Subscribe to podcast issue

Hi, I'm sure this question has been posted a lot elsewhere, but I can't find a solution that works. So...
When I (or my mates) attempt to subscribe to my podcast (I'm using firefox), a page with the following text appears "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
According to a couple of posts i've read, it may be a firefox issue, or it may have something to do with my hosting company (I don't have a .mac account). Does any of this ring a bell?
I can subscribe in iTunes, but I don't want my site users getting tweaked or confused if they try to subscribe via my site (www.sixtycrickets.com).
Many many thanks!

With regards to your Podcast submission difficulties,
you can always try to submit your podcast URL
directly to iTunes. Just control-click on the
subscribe button on your webpage and then copy the
link (but you will have to change the "itpc://" to
"http://". Here are the steps...
1. Open iTunes, click on the Music Store
2. Select Podcast under the "Choose Genre" pulldown
menu on the left hand side of the page.
3. Click on "Submit Podcast" underneath the pulldown
menu
4. Enter the Podcast feed URL copied from your
subscribe button but modified with "http://" prefix
instead of the "itpc://"
5. You'll be asked for your Apple ID logon info.
6. That's it! You'll get a series of emails
confirming the receipt of your submission and
approval of it inclusion.
Thanks again. Do you recommend going through the resubmission process even if I already have a podcast posted to iTunes? I don't want to make things more confusing.

"it should work - but without a paid support plan, we cannot allocate someone to solve it"
Billing even forwarded it back to Azure Support, who then called me, walked me through the issue,  took screen shots - forwarded it back to Billing.

  • Unable to subscribe to Podcasts anymore

Hi all, I recently moved my iTunes Library to Users / shared folder and ever since have not been able to update or Subscribe to Podcasts.
When I attempt to update an existing Podcast a small exclamation mark appears along side the podcast folder.........I'm a big Podcast user and am really missing them, does anyone have any suggestions to solve this?
    Regards

I found this article from Apple http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300870#mac24 it claims the problem is either:
    (a) out of date software (I updated 7.6.1 and I had the problem before and after the update)
    (b) keychain problem (I've verified my keychain, and also logged in manually without any luck)
    (c) My ISP is blocking traffic (I posted on the IGN Mac forum and another user is on the same ISP in the same city with no issues)
I really hope it's not the ISP, Apple points to a document (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106439) I should use to help my ISP configure their servers correctly - yeah right, like my ISP is really gonna do that!

  • Unable to subscribe to podcasts in ItunesU

    Hi folks,
I know this was an issue back in August 06, but is there a way for students to select the subscribe button to subscribe to podcasts in ItunesU? I know that Berkeley or Stanford has this working but I never saw an answer to this problem in the thread in late summer. I've put up both mp3 files and used Garageband to create enhanced podcasts for import into ItunesU, but the subscribe buttons don't show even if the album info is set to "original."

Hi. Check the 'Edit Track Preferences' area in your admin links. You should see an option to 'Enable Course page podcasting'.

  • Can't subscribe to podcasts

I'm trying to subscribe to video podcasts, but when I click the "subscribe" button iTunes says "Accessing Music Store" for a moment, then does nothing. The podcast is not added to my Podcasts list.
I have reinstalled iTunes 6.0.5, I even reinstalled OSX, but I still get the same problem.
Any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Go to your preferences for itunes (bar at top of computer screen) and under "general" make sure podcasts are checked. I had the same issue and now I can subscribe. Hope this works for you. This is for Macs.
On your PC you go to "advanced" at the top of itunes and click "subscribe to podcast"

  • Ipod update issues. podcast issues. tv show problems. very angry.

Ok. I have a barrage of problems. I went to the apple store and they gave me a new ipod hoping that fixes some of the issues. It didn't. I won't be in town for a while so I cant go back to the store.
First off. I originally had a post about my problems here.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8362332#8362332
What changed from that, since getting the new ipod, is that I deleted all my tv shows ( i havnt even tried to replace them yet) I deleted and re-subscribed my podcasts. Now when i try to update my ipod, the podcasts freeze up and crash the ipod.
I have done EVERYTHING to try and fix this.
    I fixed permissions.
    Reinstalled, itunes and quicktime.
Deleted anything with itunes in it name.
    Deleted preferences.
Deleted all my podcasts and re downloaded them.
This just started happening, i don't remember downloading anything to cause this.
If anyone can help, that would be cool.
Also, I get this on my console repeatedly,
    11/3/08 12:40:13 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.app4mac.CheckUpAgent[1202]) posix_spawn("/Applications/CheckUp.app/Contents/MacOS/CheckUpAgent", ...): No such file or directory

Ok. New development. I have a bootable external and I backed everything up to it. I decided to boot into it, and voila! Everything plays and works fine. I updated my ipod and only one problem still exists. Podcast still transfer without me wanting them to. Everything else is fine. I'm beginning to wonder if its a hardware problem on my mac.

  • Batch Subscribe to Podcast (add multiple Feed URLs at once)

Is there any way to Subscribe to many podcasts at once given their feed urls? I currently have an Excel file containing the feed URLs
The "Subscribe to Podcast..." only allows entering a single URL. I have tried various delimiters (<newline>, ",", ";", etc.) to no avail.
Is there any other sort of feed import option I am missing?
    Thanks

A workaround I have resorted to is making .url Internet Shortcut files for each feed URL, selecting multiple shortcuts at once and then dragging them into the iTunes Podcasts list.
I've created a simple python script to take a text file containing URLs and generate an internet shortcut for each:
    https://github.com/protonmesh/Utilities/blob/master/URLsToShortcuts.py
If you know of a better way, please share!

  • Is "Advanced|Subscribe to Podcast..." better than via iTMS?

Am I right in thinking that if I subscribe to a podcast via the subscribe button I do not link directly to the podcast's feed but to an Apple server that redirects me to the feed, and that there is a significant delay between a podcast appearing on the feed and it's appearing on Apple's server, whereas if I subscribe manually via "Advanced|Subscribe to Podcast..." I link directly to the feed and hence get my podcasts all the sooner?
    Gosh what a long sentence.
    Gordon

    Sometimes.
Apple runs an extra review pass on XML feed files that can result in a podcast no longer updating in the store. Maybe the author adds an iTunes tag incorrectly or something like that.
Also, Apple does appear to cache some of the more popular podcasts. This does often result in a delay in seeing new podcasts compared to using a direct Subscribe URL. But it can also mean that those podcasts download much faster for you since they come from an Apple sponsored location.
For a couple podcasts I now subscribe to both the iTMS feed and the podcaster's direct feed. When the iTMS feed starts working again, I'll unsubscribe from the direct feed.
The bottom line is that podcasts come from a variety of sources and you need to check the podcaster's web site now and then to make sure your feed hasn't fallen behind for some reason.

  • Subscribing to podcast in iWeb does not work???

I created and exported to iWeb a music podcast using Garage Band. The podcast correctly imported to my iWeb website, so you can visit the site and play the podcast their. This process also creates a "subscribe to podcast" button on the iWeb website, which is supposed to allow visitors to click it and the podcast will automatically be added to their iTunes podcasts library. Well, this partially works, that is, an entry IS made in the iTunes podcasts library, but the entry does not work. It appears to reference the full text page of the podcasts webpage instead of the actual music podcast, so when you try to play the podcast within iTunes you get an error message.
Any ideas? There does not appear to be a way to correctly point the iTunes podcast entry to the actual music podcast on the website instea of the text main page.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the offer to help. Here is the website:
    http://web.mac.com/mgimbel/iWeb/Site%204/Podcast/Podcast.html
I'm not sure how to find the RSS file to send. ??
In case you're not familiar with the how the process is SUPPOSED to work between Garage Band, iWeb and iTunes, it should be a simple, 3-step AUTOMATED process:
    1. in Garage Band, you choose "send podcast to iWeb". This exports the current project to an iWeb page as a podcast. (This works)
    2. in iWeb, you publish the newly created page containing the podcast. I use .Mac, so my pages are automatically published to my .Mac account. (This also works)
    3. On the webpage at the website containing the podcast, there is a button to "subscribe" to the podcast. When you click this, it is supposed to create a podcast entry in your iTunes library, under My Podcasts. (This is where the process stops working: the entry is created in iTunes, but it does not work - i.e., it does not appear to point correctly to the podcast itself, but instead to the webpage in general that contains the podcast, and iTunes can not identify the podcast from this.)
Hopefully, that helps. Sorry if you were already familiar with the process.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

  • Subscribe to Podcast/Subscribe to rss won't work on my iweb created sight.

    Hello,
I am trying to get my podcast to sync up with itunes. I tried to make some changes to my original site, screwed it up, fixed it all but re-syncing. I have tried everything I can think both in itunes and iweb. At this point there isn't even a button where there used to be. As you can tell I am at a loss. Could someone walk me through it. I am getting really frustrated. I have mobileme. I tried going to the insert>button>subscribe to podcast button. I have tried to subscribe through itunes in the advanced>get podcast. I don't know what else to do. All the obvious solutions have been used up.

Same problems with my site. I have MobileMe also. RSS and Podcast subscription doesn't work at all.
    Thanks for all advices.

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.

  • Why no "Subscribe to Podcast" capability in Apple TV 2.0?

I want to be able to subscribe to a podcast from my new Apple TV 2.0 (just purchased this week) and have it kept up to date for me without me having to have a subscription to it from iTunes on one of my computers. I am disappointed that this capability seems to be missing from Apple TV 2.0. I know for other media you don't want the Apple TV to be the only place it resides, but to me, these podcasts are ephemeral. I watch them, I delete them, and I don't need backups of them. If something went wrong with the Apple TV and I lost some podcasts that were on there, I don't care. I primarily got the Apple TV to simplify obtaining and watching these podcasts, so the lack of this capability is (almost) enough to make me want to return it ...

I agree completely. The whole point of podcasts is that you subscribe to them, forget it, then return later....voila! You have new content waiting for you. The fact that you have to keep going to the podcast directory or favorite podcast list to download the newest episode ruins the whole idea.
The way Apple TV deals with podcasts is analogous to having to call up the New York Times every time you want the newest paper delivered. What gives??
I'm aware of the fact that I can subscribe to podcasts in iTunes and set my ATV to sync with my laptop, but isn't ATV supposed to be a standalone device now? My whole reason for purchasing an ATV after the update was that I thought this was a way I could free up some HD space on my laptop and keep all the big media files like video podcasts on the AppleTV alone. I'm pretty disappointed that I can't.
I should have stuck to what I was doing before: using Miro to aggregate podcasts, then plug my laptop into the plasma with a DVI to HDMI cable.
Apple please fix this in version 2.1 so I don't feel like I just wasted $330!

I was unable to download episodes from a season I purchased. It kept giving me the same "connection has been reset" error message. But I went and clicked on support under quick links in iTunes and it allowed me to start downloading from that screen. I didn't have to go into anything, it just automatically popped up that I had items to download and asked if I wanted to download them. I clicked on it, it prompted me for my password, and then started downloading them instantly.

  • Subscribing to podcast without itunes

    Hey everyone
I produce a podcast, which is going really well! I'm starting to do some advertising and I'm creating a webpage that explains how to get the show. I've shown a option where the user can get the show without itunes but I don't know the best way to do this. I was wondering if anyone has a program or website that has a simple way for windows users to subscribe to podcast?
    Thanks
