  • License for "non profit organisations"

    Hi Kodo Developer,
my native language is german - so please excuse any curios diction...
I'm working with Kodo since my degree dissertation in December 2001.
Your work and the surrounding topics about object/relation-mapping was
the root of the matter, so thanks to all people, who mangaged to get
Kodo working. Especially thanks for your help in the newsgroup many mothes
    ago!
As i mentioned: Kodo was part of my dissertation, which comprised a
    midrange
project to store and retrieve data of corneas and their donors. The
ophthalmic clinic (one of the bigest in Germany) is depend on my work,
    because clinics in
Germany are suppost to be non profit and so they depend on the money they
get from department of health. And as you may know the finacial situation
in this sector is very bad. This is one of the reason why my work for
this project is for free! So let me ask you: is there any way to get Kodo
not for free (of course!) but for less than the full license price? Is it
possible to buy a "No Deployment"- License - just for the current project?
I dont now if its possible to avoid any use outside this project - but i
assure so that i will not use this special license in other projects.
Maybe Solarmetric is selling academicaly license?
So please think about my petition - the clinic is a non profit
    organisation!
But let me be more technical:
I'm using for busines-classes no ide - just ant (apache sf) as build tool.
The database is PostgreSQL and MySQL. For testing i use the database from
enhydra. In the Future there is the plan to use this solution to exchange
cornea and donor data between several clinics so there is the need for
    the distributed (enterprise) version.
In the end let me thank you all once again for implementing the jdo
    specification!
    Best regards, Claudius Gr____ver
PS: When i employed (searching still) i will any time suggest my employer
    to use Kodo!

    Hi Claudius,
We most definitely have a Academic Program for teachers and researchers. In
addition, we have put together a program for non-profit organizations as

Thank you for the kind words about Kodo JDO. I don't know if you've had a
chance to download Kodo JDO 2.3.1, but we are very excited about the changes
in this most current version of Kodo JDO that includes a preview release of
    our reverse schema mapping tool.

  • What product do u recommend for creating a newsletter for a small non-profit community association?

I just signed up for this forum. I´m thinking of creating a newsletter in Swedish for a small non-profit association in Sweden. Since everyone can download Adobe reader for free I´m thinking of using Adobe for the newsletter. Is there a light version available for non-profit assocaiations?

Acrobat can't be used to create the newsletter from scratch. For that you
need to use some word processing or layout application, like Word or
InDesign. Acrobat then comes into the picture when you want to convert the
original file format to the universally-used PDF format. If your needs are
basic, you can use Acrobat Standard, which is a cheaper version (with less
features, of course) of Acrobat Pro, but is totally capable of creating PDF
files from those formats I mentioned before.

  • Buy garage-band by a non-profit organisation

    hello,
does apple or other stores do discount for a non-profit organisation, to buy garage-band only (or inside ilife) ?
    thank you

GarageBand only comes as part of the iLife Suite. There is educational pricing, but the Apple Store doesn't mention Non-Profit organizations that I can see. I'd suggest you contact the Apple Store for the best info.

  • Do Non-Profit Organisations Get Discounts?

    Hello,
We are a non-profit organisation based in London, currently seeing if Adobe gives a discount. If so, do you know what we should do or who to contact about the matter? We tried the 'Chat' option, and it's currently unavailable. We'd appreciate your help!

  • Hp Touchsmart Computer Help for a Chicago Non-profit

    Hello All,
Im wondering if someone can point me in a general direction, I work at a non-profit http://www.associationhouse.org/Main/Services.html  and need help with an HP IQ815 Touchsmart Computer with Vista Home.  We have a couple of said Touchsmart Computers and we are going to utilize them like a kiosk, so people from the community can get information on our various training programs and possibly even sign up for them depending on how robust the software is.  Also it would be helpful to have the program password protected so people cannot change images etc..  Now this might sound premature because I have not even messed around with the computer yet and I have no previous experience doing so, but im on a very tight schedule and if I can hit the ground running it would be ideal.  My question is this, is there onboard software that I can use to achieve this or should we buy something?  We are willing to buy something because we want it to be a in-depth experience.  Any advice comments warning would be very much appreciated, and you will help us give people training they need to make a living.  Thank you so much.

I would buy a personal kiosk program, and customize it.
    http://www.electronicart.com/kiosks/software/
    Hope this helps.
I have more HP devices than you'd expect.
1 HP TouchPad 32 GB with Android
    2 HP Touchsmarts (310-1000z and IQ527)
    2 HP Printers (J6480 and J5750)
    1 Laptop (HP DV6253CL)
Have at least some experience in each of those devices, and i'll do my best to help you.
    Kudos if I helped!

  • Price of Photoshop Elements for a non-profit charity

    Hello,
I am interested in getting Photoshop for a Uk-based charity, and wondered what their options are. They cannot afford the monthly subscription to Photoshop & Lightroom that is currently on offer and I wondered if you had any fantastic offers for non-profit organisations. I suspect that Photoshop Elements will be sufficient for their needs. They have pretty much no budget at all!
    Many thanks,

Hi, hellopaul4. This is the user to user forum, not Adobe, and we're just other customers like you. I would contact Adobe Sales to see what they can do for you.

  • Non profit qualifications for Australia?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I have searched everywhere and cannot find an answer anywhere and Adobe only offer phone contact details which does not suit me.
I work for a non profit organisation in Australia and am trying to find out whether Adobe offers the creative suite here under education prices. Under the Education link it seems to say that it does offer it internationally including Australia but then when you click on the institution tab it says it only applies to the US and Canada. It's very frustrating, I even went to the giftsinkind site which is where Adobe says you apply for it but once again no joy.
Has anyone else been able to get the creative suite in australia through adobe at the education prices for an NPO or do you just have to find a local reseller?

  • Adobe discounts for non-profit organizations

Hi I'm developing a site for a registered non-profit organization in Israel that promotes peaceful communications between Israelis and Palestinians and would like to use Dreamweaver cs5.
I would like to know if there are discounts for non-profit organizations? and if so what are they and how do I recieve them?
Any help or links much appreciated.
    David

This is a user-to-user forum, so you're unlikely to get any official response here. Adobe does offer special licensing for nonprofits in North America, but I don't know about the rest of the world. I suggest that you submit an inquiry through the form at http://www.adobe.com/support/inquiry.html.

  • Any discounts for non-profit institutions?

Some software, hardware and services companies offer discounts for non-profit groups, and I'm wondering if the Apple Online store, the App store, the iTunes store, offer discounts for such sales for use in non-profit institutions?

Apple isn't here. This is a user to user tech support forum. Best answered by a direct conversation with Apple.

  • HIPAA compliance...non-profit...please help...!

I am not an IT professional nor anywhere close, but I a work for a small non-profit and, being that I am considered the most tech savvy employee we have, I have been challenged with the task of building us a database.
So, I have been busting my tail over the last couple of months to build some knowledge and experience from the ground up. I've worked with Access, SQL Server, and MySQL to gain familiarity with much of the development process (at least on the backend), normalization,
    etc...
But, I haven't figured out the best way to deploy the database yet. I'm not even sure I'm familiar with all of the options, and I'm having a hard time for a couple of reasons:
    1) Whatever I do needs to be HIPAA compliant, since there is PHI involved
    2) I am basically being asked to do all of this with a $0 budget (I know we can spend a very small amount of money, but as a non-profit we just don't have a lot to spare).
    3) It's important that our database is accessible to remote users.
What is the best/cheapest/still HIPAA compliant way I can do this?
The reason I asked all of this here is because I see that Microsoft with sign a BAA with Azure but I'm not even really sure what all services I would need and how much that would cost. I apologize for my ignorance...I'm
just trying to make sense of all of this.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Just in case you hadn't seen this yet, here is the Azure Trust Center:
    [1]
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/trust-center/compliance/
That details our HIPAA compliance and the steps to getting a BAA.
HIPAA Compliance isn't something that comes out of a box, necessarily, because there are a lot of controls required from your end to become and remain compliant. You should check out the HIPAA Website for Business Entities: [2]
    http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/coveredentities/index.html
That site has a lot of requirements, etc. In order for your application to be compliant, you must consume compliant services (i.e. Azure with a BAA) and your business/non-profit can be held directly accountable for any non-compliance which is deemed harmful
for consumers. Before you get too deep, be sure you spend at least as much time researching HIPAA as you do researching databases. :)
That said, if you follow the guidelines on how to use Azure SQL DB in a HIPAA compliant matter which can be found in the PDF under the HIPAA section of the trust center [1], and you receive the BAA, that is the path to compliance. Most of the steps
are how you set up access control around your database. Yes, you can access it remotely anywhere (it's the cloud after all :)), but you need to have very strict rules on who you let access that data and also what data is encrypted in that database. The encryption
requirements can be some of the hardest to meet today, especially if you're not very tech savvy.
If you have any other questions or anything specific to the best practices of using Azure SQL DB securely, feel free to reply and I'll do my best to help inform you.

  • Can a veterans non-profit purchase ipads in quantity at a discount?

Does anyone know if there is a program whereas ipads can be purchased in quantity for a discount for a veterans non-profit organization?

Apple has no stated quantity discounts for anyone other than schools, but you can always talk to the Business reps at your local Apple Store:
    http://www.apple.com/retail/business/
or the online Apple Store and ask; for the US, see:
    http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313?target=smb
They may have some room for negotiation. If not, talk to an authorized Apple dealer that carries iPads. They may not be able to discount much, if at all, on the iPad but may give you a good break on cases or other accessories where they have more margin to work with.
    Regards.
