Subtracting numerical fields in form fields

I am looking for a way to subtract a numerical field in one field from the other.  On the form field, when calculate tab is chosen, there is no drop down for the (-) side of the equation.
Is there a way to do a simple Javascript code to do this task?
Thanks,
Donald

Try placing a minus symbol in front of the number it will subract from the number above it. I am looking to find a way of subtracting a number from another witout having to use that minus symbol. I need to "dummy" down all of my forms for the users. Anyone, anything?

  • How to right align a read only numeric field in a panel form layout

    Hi, does anyone know how to right align a read only numeric field in a panel form layout? I am using: Style Class = AFFieldNumberMarker, but it only seems to work if the field is disabled. Disabling the field gives it a difference appearance that does not look right on our forms. These are calculated fields, which cannot be modified, so read only is necessary.
    I have looked online for some answers, and it seems that others are having similar issues.
    I have tried different combinations for the properties, but so far I cannot get it to work.
    Thanks

  • How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    You have to use custom JavScripting to concatenate the first 2 fields. You cannot use the first 2 calculation options because they force the values of the fields to a numeric value or ignore string values.
    Possible scripts for the 3rd field are:
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString + " " + this.getField("Text2").valueAsString;
    or
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString.concat( " ",  this.getField("Text2").valueAsString);
    If you do not want change the separator or not show the separator when on or the other field is empty, you will need to add more code to adjust for change.
    The above scripts will also concatenate number because the field values are read as strings and not numbers.
    There is also a generalized user written function to concatenate up to 3 fields with a separator that adjust for missing data.

  • Numeric Field in Adobe Form

    Hi,
    I'm trying to display a numeric field in an Adobe Form. The issue is that the decimal part of the the field  is getting truncated when I view the Adobe Form in Print Preview.
    The numeric field is of the form -6,213.19. In the form the value appears as -6,213.1 . I'm not able to understand why this value is getting truncated. I've tried all the numeric and decimal patters available but with no luck.
    Could you please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sandeep.

    Hi
           You dont specify any patterns. You just simply drag and drop the Numeric field on the layout and then right click on the field
    go to Pallets -> Object -> Value tab -> here you specify your value  -6,213.19.->In Binding tab -> Data format as Float. and then check the priview in PDF its printing the same as -6,213.19.
    Try this once. It will work i checked it . Its working
    Thanks

  • How to validate a Numeric Field in an Interactive form

    Hi,
    In my Interactive form i had placed certain Numeric Fields (Price Information). The user may change the pricing info. My requirement is, the user enters any numeric data the form should show an alert message and revert back the pricing information to the existing one.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Ranjan

    Hello Kavita,
    patterns are not processed during editing. If you can't use the default behavior of the numeric field when a character is entered (handled when the user finished editing), you could use scripting to process input. Depending on what you want to do you could use the exit event or the change event.
    A change event has a property called "change" that caused the event. You could try "xfa.host.messageBox( upper(event.change) )" in FormCalc to show the characters in upper case.
    But, you should go this way only if the patterns for editing and for display and validation scripts can't be used in your case.
    Best regards
    Juergen

  • Why is a time/attendance form with many numeric fields slow to fill out?

    A form created in LiveCycle 9 and saved as PDF has a table with many numeric fields to fill in number of hours under days of the week and type of activity. The bottom row of the table has total numeric foelds that calculate the total hours. I tried removing the totals thinking that it would speed up filling in the document but it didn't. Is there some limit to the number of fioelds a documents can have without slowing it down? What can be done to speed it up?

    I have this issue as well. I created an expense tracking form using the Acrobat X basic calculation tool (not javascripts) and it takes 10 - 15 seconds to move to the next field on an iPad or Android device. On my PC it works great. HELP!
    I also tried using a trial version of Acrobat XI with the same result.

  • Connecting selection of radio button to a text or numeric field

    Hi. I am using LiveCycle Designer 8.0 and I am trying to define object properties that will allow the selection of a radio button to populate in a numeric data field at the bottom of the page. I was able to write the script to have that happen with drop-down lists, but I can't figure out how to write the script for the radio button. I also don't know if the script is supposed to apply to the radio button itself or the numeric field where I want the result to show-up. Can you please help me with some sort of an example script? Thanks.

    Hi Jen,
    I would recommend that you amend your workspace in Designer. You can show/hide palettes from the Window menu.
    Here are some pointers (which are optional):
    This is the hierarchy palette and is very handy when working with forms. You can select objects quickly and drag objects around.
    This is the Object palette, which makes it easy to drag objects onto the page.
    The main space with tabs for Design View, Master Pages, XML Source (you should not need this) and Preview.
    You can select objects in EITHER the page or the hierarchy view and then change properties in other palettes.
    The Script Editor is very important when you start to add functionality to your form. It is visible on your screen shot, but it is limited to one line in height. So I would recommend that you drag this down so that you can see a few lines of script. The Show dropdown in the Editor allows you to look at the script in various events. In the example I posted, there is script in the click event.
    Object palette (and Font & Paragraph palettes). These will allow you to make changes to various properties, depending on the object that is selected.
    You will see from the screenshot that you can position and stack the palettes to suite your screen and workflow.
    Now, in relation to your screenshot:
    You have selected a single radio button in your group. You need to select the whole exclusion group, this is easy in the hierarchy palette.
    In the Object > Binding palette you have ticked the Specify Item Values (good), but you need to edit the values to match the Display Items. For example for item "$85", the specified value should be "85".
    For starters, I would recommend that you open a few of the palettes and then have a look at my example and the screenshots. Hopefully that will clear it up for you.

  • How to get the width of a numeric field at runtime

    Hi, everyone :D
    Is there a built-in that let me get the width of a numeric field at runtime? The SRW bulit in only has the SWR.GET_PAGE_NUM built-in. Is there something like the Get_item_property of Forms IN Report?

    Hi. Thanks for answering. I need the width because i want to set the format of the field at runtime. The quantity of decimal digits for all the numeric fieds in the report is received as a parameter.
    I can use a function to create the respective decimal mask ('D99,'D999',etc.) and then call the SRW.SET_FORMAT_MASK in the format trigger of every single field, but i'd have to type the mask of the integral part of the number in the code of the trigger ('99G999D99, '999G999G999D'). However, If i could get the width, i'd just create a function and call it from every format trigger.

  • How to format a numeric field in ES2 ?

    Hi...
    I'm trying to format a numeric field in LiveCycle designer using six digit and allowing zero's "000000"…
    I went to patterns for setting the format, unfortunately I couldn't know how figure it out?
    I’ve tried this pattern: null{}|zero{000000}|num.integer{}
    It didn’t work!
    what actually I’m looking for is six digit at all time for instance if enter value of 1 in the field expect to appear 000001 ,and if i enter value 567 the appearance will be 000567 in the field and so on...etc.
    Another issue is how to validate a range of numeric value like 000001-999999 so that the input will be only restricted by those values…
    Hope this is clear! And sorry for my bad English
    Best Regards...

  • Extra zeros in numeric fields when I create spreadsheet from data files

    I created a form with Live Cycle, and then in Adobe I use the option "create a spread sheet from data files" to import the answers to a xls file.
    I have two problems with this action: the first one is that I get 8 extra zeros in each numeric field, the second one is that fields are ordered by type and not by appearance.
    I tried a different approach importing directly in Excel, in that way there are no extra zeros and the order is correct, but I get just one form each time, and in a "stairways" fashion (i. e. first field in A1, second in B2, and so on)
    I'd appreciate any help

    Where do you find the command "create a spread sheet from data files"?
    Anyway i have a similar problem: when i export data in a .csv file and than i import it in excel, i always get 8 extra zeros... how can i solve the problem?

  • Is it possible to use the status of a checkbox to change the fillcolor of a numeric field?

    I have read through most all of the threads, but found none pertaining to my specific question.  I would like to change the fillcolor of a numeric field based upon the status (on/off) of a checkbox located on a different page.  In other words, if the checkbox is checked I want the numeric field to be yellow with a solid (thin) black border.  I have tried:
    If (CheckBox1.rawValue="1")
    {this.fillcolor="R,G,B";} else
    {this.fillcolor="250,250,250"};
    I haven't gotten the correct RGB values yet for the color I am using, that is why the script has "R,G,B"
    I am pretty new at javascript and have been learning a lot from the forums, but I just can't seem to figure this one out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

    Give this a go...

  • Changing width of a numeric field

    Hi,
    I have a table with numeric fields in the table cells.
    I want it to look like this:
    Item1 (numeric field box) %
    Item2 (numeric field box) %
    Item3 (numeric field box) %
    Item4 (numeric field box) %
    I can't seem to limit the lenght of the field from the right small enough to fit 2 characters, it snaps to the width of the table cell.  Then I want to put the % symbol after the field.
    You can move the field smaller from the left though.
    I tried to split the table cell, but when I select in the table cell, it just selects the numeric field and the options for splitting the table cell are grayed out under the table menu?
    Thanks!

    Somehow on your form it worked in another way than in mine.
    Put this javascript on exit:
    if (this.rawValue > 100 || this.rawValue < 1)
    {this.rawValue = null;}
    if (this.rawValue <= 100 && this.rawValue >= 1)
    {this.rawValue = this.rawValue / 100;}
    this one on enter:
    if (this.rawValue != null && this.rawValue <= 1)
    this.rawValue = this.rawValue * 100;
    this pattern on the first heading (or whatever it is called):
    num{z9%}
    and this pattern on the second:
    num{zz}
    If the user enters anything that is no integer between 1 and 100 it will delte the value. (You won't need to prohibit anything with the lenghts of the field.)
    Edit: If you want you can also add a error message which tells the user that the number he has to write into it has to be between 1-100.

  • Limit the number of digits in a numeric field

    Hi
    I have been searching for the last hour to find out ho i can limit the numeric field on my livecycle form. I have seen lots of java script however nothing seems to work, all i want is for the user only to enter 6 digits (e.g. 123456) and if they try to enter more a message would say that only a 6 digit number can be entered.
    This is driving me mad for something i though would be quite simple.
    Can anybody help?

    I am not 100% on the Javascripting; however in the Object window, Field Section there is an option to put the maximum number of characters in a numeric field. It says "comb of" and then it gives you an option of the maximum number of characters that can be allowed in the field. If you put 6 it will only allow 6 characters. However if that is not something you want you can go to the Value Section within the Object Window and click on the Validation Pattern button. In the Validation tab, in the pattern section type in "999999" and hit apply. It should replace it with "num{999999}" which is 6 numeric values. For a custom error message, in the same Value section, add a custom Validation Pattern Message (make sure to check the error box") and then save your file. If someone tries to put more than 6 values in it should pop up with your custom message. I do find it is easier for the user to understand if you use the comb function instead of the validation pattern. It is a lot more clear to the user on what you need. Just my personal opinion though.
