Subtitles on tv out settings problems  (Classic 160GB)

Hy people!
I have some problems regarding subtitles on my iPod Classic. I turn on the subtitles in Ipod menu and everything works good when playing on iPod. But when I connect to TV using compenent AV cable (original Apple cable)some special characters are not shown on TV subtitles. Characters like Croatian or German special character (Croatian č, š, ć, ž or German ß, ä, ö, ...).
Any thoughts how to fix this???

Bump
Need help...
One more time: characthers are normaly shown in subtitles when playing on ipod, but not on tv! When played on tv out it only shows normal (english) characters in subtitles but not special (like german, croatian, czech etc.)...

  • . I am new to IPods. I have a Classic 160GB and I can't figure out how to load my music videos to it. I have had no problem loading my music CD's but no go with the music videos I have. Please HELP. Thanks maxsdad

    Hello:
I am new to IPods. I have a Classic 160GB and I can't figure out how to load Music Videos to iTunes or the IPod. I have had no problem loading my CD's to iTunes and to the IPod, but no go on the Music Videos.
    Please Help

    B-Rock:
Ok. Here's the results. I tried all the music videos I wanted to put onto the IPod and the results were:
I was able to get good results with 2 full length music videos and 2 video singles(only 2 videos on each disk). For a total of 4 videos.
I was able to encode 5 full length music videos, but the results were distorted (video and audio).
I was unable to copy 2 full length videos due to error failures. 1 was a "No Title Found" error, the other was a "NAVDAT" error.
I guess my next question is: Do you know of any other program(s) that I might try, to see if I can get good results with the videos that didn't work with Handbrake?
Thanks again for all your help.

  • [PLEASE HELP!] Problems with iPod Classic 160GB.

Okay, I was about to sync my iPod Classic 160GB and go to bed. I plugged it in and everything was good. I am not sure if it was syncing yet, but it fell off the cord because my HP laptop moved. I wasn't worried at the time, The apple screen came up so I pressed Middle Button+Menu to reset it, then I plugged it back in. When I plugged it back in it said I had to format the drive in G.. The screen of the iPod said Connected Eject before disconnecting and had the circle arrows like when it is loading. It seems to be working fine when I unplug it.
But anyways, When I unplugged it a second time (I did click Disconnect in the toolbar on the actual device, not in iTunes) it didn't work again, and it brought up the grey apple screen again, then went to the language. so I plugged it back in. Then I said OK to the reformat. I clicked Default settings to the format and left the Volume Label blank because I don't know what that is...
It said WARNING: Formatting your iPod will delete all files on it, or something along the lines of that. so, I said okay, I'll just resync it, just get on the reformat. When I clicked format it said that it couldn't format my iPod... So, once again, I disconnected it, ejecting from the actual device in the toolbar, and it was absolutely cleared asking me for the Language. It keeps doing this every time I plug it in, and even when I switch USB slots. it wont read into my iTunes either.
I am really sad, and please answer because my iPod is basically my life, this is my worst nightmare come true.
    PLEASE ANSWER QUICK, Thanks...

  • IPod Classic 160GB film library sync problem -  trying to sync films that have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store - all other libraries sync perfect - why?

Hello Apple and the iTunes Windows PC users community.
I am trying to sync films that I have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store. The mp4s all appear and play successfully in my iTunes application but will not sync across to the iPod film library folder.
For your information: I am using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a Windows 7 64bit machine with 500GB hard disk and 8GB of Ram in the UK.
I have restored the iPod classic 160GB three times now to see if it was a hardware problem with no joy. Each time all the music restores properly as do the podcasts and all the items in TV programmes all appear to sync and work fine.
I have also tried to copy films into the TV Programmes to get around it with no joy. They always go to the films section to start with. It is just the Films library that does not sync - all others work perfectly. As a last resort I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes with no joy either.
I am technically savvy and have gone through the itunes and ipod settings but nothing appears to make a difference - This is the first time I have had to post here as I can usually solve the majority of the ipod anomilies but this one has me flummoxed.
Has the film encoding type changed in the newest itunes update? - Has this happened to anybody else and is it a hardware, software, or operating system problem.

Having uninstalled the current version 11.1.3.8 and loaded and older version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 I can now categorically confirm that the newest update seems to be causing the problem as the films and TV Programmes are syncing perfectly on this older version.
If you are going to do this please dont forget to remove the  ' iTunes Library.itl' file as this stops the older versions from running as I've just found out

  • I've just downloaded itunes 12 and when I connect my IPod classic 160gb, I tunes shows it'sP name briefly and then then ipod silhouette at the top left simply greys out and nothing else happens. Please advise.

I've just downloaded itunes 12 onto my pc. When I connect my IPod classic 160gb, it's name shows up briefly before the ipod silhouette at the top left simply greys out and nothing happens.
    Please advise.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • HT1351 Am having problems syncing iPod classic 160gb to iTunes within Windows 8. Can you help?

I bought my iPod Classic 160GB from new in April 2012.  For several months, I ran it through an older HP laptop running Windows XP home edition (service pack 3 I think?).  I did however, use a Toshiba external hard drive to store all CDs/podcasts/photos etc.  All worked very well and I put a fair amount of music (via CDs and podcasts) on the iPod via iTunes.  All worked successfully.  I changed computer earlier this year - another HP laptop but now running Windows 8.  I've downloaded the up to date edition of iTunes AND have also transferred all existing material/files from the same Toshiba external hard drive to the iTunes in my new computer.  (think I did this correctly?)  So far, so good.  I have placed some more music on the external hard drive and into iTunes and wanted to sync with my iPod.  I connect iPod to the computer.  It's recognised in iTunes as the window comes up showing iPod's serial number and settings etc etc.  The iPod screen shows 'sync' and the top of screen in iTunes also shows 'syncing' however, after a few seconds, this stops and the iPod screen shows 'OK to disconnect' without having transferred any of the new music onto the iPod.  Although all the existing music remains on the iPod (the stuff that was there before), the copule of new CDs hasn't been transferred over.  Can anyone help me solve this problem?  I hear that there are some problems at the moment syncing iPods within Windows 8.  Anybody else had this problem?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello hindzee,
The acticle below goes over how to sync content to iPod Classics. The section titled "Syncing automatically" will most likely be the most helpful protion of that article for you.

  • Just took my iPod classic 160GB out of box turned it on and accidently hit clickwheel or button and eveything is in language other than english.  How do I get it back to english without being able to read symbols.

just took my iPod classic 160GB out of box, turned it on and accidentially hit a button changing the language from english to something else (chinese or japanese).  All I see now is symbols.  How do I turn it back to english without knowing what any of these symbols mean.  I started clicking buttons and click wheel and can't seem to get to any section with various language options.  Please some help me get it back to english.

There are two options. The first is to learn whatever language you have it set to, the second is to find someone else with an iPod Classic and read the English menu and follow it in your iPod. I also believe you may be able to set language perfunces from within iTunes while the iPod is docked, providing they are in English.

  • TS1382 I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it back up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that

I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still showing 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it backed up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that memory or to get it the music back, there is approximately over 1400 songs on it?

What is the memory being used by, is it Other? If it is, that means the iPod can no longer read the music, so it has put it all in "Other".
The usual fix for this is to allow the iPod to Sync with its iTunes Library. If that doesn't work, the next option is to Restore the iPod using the Restore command in iTunes, on the Device/Summary pane.
Unless you are very (very) lucky, I suspect that you are going to have to Restore your iPod. Restoring will remove everything form the iPod and put back onto it only what it finds in your iTunes Library, which you say is currently empty.
    If you have to rebuild your Library after this issue, by adding all the music back again, this is going to be hard to hear, but for the future, you may want to consider always having a backup of your library. The easiset way to back the Library up is;
if the Library is small enough, burn it to a DVD, as digital files, not a "music CD".
If your Library is too large for a DVD, buy yourself an external hard drive and copy the Library onto the drive. Remember to update the backup every so often.

Video & TV out settings seem correct-I can see album cover, but no video. Is it possible to get itunes music videos to play or do I need to get new ipod.   It works on my iPad and iPhone, but not through iPod Classic.

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod?  Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

  • Problem with my iPod classic 160gb - making funny noises, and no download

Hi, At the same point every time i try to put music on my ipod classic 160gb, it begins to make a funny noise, and itunes and the ipod freezes. I have to disconnect it unproperly, and the message "The ipod disk could not be read from or written to", but my old music still remains. So i tried to restore the ipod on my macbook, but i still have the problem.
This is the 4th Ipod classic 160gb i have had, and there has been a harddisk problem with all of them, so this could be the problem, but the funny click-clack sound is new to this one.
Anybody in here have experience with such kind of problems?
Hope to get the problem solved soon.
    Oliver Nash, DK.

Unfortunately, when a hard drive starts clicking that means it's going bad. The mechanism is having trouble reading the drive. Since the iPod is mostly just a harddrive and a battery I have a feeling that this is your problem.
    watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMm6c3fr-fU
about 25ss in is where the clicking starts. If it sounds like that, but softer and more muffled since it is a smaller drive that is being enclosed then I think you might be SOL. Maybe if you're iPod is still under warranty you can get a credit and go for a touch and avoid moving parts all together?

  • HT3798 Itunes not syncing my ipod classic 160gb due to error code -50. How do I solve this problem?

I have over 5000 songs in my ipod classic 160gb. My ipod software version is 1.1.2. The itunes version is 10.6.1.7
Itunes cannot sync my music to my ipod. It only syncs about 301 songs and gives the error message -50, and cannot sync ipod. I have tried changing itunes version, restoring and even de-selecting some songs to no avail. I am so fraustrated; please help me.

Doublechecking. Have you tried the iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document?

  • Problem with 160GB Classic

So, I just recently installed the new 1.1 update for my 160Gb Classic. Everything worked fine. Then I started to apply some EQ's to songs (which I had not previously done) and iTunes froze up. I managed to end the task and quit iTunes and used the eject storage device icon on the bottom toolbar on my computer to eject my iPod. After saying it was "OK to disconnect", I did and the iPod clicked, shut down and came back on saying I had no music. However, when I plugged it back into iTunes, it showed that all the space my music had previously taken up was now listed as "Other". I don't want to have to re-load all my music. Can anyone help me?
    Here are my stats:
    Windows
    iTunes 7.5
    iPod Classic 160GB
    HP Computer

The easy way is just to do a restore. In the future, I wouldn't work on my iTunes library files while the iPod is connected. It seems to me that iTunes already uses a HUGE chunk of system resources, and having the iPod connected just uses even more. Then when you start changing ID3 tags ("Get Info"), it can really cause the system to CHUG. If you don't believe me, try just changing one ID3 tag on a 1.5GB movie file. iTunes practically takes over the computer until it's darned good and ready to do something else.
Or, I'd download [Tagger|http://tvtagger.wordpress.com>, which doesn't use nearly as many resources as iTunes, and allows you to edit many more ID3 fields than iTunes does.

  • Problems doing a 2nd sync on Classic 160gb

I have a ipod classic 160gb ipod, have rented a movie which is not automatically going onto my ipod.
When the ipod i connected and the ipod summery page shows in itunes, i am able to click on movies and i get the two boxes showing "rented movies" and "On Alison's Ipod". Next to the movies there is a "move" option but then when i click on "apply", itunes i showing that it is processing but the ipod is not actually re-connecting and then a message "The ipod Alison's ipod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found".
When i disconnect the ipod the movove reverts back to "rented movies" when i reconnect the ipod.
I know i am able to watch movies on my computer, but would actually prefer to watch them on the ipod, which was why i originally rented the movie.
Thanks for any assistance in advance.!

Altough all the steps you have advised are required/useful the thing that made the difference was the firewire. I got round the issue by plugging the firewire into a power outlet socket and the usb into my mackbook and no errors have been found thus far.I will update once all the updates have completed aswell. Thanks for all your help. S
