini and PowerBook.
With flickr foto feeds, this works as it should.
With iPhoto'06, the subscription works as well!
I am using the latest update iPhoto 7.1.2 (today's version, but was the same with the oder versions).
    Any ideas?

Thank You for your reply. my website is www.the-culture.net its a store through shopify.com. How would i go about giving them absolute link to my remote server?
You could copy the images link from the pages code and link it to your html email:
    http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0150/7840/products/download_277fab2f-4e46-44b1-a4b4-34fd1 7e5a2dd_large.jpeg?v=140603487…
    BUT
I would just upload the images to YOUR server in a folder and link the images in the html email to those.

  • Screen saver from remote photo feed?

This is both an iPhoto and an OS X question.  A few years ago I was able to 1) use iPhoto to automatically sync an album up to my apple cloud storage and then 2) configure my mom's computer's screen saver to subscribe to that feed so she could see all the photos.  This was a great system, it just worked, when I dragged notable pictures in iPhoto into that album, they started showing up on her screen saver a thousand miles away.
It appears that at least one half of this capability -- screen savers from remote servers -- is gone in Lion, and perhaps the iPhoto album sync-to-cloud feature too, I haven't checked, it doesn't matter since I would need both halves.
Does anyone know a way to do this still under Lion or a piece of software I could purchase that would do this easily?  I do NOT want to cobble together some myriad of complex pieces involving iPhoto manual file exports and other manual steps -- I want something that is seamless and automated.  Thanks.

    Afraid not.

  • Subscribe to RSS Feed - Bing Wallpaper

    Hi -
I just downloaded iPhoto from the app store for Mac OS X Lion and I would like to subscribe to the bing rss wallpaper feed.  I found the link http://themeserver.microsoft.com/default.aspx?p=Bing&c=Desktop&m=en-US and when I put that into the subscribe to RSS feed option in iPhoto it sets it up, but it will only download the first 5 images in the feed.  It shows spots for another 143 images, but they are just boxes.  I'm trying to set that up so I can rotate through the images as desktop wallpaper.  Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
PS - Are there any other feeds similar to what Bing offers that work well with iPhoto?

I couldn't get any photos to load in iPhoto, but it did show that there were 50+ items.  I think it has to do with the way the RSS feed puts the images in enclosures.  If you view such a feed in Google Reader, it wont show the pictures either, only links to the images.
So I solved my problem, which was using the images from the themeserver feed as my wallpaper, but I also use Parallels and subscribe to the feed on my Windows 7 Theme.
The Windows 7 theme stores the images in a Temporary Internet Files folder, mine was at c:\users\(username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Enclosure\
On the Mac side I opened my Parallels PVM package and drilled down to that location, then created an alias to that folder and put it under my Mac Pictures folder for easy finding.
Then in Sys Prefs I set this alias folder as my folder for Wallpaper images and set auto rotation.
It works ok since I run parallels, but relies on me running the VM to refresh the images.
If someone else finds a way to get the images to show in iPhoto I'd be interested. Or find a way to cache feed images (in the feed format Themserver uses) to a local folder would work too.

  • RSS photo feeds for screen saver

I have been trying to find a few good RSS photo feeds to add to the screensaver in Leopard but am not having any luck. The only one I could find was a Rolling Stone mag feed (http://www.rollingstone.com/rssxml/photos.xml) but the pics are really low res and display horribly. There must be other photo feeds to subscribe to. Anyone know a resource to check out or any personal favorites?

I was having a similar problem, the feed I wanted did not work in the "Mobile Me and RSS" photo screensaver. The website I wanted was <http://icanhascheezburger.com/> I was trying the link <feed://feeds.feedburner.com/ICanHasCheezburger> This is the link used by Safari and when used as a screensaver, it returns the error message "+Your selected subscriptions have no pictures...+" When you click the RSS link on the page it takes you to <http://feedproxy.google.com/ICanHasCheezburger> which when used in photo screensaver works fine.

  • N900 won´t subscribe to rss feeds

    hi guys,
the rss feed reader refuses to download any rss feeds. neither the two pre-installed ones, nor any other. once, i managed to download an opml file on my phone and using that i was able to physically add a new rss feed which however contained no posts and failed to update. all the other times pressing "subscribe to rss feed" in the browser opens the reader and after approving by pressing the "done"  button it tries to connect to the feed for 1-2 min without success.
    any suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

actually most of the feeds don´t show up in the list. when i add one in the browser im asked in which folder it should go and need to confirm by pressing "done". after doing so the phone tries to connect to the feed but always without success. after 1 or 2 min it returns to the previous screen (choose folder and confirm by "done" button). that is, the feed is never added to the list in the first place.
when i store the opml file on the phone and open it via rss-browse i can add a feed from the file to the list but it is marked with "!" indicating the connection error although the url is correct.

  • Aperture 3 and Photo-Feeds

how can I suscribe to Photo-Feeds? In iPhoto this works easily with "cmd and U".

Where's the shame? Aperture is a pro app. It's geared towards RAW shooting working photographers. So the features are different and more in line with the work aspect of photography. There's no photo RSS feature in Aperture, just like there aren't piano lessons in Logic Pro.
    Besides, both apps can coexist.

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.

Subscribing to a feed is pretty easy in Firefox. Just take a look at [http://kb.mozillazine.org/RSS:_Live_Bookmarks_overview_%28Firefox%29 this article] and you should be ready to go.
