Subscription to DPS

I have a subscription to DPS with Creative Cloud and I have to design an app for a client of mine that will operate on its own as a developer / publisher to the Apple Store and the Google Store.
Can I use my subscription to DPS to publish the IPA or must also subscribe to my client?

Let’s back up for a moment. You say you have a subscription to DPS through Creative Cloud. DPS and Creative Cloud are two different services. Creative Cloud includes single edition iPad apps only.
If that’s all the client needs, you are free to create them for your client but I strongly advise that the client have their own Apple Developer account. Beyond these iPad single edition apps your client will need a pro or enterprise DPS account.

  • 12mth subscription with DPS

If we publish our magazine on the 1st of the month, and someone buys a subscription to the magazine on the 2nd of the month, do they have to wait an entire month before receiving the first issue they've purchased? Thanks for your help! (folio is for iPad and iPhone)

Here's how DPS subscriptions are designed to work. Users sign up for a subscription duration, such as 1 year. When they subscribe, they are entitled to all folios in which the Publication Date setting falls between the subscriber's start date and end date, plus they get access to the most recently published folio. Adobe added the most recently published folio to the subscription period so that users would be entitled to a new issue when they subscribe. In your scenario, your customer who subscribes on the 2nd of the month would be entitled to the magazine published on the first of the month because it's the most recently published folio.

  • How do I go about upgrading my subscription to DPS Professional? (I'm a Creative cloud member)

I need to be able to publish an in-app puchase application in app store/itunes. It is for a magazine that will have multiple issues. If I understand correctly I need to have a DPS Professional license.. So, if I'm right how do I go about upgrading.

Looks like you are in Norway, here is the link: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/store/handlers/elicensing/trialconversion.cfm?locale=EN_NO&sk u=65148781&view=editcart. If you aren't in Norway let me know and I can provide the correct link for your country.

  • [DPS] Monthly subscription canceleable or not?

    Hello everyone !!
Concerning the month-to-month subscription for DPS, it is said in the subscription terms:
Your month-to-month subscription renews automatically and your credit card will be charged the fees stated at the time of purchase plus applicable taxes each month.  Price may change at the end of your subscription period.  You will receive a receipt via email when your card has been charged. Your subscription will start as soon as your credit card is successfully charged.  You may cancel your subscription at any time via the subscription manager on Adobe.com or by calling Adobe customer service at the number for your region.  Subscription (except Digital Publishing Suite subscription) cancelled within the first 30 days after purchase will be refunded. Digital Publishing Suite subscriptions will not be refunded unless required by law.
I saw in an other post that it was not possible to cancel the subscription, even the month-to-month one, before the end of the first year, so I just don't understand any more.
Is it possible to cancel the month-to-month subscription within the first year of contract? Let's say I want to publish 12 issues of my magazine in six months, one every two weeks, and then stop everything if I see it's not successful. Can I stop the subscription and not pay for the remaining six months?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm fairly confident that the monthly part refers only to how you pay, not the commitment.  It's still a yearly contract, you just pay in monthly installments instead of the whole year lump sum up front.  An Adobe reseller can help clarify this.

  • DPS subscriptions: Background Downloads working?

Last week I subscribed to The New Yorker to test iTunes subscriptions, Adobe DPS and Newsstand.
The newest issue "January 9, 2012" appears in my newsstand, but without the red badge on the newsstand icon, no notification at all and not downladed.
when I tap the new cover in the newsstand rack, the New Yorker App just starts and displays the old issue I was reading before.
    Is this the supposed behaviour?
I thought the newest issue will be downladed in the background (background downloads are activated in settings)
    —Johannes

I set my iPad's language to english and wow — The NewYorker looks amazing. They have a beautiful and great store.
As far as I could recognize it, today the newsstand showed to correct cover for the new issue without opening it (the app might be running in the background).
But background downloads and notification: still not working.
the newsstand SHOULD look like this, right?
when I open the new yorker app now I still get this: all issues purchased but not downloaded.
Is there something wrong at the NewYorker or is this a server issue?
am I supposed to see the progress of the background download inside the library view of the viewer?

  • How the iTunes Subscription (Viewer Builder 1.5.1 with Professional Edition account) works?

We're looking for some information appropriate for our purpose, about iTunes subscription on DPS viewer.
    Please look at questions below.
Q1. What does the "subscribe" button mean at the library screen? If we set a subscription product with one month duration and then our customers purchase for this, can they download all the folios at the library for one month?
Q2. Why an addiotional "subscribe" button appears on below of the latest folio's "purchase/download" button? Is there any specific reason?
Q3. We set everything for an iTunes Subscription viewer with 1 month subscription product both on the Viewer Builder 1.5.1 & iTunes connect in-app purchase manager. And we're now testing the developer version's functionality with an iTunes connect test user account. But when we click on the "subscribe" button and follow all the process, the result is nothing different that each folio, independently set as in-app product, is still showing "purchase" button, not "download". Do we misunderstand the function of iTunes Subscription on DPS viewer?
    Thank you.

Did you try if it actually charges you again ? Maybe it's the same problem like the one users have with already purchased songs, apps, folio's, etc. Upon buying it once again (after removal from the device), the store prompts something like "You've already bought it" ("Yeah I know, me stupid", I always hear my inner voice say) "Would you like to download it again?" ("Of course, why else should I bother, you stupid?") So maybe it's just the wording that might throw you off. Just like I don't like the "Achive" button next to folio's, that actually means (and should say) "Remove" ("Remove from this device, but retain your license"), just like the red-dotted x does with apps. Hey, why not show a red-dotted x ?

  • Can You Create a Creative Cloud-specific DPS Level?

I have been a Creative Cloud subscriber for over a year now as both a student and an educator and I have noticed one glaring thing wrong with including a subscription for DPS Single Edition for students (and small design & publishing houses/freelancers). In a nutshell, Single Edition is not enough to really launch people into Digital Publishing with the skills needed.
First and foremost SE is iOS-only. Because of Apple's refusal to allow 100% app devleopment/testing/signing on Windows, this requires students to own a Mac. While the program I teach in is done on Macintosh, about 75% of my students use Windows on their personal machines. Signing the apps using the lab computers would be a violation of the college Acceptable Use policies.
In addition, they need access to create content on Android, Windows, and Kindle Fire as well as most publications are at least on Apple/Android (and by extention Kindle) platforms.
My proposal is to create Digial Publication Suite Creative Cloud Edition. It would be just like Single Edition but allow for Multiple Folios that would allow entities to create digital publications and update them just like a real publication house such as Condé-Nast. Second, it would be available on all platforms allowing Windows users to utilize the subscription and also allow for them to prepare and test documents on multiple platforms. The third feature added would be limited analytics.

    Moved to Feature Request forum.

  • Restart expired subscription.

I had a monthly subscription to acrobat.com where I had my DPS folios. Somehow the subscription expired. I would like to re-subscribe provided I can access those folios. I know the apps are still there because I can access the server from my iPad and download them. I was told by chat that if I repurchased the service I could not work on my old files/workspace. Help?????

You mean you have a monthly professional subscription to DPS which expired? Login to your DPS dashboard https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/SignIn.html and check if you can see your folios there. If yes, you can renew your subscription and start publishing again

  • DPS Licensing RE iPhone

So here's my question. I work for a non-profit, and we currently produce a free iPad magazine 2-3 times a year (we actually just update the single branded version in iTunes, so only one issue is ever available at a time).  We signed up for the Professional membership last year before the single editions were announced. I had planned to transition to Single Editions when our subscription expired, but this iPhone thing is putting a wrench in it.
So, help me understand how this works.
With Single Editions, it seems like putting out an issue would cost:
    $395 for the iPad2 version
    $395 for the iPad3 version
    No ability to create iPhone.
Not a great solution. Would it be smarter to purchase the Professional edition monthly edition 2-3 times a year? Seems like that would just be $495 per/issue for us, and we'd get iPhone as well. Any downsides to this?
Also, and you create a single-folio app for iPhone? (i.e., not a multi-folio viewer) I know this isn't an option for Android, which has kept us off that platform.
I found this article: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/dps-indesign-authoring-for-iph one-ipod-touch.html, but it didn't seem to answer it clearly.
    Thanks!

'Not a great solution. Would it be smarter to purchase the Professional edition monthly edition 2-3 times a year? Seems like that would just be $495 per/issue for us, and we'd get iPhone as well. Any downsides to this?'
Can you use DPS monthly like this? i.e. - publish a multi-issue viewer, let your subscription to DPS expire, then renew in 3 months time and publish another folio to the same viewer?

  • Difference between student and professional DPS?

What is the difference? I'm really confused on the whole aspect. I've watched videos and read text but I'm still not understading the differences between the two.

There is a discount for Students and teachers on Creative Cloud subscription. With Creative Cloud subscription comes DPS Single Edition, using which you can create unlimited Single Folio Apps, these apps contain a single Folio Only. Also, DPS single edition allows you to create iPad apps only. http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-family/buying-guide.html
In Professional edition, you can create apps for iPad, iPhone, Android Tablets, Amazon Kindle. You can also create Multi issue apps and include subscriptions, you have varios addditional features like social sharing etc. There is a price diferrence too. So if you are aiming for wide customer base and you are okay with the pricing, go for Professional edition.
For details, refer to the buying guide: http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-family/buying-guide.html

  • DPS rules of engagements

    Hi,
I would like to ask few questions about licencing scenarios in Digital Publishing Suites, it is not all clear to me especialy when i think there is some missleading infos in Polish localized site.
On web page stays information that in monthly subscription plan i can make 250 folio files published thru DPS, this means:
    1. I can make 250 different folio publication files which can be downloaded by any number of customers/users or
    2. I can make any number of folio publications which can be downloaded only 250 times or
    3. I can make only one publication which can be downloaded 250 times?
Generaly my question is about this number 250 for exaple in professional monthly plan,
    1. it stays for number of downloding , so I can made publication which can by downloaded only 250 times or
2 it stays for number of publications which can be downloaded any times?
Answer for that will be very helpfull for me to establish new part of my work, so please let me know how it is exactly.
    best regards,
    Marcin

So dis means even if I publish three different folio or multi folio applications, I have 250 free downloads , any other downloads is deducted from my bundle. Yes
Additional question, this bundle is monthly charged or by the number of downloads. I mean that if i fave monthly subscription of DPS and i buy bundle, this bundle will be walid only thru that month or as long as my downloads will be exhausted?
Folio Bundle that you purchase separately does not expire monthly, Additional folio downloads after 250 downloads per month would be deducted from your total folio bundle balance. They will expire once they are consumed.
And how dis is corelated with different AdobeID? On Adobe help page is sugestion to use different ID for different publication? How it is corelated with my bundle?
Yes, differrent Application id for each multi folio app. It doesn't matter which id, the bundle is associated with your main dps account and folio download from any account would be deducted from your folio balance.

  • DPS versions

Not sure if im still on the loop but as far as i know there's a single, pro, and enterprise subscriptions of DPS.   However, I was advised by a vendor that single and pro will no longer be offered soon specifically by next month.
I also noticed on the adobe pages that Enterprise is being promoted and infos and comparison about single and pro is nowhere to be found.
Can someone enlighten us please?  Thanks

You can set up an account at digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome/ using whatever email/username/password the client would like.  When firing up DPS, you login to the Folio Builder using those credentials then build your folio accordingly.
For the next client, repeat the process using a different email/username/password.
I would also recommend having your own acrobat.com account for testing purposes then, when the folio is complete and good to go, just recreate the entire folio in the proper client account.
I'd definitely get with the client and see how they'd like to proceed.  Contrary to other advice, with using the Adobe Content Viewer method the size of your viewship is meaningless.  Doesn't matter if there's 10 or 1000 people logging in and using the folio via the Content Viewer - it works the same way. There's no download or signup limit that I'm aware of.. With an Enterprise account, there's a far greater level of control and security that a corporation would appreciate - including distribution.  If there's an enterprise account, the IT group can set up provisional profiles that go out to pre-approved devices (iPad, iPhone, Android), and then the users can download.  Much better control and I believe that IT could also immediately revoke permissions if necessary.  With the Content Viewer method, once it's out there...it's out there.  No way to pull it from individual devices.  You'd have to delete the entire folio in the Builder...but then everyone loses it the next time they login to the Content Viewer app.

  • Unable to login any user id first time in the Adobe content viewer (R25)

    Hi,
I am using R25 Adobe content viewer. The problem is that I am unable to login any user id first time. when I do 2nd time with same id then it do successfully. Please suggest.
    DC Pub

This is a known issue with the v25 Adobe Content Viewer. It is fixed with the v26 version, which is currently awaiting approval from Apple. If you have a Pro or Enterprise subscription to DPS, you can build a custom Adobe Content Viewer.
