Successful video export requires "Lower Fields First"?

I'm having some trouble with video quality when exporting a 22-second animation .tga sequence from PPro CS4.1 to the Adobe Media Encoder CS4.1.0.107...
The sequence is a simple logo animation created in 3ds max 2009 rendered out to 720x480, par 0.9, fps 29.97, 24-bit, without fields.  Mainly standstill text and some moving graphics on a mostly white background.  The individual .tga frames are beautiful when viewed in Photoshop.
I exported to Microsoft AVI format from PPro to Adobe Media Encoder and used several different codecs (including "none") to equally horrible result.  The text and graphics are badly aliased and unwatchable.  Nothing I would ever send out to a client.
I noticed during these exports that the default position for "Field Type" on the codec presets are "Lower First".  For the exports, I was changing this setting to "Progressive" because the original animation frames were not rendered out of 3ds max with fields.  When reviewing the sequenced clip in "Interpret Footage...", PPro correctly indicated "Use Field Order from File:  No Fields (Progressive Scan)".
I believe I may have solved the problem myself --- I just left the "Field Type" setting on the default "Lower First" settings --- but I am mystified with how and why this is a fix.  I re-exported the sequence thru several codecs using the "Lower First" setting and most of the export compressions came out very nicely, especially the Cinepak Radius.
I also discovered that this approach solves the same problem when exporting to Quicktime, which also gives horrible results when "Progressive" is set.
Is this a bug?  Why did this solve the problem if my original animation was never rendered with fields and PPro also saw the sequence file as a progressive sequence?
Thanks in advance for any insight...

Hi Tom
Well this was a mistake with the version. I have currently version 7.0.3 sorry for that confusion.
What's not working in short terms is, that it is not possible to export fields (NOT Frames !) out of a Final Cut Logged Clip. Thats all i need...
I logged a movie directly into Final Cut. Then I want to export (after deinterlacing the sequence) the FIELDS of this clip. What FCP does is that it exports always the same field, NO MATTER WHAT FIELD is selected (even or odd).
The exported fields of the sequence ARE THE SAME. In the viewer I'm able to see the two different fields, but exporting them is not possible.
The only difference of the exported pictures is, that one looks sharp and the other one is a little blurred. But it is the same FIELD.
If you would like to have, I could send you two picture as a sample, then perhaps you know what I mean.
Thanks for your support.
Thomas
Note:
About your question. If I put the clip into a 50fps sequence the result is the same.

  • Upper or Lower Field First

OK, I posted a question earlier today about using a MPEG 2 file that was recorded with my NewTek Tricaster.  I had to run back into my office to do some stuff before my job tomorrow so I thought I would just take a quick look at it.  Long story short this MPEG 2 file looks fine in Premiere but looks like trash when exported to DVD.  It was suggested to me in my previous post by someone else that uses a Tricaster to export a AVI file from Premiere and then use another program to create the DVD MPEG 2 file.  I just looked at the sequence setting for this MPEG 2 file.  I had to use the Desktop selection to create a timeline that did not give me a red or yellow line over my footage.  The sequence setting are 29.97 fps, 720x480, PAR D1/DV NTSC (0.9091), Upper Field FIrst (In Premiere if I go to "Interpret Footage" it shows the clip as UFF).  So when I export my AVI file and/or MPEG 2 DVD file both of those should be UFF too correct?  I am guessing that is why my previous DVD's were looking so bad, because when I was exporting them from AME I was probably leaving the default of LFF.
Thanks for any and all help.
    Phil

I did burn a DVD last night that was UFF and it looked much better, but still not great.  I am going to try exporting an AVI file from Premiere, and then importing that back into Premiere just to export the MPEG 2 DVD file from, and also take the AVI into TMPGE to export the MPEG 2 DVD file from and see what kind of results I get.

  • Field order on DVD Video disk projects - cannot output ".VOB" with upper field first,,

Can anyone help ? - in Australia most DVD players (PAL) display the best video image in terms of picture quality and motion smoothness when the "VOB" files created on the DVD Video disk (for PAL), are Upper field first. I can only get "VOB" files with Lower field first from Premiere Elements 9.0.
I have spent many hours experimenting, and then 90 minutes talking to Adobe support who were very helpful - but unable to resolve the issue.
My Premiere Elements 9.0 has been updated to 9.0.1, but I am still unable to obtain VOB's with Upper field first. The resultant DVD's are not easy to watch.
(MPEG files can be created with Upper field first from the "Advanced" button - but there is no Advanced button on the Blu Ray/DVD option in the "Share" tab.)
    Thanking you, Dave.

Hi Steve, Yes - the output VOB's are lower field first, this can be observed
as "fuzzy" picures when playing the resultant DVD on a DVD player - the
motion is slightly jerky as well making for a video that is rather hard to
watch for too long - like trying to read without glasses (if you need them).
The input files are 720x576 16:9 PAL - Upper field first.
I have verified that the output VOB's are lower field first, using other PC
based video players and viewing the "properties" of the file.
Also, after spending about 90 minutes on the phone to Adobe support, and
exhausting all possible variations of project settings with them - they
confirmed the VOB's are output as lower field first in PAL format and were
of the opinion that one could not output PAL Upper field first VOB's using
    Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1.,
This is rather disappointing as from what I understand the Australian
standard is PAL Upper field first (720x576) 25fps. They suggested that I put
in a submission to the "Wish List", which I have done - no response yet.
    Thanks, Dave.

  • Blurry Video Exports

    Hello!
I am working on a new project using the CS4 Master Collection and experiencing some issues using Premier Pro CS4.
I've created a new project in Adobe After Effects CS4 and exported a quicktime movie with high quality "animation" settings
applied to it.  The animation exports perfectly and is as crisp and clear as it gets.
After importing this video into Premiere, applying some audio and and a title, then exporting, I get blurry video.
I have tried almost 30 different settings to export the video even using the animation setting in Premier. ( which ends up looking like a compressed .gif file! )
No matter what I try, it's always blurry and compressed looking.  So far the best setting for quality is using the "Apple Intermediate Codec".
However, it's still not comparable to the After Effects Settings.
Here are my settings for After Effects:
    Quality: Best
    Resolution: Full
    Size: 720x480
    Frame rate: 29.97
    Format: Quicktime Movie
Pixel Aspet Ratio: D1 / DV NTSC (0.91)
    Output Info: Animation
    Channels: RGB

    And my Premiere Project Settings:
    Editing Mode: Quicktime DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97
    Frame Size: 720x480
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1 / DV NTSC (0.9091)

  • PE4 File Export giving wrong field order

In PE4, when I execute File-Export with the following settings:
    General/File Type: Microsoft DV AVI
    Video/Compressor: DV PAL
Keyframe and Rendering/Fields: Upper Field First
It creates the AVI OK, but GSPOT shows that the AVI is Lower Field First, not Upper Field First as specified in the settings.
Why?  Is this a bug or does selecting DV force LFF (if so, then why isn't the UFF option greyed out in the settings?).
What I am trying to do is create some smaller sub-projects in the form of AVI's, which I will eventually import into a final large project.  The source files for the subprojects are mpgs from an HD camcorder, so they are Upper Field First (UFF), and so I am using the PAL Harddisk project preset, which expects source files to be UFF.
Since my final project will include both UFF mpgs and those AVI subprojects, I want the AVIs to be UFF also, so that I don't have to selectively reverse field orders etc.
    Is this wrong?
    Thanks
    Dave

==> "You can even use Premiere Elements for the conversion by applying field order reversal and then exporting to DV-AVI."
Splitting hairs I know, but again to clarify for me:
For the initial conversion to DV-AVI, if I start a project in PE4 with a UFF preset, bring in my UFF mpgs, then export to DV-AVI (WITHOUT applying field order reversal), is this doing the same as what you suggest?  That is, in this case, the field reversal is taken care of by PE4 behind the scenes because I told it to do so by using a UFF preset?  Or do I still need to manually reverse the fields?
Sorry to be dense, but there seems to be many ways to do the same thing, and I'm trying to figure out the simplest and least error prone way to do it.

I played a rented movie in my newly bought ATV, but when i wanted to watch a TV Series i got the "Authorization is Required" !! although i have successfully played a rented movie at first !! and when checking into iTunes i couldnt find the ATV??

The ATV2 or ATV3 (small black boxes) don't show up as devices in iTunes. If iTunes and the ATV's have Home sharing turned on for the same account - and are on the same network, the ATV should show up as an AirPlay target device in iTunes.
The rented movie - was this rented on the ATV or in iTunes?
The TV series - where are you trying to play this from? Is it in iTunes or via the 'TV Shows' menu in ATV... i.e streaming from iCloud?

  • First Video Export to DVD Question

Hi - I have my first ever video export from Premiere to a DVD and I'm a little nervous about it.  My footage will be shot with the Panasonic ACHD (I think that's the model as I don't have the camera with me here) and the camera is set for 1280 x 720 at 24 FPS.
I was looking through the export settings in Premiere CS4 and found the MPEG-DVD and MPEG Blue Ray settings.  When I select MPEG-DVD, I notice that two vertical bars are in each end of the output; when I select MPEG Blue Ray, there's a setting in there that makes those bars go away and the picture fits the dimensions perfectly, so it looks like I can use those settings.
My question is - after I export this file, how do I actually get it on the DVD disk?  Should I export it like above and then use Adobe Encore to burn the disk?  Or is there some other method?
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Your original file is HiDef, a DVD is Standard Def at 720x480 so you will see a difference from original to DVD
You may not use BluRay files on a DVD... see above
You use PPro for editing, Encore for authoring... reading below

And now, i have to convert the mov to mpeg2-1080 format. But there are also others requirements and i dont know the way to do it.
    Here are the requirements:
    Video format: 1920x 1080p (progress)
Audio format : mpeg 1 layer 2 audio
file extension : mpeg-2 program stream
    Video Encoder
    - format M2V
    - Width and Height: Automatic
    - Pixel aspect ratio: Default
    - Aspect ratio: Automatic Selected 16:9
    - Average data rate: 34 (Mbps)

  • Progressive Field Dominance vs Lower Field Dominance

I am putting a project together in FCP 5.1.4 Most assets are NTSC QT clips with lower field dominance. I have some PAL assets with Progressive field dominance. I am using a slow-PAL conversion method outlined here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/49306/2006/02/marchcreat.html
I just want to make sure my workflow is appropriate.
If I use Cinema Tools to convert frame rate to 23.98 and then Compressor to change aspect ratio, and finally FCP to add frames back in to arrive at 29.97 NTSC . . .
DO I NEED TO change the progressive field dominance to lower field dominance at ay point?
I will ultimately be outputting to DVD which may be viewed on either computer or video monitor.

From my rudimentary knowledge I believe that as opposed to upper or lower field dominance, the source asset was recorded as "progressive scan", which I assume means NO field dominance.
What I do not understand is, if I import assets into a FCP sequence that has a lower field dominance, then what happens to these assets in the timeline when I export them out of FCP to either mpeg2 for inclusion in a DVDStudioPro. Or as a compressed quicktime for a streaming video on the web.
I am concerned that progressive scan assets mixed with lower field dominance may cause weird interlacing artifacts when I ultimately playback the end project.
Don't know whether I'm overthinking this, but want to avoid hours of work in the wrong direction.
    Help?

Do you have quicktime installed? It use to have to have it, I am not sure if that is true any more, now that the media encoder is included. It could also be due to your version is a trial version. It may be lacking a key feature that would be installed in the full version. (just guessing)

  • Video quality as low/high/HD

How to provide a video quality as Low, Medium, High and HD in flash actionscript. Thanks in advance..

Usually when discussing video quality, the "quality" is more or less a measurement of the amount of data that needs to continually flow into the video player to provide an uninterrupted display of the video. This is the video "bitrate".
So to provide 3 different "quality" videos, you need to provide 3 different video files, each rendered at a different bitrate (or displayed at different dimensions... see discussion below).
    For example
    Low: 400kbps
    Medium: 1000kbps
    High: 2500kbps
There is really nothing Actionscript can do to produce any of those. Controlling the bitrate is done in the video editing or transcoding software. Then you could create controls or buttons in actionscript to select between the separate video files.
More about video bitrate from this old post:
    Video bit rate
One of the principle of goal setting is to "Begin with the end in mind". In this case it'll be very hard to give good recommendations because the end is not defined. So I'll just make a few assumptions and you can correct me as needed.
First, I'll assume that since you are converting to Flash, you want to deliver this video over the Internet. If that's true, then we'll have to make some assumptions on the Internet connection download speeds of your potential viewers. Let's just say that most have at least a 1.5Mb connection or faster.
OK, that would mean that a video bitrate of half that should usually provide a video download that is not interupped by buffering (most of the time anyway). So assuming a video bitrate of 750kbps, what would the optimum display dimensions be?
Before we decide, here's a little info about bitrate. For highest quality playback, the video bitrate is tied directly to the display dimensions. That is, the larger the display, the more incoming data is required to properly display the video. Think of bitrate in terms of a can of paint. If you have 1 quart of paint, you might be able to do a very nice job on a 32 X 24 foot area. But if you try to stretch that same amount of paint out over a 64 X 48 foot area, the coverage will not be nearly as good and you get poor results.
In the same way, a video displayed at 640 X 480 pixels will require 4 times the bitrate as a video displayed at 320 X 240 pixels to produce the same quality. So for example a video with a bitrate of 100kbps, displayed at 160 X 120 will produce the same quality results as a video with a bitrate of 1600kbps if displayed at 640 X 480.
So to boil it all down, video bitrates of 750kbps, even up to 1000kbps can usually get delivered of the Internet on most high speed connections. Higher bit rates may work for really fast connections but will cause problems for viewers with slower connections. Video display size has a direct bearing on the final quality. In the 750 to 1000kbps range, display size should be kept around 450 or 500 width max (and whatever height the aspect ratio calls for). Yes it can be displayed larger, but the quality will suffer.
Sound like your audio settings are fine, especially for Internet delivery.
As for framerate, maintain the original raw video framerate for best results. So if the video was shot at 24fps, leave it.
As for video converters, do you have the Flash 8 Video Converter? It works just fine for video to be delivered over the Internet. Remember, you are taking a Cadillac version of video (h.264 HD) and stuffing it into a Chevy body to get it to work over the Internet.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator

  • BAPI_TRIP_CREATE_FROM_DATA Fill in all required entry fields

    Dear community,
We are trying to use the function "BAPI_TRIP_CREATE_FROM_DATA" for a new customer program to create trips for the employees. When we try and use this function to create trips, it returns an error message saying "Fill in all required entry fields".
We check the ABAP code and found out that the WBS element was not being correctly imported to the screen, thus giving the error message (because the WBS is a mandatory field).
We have already checked some SAP notes regarding this issue, and only found one regarding the WBS ELEMENT field name, but that note is already implemented.
We discovered a program called "RPTTIZ_BAPI_TEST" and used it to check what we were doing wrong. But, also this program gives the same error message when we executed:
BAPI Test: Import Trip, Delete Trip, Recreate Trip

Everything went okay, except the creation of the trip. We found out that it was because of the WBS ELEMENT field.
Do you know if this BAPI is obsolete or not in use anymore?
Does anyone has an example or an idea for whats happening?

    Hi ,
Kindly let me know how to make the Field visible in ESS Portal screen after making change in V_T588MFPROPC.
Because I am facing the Same problem but it is for IT-9(Bank Details) Subtype 5(Main Offcyle Bank) and Subtype 6(Other Offcycle Bank).
I have added the required fields in table V_T588MFPROPC, but not able to view those fields in ESS Screen, though I am sure it is considering those fields because for 2 Fields which I made mandatory , I am getting error in ESS Screen 'Fill in Required details', but only thing is not able to view the Fields on ESS Screen but getting error.
Kindly let me know , how can resolve the error.

  • How i can insert videos, export to pdf and then watch the video? i can't

How i can insert videos, export to pdf and then watch the video? i can't. It is suposse that i have to configurate the option save but i don't know how... any help?

    Fron the Pages Help menu:
    Using Sound and Movies
You can add audio—a music file, a playlist from your iTunes library, or any other sound file—to a Pages document. You can add video that plays within a page.
Pages accepts any QuickTime or iTunes file type, including the following:
    MOV
    MP3
    MPEG-4
    AIFF
    AAC
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you are using has permission to play all the media files included in your document.
When you add media files to your document, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure the option “Copy audio and movies into document” is selected in the Save window. (If you don’t see the option, click the button next to the Save field to display the entire Save window, and then click the Advanced Options disclosure triangle.)

  • I cannot watch any videos that require adobe flash player. I have tried to download their latest version but nothing happens. Any ideas? I can no longer even view my facebook videos.

I cannot view any video clips requiring adobe flash player such as my facebook videos. When I download the adobe flash player nothing happens and it continually says to download. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?  I am using MacBook Pro O SX. Thank you.

Just to check, in the directory /Library/Internet Plug-Ins do you see the file Flash Player.plugin?
And after reading your last post I have to ask, did you install the plugin after you downloaded it?  Of course anwering my first question will answer this question.

  • Can't find the "Protecting the RESTful Services" in the 'Required Scopes' field

When I following the ORDS 2.0.10 readme to configure Oracle Restful services, I can't find the "Protecting the RESTful Services" in the ‘Required Scopes’ field.
The detail step is in "Registering the 3rd party application" of section "Accessing the RESTful Services from a Third Party Application".
"Choose Gallery Access in the ‘Required Scopes’ field."
The above step I can't find any protected restful services.
But I have configured the "Gallery Access" successfully before.
    Thanks,
    Marvin
