Subscribe to podcast outside itunes store?

This should be so simple and a very desired feature. I want to create a private video podcast feed for my family to see our home videos. I would like to subscribe to a video podcast url directly from Apple TV without syncing to a computer or publishing my podcast url with itunes.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with my podcast. The last two episodes haven't shown up yet in the iTunes store. My feed (http://www.earstohearpodcast.com/feed/) is working fine. Subscribers get new episodes, etc, etc, but no matter how many times I ping iTunes, the new episodes just won't show up on my page (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=209667115). I don't know whether it's a problem with iTunes that will resolve itself, or if there's anything else I can do about it... it's a bit frustrating, though. If anyone has any ideas, they would certainly be appreciated.

  • Link to Podcast in iTunes Store Missing in iTunes 10

In previous versions of iTunes, there was a button at the right side of the "Podcast" column in list view. Clicking on this button would immediately take you to the podcast's iTunes store page where you could post a review, write a review, etc. This convenience is missing from iTunes 10.
If anyone knows of a workaround or a way to bring the button back, I would sure appreciate it!

I'm so glad to see this post here!!! When that little triangle disappeared in iTunes 10 I had a minor freak out. I have 83 different podcast feeds in my podcast list (I just counted -- that's even more than I thought I had, yeesh), and like others who commented here, I don't subscribe to all of them, but I want to check several of them on a regular basis. It's totally annoying to have to go to the store and search for the podcast each time.
I sort of wonder if it's a way to get us to navigate through the iTunes Store front page every time we want something from the podcast realm on there. In other words, is it maybe a sales tactic? Like putting chocolate bars at eye level for my kids at the supermarket checkout line?
At any rate, I'd love to see that feature back too. A LOT.

  • Error updating podcasts and itunes store

I upgraded to iTunes 8.0 recently and after that, even though i have internet access, i can not get to the iTunes store and update podcasts. please help

    Hello a.mcintyre.rn,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Music, Podcasts, and iTunes Store app on your iPad.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPad before performing the restore:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How do I list a 10.5 server user blog/podcast on iTunes Store?

It may be simple but even Enterprise support sent me here to ask.
I just had to reinstall my entire server thanks to the 10.5.6 update. I had a blog setup before as a static website and manually updated it using iWeb and then <ugly> I added all the iTunes RSS tags by hand.</ugly>
This time I want to rebuild it using the web-services "user blog" in OSX server.
I have it up now, I made a user named "podcast" and he has a user blog/podcast. Everything works fine with iTunes clients directly subscribing from our blog page. But how do I get him listed on the iTunes store? Can I keep my current (before the crash) listing at the iTunes store and just point it to the new location?
I do not see where to insert the iTunes RSS tags into the new user blog, I have poked around the collaboration folder to no avail.
    Thanks for the help!

Your new feed appears to be valid in format, but the URLs given in the 'enclosure' tags, which locate the media files for iTunes, won't work: an example is http://10.0.0.2//users/podcast/weblog/57eb8/images/a668e.mov
You need to give the full URL, accessible to the outside world. You can check the validity of a feed by using the 'Advanced' menu in iTunes and choosing 'subscribe to podcast'. This subscribes you to the feed without involving the iTunes Store.
The process for moving the feed, given in the link I gave you, needs you to have a valid feed at the old address, with the added 'itunes:new-url' tag, and a valid (ideally identical apart from that tag) feed at the new URL: obviously the old feed must be maintained until iTunes has switched to the new one (expect it to take several days). If both feeds are correct the process is seamless.
When iTunes has switched it will be reliant on the new feed, so this needs to contain all the necessary information: if you are using something built into OSX Server to make your podcast I can't advise on that and you could try the forum as I mentioned above.

  • How do I put artwork on my own podcast in itunes store?

I just created a new podcast using audacity.  Got the first episode recorded, exported as an MP3, uploaded to Podbean, submitted it to itunes and got approved.  It is now searchable in the itunes store.
When I pull it up on itunes on my computer it now shows my created artwork for the podcast.  I did this by right-clicking "get info" and saving image from my computer.  I searched for and subscribed to the podcast myself...no problems.  When I download it to my ipod it does fine and shows my artwork on the ipod.
BUT, when anyone else searches it on their own itunes, the image is just the generic podbean image...not my artwork I created for the podcast.
Can anyone help?  I am new to the whole podcast thing so if you could use easy and detailed wording I would appreciate it.  Thanks in advance!
p.s.  I am looking to apply the artwork to my entire podcast...not just a siingle episode.

There are two separate image types here.
The 'Podcast Image' which appears in the Store page is referenced in the feed in the 'itunes:image' tag. Presumably as you are using PodBean you can't modify the feed directly yourself so you will have to find out how Podbean allows you to add this tag - presumabnly by providing a place for you to specify the image.
The 'Cover Art' - the image which appears in the bottom left-hand corner of iTunes when you subscribe - is not referenced in the feed but actually embedded in the media file: from what you say you appear to have done this.

Not sure why support would have you ask that in the server/web forum. That has nothing to do with the Server OS and the Web service. I'd recommend posting in the iTunes forum. That at least has something to do with what you're trying to accomplish.
Wish I could be more help.

  • First podcast in iTunes store

Hi, I submitted my first podcast to the iTunes Music Store yesterday. I have the podcast on my .Mac homepage and submitted it through iWeb. I had two podcasts on the website, but only wanted to submit one episode, since they were on different topics, and were different files.
When I saw the podcast in the store, both of the podcast episodes were there. I went back and deleted the one that I didn't want published from the homepage. Now it seems to be working properly, but I'd like to know how to select which files actually get submitted, since I'd like to keep some podcasts just as examples on my homepage, while there are other episodes which I want to have available on iTunes.
One more question - yesterday, the iTunes listing had a link to my homepage, and today it does not. What's the reason for that? Does it have anything to do with me deleting one of the files?
Thanks for any help. As you can tell from my questions, I'm new to this.

It normally takes 12 to 36 hours for your new episode to show up on your iTunes store page.  But as you already mentioned - it will be available to anyone that is already subscribed as soon as it is released.
So at this point there is nothing you can do and nothing that is wrong - you just need to wait 12 to 36 hours for it to show up on your iTunes store page.

  • Problem with updating podcast in iTunes store

    Hey guys,
I've got a podcast that my buddy and I started 2 weeks ago, and I posted the 2nd episode, only to find that now neither the first nor second episode are listed when I click on our podcast through the iTunes store (and I didn't auto download the new episode even though I subscribed).
    Here's the feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AMSomewhere
    Here's the ping I used: https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=321702631
AND here is the store link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=321702631
If there's something obvious I've missed, let me know - that's why I'm looking for help!
    Thanks,
    Tim

Both episodes are there and the podcast can be subscribed to: everything is working correctly.

  • Accidently erased older podcast. Itunes store does not list it

I subscribe to SciFri & wan't to save a partiular episode that was downloaded 4 months ago. I accidently deleted it the other day & want to reload it. The problem is that the itunes store only lists the past 50 episodes & does not go back far enough for the one I want. I went to the SciFri site & found it there but there is no Mp3 download link that I can find. How do I go get the store to list it. It's from August?

I found the poscast in my Itunes library so I guess my problem is solved. However, I would still like to know if there is a way to list old podcasts. I have a feeling It might be related to the source web site. I went to the SciFri site & they had an archive with older podcasts that could  be listened to but not downloaded. However, podcasts less than about 2 months old were downloadable.  That may be why they were not available in Itunes. OTOH, other podcast sites have archives going back years that can be easily downloaded.I have concluded that this is probably the answer I was seeking. Any comments appreciated.

  • IPod will no longer sync podcasts from iTunes store

Both our iPod and iPod Nano will no longer sync podcasts. We have downloaded new music, which will sync, but not the new podcasts from the iTunes store. iTunes indicates that it is syncing (which takes about 1 second) but the podcasts are not synced.
We have deleted all the existing podcasts and downloaded a single new one, with no change in the problem. We have tried both iPods and the result is the same.
We are running ESET NOD32 version 3.0 for Anti-Virus. We have checked with ESET and performed the exceptions that are known to cause problems with iTunes, and there has been no change, except that iTunes no longer freezes, which it previously did.
Hopefully someone out there can help us.

easiest way i have found to resolve the issue is go into itunes while phone is plugged in. you will have a list of tabs across, summery, info, ringtones, music. select music and where it displays sync music unselect that and hit apply in the bottom right (dont worry your music should be saved on the computer) once the sync is complete re check the music sync option. ive noticed this to work 95% of the time......hope this helps
I Hope I Was Able To Help You Or Solve Your Question.

  • Subscribing to podcast without itunes

    Hey everyone
I produce a podcast, which is going really well! I'm starting to do some advertising and I'm creating a webpage that explains how to get the show. I've shown a option where the user can get the show without itunes but I don't know the best way to do this. I was wondering if anyone has a program or website that has a simple way for windows users to subscribe to podcast?
    Thanks
    Bevan

Thanks for the offer to help. Here is the website:
    http://web.mac.com/mgimbel/iWeb/Site%204/Podcast/Podcast.html
I'm not sure how to find the RSS file to send. ??
In case you're not familiar with the how the process is SUPPOSED to work between Garage Band, iWeb and iTunes, it should be a simple, 3-step AUTOMATED process:
    1. in Garage Band, you choose "send podcast to iWeb". This exports the current project to an iWeb page as a podcast. (This works)
    2. in iWeb, you publish the newly created page containing the podcast. I use .Mac, so my pages are automatically published to my .Mac account. (This also works)
    3. On the webpage at the website containing the podcast, there is a button to "subscribe" to the podcast. When you click this, it is supposed to create a podcast entry in your iTunes library, under My Podcasts. (This is where the process stops working: the entry is created in iTunes, but it does not work - i.e., it does not appear to point correctly to the podcast itself, but instead to the webpage in general that contains the podcast, and iTunes can not identify the podcast from this.)
Hopefully, that helps. Sorry if you were already familiar with the process.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

  • Cannot find my podcast in iTunes Store after approval

Hi, It's been 7 days since my podcast gets approved by Apple. I do see the podcast by clicking this link http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=277712017 but not if I do a search in iTunes Store (for example - look up "huddle" as the keyword).
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
"Patience" seems to be the operative word at the iTunes store, especially for indexing new podcast. I suggest you contact the iTunes store for follow-up.
Be very specific in your e-mail about why you're contacting them. Otherwise, you'll be directed to a series of Apple info documents. In the event that's what happens, be persistent via 2nd, 3rd etc. e-mails until you get a satisfactory answer.

  • I tunes constantly crashing if i try to delete or subscribe to anything in itunes store. any ideas

Have been having the same problem for months now. Allows me to play but not to delete or subscribe. can anybody help?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
