Subscribed Calendars, iCal, and Mobileme

In iCal I have subscribed to 3 calendars, including US holidays. I have setup iCal for the Cavdav format for the new Mobileme calendar. The subscribed calendars do not show up on my iPad. Can this be fixed/changed?
Thanks

Do an iCal backup first if you use it on a mac too.
When I upgraded to Caldav last week I ended up with .mac account calendar AND a mobileme one too so I had duplicatec entries.
I would delete mobileme or .mac account on your iPad and then sign up again. It should then pick up the caldav data from the mobileme servers if you sign in at setup using cavdav info you should have been emailed.

  • Fresh Install for Mail, iCal and MobileMe

After several rounds with MobileMe support with what I thought were iCal syncing issues, I think I want to do a fresh install for all things Mail, iCal, and MobileMe (sync services).
Syncing stopped working on iPhone and turns out I may have had a corrupt Calendar file, which may have been caused by my tinkering with Mail when I had some issues...etc etc. Anyway, suggestions for what to do to start all over?

Read the Apple document Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: Resetting the SyncServices folder and see if that helps.
Plus to reset any program in OS X just go to the folder /Users/YourUserAccount/Library/Preferences/ and find the preferences for the program you want to reset to default and throw that preferences file away. This will reset a program in OS X on your account back to default (in most cases).

  • ICloud iCal and MobileMe.

    hi
i had an apple id much before i got myslef a mobileme account.
well mobileme synched up everything and all was dandy.
    then came icloud.
so i wanted to keep my apple id and thus i did exactly that - i created a new me.com email address as i could not use my mobileme account to link to the apple id.
now the issue i got it. with ical  the calender still is synching with old mobileme account. and on my iphone and ipad i have removed refrences to mobileme account as i have used a mail forward to the new me.com account.
i just realised that the calender entries are not showng up pn my iphone or ipad. tried tinkering with ical on the mac.
backedup the data. removed the old mobileme account and restored the data.
but the data comes back with the same refrence point of mobileme still being there.
    its driving me nuts.
any advise on how i can simply move my calender entries from mobileme account to icloud account.
    it would be fantastic.
    many thanks

Edit : another user has exactly the same issue, i suppose the issue faced by us is better explained here

  • Syncing calendars - iCal and Entourage

Has anyone experienced this problem? After updating to Leopard, I can't seem to get calendar items created on my iPhone to appear in Entourage. Items do sync to iCal on my computer, but they don't transfer over to Entourage. Items created in Entourage, however, do end up on my iPhone. Tearing my hair out because it means I have to enter all my calendar items on my computer. Any suggestions?

I can see we have had no response, this would be a great idea. Some how over the years I have accumulated many Calendars. Would almost be happy if when an event has passed it could move to the historic events calander. We keep our shops deliveries on Calendar, this help as we can use the information to find the address record any difficulties and have a invoice number recordrd or serials for future waranty issues is the customer fails to record this. We can email, copy and paste etc. etc. Someone should look at this part of the iCal experience.

  • ICal Crashes after adding Subscribed Calendar (google)

As soon as I add a subscribed Google calendar, iCal becomes problematic. Doesn't matter if I add it manually or by using a link. As soon as I turn off the subscribed calendar, iCal starts working flawlessly. Any ideas on how to fix?
    Closed/Launched iCal
Removed/Added subscribed calendar (both manually and via link)
    Rebooted several times
Happens whether on 4G or WiFi
Happens with all options in iCloud enabled/disabled
    Grrrrrrrr!!!!!
    iPad 3 64GB, iOS 5.1.1, Verizon 4G

I looked on Google support as suggested by Eric, but this pointed me back to the Apple support forums where I came across this thread which I hadn't seen before.
Like other thread on the subject it had a lot of suggestions that didn't look helpful. However after reading through the various posts I tried the following.
    1. I went off-line from the intranet, and that meant that I could actually open iCal to update my password within iCal. However when you go back online you still get errors and therefore have to go through steps 2 & 3 for a complete solution.
    2. I then made sure all my Google related passwords within Keychain were correct using Keychain Access
    3. I then ran Keychain First Aid from within Keychain Access
Once I had done all those things I was able to get back into iCal without any errors.

  • How do I publish an iCal calendar now that MobileMe is inactive?

I was publishing a calendar to share with some friends using iCal and MobileMe. Now that MM is not available, updating that calendar is no longer possible. So I tried to unpublish it, but was not allowed, only could leave it on the server. Now I can't publish again because the only option is on MobileMe in iCal (Version 5.0.3 (1605.3)). And there doesn't seem to ba an update yet. Am I missing something?
I got the following when I tried to re-publish my calendar on MobileMe:
The calendar “Name” couldn’t be published.
    The request for calendar failed.
    The server responded with “503”

I have a similar problem, albeit for different reasons.  My calendar at work is on MS Exchange, which only supports "On My Mac" calendars, not "iCloud" calendars.  I was able to publish my work calendar for use on my devices outside the office using iCal calendar publishing through MobileMe.  (As an alternative to jumping through several layers of security when I'm not in the office just to see my own calendar!)  But that no longer works, MS doesn't support synching to iCloud calendars so I'm not sure how to do this now that Apple has killed iDisk/MobileMe.
I think there would be an opportunity for someone to either write an Exchange to calDAVE widgit or to to offer a hosting service for former MobileMe calendars...

  • HOW TO SYNC IPHONE TO A "SUBSCRIBED CALENDAR"

I have successfully linked my GMAIL calendar to my iCAL calendar on Mobileme. I find this very useful and gives me the most flexibility. I can add events and merge other calendars (holidays etc) using Gmail but am still able to use the iCal on the iPhone which has the best interface.
HOWEVER, the linked calendar appears as a "subscribed calendar" on my mobileme page. When i SYNC this to my iPhone this subscribed calendar does NOT appear.
Is there any resolution in the works for this problem?????
The only reference i can find on apple support leaves the problem UNRESOLVED. See below.
    THanks so much
Mac OS X 10.5: Subscribed calendars are listed in their own section of the iCal calendar list. When syncing subscribed calendars to MobileMe, the calendar information and settings for the calendar is synced, but all of the downloaded events are not. This is done to help streamline the syncing process with MobileMe, as it prevents syncing redundant information to other computers with an Internet connection.

The problem has still not been resolved. You cannot sync subscription calendars to the iPhone or iPod Touch at this time.

  • A way to sync Subscribed Calendars

I created an Automator Workflow that daily copies my subscribed calendars (company calendar) to local calendars. When I saved the workflow, I saved it as an iCal plugin with an alarm that goes off every day at 12:30 AM.
To create the Workflow, download the Yellow Camp actions installer at…
    http://automatorworld.com/archives/yellow-camp-ical-actions/
Once the actions are installed into the Automator library you can create the workflow.
    I have used the following:
Find Events in iCal (a subscribed calender)
Move iCal Events (into a local calendar that you name)
You can repeat the above steps for a many subscribed calendars that you want to sync.
Now my subscribed calendars appear at MobileMe and my iPhone.

this is great and what i've been looking for but....
how do you keep it from duplicating events?
I just ran it after i had copied an event to my local calendar and when it ran it duplicated the event. So i had an event from my subscribed calendar on my local calendar twice.

  • ICal and iCloud

Okay, this whole iCloud thing is a bit above my head right now.  I seem to be making it work, but am a bit confused, and want to make sure I am doing things correctly.  Where there is an actual question, I will place in the quote box... but, there may be implied questions elsewhere, or if you find I have made a bad assumption, please make me aware!
First of all, I have an iPhone 4 (IOS 5) and a MacBook.  My husband has an iPhone 4 (IOS 4-he resists change and has not updated his IOS).  I neglected to tell you what system my MacBook is on because I want to show you the order in which I did everything.
So, for sake of argument, let's say up through October, I entered events into my iPhone 4 (IOS 4) and/or on my MacBook (Snow Leopard), and then synced through iTunes (hard wire connection to MacBook), sharing calendars between my husband's iPhone and I by syncing back and forth.
Then, I alone (my husband has not updated his iPhone) updated to IOS 5 on my iPhone.  It seemed to automatically export my calendars (All on my Mac) as they were to iCloud calendars.  So, I abandoned adding events to the "All on My Mac" calendars and only entered into my iCloud calendars.  However, it wasn't until recently I noticed I had to create a CALDAV link to iCloud to see those new/edited events on my Mac under Snow Leopard.  My husband, in the meantime has been using his calendars that aren't iCloud affiliated since he is still on IOS 4
I am wondering what will happen with those "On my Mac" calendars he has on his iPhone if I already had those calendars on my iPhone when I switched to iCloud?- we use the same apple ID.
It has been a while since I synced his iPhone.
So, then, I had a duplicate sets of calendars in my iCal (iCloud and the Mac-driven calendars).
But, then a week ago, I downloaded Lion onto my MacBook.  It seems to still be connected via that CALDAV link I did.  Not sure if that is still the most efficient way-this was a workaround for Snow Leopard,
but how is Lion supposed to be set up for iCloud calendars?
(I also am unsure all the time why my computer is asking to use a password using my email account in my keychain- wording is wrong, but I am sure others have gotten this same request.  I have denied, I have accepted, but never said always allow because I am not sure what it is trying to do.)
    So, my question,
can I delete my old "On my Mac" calendars since I have abandoned them?  What will happen when I connect my husband's iPhone if those calendars are missing?  Could I just sync the new iCloud calendars as described above instead onto his iPhone?  And, will it from then on out allow him to use iCloud, or does he need to be on IOS 5?
BTW, I don't know if it matters, but I have never had a .me account.  I read somewhere you can get a .me email account by having Lion.  I think I read that I need to set that up in iCloud on my MacBook, but have not done that.  My current apple id is an independant email account that I've had for years.  Not sure what will happen if I ever have to get rid of that email address.
I am sure I can change my contact email address in my apple profile, but would that change my apple id to the new email address I give (whether it be a .me email or a different, let's say, gmail account)?
My iPhone seems to be syncing okay.  But, would like to clean up my iCal and I want to make sure I do things properly when it comes to syncing with my husband's iPhone if he stays at IOS4 (and how I sync him up- can it be automatic or do I have to continue the hard wire approach?) and what I should do differently in setting up his iPhone if he switches to IOS5 (and what steps I should do as I update him to IOS5 so calendars aren't lost or duplicated- as he has added entries to his calendar for example -"Husband's calendar"- and I have an iCloud calendar named that, but he has added more to the "on my mac" version on his iPhone and I have added some to the iCloud version.)

u mean mobileme yes? first thing to do is to go to mobileme ON THE WEB and see if the events are there. then check to make sure you are using the right calendar in iCal and mobileme is set to sync ur calendar in the first place.
    In iCal:
    In system preferences:
then if that all looks good and still no dice, there is a procedure in the mobileme forum for resyncing all your mobileme stuff.

  • Can't group personal & subscribed calendars?

In Mac OS 10.4, I created a calendar group which contained (1) a calendar created and managed by me for work-related events, and (2) a subscribed calendar created and managed by a colleague. I then published the combined group calendar online for my personal use.
Under Mac OS 10.5, I can no longer group a personal calendar and a subscribed calendar. This means I'll have to recreate every single event in the subscribed calendar if I want it to show up in my personal "work" calendar.
Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

I have the exact same problem.
This is a REAL problem and a major deception with iCal / Leopard.
This way of splitting "personal" and "subscribed" calendars is not smart. Why ?
We should keep the ability to group subscribed AND personal calendars into a same group of calendars. Maybe via the ical prefs ?
I hope somebody at Apple will take care of this.

  • How to sync Contacts from iPhone to iCal or MobileMe?

I have ONE copy of Contacts that is correct: on my iPhone.
I really need to push the contacts from my iPhone to my empty MobileMe AddressBook or to my empty iCal AddressBook.  I've spent an hour researching this on the Web. Does anyone know how to push the Contacts in this direction?
I had thought that iTunes Sync of Contacts was always two-way (KB article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386 says it is!); but apparently, with the iPhone, it is only one way (if a Mac Address Book or the MobileMe AddressBook is empty, the sync will wipe the contacts off the iphone).
    Desperately need help.  Thanks!

OK, I finally got it fixed.  And I figured out my missteps, too.  Here you go (I tested it three times, and part of the testing procedure included deleting ALL data in MobileMe AND the AddressBook on my Mac):
Procedure for Pushing Good Set of Contacts on iPhone to all other platforms
Problem: Your iPhone has your only good set of contacts.  Your iCal and MobileMe (cloud) contacts are not there or corrupted.
Complication: If you try to delete your corrupted MobileMe Contacts on the cloud in preparation for pushing the valid set of contacts from the iPhone up to the MobileMe cloud, the system tends to do a one-way sync and immediately delete all your iPhone contacts (the good set!).
    Solution and procedure:
For starters, forget about iTunes.  We are not going to use it at all for this procedure.
Back up Address Book on the Mac.  OK, so this copy might be corrupted or incomplete; do it anyway: File, Export, Address Book Archive.  It keeps your groups and their member sets, too.
Go into MobileMe Settings on your Mac, then to the Sync tab.  Make sure sync is set to Manual.  You can leave Sync turned on; it won't sync until you tell it to, because you just set it to Manual.
OK, we're assuming your iPhone has the best, correct set of AddressBook Contacts, Groups, and Group member lists.
So now put your iPhone in Airplane mode.  MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU DO THIS!!!
On the iPhone, go to Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, MobileMe, and turn OFF Contacts in Settings on iPhone.  The iPhone should immediately give you a prompt.  Make sure you press "Keep contacts on iPhone," NOT "Delete."  (And if you don't get that message, something is wrong.)
Check to make sure Contacts and Groups are still there on iPhone.  They should be.  Double check to make sure your iPhone is in Airplane Mode.
Now open AddressBook on Mac and delete all Contacts AND all Groups.  (You can always recover these from the earlier backup you made.)
Then delete ALL contacts in MobileMe on the Web.
MAKE SURE MAC ADDRESS BOOK AND MOBILEME ADDRESS BOOK ARE EMPTY.
    Log off MobileMe.
Check to see that Contacts are still on the iPhone, and that there is only ONE set of groups.  And you should still be in Airplane Mode!
On iPhone, turn back ON Contacts.  You may get the message "The contacts you previously synced with your Mac will be merged with Mobile Me."  (This message is a bit confusing, but don't worry about that.)  (If you don't get that message, something is wrong.)  Click on "Merge" to turn back ON Contacts on iPhone.
Take iPhone out of Airplane Mode.
Go to iPhone desktop, double press the black menu button, and close all Apps.
Now reboot iPhone immediately.  (Very important!  Procedure doesn't always work unless you do this.)
Once rebooted, check to see that Contacts are still there on the iPhone, and that there is only ONE set of groups.  If AddressBook starts syncing while you're doing this, let it finish before you do anything else.
Now open MobileMe.  Go to Contacts.  The procedure should have synced the Contacts properly.  If you see zero Contracts in the All Contacts group, go to a subgroup, and then back; or go to a different part of MobileMe (Calendar, etc.), and then come back to AddressBook.  All your contacts should then appear in the full Address Book.
    Log off MobileMe.
Open Address Book on Mac.  It should still be empty.  Close it.
Open MobileMe settings on Mac.  Go to Sync tab.  Click on Advanced button on bottom right.  Select the current computer you're on and make SURE it stays selected.
    Now click "Reset Sync data."
Change graphic of platform sync to "Cloud---->Computer."
    Set "Replace" to Contacts.
    Hit Replace.
This should immediately populate your AddressBook on your Mac with the correct info from the MobileMe cloud.  Open AddressBook and make sure it did, and that the groups are there and populated.
Now, if all three platforms have correct info, you can go to MobileMe settings on Mac, Sync tab, and change it to "Synchronize with MobileMe automatically" to keep MobileMe and iCal on your Mac in sync.  (MobileMe and your iPhone are already set up to sync automatically per earlier steps in this procedure.)
Now that you have a good copy of your Contacts and Groups in AddressBook on your Mac, backup it up.

  • I'm new to iCal and I have question

    Hi,
How do you subscribed to a sports schedule? I'm sure it's simple to add, but I can't figure it out
    Thanks!

    James,
You are correct, it is simple to add a subscribed calendar.
iCal Menu>Calendar>Find Shared Calendars (Choose more...) for an expanded selection. If the team/sport that you want is not there you can go to iCalShare for a plethora of choices.
After you find the one that you want, just click on it and iCal will offer you a Subscribe to: window.

  • Sync iCal and entourage

Entourage and iCal have stopped syncing. Old entries are Ok but any new Entourage entries are not showing up on iCal and mobileme.
Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
    Thanks
    Phillip

Okay, I've finally gotten my sync to happen, and my calendar info is current. But I needed to enable the "MobleMe" trial to make things happen.
I was finding that the sync between Entourage and iCal wasn't happening any more (and right now, it's a guess that the sync broke after the Snow Leopard update).
When I went into iCal and looked at its prefs, the checkbox in the 'General' tab had a grayed-out option that read "Synchronize iCal with other computers and devices using MobileMe."
In previous versions, this was a selectable option, but it's not selectable now.
I had to enable MobileMe (taking advantage of the 60-day trial), and set up an account. After doing so, the afore-metioned option became selectable, so I clicked the checkbox.
After performing a sync, I found that my calendar items were now available on my iPhone.
I hope that this is just a bug, and not an oversight on Apple's part. There are lots of people like me who don't want or need MobileMe.
    Hope this helps!
    Tom

  • How to sync Google Calendar 's subscribed calendars to iPhone?

I've subscribed to several country calendars in Google Calendar. I also managed to see these subscribed calendars in iCal, by setting my Google account in the iCal Account Preference. However, when I sync to my iPhone 4, I cannot see those subscribed calendars on my iPhone 4. Everything else is okay. I've tried both CalDAV & Gmail sync. Neither one works. Could anyone help me on this? Many thanks in advance.
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
I was having the same problem and was looking for a solution which brought me here. And about 30 seconds after reading your post I found a solution by mistake. Here's what I did.
    1) I set up my device like explained here.
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
Which I believe you've already done.
    2) Then I went to my Google calendar and went to the subscribed calendar settings and copied the ical calendar address and sent it to myself.
    3) I clicked on the address in my email account on my computer, and it asked me where I wanted the subscription in iCal, so I picked the account I had linked to Google Calendar through the setup in step 1.
    4) That was it.
It now is part of my Google Calendar and no longer a subscription and shows up everywhere. Only problem is I can't change the color because it is now merged with my google calendar, but it beats having to subscribe to it on all my devices. Which is another option.
    Hope this helps.

  • Synch iCal and Address Book on my 20G iPod

I used to be able to load the contents of my calendar (iCal) and Address Book onto my iPod before a trip. Today I found that it no longer works.
iTunes still synchs my music files but not the rest. It "doesn't see" the contents of Address Book for instance (Message: No contacts available) and asks me if I want to open it and add a few names. Same with Calendar.
If I open either Address Book or iCal, the files open fine with all their content.
Any suggestions? I am preparing for a new trip...
