Substituting a still image for FLV

I have FMS2, profile 1, limited to 150 concurrent license
connections.
Question: if user number 151 hits the web page, my video box
will not display the FLV because of concurrent connection limits.
Is there a way to substitute a still image to replace the FLV if
more than 150 concurrect connections are made?

hi,
The answer is yes & no, you cannot show an image directly
in the video object, but you can place an image in a layer above
the video object, you could do this dynamically when the
netconnection is rejected by the server.

  • How do I play a video on a still image - for example - a video playing on a TV screen in a still living room image?

    Hi All,
I am just starting to work with video and image and have a question - probably something quite easy but I can't seem to find any tutorials to show me how.
Basically I want to have a video playing on a still image - for example a tv screen in a living room.
I am currently struggling to find out how to resize the video to the exact angle of the screen. I can get it playing but at the dimensions of the original video but can't seem to find out how to adjust the video to be sized at the angle the tv is sat at?
    Any help would be appreciated.

An Opacity Mask plus Corner Pin is what I would use.
I like when an "insert" comes from behind the matte... and also ....this way allows feathering of the edges.

  • Proportions of Still Images for HD

A while back I asked on this forum the correct ratio/size to do still images for import into FCE.
It was suggested to me to use 1440 x 1080 (and I also see this in the FCE export ( 1440 x 1080 16:9) so that is what I designed my Photoshop images to be. But when I brought them into FCE they were stretched.
Should I have designed them to 1280 x 720 instead?
    Soud
    PS: So why does it give 3 (when exporting a FCE file) settings for "Using Quicktime Conversion" HD 1280 x 720 16:9, HD 14440 x 1080 16:9 and HD 1920 x 1080 16:9?

What format is the sequence you're working in? If it's 1080 make the image 1920x1080. If it's 720 make it 1280x720.

  • Create a still image for a minute within video

Is it possible to havet he final frame of a clip stay 'on' for a minute - and then proceed to the next sequence? I'm not sure freeze frame is the accurate term - obviously I'm very new - this is my first project. The video will be a total of 6 minutes. After 2 minutes, I need to have a still image for 1 minute before proceeding to remainder of video. If this is possible, any help re how? Thanx

  • Changing Displayed Still Images for Podcasts

I just got iWeb up and running today. Everything is working great, except I can't figure out how to change the default thumbnail images that are assigned when I add new video files to my Podcast page.
Several of my video files start with a black frame and fade in, which is causing iWeb to display a black image for the Podcast on the Entries page. Is there an easy way to change this image without re-editing my videos?
I've searched the help menus and the discussion posts here. I was hoping that changing the associated artwork in GarageBand would fix this. I figured out how to add an image and resize it, but when I brought my video file in, the image I had edited added just disappeared and was replaced by a marker symbol.
I know the quick fix in DVD Studio Pro: open the inspector for the button, uncheck "motion", and set the little timeline to the frame you wish to use. Please help!
My other idea is to try to configure a links page for the videos myself, so that I can control the image used and just add a hyperlink. Suggestions?

I had the same problem and looked all over as well. I
ended up reopening my video clips in Final Cut..
adding one frame at the start of my still frame and
then rerendered it out to iweb. it works.. shows up
in the itunes store as well.
I can try that, but that ruins the fade in from black effect. I'm hoping there is an easier way. If not, maybe future versions...

  • What PS file settings are used for still images for FCE?

I have images to use/create for the titles and transitions in my first FCE4 project. Using Photoshop CS6, the preset for File > New > Film & Video has the prest size and pixel aspect ratio selections.  I thought to use this with HDV 1080p/29.97 and HDV1080/DVCPRO HD 720 (1.33) for any images I need for the project.
Most discussions I see only refer to the pixel size reference for HD image sizes, but nothing addressing the pixel aspect ratio setting for the image.  Are these settings ignored in PS and handled in FCE only? Or does it make better quality images to get this "right" in PS when creating the still image?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. In an ideal world, the graphic material you build in PS should match the sequence settings you intend to edit them into - so, if for no other reason, it reduces the amount of reformatting FCE has to do when rendering them.
But frequently you want to build graphics larger than the frame size of the sequence so that you can re-size and reposition the graphic within FCE without losing quality.
The apparent pixel aspect ratio of your graphic can be controlled with FCE by editing the graphic to the timeline, double clicking on the clip in the timeline, and when that timeline clip opens in the viewer, click on the motion tab and adjust the Aspect Ratio Paddle (this is the correction for a 1920 x1080 square pixel clip being placed into an HDV 1440 x 1080 timeline):
In Photoshop, you can change the way your work is displayed by going to the menu View > Pixel Aspect Ratio:
    Does any of this help?

  • Need basic "How To" for encoding still images for SD DVD slideshow

I recently purchased FCS2 and am not very computer savvy. I'm trying to create slideshows in DVD Studio Pro that are standard definition (so they can be played in most players), but are still excellent quality. The images I'm using are high resolution, professionally edited photos (with Adobe CS3 Elements). Once I burn it to a disk the image quality is very poor and after some trouble shooting I think I found my problem, the files are being resized automatically to fit with DVDSP and are losing quality. Can someone give me the quick "how to" with compressor to change my images to the correct settings? I've been reading and watching tutorials, but they all seem to focus more on video than still images. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When the final DVD plays on a computer or TV screen, the photo images in the titles are fuzzy even though they were clear 300 dpi images. (I know dpi doesn't matter in video). The title text is also a bit fuzzy and the title text that has animation applied to it is even more fuzzy. Yet the old MPEG video clips look fine - it's just my title graphics and text that look bad (embarrasing).
Remember that DVD-Video was designed for CRT TV sets, and was a major step up from VHS tape. However, when viewed on an HD computer monitor, or HD TV *, it is still ONLY 720 x 480, with is about 1/4 of the resolution as 1920 x 1080, which is about what we are used to seeing on those display devices. That is but only 25% of the quality. It can never look as good as HD material.
Good luck, and if I missed something, please point that out to me.

    * With the advent of BD players, and up-rezzing DVD players, things HAVE improved, when viewing a DVD-Video on an HD TV. The newer players have up-rezzing chips, that do a very good job of "improving" the viewed material's quality. However, even with those amazing chips, DVD-Video will NEVER be as good as a full-HD source. Also, computers do not have those up-rezzing chips, so when one views a DVD-Video on a high-rez computer monitor, it will still look pretty bad. There ARE a couple of new DVD software players, that improve the quality of DVD-Video played on a high-rez computer monitor, and a few look fairly promising. I speculate that we will see some more development in the DVD-Video area, especially as BD is not proving to be the big seller, that many promised. Even 3D is not helping BD realize its promise.

  • Render Quality of still images for Blu Ray?

    Hello,
can anyone help me on how to control the quality of still images beeing rendered within Encore?
Transcoding is for film only and on my full HD Blu Ray it seems, that still images or diashows are
rendered in SD quality at best.
    Any hints appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Guenter

Hello and thanks for the quick replies and especially the welcome greetings.....
The images do match the resolution of the videos, they are all 1920x1080.
I created the images with Photoshop and next to JPG I also tried the PSD,
    but it made to difference.
They are not part of the videos, they are just pictures I've included using
the diashow function within Encore. There is no transcode menu available
for single images nor the diashow.
The default transcode settings - which are used for video only afaik - are
    also full hd, full quality.
    Any other ideas?
    Cheers,

  • Sizing of still images for use in Premiere Pro editing.

I use Premiere Pro 5.5. I use format: AVCHD 1080i25(50i) Anamorphic for my editing (I have a Canon Legria Camera). My current stills are resized to 800x 600. When I insert in to the sequence and play it, they fall outside the safety margins. I read the Adobe help notes on this topic and resized (if memory serves 32000x32000 was mentioned) This didn't work. I also tried 2200x 1200 but this still fell out of the safety margin. Even toggling the still in the timeline didn't work. Any advice on sizing? Many thanks

I agree with Ann. This ARTICLE goes into more detail on Scaling Still Images, and shows how to Automate to Batch w/ Actions in Photoshop, and also in Photoshop Elements. One can do an entire folder full of images in but moments.
Note: the article was done, when SD was the common Project, i.e. before HD gained popularity. Disregard the Frame Sizes in the early parts, as those pixel x pixel dimensions are for SD. Discussions on HD Projects follows pretty closely, as will some discussion by Todd Kopriva, on how things changed in PrPro, as of CS 5.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7 - Selecting Multiple Still Images for Time Stretch

    Hi,
I have Adobe Premiere Elemetns 7. I would like to be able to select multiple still images on the timeline so that I can timestretch them all at the same time.
I understand that you can do this when you drag the photos over to the sceneline, then get the dialog box that asks for the time duration or transition duration. I would like to do this after they have been placed on the timeline though.
I would like to put say an hour of music on the music line, then drag over say 400 photos, then timestretch the photos such that thier time matches the music timeline. Smartsound does not seem to find the music on my computer to do this, I would like to use my own music.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Tonight why don't you download the free 30 tryout of Premiere Elements 8, check out the feature of interest in particular, and determine if it is worth it. Check out it's stability in your computer environment. You do not have to uninstall Premiere Elements 7. When you install Premiere Elements 8, the installation process detects prior versions and tells you that you do not have to uninstall them, just use one at a time.
Depending on how things go, get on the phone to Adobe Customer Service Monday morning and be pleasant but determined, express your need for the new feature(s), and request an exchange, the new for the old. As a last resort, request your money back for version 7.
Please update us on your progress. But, in the back of your mind, keep the old thought of "be careful what you wish for". You may win one with the duration feature but lose some ground with stability and other features.

  • Which color space to save still images for FCP?

When saving still images as TIFF files to be brought into FCP, what color space should the files be saved in? The Adobe color space or SRGB, or other?
    Thanks.

sRGB/JPEG is the best because all the color information is encoded in the actual image when you create a JPEG, as JPEGs don't carry color space information with them, like .PSD and .TIFF do.
As for sRGB, that is as close as there is to a universal color space for monitors, and you are least likely to find a surprise when you check across many monitors. The tradeoff is a reduced color gamut if you display on a well calibrated broad gamut monitor.
The gamma matters all the way through, if you want what you see in Photoshop to match what you see on a calibrated display monitor. The newest Photoshop, and Lightroom, use a native gamma of 2.2, which matches all video displays (not computer displays). If you generate JPEGs from them, they will have a gamma of 2.2. You then need to import them into FCP with a gamma of 2.2 for the interpretation. If you go directly to DVD from there, all is fine. If you go to a Quicktime movie, you need to know what the codec you plan to use will do. ProRes maintains the existing gamma, H.264 lightens up to 1.8, as does animation. I haven't characterized the others.

  • How to place a still image for Flash Player for a website

    Hello,
I have CS3 suite and am using Dreamweaver and Flash for a new project.  I am working on a website and would like to have small flash movies on several different pages.  I would like to know how to get a still image in flash player before the user clicks the movie so that they will not see a black box on the pages before and after they click the movie.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi, You can go to this test site to see if you have Flash Player Installed on your 10.6.5 Mac.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Then this link has info on how to Uninstall Flash Player (if needed) and Install the latest version. It is a step by step.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html
After reading that info and you just need to Install, then this link would be easier:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Flash Player is a browser plugin and as long as your browser is supported by Adobe Flash Player, then you shouldn't have any problem.
    Hope that helps,

  • Best setting for using still images for 16:9 format

When using still images in FCP, what is the best setting to keep the images from stretching or warping when exported to be shown on a 16:9 format?

Put them in a 16:9 sequence (is there any other way?) If they are distorted upon import, you can change their distort settings under "Distort" in the Motion tab of the Viewer. 33.33 is a good number to start with.

  • FCE 4 for slideshows with still images only

I recently put together a slideshow in FCE 4 from my still photographs. The show looks great when I run the original file. But the DVD I created looks awful. Is there a special way to size the still images for better quality. I sized them the way we do at camera club for our digital projector (1024 X 768, resolution 100).
    Thanks.
    Barb

Unfortunately, Tom, the slideshow capabilities in iPhoto are not sophisticated enough. I need to be able to "choreograph" the images with a musical selection. I like the marker features in FCE so I can easily time out the musical selection and place the transitions where I need them before I even import my images. I also like the ability to play with the audio, for example, trimming and fading out a piece of music that may be a tad long; or starting a selection of music after a title slide has been on the screen. I kind of need the type of editing one does with film but using still images. If only Apple would combine some of the features of Final Cut Express with a program like iPhoto that handles the still image resolution. Any possibility of that happening?

  • Flicker problem with still images

I have a series of still images in my timeline. There is a red garment in each of these images and it is producing a moray effect on the red garment. I also keyframed some of the still images for movement and it makes the problem worse. Is there a filter or some other trick I can use to get ride of the moray problem?
    Thanks.

Thanks Al and sorry for the misspelling, however, the original still image does not have a moire problem, it is only when I import it to FCE and I keyframe a panning movement to the image that I get the moire effect which is very distracting. Do you know of any tricks within FCE that may help remove or reduce this effect?
    Thanks.
