Subunit of time below a second in PE11?

Hi folks,
I notice that PE11 has a unit of time below a second, which is divided into 30 parts.
I had always assumed one would simply use decimals if they need subdivsions of a second, such as 4.5 seconds. So that a timepoint of 2 hours, 3 minutes and 4 and ahalf seconds would be 2:03:04.5. Or maybe 2 H 3' 4.5''.
But PE11 would say this as 02;03;04;15
Is this a quirk of PE, or is there really some basis for only counting to 30 for subdivisions of a second?
Wikipedia says there is also a "thirds" which comes after "seconds", but which counts to 60, just like seconds and minutes.
Can anyone shed light? Thanks if you can help!

The Timecode for Premiere Elements can be seen as 00;00;00;00 (NTSC) representing hours; minutes; seconds; frames.
If you are working from a 30 frames per second system, the one frame would be represented as 00;00;00;01 and that 1 frame would be eqvalilent to 0.033 seconds.
It would go from 00;00;00;29 to 00;00;01;00.
If you are in a PAL setup, then the puncuation marks between would be : instead of ;
In the case of your 02;03;04;15, that would be
2 hours 3 minutes 4 second + 0.5 second
or
2 hours 3 minutes 4.5 seconds
Please check it out.
Thanks.

Add On...It is not just Premiere Elements 11. Some of these frames setting can be useful when you get to Time Lapse  That is my take on all this.

When i turn on my macbook a box appears telling me i need to restart my computer (in different languages) and in order to do so i have to press on the off button for a lil while. Even after doing this the same box appears and it never restarts correctly. This box appears every single time. I rarely turn my computer off. I just place it on sleep mode and restarts it only when i get prompted to. I brought it to genius and they couldnt figure out what the problem is so i was told it needed to be shipped to get fixed. I didnt have anything backed up. All i want saved are the pictures because i went to 2 events where i was the assigned photographer and i didnt get to save it to an external memory. Genius said that when shipped i cant give instructions like make sure to save the pictures and if they are unable to, call me if they should go on with the process. I was wishful thinking that to fix the problem they might not even have to touch the pictures memory part. I brought my MBP back home hoping it will miraculously starts and id be able to back it up but now all it does when i turn it on is the screen remains gray with the apple symbol and the circle timer below. The screen stays this way even if i leave it on for hours. Please help me fix this!!! cant i really specify to the technicians at apple  to please make sure not to erase the pictures? Is there no other way to turn on my mac? I only need it to work ones.

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Connect the iPod to your computer and try to restore via iTunes. Try placing in Recovery mode if necessary to restore.
    - If you can't turn the iPod completely off, let the batter fully drain. After charging for at lerast anhour try again
    - If still not successful time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

It seems it always happens when we are doing a query. I had the
    "javax.jdo.option.MaxPool=20" and for postgresql I have "max_connections
= 80", the action I am doing at that time is quite simple (and the
system is just freshly started) and I would not expect it is using more
than 2 connections since there is only one read and one write going on.
Do you guys have any clue how could this happen? do I miss something
obvious? and how are the connections managed for the query?
    thanks a lot!

My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds… Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but not the most up-to-date version

It's just the battery sign - nothing else. I've tried to reboot by holding down both power and home key for 10+ seconds, waiting for the apple logo - but nothing happens. It's plugged into the imac at the moment. I tried to recharge it overnight using the normal charger - but no luck. It went dead during a Skype call with a friend - even though it was powered into the mains - albeit at a low battery level at the time

  • Time stamp dropping seconds

I figure someone has had this problem before but didn't see it in the forum anywhere.  I'm adding a time stamp to a file so I've used the "Get Time/Date in Seconds" and wired that to a "Convert to DBL".  This then wires both into an indicator on the Front Panel and into the "Write to Measurement File" Express VI.
The indicator displays the time stamp just fine but in the file it puts it into scientific notation and cuts off the last 4 digits as well as any fractional seconds.  The time stamp writes to the file every 5 seconds so it is important to have the rest of the time stamp included.  I've tried using probes on the wires to see where things go weird but I get the same truncated value in the wire before and after the indicator.  I thought it had something to do with the Express VI first since the indicator is fine but with it truncated in the wire it seems that the Express VI is indeed saving exactly what is handed to it...but then again the indicator...you can see I've been running in circles over this!  Does anybody know the reason it is doing this and a possible solution?
    Thanks a lot!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can't post the exact code because it is being developed for use outside our lab but I've recreated the basics of the problem.  The array would be the collected data and except some filename details and things like that everything relevant to the time and saving is included.  Also settings in the express VI are the same.  Not sure if it will help out.

Hello skdog I possibly think your ipod touch is black because it has not charged. If your dock is broken it might just mean the dock will be broken and so might be the USB port. You should see an Apple shop nearby and hand it over and see what they can do. I hope this information works!

  • I need to get the system time in Micro second

    Hi,
In the java API there is a static method curentTimeMillis, but I need
to get the system time in Micro second there is a equivalent method? Or
    there exists any suggested solution?
    Thanks
    Dany

Why do you need such accurate timing ?
I'd be suprised if anyone seriously relies on millisecond timing in
Java, never mind calling through to JNI to get microsecond timing.
If that's even possible in native code.
The garbage collector can cause delays/pauses in a java program and
throw timings off by at least 500 milliseconds, probably more under big loads.
If you just want a more accuruate way to reset a random seed, there's probably other ways...

Yes, unfortunately that seems to be it. I am happy to view a Big bar display for SMPTE as it is more accurate that only minutes and seconds. Looks like that and time in the Bar ruler is the best options for you.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

Go to the Date & Time preference pane, and unclick "Set date & Time automatically" to disable the behavior.
Unless it's failing to see its time server and trying multiple sites, it should just be issuing normal NTP traffic.

My iphone 4 locked up for several hours. i then tried to reset by holding down the home button and power button at the same time for 10 seconds and then the home button for 10 seconds. it is now completely black. what do i do? couldnt restore it in iTunes. Has anyone had this problem? Help!

Same thing happened to me today. I wasn't even using the phone for the past 6 hours and suddenly I can't connect to the internet, none of my internet apps would work - nothing. I tried to call AT&T from the iphone and it locked up - couldn't turn it off, change to the home screen - nada - brick.
Did the Home/Power button thing and that worked but this I've only had this phone for about 4 weeks and it's locked up more times than my 3GS did the whole two years I had it! Ridiculous

  • Recording Time Remaining: 30 seconds

I have 50 gigs free on my hard drive. I have the tempo set at 1 beat per minute. I dragged the max song length thingy out to 2000+ measures. I have about 2 hours of audio recorded on this track and now when I try to record more it says "recording time remaining: 30 seconds" and counts down from there. Why can't I record more audio?

    Hi there,
When you use a compression filter, your PC have to process every frame that you acquire.
Depending on your image size, image type (color or mono) and your CPU performance, you will increase time needed between each acquired frame.
Try different codec. But keep in mind that some only work on color images and some on mono images or both.
You will find a VI that list all the codec installed on your computer.
The frame rate you mentionned when you create an AVI is only an indication for the playback. It doesn't help.
    Hope this helps
