Substitution Variable Issue while exporting from Essbase.sec file

Hello All,
I have an unusually distinct problem.
I have 2 environments (Development and Production) where each environment has a seperate server with Essbase installed in it.
When I tried to get information of the Substitution variables using the 'export security_file to data_file' command through MaxL and then checked the output file in Development, it showed me the right number of substitution variables and their values.
But when I did he same with my Production environment it gives exactly 1 less no of substitution variables in the export file, specifically the last substitution variable that was updated through the Essbase Administration Console.
I guess it is not updating the Essbase.sec file with the last updated Substitution variable. But I can't understand why since the same functionality works in development but not in production.

In addition, I exported the Essbase.sec file after a long time after changing the Substitution variable and now it does show the updated substitution variable.
I feel that Essbase does refresh the Essbase.sec file but after a long time. Is there some setting within Essbase that is done which refreshes the artifact files after a while. Or is this a setting within the system in which Essbase has been installed (in my case Linux).
Also the Substitution Variable that has been created is for (all apps) and (all dbs). Is this the reason why this is not working because I tried changing some other Substitution variable which is for a specific app and a specific dbs and it worked fine.

If you remove the substitution variable and replace it with the actual value (whatever that is), does the code work? That will tell you if the issue is around the substitution variable or not.

Issue while exporting report in PDF using crystal report XI

Hello,
I am facing issue while exporting a report to PDF through crystal report XI. Reports are generating properly in the crystal report browser but when I am exporting the reports in PDF or trying to get print by clicking on print button, reports not generating properly.
Allignment in the exported PDF reports getting changed and reports margin is also changes. Due to this some part of report is chopped and printed on the next page.
I have deployed my application on IBM WebSphere 6.1 server and I am getting following error which might help to identify this issue.

The stack trace is caused by whitespace in your CrystalReportViewer.jsp file. Look up SAP Note 1199025 for the resolution.
It's not related to the PDF formatting issue. There's been changes to the formatting with the most recent version - Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 - so if you haven't already, I recommend you upgrade.
Note that there's differences in font metric calculation when using Adobe PDF format such that there's no way to get exact agreement between output of the CR and PDF. But the latest version helps greatly.

"Rough" GIF export from ActionScript 3 files impossible?

I just upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5, and I've been playing with the various new features. However, I've just encountered an odd problem that I can't seem to find a solution to.
In the past, I've made animated GIFs in CS3 by exporting them with the "Smooth" box unchecked. This was really convenient for me because not only could I export crisp pixel bitmaps from Flash, but I could edit it in another program later. I was planning on making some GIF animations via this process with the aid of the bone tool in CS4 and 5.
When I tried exporting frames of of a figure created with the bone tool in CS5, however, I got images that were fuzzy and often had distorted colors. After some time, I realized that this was because in CS3, I had exported the images from ActionScript 2 files, while the bone tool only works in ActionScript 3 files.
Is it not possible to export "rough" GIFs from ActionScript 3 files, or is there a trick to doing that that I'm somehow missing?

I'm sorry for not making it clear in my initial post, but it doesn't matter whether I create an image using the bone tool or not -- any GIF image exported from an AS3 file always has an antialiased appearance, even when the Smooth box is unchecked.
To show you what I mean, here's a simple GIF image I exported from an AS2 file:
Notice that all of the lines are simple and pixellated, with no antialiasing at all. This is the kind of GIF I want to export from an AS3 file.
Now here's the exact same image I exported from an AS3 file, with the exact same export settings:
As you can see, all of the lines look smoothed, even though I made sure the Smooth box was unchecked.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

What is the procedure to re-create Essbase.sec file in Essbase 11.1.2.0 environment.... In older versions it was used to delete Essbase.sec, start Essbase server and it was recreated an empty essbase.sec file.. But in 11.1.2.0 with Shared services...was is the procedure ? If it is deleted the essbase.sec file...starting Essbase Service will re-create and will update informantion from Shared Services ?

Ok...it solves the start of Essbase Server..
After that I'd like to re-create the applications... so.. I'll rename the folder of application, so it will be possible to re.create on disk and empty application with the same application/database name...
But what will happen with the information present in Shared Services?
If I'll try to recreate the application and if in Shared serveces registry i present the name of application what will happen ? Because after the start of Essbase Server it will be no correspondence between Essbase applications present in Shared services registry and Essbase applications present in Essbase.sec file....
any idea?

The easiest way to do it is to
1. Stop Essbase
2. delete or rename the Essbase.sec file located in the arborpath\bin directory
3. From the bin directory, start Essbase.exe (double click on it)
4. Enter the userid, password and company info as it asks for it. Note although it asks for your user Id, it wants the ID you want to be the system Admin ID
5. stop the foreground version(optional)
6. restart it as a service(optional)
If you want to reassociate applications to the security file so it can see them. In EAS do a create application with the same name as an existing one Like Sample. IT will see that the application already exists and add it to the security file.

I am using EPM 11.1.2.2. I wanted to migrate groups, roles and provisions from dev to uat env. Can you please let me know the best possible option. Also can you please let me know what essbase.sec file contains? Can i move essbase.sec from dev to uat.

ESSBASE.SEC file growing 8MB a day.

Is it normal for the .SEC file to grow like this? I'm guessing it has become corrupted but I don't have a backup of before it started to grow like this. If it is corrupted how do I go about recreating a new .SEC file, is there anyway to extract user/application info from the current one? We are using V7.1.3

We have both native and external authentication set up. The server gets rebooted on a weekly basis which is what alerted me to the Essbase.SEC file growth. A problem occurred on the weekend where the Essbase service would not start due to a Corrupt .SEC file (which was roughly 250meg at the time). We resolved this by restoring a .SEC file from a month ago (100meg). Should the security file be swelling to this size? I find it odd as the file on our Dev server is only 12meg and am curious as to what is causing the one on prod to grow.

By default, the columns in the destination flat file will be non-Unicode columns, e.g. the data type of the columns will be DT_STR. If you want to keep the original DT_WSTR data type of the input column when outputting to the destination file, you can check
the Unicode option on the “Choose a Destination” page of the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Then, on the “Configure Flat File Destination” page, you can click the Edit Mappings…“ button to check the data types. Please see the screenshot:

Think its obvious you can use substitution variable as a Header definition on Load rules, does version 11.1.1.3 has any issues' with it, i am running into Unexpected Essbase error 1019026.

I want to copy Actual data into other scenario's in ASO cube so thought will use substitution variables to eliminate duplication on load rules.
Mgmt Actual is a scenario set thru Substitution variable at the DB level
i.e *&CurScen="Mgmt Actual" (set at DB level)*
Header Definition on load rule *&CurScen,"Base","No Vertical","No Customer"*
Data load work fine If i replace substitution variable with original member *"Mgmt Actual","Base","No Vertical","No Customer"*.
I did notice some users complaining erratic behavior when substitution variables are placed in load rule header at the End on multiple members, i have tried all places End, First and Middle.
tried using single Load rule with EAS and MAXl same results.
i want to keep altering scenarios on header definition and use same rule files.
alter database AppName.DbName set variable CurScen '"Mgmt Actual"';
Running out of ideas any help!

Possible Problems
Analytic Services does not recognize the listed string as a member of the outline.
Possible Solutions
Make sure that the member name is valid. The member name is in the rules file.
* Are you using the correct rules file?
* Is the rules file connected to the correct outline?
* Can you validate the rules file?
* Are member names or variable names enclosed in quotation marks where necessary?
* Does the member exist in the outline? If not, you can add the member by modifying the outline during the dimension build or add the member in the Outline Editor.
* Make sure that the member is not specified as a header in the rules file.

I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
First approach we are using is:

Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
               reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.

Issue while exporting report - OBIEE 11g - IIS 7.5

We are currently on OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 version of OBIEE and we have set up proxy through IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 server.
While exporting our reports, we need to ensure that both Export to excel options (2003 and 2007+) are working fine. However, for some reports, when we try to download the reports to Excel 2007+ format, we get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error message. This issue does not appear if we change the URL to directly access Weblogic server (instead of routing through IIS). Wanted to know if anyone have faced similar issue and have found any solution/workaround for same.
