Substitute for M-Audio Revolution 7.1

Hello-I'm planning on purchasing a new 24" 2.8 GHz iMac; one problem I think I'm going to have is somehow connecting the new machine to my Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 speakers. I presently use an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 in my old G4 to hook up to this speaker system; works great.
Is there an external box of some kind (other than a home theater receiver and lots of adapters) that will allow me to connect the iMac's digital out mini jack to this speaker set? (It has the traditional three 1/8" cables, to hook up (1) front R/L, (2) surround R/L, and (3) subwoofer).
I may have to use an audio receiver to do this; but perhaps there's an interface available that I don't know about . . .thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well, I guess I can now answer my own question; I've discovered the Griffin FireWave, a single box with FireWire 400 in (and a 2nd FW400 pass-through jack), and 5.1 audio out, via the 3 1/8" stereo jacks that will connect to my speaker set.
Picked one up on eBay for $60.00. No AC wall wart, either; it supposedly gets enough power from the FW port. I'll post on how well it works once I get it hooked up.

  • Having sound distortions in games with M-Audio Revolution 7.1

    I'm having sound distortion problems with a couple of games. I think this started a few OS X updates ago, but not sure which one. Two known games are Quake 3 and Quake 4. When I run either of them, the sound is deep and distorted.
    I'm sure an update of OS X broke m-audio's revolution driver. I currently have driver version 1.4.1. I only have distortions when sending sound output to my sound card. Sound sent to internal speaker comes out fine. I also tried with a freshly created user and freshly reinstalled driver & prefs. Same problem.
    I've tried M-Audio's site with no luck for solutions. It's been a year or so since they have updated it.
    Is anyone else having similar experiences with their M-Audio Revolutions?

  • M-Audio Revolution 7.1 PCI Static in speakers

    I have a Blue and White Power Mac G3 with the DayStar 600 mhz G4 processor upgrade, M-Audio Revolution 7.1 surroundsound PCI card and Creative Labs Inspire 7.1 surroundsound speakers and I'm running OS X 10.4.4. My speakers sound fine in stereo only mode but the minute I turn on the surroundsound I get this nasty cracking type of static in the speakers. The surroundsound works and they sound good inbetween the cracking but the cracking just won't go away. I've had these speakers and sound card and processor for about a year or so now and they've been doing this the whole time. I download every driver update that comes along hoping that each one will be the one that fixes the problem but no such luck. Has anybody else out there had this problem? Or had this configuration with no problem? Or better yet, had the problem and found the solution?

  • Substitute for filters in SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards

    Dear all,
    I am working on a dashboard application built on SAP Business Objects Dashboards 4.1.
    When I deployed the application to an iPad, I realized that the filters present in the application are not supported by iPad.
    Thus, is there any mobile-compatible component in SAP BO Dashboards which I can use in place of filrters for filtering the result during runtime?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks And Regards,
    Nalin Dwivedi

    In combo box, all I can do is select some values from one or more rows or cells in the excel and paste it to some other destination within excel. But my whole dashboard is query-based i.e. I have created query and my charts are getting the data directly from database during runtime. Thus, the query prompt selectors I have used are directly manipulating the data coming from the database.
    Since query prompt selector are not supported in mobile mode, I need a substitute for it.
    Combo box is not able to help till now because the values of combo box can not manipulate the data coming from database. Moreover, I am not sure if I have used the combo box properly.
    If there is any way by which it can be done with using mobile-compatible components, then please suggest me about it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Nalin

  • My solution for No Audio -- Conexant drivers and Windows 7 x64

    My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
    First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/ About half way down you will find the sub-directory with these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.
    Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
    W764HB=OEM
    W764HP=OEM
    W764PR=OEM
    W764UL=OEM
    ( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
    I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
    SysId3=0x3091
    SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
    SysId4=0x3096
    SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series
    SysId5=0x3097
    SysName5=Compaq Presario M2000 series

    SysName7=Compaq Presario M2000 series
    SysId8=0x3093
    SysName8=HP Special Edition L2000 series
    I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
    After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
    I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
    Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then" Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then Conexant, then "Have Disk" . Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.

    The use of the cva file is to streamline the driver install and it is kind of cool if it works. If you cannot find it or you are not successful the first time or you do not want to bother with modding anything, do not worry, the manual install will work for sure.
    Run sp35558.exe to extract everything and let it strike out. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver manually as follows:

  • Can airport express be used for all audio from my ibook?

    I want to be able to route all of my computer audio to the airport express station conected to my stereo. This would come in handy when I want to watch DVD's on my laptop in my dorm room.
    Airport Express   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Yes, you can with with Airfoil.
    However, for watching DVDs, you'll want to use VLC in concert with Airfoil so that you can compensate for the audio delay that will occur otherwise. Open Airfoil and select VLC as the app whose audio should go to the Express. Click on the little button next to the speaker name and VLC will automatically open.
    Then open the VLC preferences, select Audio in the list, and click on the Advanced checkbox at the bottom of the preferences window. Enter a negative number of milliseconds in the "Audio desynchronization compensation" field to advance the audio ahead of the video, which will offset the audio delay. Start with -3000 (3 seconds) and you'll probably have to tweak it from there. Then open the DVD in VLC and start it playing.
    Yes, this is a pain in the butt, but it's the nature of streaming audio: the audio stream must be prebuffered for a few seconds to keep variations in the data transfer rate from interrupting the audio.

    Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
    Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
    iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
    iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)

  • What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following end points are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?

    Hi All,
    What are the ports required for the Audio, Video and A/V conferencing when the following clients are enabled for QoS in Lync 2013 server?
    Client Type
    Port range  and Protocol required for Audio
    Port range and Protocol required for
    Video
    Port range and Protocol required for
    A/Vconferencing
    Windows Desktop   Client
    Windows mobile App
    Iphone
    Ipad
    Andriod phone
    Andriod Tablet
    MAC desktop client
    Please advise. Many Thanks.

    Out of the box, 1024-65535 for all of the client ports.  :)
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398833.aspx
    You'll want to tune your client ports a bit
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204760.aspx as seen here, and then the client ports would use those ranges which is easier to set QoS markings.  I'm not sure the mobile clients respect that setting.
    Elan's got the best writeup for Windows clients here:
    http://www.shudnow.net/2013/02/16/enabling-qos-for-lync-server-2013-and-various-clients-part-1/
    However, the marking of the packets is the tricky part.  Windows can do it via Group Policy, but for the other clients you'll need to have the network specifically prioritize ports regardless of DSCP markings.  You have to do it based on ports
    as the traffic could be peer to peer.

    Can I open .pmd files in indesign? And how? Since indesign is a "substitute" for PageMaker it should/must be possible, but I don't know how to do it

    CS6 was the last version capable of opening Pagemaker files. It's included with Cloud subscriptions, so if you don't have it installed (or an earlier version) you can download it from your cloud subscription.
    To open them you use File > Open..., but the quality of conversion can range between nearly perfect and total garbage, depending on the PM file and the status of links (unembed images before trying to convert).

  • Can I use a substitute for the Sample Clock?

    I have three different analog inputs coming from one device (PCI-6221).  Two inputs are running at the same sample rate while the third needs a faster sample rate and a trigger.  I have these seperated as two seperate tasks but my problem is they both use the sample clock.  Can I use a substitute for the sample clock on the third channel?
    I am running LabVIEW 8.2 on Windows XP.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ron Deavers, CLD

    Hi programmindragon,
    I understand you are trying to
    configure your PCI-6221 to sample on multiple channels, while having
    different rates and triggers for the channels. Unfortunately, you can
    only configure one analog input task to run at once and all the channels in
    the task must share the same configurations, including the sample clock
    and trigger. This is due to the fact that all the channels are
    multiplexed to a single amplifier and ADC on the device. Thus, you will
    not be able to configure the two inputs at one rate and use a different
    clock rate and trigger for the third input. Is it possible to sample at the
    maximum rate on all channels and decimate the data that you don't need on the certain
    channels, as well as share the same type of triggering? Hopefully you will be able to run your application with the same configuration across multiple channels, otherwise you may need multiple DAQ devices. Please let me know if you have any further questions related to this issue.

  • Is there any substitute for book publication?

    We are currently running BPC Microsoft version and considering migrating to the Netweaver platform.  I understand the Book Publication Wizard is not available in Netweaver.  We use this feature to generate lengthy reports and losing it would make reporting a very difficult process.  Does anyone know of a workaround or substitute for Book Publication?

    Hi Barb,
    You are correct it won't generate PDF's.
    Are you considering going to BPC 7.5 NW? If so there are some workarounds that could be leveraged but they are not ideal.
    For example if you have Crystal Reports as well, you can use the integration to pull your BPC data into a formatted Crystal Report and use the PDF scheduling to generate your "books" in that way.
    Otherwise as Jeff mentioned you would have to leverage the Distributor and Collector and print to pdf via some type of task scheduler job but this  would require you have either Adobe Professional or some PDF generator like PDF XChange.
    Cheers, Scott
