Subtitles in Quicktime Pro not sub but above-titles

I rigorously followed the instructions to add subtitles via Quicktime Pro, using a text-file etc.
All seems to work but the "subtitles" appear above the movie...
A blogger referred met to Quicktime instructions mentioning tags and other terms.
I'm a complete ignoramous in this field.
Could anyone give me specific and idiot-proof directions to get my subtitles really sub the movie, plaese?

Open the Movie properties window and single click on the "text" track.
Click the Visual Settings tab to adjust the "offset" values to position the text below the video track.

  • Quicktime pro not loading/working

I purchased the key for quicktime pro, upgraded to qt7, entered my registration key and it shows pro in the box, but the box does not seem to go away, and then the pro options in the program don't allow me to press? I don't seem to have the pro version? Help

I pasted the number in and kicked out "invalid" unti I deleted the last letter and re-entered (I thought maybe there was a trailing space or something, maybe there was).
And my number is the same as on Mac OS side and couple years old (since QT 7 came out).

  • Quicktime Pro not unlocked

I upgraded to Snow Leopard and have the latest version. This left me with two versions of Quicktime (7.6.3 and 10.0) which I have in the Applications folder. I then installed Logic Studio and, according to the manual, expected the installation process to unlock the multimedia capabilities of Quicktime Pro but I do not see the Pro version anywhere. Subsequent updating to Logic pro 9.1.0 (32 bit) made no difference.
Is this a compatibility problem with Snow Leopard or should I have left Quicktime 7 in the Utilities folder? Any ideas on how I can unlock the Pro features easily - or do I need to reinstall from scratch?
    Any help appreciated, thanks

Ahh, don't even get me started on the Quicktime debacle with SL...
If you already had a QT pro key, you should still have it authorised. But you'll never 'see' any of the pro features (for now) in the new standard QT player that launches, even if you have them. You really do have to dig down into the utilities folder and use the old QT7 app. Or are you saying that even when you do launch that app, you still have the 'pro' features blocked?
In my case, I already had a key for QT pro, so it still all just works (albeit more clumsily) now. I wasn't aware that you are supposed have all the pro features unblocked as part of having purchased Logic. If this is the case, you should prob just call Apple support and tell them what happened. Maybe if you give them proof of purchase, a serial number or something, they'll give you an unlock key to sort out the problem.
Basically it's all because they are currently migrating all the QT code to a brand new framework, which currently is pretty bare. So they left QT7 with all the pro features behind as a courtesy, before the new Quicktime X is more feature-rich. Arstechnica did a very detailed explanation of this if you want to read more. In the meantime, it's a fairly annoying compromise situation.

  • QuickTime Pro not recognized after having to reinstall

I have my registration code, but I cannot register the copy as QUicktime Pro after having to UNinstall quicktime during the lastest iTunes update process. (I followed directions on apple.com how to correct an issue with my "audio configuration" which stated I had to uninstall Quicktime, then reinstall.) THis solution made a complete deletion of the registry code on my hard drive. I avhe the code - I want to have my QuickTime PRO back.
    HELP!
    Thanks!

Premiere is an Adobe application and is supported in their forums.
    Good luck.

  • I love QuickTime Pro very much, but the manual seems incorrect

In version 7.3 User's Guide, the Keyboard shortcuts were wrong!
All you need to know some crucial Keyboard Shortcuts are just :
I : Move In Marker to playhead location
O : Move Out Marker to playhead location
Option-Right Arrow : Go to the Out Marker (Click Right Arrow again to the end)
Option-Left Arrow : Go to the In Marker (Click Left Arrow again to the beginning)
Extend selection to the left : Shift-Left Arrow ( NOT Option-Shift-Left Arrow)
Extend selection to the right : Shift-Right Arrow ( NOT Option-Shift-Right Arrow)
    Play movie backward : Command-Left Arrow ( NOT Shift-double-click Command-Left Arrow )
Just here to let you people know.
Oh, I love QuickTime Pro, yeah~

About register tab, how do I lock up my info? So kids won't accidently erase my register number and sometimes it's quite annoyed that you can't secured your register number by locking them up. Because there are kids from neighbors use my Mac sometimes.
Any solution? Why Apple let the register tab open to change anyway?

  • Update to Quicktime Pro not working

Just bought the Quicktime Pro license key from the Apple Store. When I input my name and the key and click "Apply", a label states "QuickTime 7 Pro". However, this information seems not to persist: After closing the registration window and re-opening the same window later, it states "Buy Quicktime Pro...". All the menus still contain the "Pro" label and I am unable to save any movie.
I uninstalled Quicktime and re-installed it with a fresh download from the Apple site. To no avail.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong here?

My user account belongs to the local Administrators group. Nevertheless, I tried to use the function "Run as Administrator" function to make sure, Vista really runs Quicktime with all privileges. Did not work.
For the second time, I uninstalled the software, then I deleted manually the folder C:\program files\ (since QT Uninstall leaves tons of files there - no wonder I can't get past the problem).
I rebooted the system and downloaded the setup files again. Ran the installer "as administrator". Ran Quicktime Pro as Administrator. It still doesn't remember the Pro functions after having unlocked that functionality using the key obtained from Apple.
At this level, I have to give up. I spent two afternoons on this and I need to get things done. It's probably not a QT Pro problem and I might need to restage my computer in the future (I upgraded XP Pro to Vista Ultimate - instead of doing a fresh installation). However, since QT Pro is so far the only software giving me a headache, I am not really feeling the urge to re-install the operating system.
Maybe an upcoming QT release will fix the problem...

  • QuickTime does not start (but right-clicking a file works!)

Lately, when I try to run Quicktime (7.7.3 1680-64) in Windows-7 64-bits, the process begins and it shows in the task bar, but the window doesn't appear (it had been working normally in this PC for two years with no problem).
But if I right-click a video file and select open with Quicktime, it runs OK, and then I can open other files from Quicktime.
I've tried to repair Quicktime, and also I've unistalled Quicktime and reinstalled it, but it keeps failing.
    Any idea?

A QuickTime display preference may have blown up for you.
If that's what is afoot, rebuilding the QuickTime preferences can help, although it can be a bit of a trial to track them down on the 64-bit systems.
Close any of the QuickTime Player buttons that are currently in your taskbar.
Now we need to change some view settings on the PC. (The preferences are kept in hidden folders.)
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
    Click OK.
Next we'll navigate to your AppData folder.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your user documents are stored on.
    Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of the Windows User account in which the QuickTime Player isn't displaying properly.
    Open the "AppData" folder.
Now the hunt for the QuickTime preferences begins.
    Open the "Roaming" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
If there was no QuickTime folder in \Roaming\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "Local" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
If there was no QuickTime folder in \Local\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "LocalLow" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
Any of those measures help with the display problem?

  • Exporting .mov to H264 in Quicktime Pro not working for iPad!

Good morning All, Thanks for your help. When I take video's with my digital camera it records in Quicktime, however I have always had to export the videos with QuicktimePro in the H264 codec for them to transfer to my iPhone. What is happening with the iPad, is that when I export them to that or mp4 it says this movie could not be played on the iPad. The only work around I have found is to hit the advance tab in iTunes and convert it, then drag them out and back into iPhoto (because I want the videos with the event in Photos). Is anyone else having this issue? Any Suggestions? Thanks!!!

Who has similar problems. Who has workarounds.
    Interesting... but wierder and wierder!
Not sure it is much of a workaround, but I just loaded my H.264/AAC M4V Harry Potter 7 file into QT 7 Pro and deleted chapers 2 through 30. While I agree that I cannot currently save the edited data as a standalone file, I could save it as a reference file that is non-compatible with QL under Mavericks. However, if I then open the reference file in QT 7 Pro, I could then use the "Movie to MPEG-4" option to "Pass through" both the audio and the video to create an MP4 file that will open in both QT X v10.3 and QT 7 and is QL compatible.
As to your subler workflow, while the MP4 file I created with subler did not open in QT 7, it did open in QT X v10.3 and the H.264 video track was QL compatible. I suspect the reason the MP4 file won't open in QT 7 and why QL won't play the Photo-JPEG track is that QT 7 and QL consider the secondary video track that is created by Subler to be "out of spec" for the MP4 file container. On the other hand, if I place the H.264/AAC data in an M4V file container, then it opens in both QT 7 and QT X v10.3 and both the H.264 and the Photo-JPEG tracks are QL compatible.
Nice catch on your part as I am still reviewing the QT X v10.3 forced conversions and had not even started looking as Subler. Also do most of my editing before conversion to H.264/AAC/AC3/Chapter output to M4V so it did not dawn on me to try and edit my M4V files. Thanks to your comments have learned that Subler does not like my AC3 DD5.1 audio track (now seems to cause an infinite loop in Subler due to Mavericks reading of AC3 audio track as having a 0 Kbps data rate) and QL now handles multiple video tracks. (Mavericks—one step forward and two steps back as far as QT is concerned.)

  • Windows 7 64 bit and quicktime pro not working

Audio plays, but no video. Any suggestions?

Most likely QuickTime doesn't have a codec for the video. Open the movie, open Movie Inspector (under the Window menu) and post the information on format that should show. Someone should be able to tell you if there's a plugin available for that format, if it's not one QuickTime can handle natively.

  • Quicktime Pro not exporting files correctly

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert a .mov file using QT Pro 7.16 to either DVI, AVI, or MPEG4. The export process starts, but never moves from %0.
I'm running 32 bit Windows Vista on a Dell 8400 3.0 Ghz P4, 2 GB RAM, and 2 10k RPM SATA drives in a RAID0. I think i should have plenty of hardware to push the export, so maybe someting else is wrong?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

File dimensions could be one issue as exports to AVI using DVCPRO would become 720X480 (letterboxed or 16:9).
Movie to QuickTime Movie would allow you to keep the original dimensions but I don't know if the Windows version of Premiere allows those formats.
It may support the Animation codec (very fast compression) but I don't if it knows about H.264 Video.
I don't really have an answer as I don't use Premiere.
