Subscribing to events in SOA composite in-progress

I have a BPEL process. My requirement is , my BPEL process is in progress. After doing some operation, it has to wait for a Message from a webservice. This webservice is invoked by a Mediator which is subscribed to an event published via an ADFBC component.
My design steps are :
I created a BPEL process. In my composite , i created a Mediator which is subscibed to an Update Event. I have linked the Mediator with the WebService (in the External Reference swim lane of composite.xml). Then, i added the reference wire from BPEL component to
the Web Service.
In my bpel process , i created a pick activity and in the onMessage branch of the pick activity, i have mapped my webservice wsdl and operation.
When i tried testing , i created an instance of the BPEL process. In the SOA Console, it is showing that it is waiting for the message from the web service. Then from my UI, i updated the row in order to create the update event. Again, i went to the same BPEL Process instance, but still it is in pending state .
It looks like Mediator is not at all being invoked.
Am i missing any step ?
Please provide any solution.

Hi,
I have used a pick activity now in my BPEL Process which waits for a OnMessage from a Webservice which is being invoked by a Mediator. This Mediator is subscribed to a Create a event. I have followed the same steps mentioned in the link . Now i am facing a different problem. I ran one instance of the BPEL process. It waits for the onMessage from the webservice and thus in a running state.Now, i created an event which invokes an instance of the Mediator and the Mediator invokes the webservice. But the response of the webservice is not coming to the onMessage branch of the pick activity of the BPEL process. It seems that the BPEL instance is not at all knowing about the webservice invoked by the Mediator. Do i need to use the correlation set ? If yes, how can i use that as there is no Correlation tab in Mediator ? How can i make my bpel instance know about the running mediator instance and the webservice invoked by the Mediator?
