Subwoofer not utilized...

Hi, I have an XFI Titanium card, connected (via the discrete outputs) to my Denon AVR-603, which is connected to my fi've speakers, and the pre-out to my subwoofer.
Playing Bioshock earlier, on Game mode, the sub was working fine, but I fired up Fallout 3 and found that there was no longer output from the sub. So I tried enabling bass-redirection, which did absolutely nothing in Fallout 3, and nothing in Half-Life 2, or any music. What gives? Is my sub only going to work in certain games? If so, that seems pretty useless...hell, in order to get the sub to work while playing music, I had to split the front output from the card and go into another input on the reciever where it works perfectly fine.
Any ideas?

Disregard this. I had the speakers set to "Large" in the Windows settings. Works beautifully in both Entertainment and Game mode now!

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

  • X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!

<X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!I I have WIndows Vista 32-bit Ultimate and Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio installed and with the factory drivers (I tried another set earlier and they did not work, so I reinstalled the original drivers which worked, at least partially). Until now I only listened to music using my headphones, but I tried today to plug-in my 5. Genius system (50W RMS) and everything works fine EXCEPT the subwoofer does not produce any sound at all!! The ONLY way to make it work is go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> press Configure and then click the Test button in the dialog that appears (or click the subwoofer icon to make it produce a very nice bass sound - which I absolutely love, but it's the only way to make my subwoofer work!!!). Please guys, help me find out what the problem is. All help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you my friend,I have done as you have mentioned (made sure the DLL did not stay there when I rebooted before I installed your version), and now I have the version which you have built. However, I am still unable to hear the subwoofer I am so sad... even my default on-board card supports the 5. just great, and I love the sound of that, but I was hoping for something better from Creative - instead, all I got was a soundcard I can only use with my headphones at the moment because of a faulty driver...
    Did you enable Bass Redirection?
Run Console Launcher, click on Speakers and Headphone -> choose 5. Speakers.
Then click on Bass (Bass Management) and enable Bass Redirection.

  • External subwoofer not working on Asus n55sf notebook

The external subwoofer that comes with the notebook -- which has a proprietary audio jack connection -- doesn't seem to work.
While based on a web search I'm not certain anyone has got the subwoofer working reliably, the following Ubuntu bug thread suggests there is at least one other Arch user who has got the subwoofer working for a while (at least until the upgrade to Kernel 3.1).
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/871808
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get it working?  I've tried all the possible solutions suggested in the bug.  The hda_analyzer codec tweaks don't work for me. My system is up to date. I'm running Gnome 3, alsa and pulseaudio.
    The output of my alsa-info.sh is http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=4777d … af41b8d3bb
Perhaps I need to file a bug with the alsa project?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    A further update:
My sound chip is a Realtek ALC663.  I've tried to setting the model version in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf using the following statement
    options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-6ch-dig
Models are specified for the ALC663 chip at http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Document … Models.txt.  I have tried the following models:
    3stack-dig     3-stack (2-channel) with SPDIF
    3stack-6ch     3-stack (6-channel)
    3stack-6ch-dig 3-stack (6-channel) with SPDIF
    5stack-dig     5-stack with SPDIF
    g50v                ASUS G50V
    asus-mode1    ASUS
    asus-mode2    ASUS
    asus-mode8    ASUS
    dell-zm1            Dell ZM1 with ALC272
    auto                auto-config reading BIOS (default)
I can get the subwoofer working under some of these configurations but that typically means selecting surround sound and having missing channels (I think the laptop has a left front and a right front channel and the external subwoofer, not a front centre or any rear speakers).  Typically, the subwoofer, when working is linked to the right channel, so it would appear that the right channel is output through the subwoofer and the left channel through the front speakers.
I think I need to file a bug with ALSA project and hope that support for my laptop can be included in a future release of ALSA.

  • RAM not utilized properly

    Hi, Please help?
I have dell power egde 2950 having windows server 2003 enterpprise edition 32Bit, and i have 32GB RAM.
windows is showing 32GB every where, and i have Oracle DB 9i installed on the server.
but Oracle is not utilizing the RAM properly , like under 1 GB
Please help, The server is up and live, its better if i can correct this problem without restarting.
    Thanks.

Hi in windows 2003 server especially on 32-bit systems there is a limitation for using memory beyond 2 GB.
recently i got this problem. there are 2 solutions for this.
    sol 1
you need to change the parameter in boot.ini file (it is OS critical file and these changes should be done by SA - not by DBA)
    sol 2
you can decrease the size of SGA (use sga_target if 10g) and increase the size of PGA.
we implemented sol 2 and its working fine since 1 month.

  • Laptop Subwoofer not recognized by Windows 7

My HP Pavilion dv7t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC subwoofer is not being recognized by Windows 7. The subwoofer is an HP Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer. The laptop came installed with Windows Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 the other day. The subwoofer was working perfectly before the upgrade, but now Windows doesn't even recognize the subwoofer exists when I go into the device manager. I have updated all audio drivers and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
Is there anything I'm missing or something else I can do to make Windows 7 recognize my subwoofer? Music and games suck without bass and it's really ruining an otherwise great laptop. Please help!

That is for sure the driver issue... I would suggest try this ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45556.exe

  • Subwoofer not recognized in Windows 7

    Hello,
I have a set of Klipsch Pro-Media 2.1 speakers with a 400w subwoofer that works when plugged into my desktop. I have a Lenovo X-301 with I think Conextant 20561 driver updated. Problem is, no sound whatsoever comes out of the subwoofer, and it is not recognized in the audio set up software. It says device is not present. Any suggestions? I have already updated the driver with no change to report.
    Thank you,
    Jack

Thank you, but it says the subwoofer is not present. I also don't know where or how to set it to 2.1 speakers... can you help direct me to that location? I am using Windows 7 x64 btw. Yes, perfect sound comes out of the two main speakers. When I plug the speakers into my desktop the subwoofer works perfectly along with everything... I don't have the option to select the subwoofer as it isn't recognized on the laptop. I just updated the Conextant audio driver to version 4.92.12.0 and no change in result. Subwoofer isn't recognized and is dead silent. This is extremely annoying since I know it works.  I also cannot just throw the subwoofer away because the satellites require being plugged into it. These are Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. There are no solutions out there on the internet. I don't have the option to even select 2.1 or subwoofer.
    Thank you!

  • External subwoofer not working with Satellite C55t-A5222

When I plug in an external speaker system into my laptop, the speakers work, but the subwoofer does not. I have tried two different speaker systems and have the same problem. I know the subwoofer works, because when I connect an ipod or iphone to the speakers through bluetooth, the sound is great. How can I get the same sound when the speakers are connected directly to my Satellite C55t-A5222 laptop? I have verified that I have the latest driver for my sound.

I was having the same problem, so I called Customer Service. The Tech diagnosed the problem with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8.0 so some of the drivers and devices my not have installed correctly, he guessed.
He went Control Panel > Hardware and Sound
Under Devices and Printers he selected Device Manager>Sound, video and game conroller>
He seleced Realtek High Definition Audio
He went to the Driver Tab and selected 'Uninstall"
He uninstalled the Realtek Device and rebooted my laptop.
After the Reboot, he went back to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound  and went all the way at the bottom selected "Realtek HD  Audio Manager. I don't recall if it was there before, but I assumed it wasn't since he was not able to find it previously.
The then opened up the Realtek HD Audio Manager and selected  DTS Tab and clicked the 'Launch' Button. He then selected 'External Speakers and 'Viola' My External Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 2.1 Speakers including the Sub Woofer were 'shaking' my office again!  YEAH!!
He said that each time I want to use the External Speakers and Headset I might have to select it in the Realteck HD Audio Manager if it is not working!    THANKS "SAM" (my Toshiba Tech Guy's psuedonym)

  • 2 of 4 speakers and Subwoofer not working for Altec Lansing Lucasfilms THX Surround (circa 2003)

I am attempting to connect my Altec Lansing Lucasfilm THX 5.1 sound system to my HP ENVY All-in-one. I think the original audio card for the sound system came on a Dell with Soundblaster.
I have connected the green audio to the jack in the back which only gets 2 of the 4 speakers working (even after configuring the speakers). The subwoofer is connected to the sub jack in the back panel as well and is not working at all. I realize that I am trying to have an ancient sound system work with my fancy new HP Envy. Am I asking too much??  I thought maybe a driver update might be needed. But in theory, if those jacks are available in the back it should work (she says optimistically).
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Not a problem.  Thank you for the additional information.
It sounds like you have the speakers connected correctly.  If there is only one connector for all of the speakers, it may be that you will only be able to use two of them.  However, I am not certain why the subwoofer isn't working.  Is it selected in the Control Panel / Sound?  I realize that you said the speakers are configured in the Control Panel, but is the subwoofer separate?
I have an old (2001) Polk Audio set of speakers.  I have only been able to get two of them and the subwoofer to work with my new HP computer.  It sounds fine without the other two speakers.

  • SBX4250 Subwoofer not synching.

Hopefully someone here can help me, I bought the SBX4250 shortly after christmas, I had to take that one back because the display didn't work, they gave me a new one, brought that one home and it all worked great.
In the last 2 weeks or so the subwoofer started de-synching and then re-synching, in the last couple of days it refuses to synch.
Someone suggested it's not close enough (worked before, nothing in the area has changed), So i put it about a foot or so from the sound bar. Still will not synch with the sound bar.
I followed the Synch instructions in the manual:
    Set Soundbar to HDMI-2
Hold >>| for 8 seconds on the remote
Hold the sub button until light flashes
Anyone else have this kind of problem. Any suggestions on how to fix it? It's a great soundbar, when it works.
    Connections If it matters:
    HD PVR > HDMI-1
    XBOX 360 > HDMI-2
    ARC > TV
TV Digital Out > Soundbar Digital In (I have my Roku and PC hooked into the TV, so the Digital cable is for output from those)

I have had the same problem with "paring" my sub woofer.  One day I turn on th esoundbar and there is a "no subwoofer" message scrolling across the screen.  I run through the troubleshooting list, try that, try "pairing" the subwoofer again to the soundbar.  Nothing.
    Have you had any success?
THe funny thing is I can connect my iphone thru BT and play music but the subwoofer can't sync.
If someone has solved your problem please let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Sticky This : Surround Sound coming out of front speakers and Subwoofer not work

The problem with Creative forum moderators and the like is that they have used their products so often that they forget the basic really simplistic things and as a result have a lot of frustrated customers (As indicated by the number of?problem posts?when this really need not be the case)? After building myself a media center with Windows XP (Yes the best DVD backup software is made for XP) my?X-Fi card Surround, Centre and Front Speakers were all mapped together for sound. After searching through the forums at many unanswered posts with similar problems I eventually came across the answer a few months back after a few days of reading this forums posts. The problem arises because of the Windows default settings which need to be changed when insatalling the sound card. Which I believe a good driver should be doing anyway. This is the menu path:StartControl PanelSounds and Audio DevicesAudioAdvancedPerformanceHardware Acceleration slide indicator should be on Full, then Apply? At this stage I got all the Speakers to work independently except the Subwoofer?I am not one to sit and study a user manual comprehensi'vely before attempting installation. I normally look for any serious warnings or precautions adhere to them and then slap the thing in and usually everything just happens in the correct sequence or that is how it should be with a new piece of hardware anyway. I use the manual more for problem solving. Anyways my point is that I have not read the manual in depth yet but all must be aware that you need?4-part jacks to get the most out of your?X-Fi sound card. The extra?points are required?in the Center/Subwoofer and Rear Speaker jacks because the extra connections within these jacks are used for SPDIF out on the Center/Subwoofer Jack and Side speakers for your 7. system on the rear speaker jack. (I dunno why they don't just put in 2 extra jacks that are the normal 3-part jacks .....or perhaps it's a way to force you to buy creative speakers which come with very rare?4-part jacks)? The subwoofwer can only be made to work if you pull out the 3-part jack just enough to make the correct contact with the card that gives you subwoofer signal.

    @tryignan ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  I have one question have you tried doing a system restore back to before this problem started.  Something has updated or changed in the drivers or Operating system to cause this.
Have you removed both audio drivers and just ran with the AMD audio driver.
Now did you try this when you removed your drivers.  Try booting into safemode and remove the two audio drivers.
Download your software and drivers for your system and save to dvd or usb memory stick.
Run the Recovery manager to restore software and drivers to factory spec.
Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8)
Now if that fails try doing the full Windows 8 recovery.
Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8)
Please post back and let me know if this was of any help.
Thank you again for posting and have a great day and a happy new year.

  • Subwoofer not working with THX cons

    Ok here's my problems,
When I updated for the last drivers, my subwoofer stopped working when I calibrate my speaker. When I don't use this options, I can have a good sound. but when I turned in on I loose all my base. So when I play games, I don't have any loud sound on. It's becomming anoying. I've tried to uninstall and install it for 6 times, and have error from plvcore.plx or something like that, and got throught it. But now event if I uninstall physically the card. there's no way out I don't have any loudness when Calibrate the speaker.
I ran a speaker test from the speaker options and it worked (I didn't use my computer that test)
when I use my computer as soon as I have my calibrate settings I don't have my subwoofer working.
It's not the EAX redirection 'cause I used it and didn't notice a change when I jplay Games (CS) only when I listen to music.

  • Subwoofer not working with Audigy

Unlike most posters to this forum, I have only a 2. speaker setup connected to my 2ZS. I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate (32-bit). The beta drivers for my sound card are working ok, in that I can get sound (with reasonable quality), but I'm not sure if the subwoofer is working. The Vista control panel only offers 2.0, not 2. sound. Is there anything special I need to do to make the subwoofer work?
