Subtitles on DMP 4305G from EtherDVB DVB-T channel

Hi everyone,
At Deakin Uni we use EtherDVB (www.etherdvb.com) to take public DVB-T channels and multicast them over the network.
To show these on our Cisco 4305G DMPs we essentially have a video playlist with URL in the form udp://multicastipaddress:1234
This generally works well and we have minimal audio/video sync issues.
Using these streams in something like VLC we can get the subtitles that go with the channel, but don't seem to be able to get them to display via the DMP (our firmware ranges from 2.x to 5.1 on the DMP).
Our end goal is to be able to have the television channel shown on the DMP with subtitles, for use in DMP installations with high background noise.
My (limited) research shows this may be something to do with SRT files - ie how the subtitles are broadcast with the audio and video stream in the DVB-T transmission.
Does anyone have any advice on how this may be achieved?

Kathy,
Unfortuately, the DMP does not support embedded streams for Closed Caption or Subtitles
in a multicast stream at this time. If the CC or Subtitles were part of the mulitcast video
stream then the DMP would display them. A possible solution would be looking into
Cisco SA encoders or other encoders where you can add the subtitles or CC to the video
stream itself (using a text file or other formats) before transmitting out to the DMPs.

Problems creating dmp file from script

Hi,
I am running portal 9.0.4.1 on solaris and am trying to create the export dmp file from the downloaded unix script. I use the following command line:
gc.sh -mode export -s portal -p <portal schema password) -c <sid>
I then accept the default dmp file name. However, the following error is then returned:
ld.so.1: exp: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed
This part of the export/ import operation is now complete.
I am then returned to the command prompt, but with no dmp file created and the .out file containing just the word "error".
Any ideas where I'm going wrong????

Your LD_LIBRARY_PATH is most likely not set properly. Try to execute sqlplus from command line and make sure that works. Once you're able to connect to the database via sqlplus from command line, retry the export/import again.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

DMP-4305G questions

Hello everybody,
I have a few problems that i could not solve myself, to be more precise, i have questions about the following:
- When i put the ticker on (as flash 6 or 7), it goes slowly frame by frame, it's not going smooth like it should. Also i have the same problem with the default flash animations from the Designer. Is there something to configure, or something i'm doing wrong?
- How do i use the internal memory, i've done something but i still don't know how to access the internal storage (internal storage> i select read&write), than i go to the browser section and i select

* Just a note the Ticker is slow by nature. From what you described, it appears
the it stutters on occasion as it moves across the screen. What other elements
do you have in your presentation? Create a new DMD presentation with just the
ticker and test to see if symptoms persist.
* Also, you may want to restore the DMP to factory default and reconfigure and
test again.

How do you convert channels.dvb to channels.conf

Title says is all. How do you convert the kaffeine file channels.dvb to a channels.conf file which can be used by mplayer.
The winterhill transmitter in the UK is now totally digital, since the change over I've not been able to get BBC channels properly in mplayer. The receiver is a Freecom DVB-T USB. I've manually edited the uk-WinterHill file with the transmitter info to update it and used it to create a channels.conf file.
scan /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/uk-WinterHill > /home/~/channels.conf
This picked up pretty much all the channels & I can tune into BBC channels but receive no picture. I've googled a bit and it seems other people have this problem too and they think it's a problem due to the increased power of the signal after the change over to digital. I've tried a variable attenuator which did no good.
I've now found that kaffeine can scan for and find the BBC channels AND it can also play them back properly. So the theory about the signal strength being too much for the freecom sticks attenuator is probably a load of guff, at least in my case.
The data for BBC One from the kaffeine channels.dvb is:-

Do you want to capture a single frame of the video as a separate image? You can play the video full screen in QuickTime, pause it at the appropriate frame and take a screenshot using shift-command-3.

MythTV can't find DVB-T channels with HVR-4000. Kaffeine works great.

I just buyed a Hauppauge HVR-4000 for DVB-T (by now, later DVB-S too).
I followed this guides:

The DVB-S is "/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0"
The DVB-T is "/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1"
As wrote here: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Haupp … V-HVR-4000, i made a link from "/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1" to "/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0" so that MythTV can detect my DVB-T decoder (works), but still can't find any channels on DVB-T adapter.
Kaffeine find all existing channels and plays them fine (good image and sound).
I tried analogue TV too with following devices:
/dev/video -> /dev/video0
/dev/v4l/by-path/pci-0000:01:01.0-video-index0
/dev/v4l/by-path/pci-0000:01:01.0-video-index1
but he can't find channels too (TV Time can).
My sys:
Archlinux with Kernel 2.6.30, MythTV 0.21.

did you try to import the channels.conf from "scan /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/whatever > channels.conf" instead let myth scan channels for you.

Shell or perl script from OS command_Sender File Channel

Hi All,
I am trying to execute a perl script from the File Sender Channel(NFS), OS command Before Message Processing. The script works fine if i run it from the shell. But when PI calls the script, the script does not get executed. The audit logs mention that the OS command has been called.
I tried using:
1) /<fullpath>perlScript.pl /<fullpath>filename.dat
2) perl /<fullpath>perlScript.pl /<fullpath>filename.dat
Both these commands work fine when i execute them on the shell.
I am on solaris and PI 7.0. The permission for the perl script and input files are all 777.
FYI.. i am using this perl script to transpose a complex file and make it # delimited file.
I have already read the blogs for OS command and executed some sample scenarios successfully.
I tried to call a shell script that does the same functionality as the perl script. Even that does not work.
Also, wrote a shell script to call the perl script inside it. No luck.
eg:
touch /fullpath>/create_before.dat
perl /<fullpath>perlScript.pl /<fullpath>filename.dat
touch /<fullpath>/create_after.dat
In this case, the create_before.dat and create_after.dat is getting created but the perl is not called. I know this because i cant see the output files of the perl script.

Hi,
The problem is fixed. The shell or perl both have logic to transpose a non industry starndard file to the delimited file which PI can use an FCC to pick up.
This was the fix:
we need to mention the shell the script is going to be run in.
In the shell script we mentioned --> *#!/usr/bin/bash* as the first line
normally, when we use the command -- which bash on the unix command prompt, it tells us the path for the bash used.
another option --> #!/usr/bin/ksh
again, on the command prompt -- which ksh command will tell us what ksh is being used.
If the script is a simple one that does copy or move commands, i believe we need not use the commands above. But is a good practice to have them in the script.

well depending on how your audio is brought into your system you can select it as two streams of mono or a stereo pair. In reality, unless it's mixed in stereo, that's just two streams of mono locked together. Other streams brought in via other means, can have a lot more audio channels, e.g. 8, 16, 24.
In your case, with what you're doing, two separate channels works best, so you can control the levels of two very different audio sources. If, for instance, you were taking the feed from the mixing board during a concert, you might want their stereo out. Otherwise you might be dealing with the 1.2 zillion channels that they're mixing live.
I like separating the tracks coming in. I work with people who prefer to lock them together. Locking means the tracks move together during editing. Ok, fine, but I'm usually dealing with different audio sources, like you are: a camera mic (safety on location) and a close mic (shotgun, lav). Or I have a shotgun source and a lav. I want to determine the best source audio for the shot. Sometimes it's a lav, sometimes a different feed from somewhere else, sometimes the shotgun, and sometimes a mix of two sources. But if they're locked together and pre-set to come out evenly from both speakers there no way for me to make a determination. The other guys like to cut and figure out the audio later.

This Cisco Options Package (COP) file has the RSA keys that are required to validate the upgrade. Importing a dmp file from 9.2.0.4 to 10g(patched 9.2.0.6)

i am trying to import a dmp file to a 9.2.0.6 db .
the source of the dmp file is 9.2.0.4 db.
i have tryied every thing including exporting with the 9.2.0.6 exp from 9.2.0.4.
two broblem occuer and i thing thay are connected.
a. imp hung.
b. the imp is using two versions of oracle one 9i and the other is 10g.!!

You are trying to use 9.2.0.6 import to import into 10.2.0.3 database. This is not supported. You need to use 10.2.0.3 version import.

Import dmp file from a 64-bit to 32-bit database

I encountered the problem for import data from one database installed on a 64-bit HP-UX 11.0 with 8i database 64-bit database to another which was installed on HP-UX 10.2. 32-bit machine with Oracle 7.3.4 database.
The two databases were installed with default NLS.
Is there a way to handle this problem ?

Since you haven't provided an error message it is hard to tell what the problem might be? But from the scenario you are describing you may be importing a higher version of the export dmp file than the target database. This is not allowed. One thing you can try is to do the 8i database export using the EXP utility from 7.3.4, and then try importing into 7.3.4 .

Solution found.
I am a Vodafone customer and installed the Vodafone app which asks you to turn off wifi connection on installation as it needs to communicate with their servers over 3G.
After restoring the iPad via iTunes this is the only app that I did nor re-install and seems to be too much of coincidence that while in full screen view watching films my wifi is switched off and 3G data connection is established 10 - 15 minutes into a fiilm and my data allowance gets eaten up!
I would also get push notifications from Vodafone saying "my daily data usage was almost used" with this app installed.
Have tested and on 3rd time watching sky go still wifi is on after 30 mins.
DO NOT INSTALL VODAFONE APP FROM THE APP STORE.

Can i start or boot DMP from DMM ?
I have plan to put my existing DMP in shutdown state in weekend and wake up again in monday to minimize load of DMP operation. Can you guyss help me ..., or any clue about it, maybe DMP have a feature like "wake up" from LAN.

DMP 4305G as a Standalone device - can do things

Can we set up this 4305G as a standlone device ? if so what additional benefits will be available by integrating that to DMM ?
what can we achieve with 4305G stand alone mode , can we run tickers , videos etc with the 4305G standalone mode ?

Yes you can setup any DMP as a standalone device. The DMM makes it easier to manage and develop content but is not required. Each DMP has a web interface that you can enter URLs pointing to content you want to play. Content can also be placed on a USB drive and played through the DMP. What content can be played depends on the DMP model and software release level. SWF not working in DMP-4305G ??

Hi all
I have created a simple SWF file, which just display a Helloworld text only
Save it as .swf with Flash player version 7
I have uploaded the swf to a web server. i.e. http://192.168.1.100/test.swf
In the Cisco Digital Media Play Device manager > URL to be displayed
the URL is: http://192.168.1.100/test.swf
after I press the "Go" button, the DMP respond the following error message.
/tmp/ftproot/usb_1/.tmp/kxext14n.swf could not be saved because the source file could not be read
Am I missing any config?

If you uploaded the file to the server it shoule be visible in the DMM so in the Presentation editor you can add a video playlist, then add it via the content manager...Right?
