Subscribing to Ical group

Can a person using a PC Windows XP or Vista subscribe to an iCal group?

This problem may not have anything to do with your hostname.
I've had a similar problem subscribing to calendars from the web interface. In my experience, iCal still doesn't allow ssl encrypted webcal subscriptions. Notice the address you referenced from your log... "http://wiki.mydomain.net:8443" should be "https://wiki.mydomain.net:8443" with SSL.
This is how I have worked around it...
Set the SSL option in the authentication pane of the iCal service in Server Admin to "Redirect" instead of "Use". This will redirect traffic from port 8008 to port 8443 (or whatever you have set your iCal service ports to.
In the subscription dialog in iCal (after clicking the "Subscribe in iCal" link from the web interface), change the port number in the address to 8008 (or whatever your non-SSL port is).
It's not pretty, but it's working.

  • Is it possible to subscribe to Server Group Wiki Calendar with the iPhone?

I would like to subscribe to Group Wiki Calendar with an iPhone, but I am not having much luck.
The Group Wiki is on our on Snow Leopard Mini Server. I have successfully subscribed to the calendar with iCal on client computers and the calendar updates correctly on the LAN. The calendar also updates correctly when the client computer is on a WAN (off site).
I would now like to subscribe to the calendar so employees iPhones automatically update changes made to the Wiki Group Calendar.
I have taken the URL from the Info window of the subscribed calendar in iCal and used it in the setup of a Subscription Account on the iPhone, but it consistently fails to verify the user account.
I have tried many variations of the URL based on forum readings, but still no success.
Does anyone know if it is possible to subscribe to a Group Wiki using the iPhone and, if so, what is the correct URL statement to get the iPhone to see the Wiki calendar?
    Thank you in advance.

I tried several versions of this:
    http://hostname.domainname.com:8008/principals/wikis/wikiname
    https://hostname.domainname.com:8443/principals/wikis/wikiname
and after the "Wiki Server Update 1.0" by Apple...
    http://hostname.domainname.com:8008/principals/uids/wiki-wikiname
    https://hostname.domainname.com:8443/principals/uids/wiki-wikiname
    None of them work.
I am running SLS 10.6.4 with the Wiki Server Update 1.0. Wiki calendars from the web and in iCal.
iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0 & iPod touch with iOS 3.1.3 trying to connect over WiFi.
1 How is everyone else connecting their iPhones to SLS services?
2 Anyone using the "Mobile Access" or another Mac proxy server?
3 What about VPN from iPhone to SLS for these services?
4 What Firewall/NAT settings between the world and your SLS do you use?

  • ICal group publishing?

I have an iCal group of 10 calendars. I want my salesmen to see this group. Is there any way to do this besides them subscribing to ten individual published calendars?

    Greetings,
If you wish to share an entire group of calendars with others (not just send them individual events or calendars) then you will need a host.  A host is a server which sits on the internet and holds the calendar for you.
If you are a MobileMe subscriber (a host) you could provide your login name and password to everyone that needs access to these calendars and they can add the MobileMe account to their computer to see all the calendars.  I only recommend doing this if you are using a MobileMe account dedicated to this business purposes as you should never give your personal account information to anyone else.
You could also sign up for a free calendar service like Gmail calendars / Google calendars (a host) and then provide the login information to all those that need access.  They can add the GoogleCalendar to their computer to see all the calendars at once.
Beyond that you could also setup your own calendar server using Mac OS X Server.  That may be more features than you are looking for although it can be highly useful.  If you think you might be interested in getting a server installed in your office you might want to locate a Mac OS X Server consultant in your area to discuss your needs: http://consultants.apple.com/
    Hope that helps.

  • Publishing iCal group to web WITH colors

Here is my problem. I can publish my iCal group to the web and view the group calendars just fine, but the colors do not show up in web view like they do in the application.
What am I doing wrong, or is there a solution?
    Thanks!

    Johnny,
There is nothing that you are doing wrong.
What you are observing is simply a limitation of the publish feature.
You may want to provide Apple - iCal - Feedback.

  • Published ical-group

I published an ical-group with .mac. In the beginning there were three calendars. Then I opened a new caladar in this group. But now it is not published. What's to do?

    Robert,
If you added a new calendar to the group, then you will have to click on the Group Calendar name in the iCal sources (Calendars) window and then select iCal>Calendar>Refresh.
Updating Internet calendars provides additional information.

  • ICal Groups and Palm Categories

I've been struggling to get these two programs to work together well and may have finally figured it out. But before I go and screw up my iCal and/or Palm device...
If I name all my categories in my Palm the same as the Events in my iCal Group, will they sync correctly? Or will it end up being a big mish-mosh?
Anyone had any luck doing this?

I don't know - I haven't had any problems at all. Here is how iCal calendar to Palm category is intended to work:
    Calendars and Categories
    • iCal events are assigned to a Palm category with the same name as the calendar they are part of.
If the category does not exist on the Palm device, the Events conduit creates a category with the calendar name and assigns the event to that category. If that category cannot be added - due to space limitations - the event is added to Unfiled.
    • Palm events/tasks that are in a specific category are sent to that calendar in iCal only if a calendar with the same name as the category exists.
If the calendar does not exist, the record will be sent to the calendar that is chosen in the conduit configuration sheet. If the calendar is read only, the event/task will be ignored.
    • On the first synchronization of read-only calendars, the items are properly assigned to the correct category on the device.
If any edit is made to an item in a read-only calendar the change is ignored but will persist on the device until something forces it to be overwritten by data from the desktop, like if the R/O item was updated. If an item is assigned to a read-only calendar - a new event, etc - it will be switched to the calendar you have selected in your preferences.
    • Calendars listed in the conduit settings are pulled from Sync Services, meaning that if iCal has not finished synchronizing with Sync Services the full list of calendars may not be read.
    I'm curious about something…
When you first installed the Missing Sync for Palm OS, did you faithfully follow the instructions to synchronize one final time with iSync - so that your handheld and desktop applications contain essentially identical record sets - and, then set the Mark/Space conduits to Overwrite handheld with desktop data prior to the initial synchronization?

  • Ical group

How can I set up and configure a calendar for one group? I would like people share and view the events of the calendar.
Doing it on the wiki is nor optimal, because some users doesn't get all the calendars of their group. And the wiki's subscribe link is not working at all.

Thank you very much. I get the idea to create calendars for groups with Lion Server.
    - Create a "Calendar Administrator" User account at the Lion Server
    - Connect from "iCal" Lion application as a "Calendar Administrator"
    - Create as many calendars as you want to share at this server is user. (File > New Calendar > $SERVER$)
    - Share this calendar with people from the server's accounts.
Now it works like charm, but a tutorial from Apple would be great because I wasted several hours on this simple configuration.
    Thank you very much Atrato

  • Subscribing in iCal on my iPad to someone else's Google calendar.

How do I subscribe to someone's Google calendar in iCal for my iPad?

Photos can be transferred to an iPad via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another computer via the iTunes sync process, all photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first.
There is a free iDisk app available for the iPad via the iTunes store. If you transfer the photos to your iDisk, you can access the photos from your iDisk with the iDisk app, but you can't sync photos with your iDisk.
There is also a free MobileMe Gallery app via the iTunes store you can use to view photos in your MobileMe Galleries.

  • ICal Group Calendar - Line command

Does anyone know how to create a group calendar other than through the wiki interface? I would think there is a line command as well.
I have created group calendars on several osx servers in the past. I have two 10.6.4 servers that seem to have an authorization or communication issue when creating the calendar through the wiki.
    Apache: *PROPFIND /principals/wikis/company/ HTTP/1.1" 500 201*
Ical err Failure: *twisted.internet.error.ConnectionRefusedError: Connection was refused by other side: 61: Connection refused*.
Accessing the group calendar through the wiki give in in browser error:
    quest URL:
    *Request Method:PROPFIND*
    *Status Code:500 Internal Server Error*
I thought I'll debug it further by creating a group calendar by command line. Does anyone know how to do that? Or any other suggestions where to continue?

Thanks for that, Jonathan, but it appears to have a problem: you apparently can't use the Address Panel if you fill in the Account URL field, and all the attendees I fill in to events aren't "real" they have little exclams before their name, instead of check marks.
It seems that the Address Panel only works with accounts that have "Automatically discover server address" checked, and each account for which you have that checked must have a different Username -- you can't use a group name.
I suppose you could set up dummy user names so you could access the groups somehow, AND have the Address Panel working properly...
It's too bad this stuff doesn't work better. I'll bet it doesn't get better before the next "kitty" release, 18-24 months from now...

  • ICal 2 on emac with 10.4 subscribing to iCals  created on Intel 10.5 iCal

The iCal on the emac is not picking up the published iCals produced on an Intel 10.5 iCal. I have tried deleting and re-subscribing to no avail. Should I upgrade the emac to Leopard? Any ideas?

    Steven,
Maybe I should upgrade the emac to Leopard?
Only if your eMac meets these technical specifications... http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/ ,and you absolutely want Leopard features.
I am using both Tiger and Leopard successfully with MobileMe. As long as everything else is working, I personally would not upgrade.
Perhaps I do not fully understand your basic question. If you want a user account to have read access only, a published/subscribed calendar will meet that requirement as long as the published calendar is set up to publish whenever changes are made.

  • Publishing and subscribing to iCal's on same computer

    Hi,
Is it possible for two different users (profiles in fast user switching) to publish/subscribe to each other's ical's? If so, what do I put in the "SERVER" line on the subscribe to window?
    Thanks!

No, it's not the only way, but it is the easiest.
You could start webdav on your machine's Apache server and both subscribe to it locally (instructions - http://www.shawnwall.com/teach/webdav-ical.php ), or some people have got making symbolic links work. Both involve playing around in the Terminal.

  • Does Snow Leopard Server iCal Service support iCal Groups?

I have successfully configured iCal Service on Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8v1.1 and have several client Mac system (runing SL 10.6.8v1.1) connected to this service via CalDAV. I can create new calendars and those calendars and any test events propigate to all machines that have this CalDAV account configured. But whenever I try to create a calendar group it always appears as a local calendar group. Is this a feature missing when using iCal Server and CalDAV? Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi
I doubt if you'll find a step-by-step as most people's requirements are different. One of the places most people start is here:

  • Creating iCal groups for iCloud

Is there any way to create a new calendar group for the iCloud? When I create a new group in iCal, it only creates it on my Mac, and I can't see any options of creating a new group in the iCloud calendars. Are "Home" and "Work" the only options for iCloud iCal?

    Hi All,
I don't think SPRO---Logistics general -Material master- Tools --- Maintain authorization and authorization profiles is the right path to create new authorization groups.
Can anyone explain how to create new authorization groups for different material types. The purpose is to create a role and assign this auth. group to this role and provide that security role to specific users.
