Subscribing to Podcasts from Apple TV

Is there any way to subscribe to podcasts directly from the ATV?
I subscribe to a number of HD video podcasts and watch them with the ATV. I would like to get them to go straight to ATV so I wouldn't have to fill up my computer hard drive with videos that I also have on ATV. I would like to find a way to leave them only on ATV.

It would be nice to subscribe via the Apple TV so that you could spot what you haven't listen to/watched yet, but the direct streaming without downloading/iTunes involvement is very nice.
One thing I still see, the list of available podcasts is not current, which is surprising. For example, Mahalo Daily shows "How to Speak French" as the most current version, but my iTunes subscription shows a more recent one called "How to Propose," which came out last night. It's one day behind. The same is also true of the TWIT show, "Daily Gizwiz." One day behind from the one I have in my iTunes library. You would think Apple would be pulling these lists from the same source as iTunes, but apparently the refresh for the Apple TV version is less frequent than the iTunes refresh. Hopefully this will be corrected soon.

  • Can't subscribe to podcasts through apple app iphone 4s

I downloaded the new Apple Podcasts app.  I am trying to subscribe to some podcasts that interest me however when I touch the subscribe button in the app nothing happens.  I can subsribe to some but not to all, yet all give me the option to subscribe.  For example, I cannot subscribe to either NBC nightly news or ESPN PTI.  I uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  Reset network setting, nothing.  Any suggestions?  Are you only able to subscribe to certain podcasts through the app?
Also, is there is a way when you do subscribe to only keep like the newest 1 or 2.  I want the newest one to replace the current one on my phone.  This will help with clutter and storage space.  Thanks for any advice.

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and sign out of the account. Then log back in using the same Apple ID your used to originally purchase iTunes Match.

  • I am having some problems i successfully log in, but having to log in every time you go to get your podcast from Apple?

i am having trouble logging into a podcast that asks me for my username and password but it comes back again and again? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is it legal to subscribe podcast from itunes US if i am not  american?

i kind of saw a term that said :"The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance." in REQUIREMENTS FOR USE OF THE ITUNES SERVICE of B. ITUNES STORE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
so does it means it's not legal to access american store if i am not a american? i know it may be legal to purchase music or apps there. But is it exclude subscribe podcast?coz we dont even need an account if we wanna subscribe podcast from itunes store US.
PS:i found FAQ about podcast http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/fanfaq.html in apple's official website. although it's still a US webpage.
How can I find podcasts in my language?
To see podcasts that are popular in other countries, click on the Home icon to go to the main page for the iTunes store. At the bottom of the main page is a My Store menu that allows you to switch to different stores. Once in the desired store, navigate to the Podcasts page. In the Top Podcasts list, for example, you will find podcasts popular in that country“
Does it means it's okay it's legal to access other country's itunes store?
Someone one help me ... THX!

The iTunes Store does not host podcasts themselves, only links to them, so you can probably find a direct link to any given podcast by searching the web. Then you can see what terms the providers of the podcast has, if any, for who can access it.
    Regards.

  • Email from Apple states there is a podcast error but gives no specifics. The feed validates and follows all Apple podcast spesifications.

I require information about an apparent error with my podcast feed.
I have tried numerous times to submit a podcast to Apple iTunes. There is no issue with the XML feed. It validates in both the W3C validator and the iTunes reccomended validation service.
The submision process works through iTunes without problem. However I keep receiving these email reposnes from Apple:
    Dear podcast owner,
An error was encountered while trying to add your feed, [ http://feeds.mhpn.org.au/feeds/webinarsrss.aspx ].
Please correct the error and submit your feed again. For additional information, please consult the podcast FAQ at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/faq.html and technical specification at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Store team
This email from Apple is generic and does not clarify what the error is nor how I can correct it.
I just spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Apple support. Was bumped to three consultants and two senior consultants who could not give me any information. The last senior consulatnt told me to try this forum.
    Would appreciate any assistance/advice.
    Thank you kindly.

iTunes Support won't help you diagnose problems in your feed. The feed validates in FeedValidator, and can be subscribed to manually in iTunes.
However, it's lacking what should be the first line:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Also, the '.aspx' extension may be causing problems - this method of constructing and accessing feeds (which I don't know anything about) may not work in the Store (which is a quite different matter from the iTunes application, which is more robust). A direct link to the file, with the .xml extension, would be better.
Though it's not a fatal error, your feed is lacking the 'itunes:duration' tag - its absence may be an issue in the Store (certainly it is when people put it as 1 second, for example).
Otherwise the feed seems to be OK, but it's badly laid out which, though that shouldn't affect its usability, makes it difficult to look at for problems.
However there may be an issue with the actual media files. It's a requirement for the Store that the server can handle 'byte range requests': this is the method used by iPhones, consisting of requesting part of the file at a time rather than the entire file. The Terminal test for this shows this isn't working:
    curl -I -r 200-300 http://feeds.mhpn.org.au/uploads/audio/MHPN_13_MAY_2013_RB.mp3
HTTP/1.1 416 Requested Range Not Satisfiable

    Content-Range: bytes */0
That is likely to get you rejected, though in that case they were originally saying so in the rejection notice (normally they don't give any reason) - they may have stopped doing that. In order to deal with that you will have either to get the server sorted out or find a server which can handle it.

  • Why no "Subscribe to Podcast" capability in Apple TV 2.0?

I want to be able to subscribe to a podcast from my new Apple TV 2.0 (just purchased this week) and have it kept up to date for me without me having to have a subscription to it from iTunes on one of my computers. I am disappointed that this capability seems to be missing from Apple TV 2.0. I know for other media you don't want the Apple TV to be the only place it resides, but to me, these podcasts are ephemeral. I watch them, I delete them, and I don't need backups of them. If something went wrong with the Apple TV and I lost some podcasts that were on there, I don't care. I primarily got the Apple TV to simplify obtaining and watching these podcasts, so the lack of this capability is (almost) enough to make me want to return it ...

I agree completely. The whole point of podcasts is that you subscribe to them, forget it, then return later....voila! You have new content waiting for you. The fact that you have to keep going to the podcast directory or favorite podcast list to download the newest episode ruins the whole idea.
The way Apple TV deals with podcasts is analogous to having to call up the New York Times every time you want the newest paper delivered. What gives??
I'm aware of the fact that I can subscribe to podcasts in iTunes and set my ATV to sync with my laptop, but isn't ATV supposed to be a standalone device now? My whole reason for purchasing an ATV after the update was that I thought this was a way I could free up some HD space on my laptop and keep all the big media files like video podcasts on the AppleTV alone. I'm pretty disappointed that I can't.
I should have stuck to what I was doing before: using Miro to aggregate podcasts, then plug my laptop into the plasma with a DVI to HDMI cable.
Apple please fix this in version 2.1 so I don't feel like I just wasted $330!

  • I haven't received any email contact from Apple after submitting my first podcast. Have a missed something?

I've managed to create my first podcast and was informed from others that upon posting to the iTunes store, Apple would send an email confirming it has received the podcast and another about 24 hours later confirming it has been indexed and providing a link to make it live.
As of yet, I've received none, including checking my junk emails.
The podcast shows up when clicking File > Subscribe to a podcast and entering in the RSS feed url, yet when clicking on the podcast and selecting > Show in iTunes Store, it yields no results. As a result, you can't search for the podcast in the iTunes Store or provide a direct link to it.
I'm using Libsyn as the RSS host (http://processtheprocess.libsyn.com/rss) and Feedburner(http://feeds.feedburner.com/ProcessTheProcess).
The "Subscribe with iTunes" on the Feed Burner page works and provides a link to download the podcast, but I'd like for it to be searchable on iTunes before continuing.
Is there a logical explanation to this and have I missed an important step along the way?

When you submit a feed you should get an ackowledgment email. After that it can take a couple of weeks for your podcast to be accepted (24 days is wildly optimistic) at which point you should be sent another email giving you the Store page URL. The emails may possibly have gone missing in transit, but that wouldn't prevent your podcast eventually going live as you don't have to do anything further. However the ability to locate a podcast through Search usually takes a further period, making it more difficult to discover whether the podcast is up or not.
You could try emailing Support as podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking about this, but it's quite likely you won't get a specific reply.
One possible test is to try submitting the feed again. If it has been registered as submitted you will be told that it has already been submitted, which will at least tell you that it's in process.

  • How can I subscribe to a free podcast from a different country's i-store?

How can I subscribe to a free podcast from a different country's i-store? I tried, but it says I can use only store in the country of residence. I just bought imac to be able to watch podcasts from my home country which is not country of residence... It is completely unreasonable!

    You cannot.
As it has told you, you can use the itunes store of your country of residence and only while you are inside the borders of that country.
    Sorry.

  • Hacked Message: Your Apple ID was just used to download Podcasts from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID

So I just got a message from Apple saying
"Your Apple ID was just used to download Podcasts from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID"
I am new to Apple products and signed up to the app store about an hour before but have not downloaded any apps yet.
I also turned on iCloud Drive.
Neither of these are Podcasts and I do not have any Podcasts on my device.
The message is a really poor warning, it could for instance list the IP address which would immediately tell me if it was me.
It could list what type of device it was.
It could list what Podcast was downloaded.
But no, just some random message, probably generated by the really bad default iPhone settings that put ease of use before security.
I have a long complex password that I do not want ot have to change just because Apple generates a stupid message.
On Google you have a log of all logins and devices, is there something similar with Apple, so I can figure this out?

    Kroll17 wrote:
I don't know, I thought it was pretty clear
"was just used to download Podcasts from the App Store"
it said it was used to download a Podcast from the App Store
I have not down downloaded any podcasts and there are no podcasts in the podcasts app, of course if Apple were to list the podcast that was downloaded, the IP address and the device it might help one dismiss the message.
I am running the latest v8.1.1 although how the version of my OS related to a message generated by Apple servers is beyond me, unless my device is not authenticating properly so Apple thinks I am someone else but then as I have not downloaded any Podcasts that would not seem to be the issue.
It does NOT say you downloaded a podcast. First, podcasts are not downloaded from the App Store; they are downloaded from the iTunes store.
It's very clear to me; the app named  "Podcasts" was downloaded, not a podcast. "Podcasts" is a app provided by Apple for managing and downloading podcasts.

  • How do I stop podcasts from playing automatically on my Apple TV instead of my computer?

When I try to watch a video podcast on my computer, it will automatically connect to my Apple TV via AirPlay and try to play it there (even though I have just double-clicked it on my computer). But sometimes I just want to play it on my computer, not on the Apple TV. Once it does go to Apple TV, then I have to go to the bottom of the computer screen and switch from Apple TV to computer. But I would prefer not to have to do this, since the process needlessly turns on my Apple TV every time (and sometimes my Apple TV doesn't work properly, meaning that if the connection can't get established, I can't watch the podcast at all because it won't just let me play on my computer from the beginning). How do I prevent it from automatically going to the Apple TV every time, and just get it to play on my computer? I feel like I've looked at every setting. Thanks

'''Turning off updates for firefox isn't a good idea''', as each release contains security fixes that are disclosed to the public. However, you can if you want to. Go to the firefox preferences (type about:preferences in the url bar), choose the "advanced" tab, and then choose "update". You can then select "never check for updates".

I don't want to turn off updates. I want hotshot programmers to N-O-T configure Firefox to CHANGE what I have set up on my computer. I want them to N-O-T remove stuff from Firefox that I use every day. I can't even remember what they called that list of options in the upper left of the screen, but I used it regularly. Now it is ripped out. $&^*&&^%$#@
I guarantee you, if somebody had sat down at MY computer and removed those features, I would have beat him bloody. WHY DO SOME HOTSHOTS SOMEWHERE THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THEN i DO WHAT i NEED??????
DON'T force me to use my computer as you use yours. Give me the OPTIONS to choose. Options. Not YOUR WAY - options.
Like I said, it looks to me like you're trying to impress hot shots some where. Don't destroy perfectly good applications in the process. Give S-O-M-E thought to what non-geeks NEED.
AND when pseudo answering complaints, give us the chance to talk to somebody, not que up on a yet another pick list of off subject nonsense.

I am trying to stream podcasts from iTunes on my Mac Book Pro to my (lastgen) Apple TV. I am able to use it as speakers and play audio podcasts, but so far no video.

  • How can I delete podcasts from the Apple TV podcast menu on my television?

There are podcasts that I prefer my kids not know I listen to...they are gone from iTunes yet they appear on the Apple TV menu and I can't seem to figure out how to delete them?  Is it possible?  Thanks!

    Helo utahskierdave,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to delete podcasts from your Apple TV that have already been deleted from iTunes. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the following post and using the troubleshooting steps within.

  • Podcast problem. Does anybody from Apple read and reply to these?

I've read through the discussions and found that somebody else has raised a problem not being able to delete podcasts or hile them in the vew on Windows but seemingly there is an option on Mac.
This looks like a genuine issue with the new iTunes release and wondering if anybody from Apple can indicate if this is going to be fixed.... soon
    thx

Apple won't comment on the issue. They ought to be aware of the problem since a number of users have submitted feedback. With luck the next build will address the issue. In the meantime the My Podcasts view only shows the downloaded episodes rather than the entire feed.

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.
