Subscribed Calendars at Work - Duplicate events displayed

At work, we have a WebDav setup with our public calendars and if there are any events to which multiple people are invited/attending... every single one shows up individually.. even though they are the exact same event.
Is there any way to merge them? Is there any way, perhaps through AppleScript, to perform an alteration on the presentation layer without messing with the read-only data layer?
Would a CalDav for our events help this out? If so... what would be the best option with Linux/Windows as the servers (we don't have any Xserves...)

Can't you just select each one of them in turn, and do CMD + R to update it, until you find the one that makes iCal crash? Maybe you don't need to unsubscribe/resubscribe to reproduce the crash.

How do I sync my iPhone calendar without getting duplicate events posted?

This is ridiculous!  I bought an Ipad 2 to help keep up with my appointments etc and now it wont sync my Yahoo calendar appointments that i made from my iphone.  I have tried all the suggestions I can find and nothing is working.  I don't have time to go back and add it all by hand a second time.  Please fix!!!

  • ICloud Calendar - 3 calendars, how order on event display?

(Windows Vista, no Outlook; iphone 4, ipad)
I'm using 3 separate calendars on my iCloud calendar. Viewing my calendar via iCloud.com, the 3 calendars are displayed on the left in the order I would like to see them on the actual calendar display. I know how to order them on the left, but that order does not reflect for the actual events shown. What I'm trying to do is have the most important (my primary calendar events) appear first on my calendar) and others at the bottom. For instance, I might want to use that one to show a period of time, that someone is out of town and do not want that at the top of my to-do events.
I've tried dragging, both on the monthly calendar and on specific days and that doesn't work. Anybody know how to do this?

but I've restarted my iPhone just the other day (for a different reason) and it didn't affect the iCloud calendar... don't know why it did today,
Because "resetting" like I suggested is not the same as "restarting".
You wouldn't know how to get iCal to update on a iMac that doesn't have Lion installed, would you?
Unfortunately, you need a Mac running Lion v10.7.2
    You're welcome

  • Subscribed Calendar shows only "New Event"s

    Hi there:
I've searched and seen a few similar issues, but no resolution.
I have published a Calendar, and sent an email invitation for subscription to it. The URL is similar to:
    webcal://ical.me.com/XXXXX/myCalendar.ics
Subscribing to the Calendar isn't an issue, from other user's computer. The Calendar shows up fine, but all of its events have no content other than "New Event".
    Ideas?
Thanks in advance for any insight,
    Patrick
ps: all events in question are "All Day" events, FWIW.

Hi Patrick - did you ever resolve this issue? I'm encountering the same thing.

  • Subscribed Google Calendar not working

I have set up my google calendar via CalDav and that's working great. But I also need to subscribe to my boyfriends google calendar, just to view what is there. So I have updated to 3.0 and I go into Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account -> Other -> Add Subscribed Calender
I put in the address that google gives me to the .ics file for his private calendar. The it says "subscribed calendar account verification failed".
Anyone else have this problem? And have you been able to fix it?

I have not been able to get the google subscribed calendars to work either. I was able to connect my main google calendar via CalDAV, but you can't add additional CalDAV accounts. Subcriptions are not working at all. I get this error message every time: "subscribed calendar account verification failed"
The method you describe here may work, but you won't actually get any updates because you have basically subscribed to a copy of the calendar, not the actual calendar that the original creator presumably keeps upto date.

  • Syncing subscribed calendars

I subscribe to our family calendar from my wife's Mac and I maintain a personal calendar on my Mac. My personal calendar syncs to my iPhone without a problem, but I can't get the subscribed calendar from my wife's computer to sync to the my iPhone. Can this be done?

Yes, it's possible, but it might not be what you're wanting. The problem is that push sync doesn't work (yet?) with subscribed calendars. See the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1213
The way I've been able to work around this is to disable push, or "over-the-air" sync, and then only sync calendars when syncing over the USB cable. To do this, on your iPhone to go Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> then for each of your accounts (or in my case, just for .Mac), set 'Calendars' to Off.
Then in iTunes, with your iPhone connected, sync your iPhone once, then go to the Info tab for your iPhone, and make sure the settings for "Sync iCal Calendars" is enabled for the right calendars.
I've been checking back on that knowledge base article about once a month, and have yet to see any sign that Apple has fixed this problem. A search through the discussions shows that lots of folks are wanting push sync for subscribed calendars to work, so we are not alone!
    I hope this helps.

  • Subscribing to multiple ICS web calendars results in duplicate calendar msg

I'm trying to subscribe to multiple ICS/iCal calendars that are published by a local hockey league on their web site. The link is actually to a PHP script that uses a query string parameter to determine which team's calendar you want. But when I attempt to subscribe to more than one of these in iCal, it says it thinks it's the same calendar! But when I do them each separately, they work fine. I can't figure out why and would appreciate tips, advice, etc from others who may have encountered similar situations.
The specific URLs I am using are:
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=664&format=iCal
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=316&format=iCal
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=31&format=iCal
For now, I'm having to save these to .ics files and import them manually into iCal. This ***** because they won't auto-refresh... but I need to find a solution to this bogus "duplicate calendar" message...
    Any help is appreciated.

    cj,
If a subscribed holiday calendar is current and events are displayed far enough into the future you can use iCal>File>Export for one of the subscriptions. Then use iCal>File>Import on the previously exported file. When you import, be sure to create an unique name for the calendar. Now you can delete the subscription, and you can edit/delete the calendar, and rename the freshly imported calendar.

  • How to remove duplicate events in my ical icloud calendars?

    OS X 10.9.1
I have too much duplicate events in my icloud calendars.
How can I remove them automatically?
Is there any App available that works?
    Thanks

    Thats a good tip Reggie.
For anyone else reading this post, keep in mind that if you see "duplicates" with the MobileMe calendar it may mean you are seeing two separate copies of the same calendar.  Before spending time deleting individual events read this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3505

  • Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly.  Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync.  Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.

Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly.  Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync.  Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.
    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • My subscribed calendar does not display in today view in iOS7. Does anyone know how to make it show up?

I have a subscribed calendar on my iPhone. The today view in notification center shows that I have an event at xxxx and tomorrow view says I have x events but the calendar day view does not display any of the events. I need this so I can easily see which rooms my events are in. Dows anyone know how to make the subscribed calendar show up in calendar day view?

Interesting. May have uncovered a bug. It seems that limited duration events will display, but all day events wont on mine. (iPhone 5). Does that compare to what you are seeing (unfortunately, I have nothing in a subscribed calendar until the week end, so difficult to check. I do seem to recall seeing an event from one this past week end on the iPad, however).

  • Can't see event titles in subscribed calendar

My wife publishes an iCal calendar from iCal at home, and I subscribe to it in iCal my laptop. I've done this for years, thus improving marital harmony, but a couple of months ago I stopped being able to see the titles of the events. My laptop calendar still gets updated event entries on specific days and times, but nothing has a title.
At home, I tried copying and renaming the calendar, then subscribing to the new one, and it didn't work.
I'm running iCal 2.0.5 on my 10.4.11 laptop, and we've got an older system at home.
Any thoughts on how to fix? Thanks.

I suspect you might be right (although I would have expected that the lack of the option would have meant publication of more of the data rather than less). I'm afraid I don't have systems with either of those versions to be able to delve any deeper.
What you don't mention, and might be worth a shot is:
stop publishing the source, delete the subscription and start over.

  • Single-day glitch generates many duplicate events in Calendar on iPhone 4

The Calendar app on my iPhone 4 was working just fine … until the latest sync.
Then October 21 — just October 21, as far as I can tell — turned up with many, many duplicate events. These were all blank "New Events" with the time starting at 12AM on October 21, 2014, and running through 7PM on December 31, 2000 (yes, 2000). The ending date and time has a strike-through line.
October 21 in iCal on my MacBook looks just fine. So I re-synced, but the iPhone problem persists.
I figured that since the problem was just on this one day, I'd try to manually delete these useless events. But when I did that, they started multiplying!
Has anybody else run into this?
    Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

The reboot cure-all has cured all. :-)

  • Copy an event from a subscribed calendar.

I have a number of subscribed calendars (sporting events, holidays, etc.). I usually leave these disabled, as they clutter up my default view which is set to "Month".
What I would like to do is copy and paste individual events to my own calendar that I might be attending. Or, drag this event information to mail or other document.
Unfortunately, this option is not allowed for subscribed calendars. Possibly I am missing something?

    Apple Iceman,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Works for me with the subscriptions that I use.
Unfortunately, this option is not allowed for subscribed calendars.
Could your elaborate how you came to that conclusion? I used keyboard shortcuts, and menu commands to effect a copy/paste.
Or, drag this event information to mail or other document.
I have determined that dragging will not work.

  • X-APPLE-DEFAULT-ALARM to remove default alarm from iOS 6 subscribed calendar events?

After upgrading to iOS 6, all events in subscribed calendars get a default alarm. Is there a directive inside the .ics stream that can stop this from happening?
Searching the web I found an “X-APPLE-DEFAULT-ALARM:TRUE” directive but it doesn’t seem to work and I can’t find any Apple documentation on it. Can you direct me to the full list/documentation of iOS 6 supported “X-APPLE“ extensions to iCalendar?
    Thanks!

OK, so I have had this issue for the past several months. I think it all started when I upgraded to ML from SL and migrated my calendars and contacts to iCloud. That was a couple months ago. But now I am running 10.8.2, and about two weeks ago I upgraded my iOS devices to 6.0.1.
I don't seem to be having any issues with events that I create now, but all those old events that were migrated to iCloud a couple months ago, many of those sound alerts on the iOS devices even though there was no alert defined when the event was originally created. I have always had alerts off by default both in iCal and on the iOS devices.
So here's the question: is there a way to go through and disable all these spurious event alerts? I've been disabling them as the event reminders come up, but it's irritating. It would be nice if there was a way to turn them off all in one shot somehow.

  • Put new events created on iPhone into subscribed calendar?

Is it possible to put new events created on my iPhone calendar into a subscribed calender on my MacBook's iCal? It doesn't seem so. The "Calendars" section of the info tab in iTunes sync lets me use any local calendar that I have created in iCal ("work" "home:", etc.) to put new events into from my iPhone. And they do indeed show up after synching. But what I would really like to do is put them directly into a calDAv calender I subscribe to on the MacBook and that doesn't appear to be an option.
To be sure, events from the calDav calender show up nicely on the phone when I synch. But phone to calDAv on the MacBook would be handy because MacBook syncs directly with the calDAv server.
Thanks for any help with this.

I just realized that I have terminologically muddied the waters with how I posed my question. Permit me to put it better: can I put new events created on my iPhone onto a calDAV calender on my MacBook?
The way I orignally posed it in terms of a subscribed calendar was wrong, inasmuch as you don't subscribe to a calDav calendar; you sync it.
My apologies for the inexactitude. I hope someone can help me.
