Subscribe to RSS Feed - Bing Wallpaper

Hi -
I just downloaded iPhoto from the app store for Mac OS X Lion and I would like to subscribe to the bing rss wallpaper feed.  I found the link http://themeserver.microsoft.com/default.aspx?p=Bing&c=Desktop&m=en-US and when I put that into the subscribe to RSS feed option in iPhoto it sets it up, but it will only download the first 5 images in the feed.  It shows spots for another 143 images, but they are just boxes.  I'm trying to set that up so I can rotate through the images as desktop wallpaper.  Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
PS - Are there any other feeds similar to what Bing offers that work well with iPhoto?

I couldn't get any photos to load in iPhoto, but it did show that there were 50+ items.  I think it has to do with the way the RSS feed puts the images in enclosures.  If you view such a feed in Google Reader, it wont show the pictures either, only links to the images.
So I solved my problem, which was using the images from the themeserver feed as my wallpaper, but I also use Parallels and subscribe to the feed on my Windows 7 Theme.
The Windows 7 theme stores the images in a Temporary Internet Files folder, mine was at c:\users\(username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Enclosure\
On the Mac side I opened my Parallels PVM package and drilled down to that location, then created an alias to that folder and put it under my Mac Pictures folder for easy finding.
Then in Sys Prefs I set this alias folder as my folder for Wallpaper images and set auto rotation.
It works ok since I run parallels, but relies on me running the VM to refresh the images.
If someone else finds a way to get the images to show in iPhoto I'd be interested. Or find a way to cache feed images (in the feed format Themserver uses) to a local folder would work too.

  • N900 won´t subscribe to rss feeds

    hi guys,
the rss feed reader refuses to download any rss feeds. neither the two pre-installed ones, nor any other. once, i managed to download an opml file on my phone and using that i was able to physically add a new rss feed which however contained no posts and failed to update. all the other times pressing "subscribe to rss feed" in the browser opens the reader and after approving by pressing the "done"  button it tries to connect to the feed for 1-2 min without success.
    any suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

actually most of the feeds don´t show up in the list. when i add one in the browser im asked in which folder it should go and need to confirm by pressing "done". after doing so the phone tries to connect to the feed but always without success. after 1 or 2 min it returns to the previous screen (choose folder and confirm by "done" button). that is, the feed is never added to the list in the first place.
when i store the opml file on the phone and open it via rss-browse i can add a feed from the file to the list but it is marked with "!" indicating the connection error although the url is correct.

  • How do I subscribe to RSS feeds and manage RSS feeds?

I can't figure out how to subscribe to RSS feeds and manage RSS feeds?

    Hi TedEvansJr,
Subscribing to a feed is pretty easy in Firefox. Just take a look at [http://kb.mozillazine.org/RSS:_Live_Bookmarks_overview_%28Firefox%29 this article] and you should be ready to go.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Can't' subscribe to RSS feed in my wiki?!?!

I am not really sure what is going on. I have a few wiki's set up and there is on (users must log in to read) that won't allow users to subscribe to the rss feed. When you click on the subscribe icon, it just freezes. I even tried manually subscribing by typing the feed address into Apple Mail, but it still didn't work. It did prompt me for the username and password, but it gets an error and there is no feed. What am I missing?

I have the same problem. My Wiki runs as a SSL secured site. The docs state:
"If you enable SSL, you must create a duplicate non-SSL site that redirects requests for podcasts or RSS feeds to the SSL site."
    However I do this.
And, I don't understand why it's not possible to subscribe to a https:// secured RSS feed.

  • Subscribing to RSS feeds?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with Safari RSS you can SUBSCRIBE to different website RSS feeds, so when they add something new to their rss feed I should automatically get some sort of message saying that their is something new in my Safari RSS or something like that right? I'm having trouble subscribing. for instance I want to subscribe to www.emericaskate.com/news . When i go to that site I click on the RSS Icon located in the box where I type in the website, but it seems like it only reads the RSS Feed and doesnt give me a subscription to it. Any help? I am probably just overlooking something very basic and just need a helping hand.

Ryan, Welcome to the discussion area!
Probably should ask Safari questions in the Safari discussion area.
In that area, I found the Mac 101: Safari which has a section discussing RSS feeds.

  • I am not able to subscribe to RSS feeds or bookmark pages

I was having trouble with my version 3 of Firefox originally. I couldn't open it because it was saying it was still running. I found the correction to that problem (something about deleting a "parent" file) only after I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. When I uninstalled Firefox I sadly lost all of my RSS feeds and bookmarks. When I reinstalled it I was updated to Firefox 4. Since that time I have not been able to subscribe to any RSS Feeds or bookmark any pages. I am completely and utterly frustrated. Please help!

I hope it works out for you.  A couple of comments.
Apple does not have a way to restrict searches on safari.  It just is not there.  But if you search the app store for parental control, you will find at least 1 browser that does.  You can use that as your normal browser, and bury safari in a folder somewhere where the kiddies wont easily find it.  Read the reviews, and see if it does what you want.
As respects purchases, remember that when you make a purchase, your password remains active for 15 min.  I have been reading the posts here for over a year, and there is a  continued stream of folks who download an innocent free app, hand the pad to the kids, and find the invoice the next day for $200 worth of smuf berries or some such nonsense.  Keep eyes open.

  • Subscribe or RSS Feed From Thread: What's the Differen

What's the difference between subscribing to a thread and getting an RSS feed on it's?? I'm assuming subscribing to the thread is what happens when one selects "E-mail me if someone replies to this thread."? Is that right? On Internet Explorer v7, when I click?"Favorites" I get a list of RSS feeds but I don't know what they do or what to do with them.

Subscribing is done on the forum, and you can be notified by e-mail when there is a response to a thread. It will also show you your subscriptions on the front page of the forum, when you're logged in.
For more information on RSS feeds, check it's Wikipedia article. You'll need a feed reader if you want to use the RSS feeds.

  • Subscribe users to RSS feed in sharepoint 2010

I want to subscribe the user group to the RSS feed for a discussion board in Sharepoint 2010 and make it an opt out feature not an opt in feature. Is this something i can do? And how.

    Hi,
If a user wants to subscribe to a RSS feed of SharePoint list/library, he/she needs to access the list/library and then click RSS feed button in the ribbon to view the RSS feed in IE. After that clicking subscribe the RSS feed link to add the feeds to Outlook.
As it is needed to trigger the feed protocol to add the feed to Outlook from SharePoint, then every user needs to click the subscribe the RSS feed link.
So there is no OOB way to subscribe the user group to RSS feed in SharePoint.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • RSS feed subscription in a semi-automatic way (SharePoint online)

I have a site with a lot of subsites. I want to user to be able to subscribe to RSS feed in a more automatic way.
If possible I would add a button or link to a subsite. When the user clicks this he/she is subscribed to (my pre-defined) set of RSS feeds, at once (that will be about 50 lists and document libraries).
    Is this possible?
    Thanks, Mike

  • RSS feeds between Apple Mail and Gmail

I was wondering if this is possible or if this even exists.
I am subscribed to RSS feeds in Apple Mail which I love reading on my iMac. But when I'm at the office on a Windows machine I can only read my RSS feeds through Gmail. It's hard to keep track of what I haven't read and have read.
Is there a way to sync which RSS reeds which are read/unread with Apple Mail and Gmail?

Thanks, Andy. I should have posted a closure statement on this thread as I finally figured everything out. The most frustrating thing is Google's own advice at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78892# couldn't further from correct. After many hours of experimenting with settings, I finally came up with the correct ones. In fact, I'm in the process of writing an article about it since there is simply no definitive guidance on the web that I've been able to find in the time I've searched.
Your comments are on target...everything on the *Behaviors Tab* needs to be checked (excepts Notes) and the *Delete when* settings must be set to Never. But there are a few other things that must be done, including some changes on Gmail Settings before Mail and Gmail will be perfectly synchronous. I'll post the entire solution on this forum when I finish the graphics.

  • RSS Feeds on 8330 Curve

    Hello,
Wondering how to subscribe to RSS Feeds using the Blackberry Browser. I have an 8330 Curve - 4.5.0.138 OS
Found documentation that states the following:
    Subscribe to a web feed
On a web page, press the Menu key.
    Click Add Web Feed.
Select the check box beside a web feed.
In the Auto Synchronize field, set how often the browser should check for updates to the web feed.
In the Start time field, set the time of day when the browser should start checking for updates.
    Click Add
However, I don't seem to have this option "Add Web Feed" in my meu.
I have navigated to several web feed pages and clicked the menu key. I have the "add bookmark" option where I can select auto synchronize but nothing that says "Add Web Feed"
Any thoughts or solutions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Issue resolved. I changed the browser from "Blackberry Brower" to "Internet Browser" and the Add Web Feed option appears in the menu.

  • I am looking to read full length rss feeds to be read off-line on my ipad 2

I can subscribe to rss feeds in my mail on my mac, but I cannot seem to do the same on my Ipad 2 either via mobile me (I cannot forward rss feeds into my mobile me account) or various apps (byline, feedlerss, flipboard, google reader). Some send the feed, but I then have to be on line to see the full article. This contrasts with reading an rss feed on my mac via mail where i can see the entire feed and therefore can read it off-line.
    Any thoughts anyone?

Maybe there is something wrong with your settings, because you can alter the default behavior... Have a look in the Byline settings, especially in the "Web pages" category. There you can choose for which feeds you want to cache the original web paged as well, when the feed content seems truncated.

  • RSS feed generation with CRM data

    Hi folks,
I got a question from my customer if RSS feed generation is possible with CRM data.
He thinks about a scenario where for example an Intranet user can subscribe a RSS feed that provides information if certain CRM data changed, eg. a new BusinessPartner was created or a certain relationship to a BusiessPartner changed.
Do you know if SAP (CRM) provides such RSS functionality (out-of-the-box)?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards,
    Bjoern

In CRM 7, every user can customize his own RSS feed.
You can find the settings in the WEBUI under personalize -> Feed
You can also find some additional customizing in the SPRO under
    ->Customer Relationship Management
    ->UI Framework
    ->UI Framework Definition
    ->Feeds
    kind regards,

  • Why SP2013 generate RSS feed subscription link with feeds:// not feed://

We are using SP2013 enterprise on-premise. Our users are using IE9. On any list or document library, click on top ribbon "List" -> RSS feed, it will goto a page with URL like
    /_layouts/15/listfeed.aspx?List=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
On the page there is a link "Subscribe this RSS feed". The link is redirecting to feeds://xxxxxxx. On my IE9 it throw a "web page cannot display" error. After some finding I think the protocol should be feed:// not feeds://. Is it a bug
for SP2013 or MS do it by purpose?

    Hi Mark,
Did you configure SSL for SharePoint web application(using https URL)?
It seems that the feed protocol will change to feeds when you enable SSL for SharePoint web application.
Please make sure that the Outlook 2013(office 2013) is installed in your environment.
If not, install it and then compare the results.
    Thanks,
    Victoria
