Such thing as a ZIP application for our intels ???

I'm just starting the path of working with a Moodle, the Moodle program is downloaded to a host server I have...but, in general...sharing with others, do our systems have something equivalent to a ZIP application to compress a very large file such as a power point, for example...to attach to email, send to others, or upload?
What software download should one consider...freeware??

The first one will only expand, un-archive -- not create -- compressed files. That's not what he's looking for. But for that I would recommend The Unarchiver.

    Must add the never option to the time out period or the product is useless for navigation and other purposes where continual use is required.

    This should be an option in the General settings on your iPad. The option is called Auto-Lock. There should be the following options: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and Never.
    If you select Never, that should stop the screen from going to sleep automatically. If the Never option is not present, you more than likely have a Exchange account synced with the device that does not allow that option. If that account is disabled, that option should show.

  • What Web Services application I can make for our school

    I am now making my final thesis project which named "Web Services", the objective of our project is to learn about Web Services and then make an application for our school.
    Though we have learnt lots of theories about Web Services, except deploye some simple services on certain server for instance using Axis, we still have no idea about what Web Services can do and how to implement it in a real case.
    Our school has several kinds of students(Electronics, Bio, EM,and etc.), what the school aready has are: An existing database contains all the imformation of students and interrelated information of courses, professors. And there outside is an Extranet, forming of jsp pages providing different information and functions to different users, for instance an ICT student, after sign in with his user name and password , can check his personal course schedule, query his reasult sheet, read emails, join in some discussions of activities and courses and etc.
    So is there anyone can give me some tips on what application we can do for our school? And If the infomation I mentioned above is not enough, please do not hesitate to tell me,
    It's urgent since we have to finish the whole thesis project before June!

    We have designed our own Data Acquisition Hardware...earlier we were developing GUI application using VC++ for that hardware..

    if possible then how to communicate with our hardware....(how to send & receive commands b/n appln software & our hardware)

    Absolutely. By all means.. NI software tools are not used exclusively with NI products, although in most cases, you'll appreciate that
    You can create your own custom GUI in LabView or LabWindows-CVI (if you are more familiar with C/C++ and need to create instrument drivers). The benefit of using LabView is to be able to create a custom GUI and the tests quickly. You have all the choices for communication (Serial port,parallel port,ethernet,USB).
    LabView is designed with the end-product in mind, however, you will have to prepare your protocols (drivers). I typically create them using LabWindows-CVI as wrapper functions, but if you can communicate to your product directly using software like HyperTerminal or using a TelNet session, then you can communicate with the product by simply using LabView. Even parallel port communication is simple.
    To answer your question on how communication is accomplished, you will have to let us know the following:
    1. what version of LabView that you are using?
    2. how do you "manually" communicate your your product at the moment?
    3. what is your preferred communication method? (Serial port,parallel port,ethernet,USB)
    4. do you have existing communication protocols?
    5. how did you try to configure the channels? can you provide a brief explanation?
    The GUIappln jpeg can be created using LabView. Let's start with the questions above.

    Have you ever thought of providing the ask tom application/functionality as a sample application on html db studio?
    I would appreciate this as i'm searching for an easy to manage framework for publishing answers to questions, providing technical news information and rss-integration. This would be a good point to start.

    What is the appstore rejection issue? It is best not to pay too much attention to what you read on internet media outlets as they are typically full of lies.
    Food is the easy part. You cannot use Apple's payment systems for physical products. You must do that yourself using whatever system you have. Advertising is trickier. You talked about pizza and food and then slipped in that little tidbit. Why?
    The bottom line is that the only people who get their apps rejected are people trying to scam either Apple or Apple's users. Sadly, not enough of them get rejected. You know if you are trying to scam someone or not. If so, then your chances of rejection are higher. When in doubt, consult Apple's In-App Purchase guidelines.

  • Favicon.ico image does not display consistently for our application,

    We have configured a favicon.ico for our application as below code snippet and referring to the favicon.ico image correctly. The icon file is available in our war file post deployment. The problem is some times it displays correctly and sometimes it does not display correctly.

    Browser caching might be a problem, but we can't help as it is a browser issue. All I can say is to clear the browser cache and see if the problem can be reproduced. If yes it doesn't look like a browser problem. Then you have to check if you are connection via proxy which might cache images too. Ask your network admin for help then.
    Do you see this problem only with one browser? Have you check other browsers?

  • Is there such a thing as to much memory for my macbook pro?

    I wanted to buy this caddy and install a SSD where my dvd/cd drive is. just curious is there such a thing as to much memory? I dont want to mess up my motherboard  or fry anything. The youtube video i saw has a guy swapping out his Dvd/cd drive with a ssd and his macbook pro (which is same model as mine) had no problems just want a second opinion. Right now I have a 730gb HD

    If I were you, since you'll want the SSD to be the boot drive, I would install the SSD in the current HD bay and put the spinning drive in the optical bay. MacBook Pros have a preference for the boot drive to be in the main bay and you're just asking for trouble if you install it in the optical bay.
    I didn't look at your Amazon link, but I can recommend OWC's Data Doubler - likely higher in price than your Amazon choice, but I don't know of anyone who has had problems with them.
    And, no, there's no such thing as too much storage space!

  • Suggested Licensing for our applications

    This is my first post, so this will seem like a very inexperienced question. I'm currently evaluating the purchase of Oracle 10g Standard for our company. It is a relatively small company. One of our applications has 12-20 concurrent users accessing the database at a time, but on a very light level (that's the most widely used application).
    I'm curious as to what licensing options we should consider, and what are the limitations. Does a "5 Named Users" mean that all application users wont be able fetch the data at the same time? Or does that type of licensing refer to the quantity of "accounts" (user1, user2, user3) we may have on a server? Currently all users connect under the same account for each application (we create an account per application and provide appropriate access to the required database for each), so we have around 6 different accounts.
    We are using SQL Server at the time, but we are starting to see the need for increased performance since one of our applications is what we consider data-intensive (when compared to our company size). Our server has two Xeon processors, does that mean that a "Named Users" License wont apply?
    When the suggestion of using Oracle appeared, a co-worker expressed that he understood that, while the cost of the DBMS is affordable, the required hardware is too costly. I tend to differ. Im assuming that I will be able to host the Database Server in our existing hardware. Am I correct?

    2x Xeon 3.0Ghz
    4GB DDR2
    Dell Rack Server PE2650
    Raid 1 and Raid 5 (around 200GB)

    Your machine should work fine. However, I would not use Standard edition, I would use Standard Edition ONE which is specifily restricted to machines with a maximum of 2 processors. The costs follow.
    If you want to pay a single fee for unlimited use of the database, then you would pay $5000.00 US dollars. If you want to pay per person then it would be $149.00 per person with a minimum of 5 people. Named users mean that if you have 20 employees that use the database, then you need to purchase 20 licenses even if only 5 users at a time would access the database.     If you are ordering subscriptions for various people in your office, it would be best to sign up under their Adobe IDs, so they can log in and use the subscription with their own credentials.   • What is the best email application for OSX

    I have installed/purchased several applications for my MBP and MBA and most are acceptable (not great). But, all I've triedhave the same shortcoming.  That shortcoming is the poor perception that the user wants to drain all of the unread emails from the server onto the hard drive.
    Most modern email clients allow the user to choose a logical limit on the emails that is sync'd/downloaded automatically.  The Apple email client and Sparrow email client both fail to consider that the current thiking is not all that different than the thinking in the early 90's and that is "USE THE NETWORK (or fancy name - cloud) TO KEEP THE MASS DATA.  ONLY DOWNLOAD THAT WHICH IS NEEDED/DESIRED".
    Well, maybe our wonderful Apple users out there have researched this and located a modern email client (one that is at last up to the 20th century) and allows the user the choice not to get 53Gb if email when he just wants to answer the current threads of conversation.

    To touch on a general point... I find that seldom do I represent a unique case, just the most vocal or ahead of the curve.  Often because I know a lot about many computer and phone related things (since I have been an engineer for excess of 30 years and have had many hobbies that take my knowledge back to mid 70's)
    Related to some of your suggestions:
    - If I wanted to have a copy of the email archived then this would not be a problem. But it is still a copy and replicated.
    - I seldom get SPAM, this is email related to consulting, training, running a few groups, hobby groups, ... It is a small portion since the email address was drained by a poor email client in 2004 and I have had several accounts prior.
    - The exact issue is this:
         - I have LOTS of email on a server
         - There is no need to get ALL that email onto any one client since it is accessible from them all while on the server. Any object oriented person knows a copy is not a copy.
         - When I click on an email address in an application (such as a brwoser) I would like to open a functional email client
         - OSX has inconsistent results when a browser tries to be the email client (so does Windows - but less often)
         - When I use my email client on non OSX systems I can get the current emails and work with them alone (not all the email is on the system, slowing it down, consuming hard disk space, ...)  Modern clients DO THIS.
         - When I need to access historical emails then I will happily use the webmail client and access the mass
    So, let's take a different look at this and observe the current press by industry to get the users reliant upon "cloud services" to access their data.  Well, the behavior of downloading the lot to the hard drive is contrary to getting the public hooked on paying for access to their own data.  So, realistically it is in the best financial interest of a company that wants to build a reliance upon connected resources to leave the data where it resides and not share their profits with hard disk manufacturers.
    But, honestly... I just want a simple and useful feature that is quite old to be in a simple application on my modern computer.  Why? because it is simple and useful and the way I have done email correspondence at least since POP3 introduced the "last" command in 1993 and subsequently replaced by the UIDL mechanism.  Yet, it is not available in any OSX apps I can find and is in most apps on other OS'.  I really dislike using a VM to read my email the right way and jumping between OSX and the VM when I want to click on an email address to send a mail.  Move me ON TO my OSX not away from it when I search for simple and basic functionality.

  • Is there such thing as a "pre-action"?

    I'm wondering if there is such thing as a "pre-action" that would get executed before a page is displayed rather than an action that gets executed as a result of submitting a form?
    For example, I have an application that has 3 pages. Page 1 submits to page 2 and page 2 submits to page 3. I want to make it so that a user couldn't just access pages 2 or 3 without going through the preceding pages.
    I'm thinking of creating a bean property something like page1Validated that would return a boolean. Then, have a check so that if page1Validated isn't true, if the user attempts to access page 2 directly (which normally, they shouldn't), it redirects them to page 1.
    So, basically, I want to have some conditional code that runs before the page is executed that optionaly does a redirect to another page.
    I'm thinking that I could do this using a servlet filter. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Is using a filter the recommended approach to solving this problem?

    Another thing that I need to figure out is how to prevent the user from attempting to access the page as a .jsp rather than a .faces file (I have a servlet mapping to map all requests for *.faces to the Faces Servlet). I used to put all my .jsps in the WEB-INF directory to handle this back when I was implementing my own contoller. I asked this question previously, but, never received a response.

  • Can we create an overarching Apple ID for discovery/managing/playing content for our pre-K kid?

    I own several for work—and personal Apple devices and have been using one Apple ID to discover, manage and play content. This content consists of items that are (1) work based (2) personal based (3) family/child based (e.g. Monsters Ink).
    I purchased an iPad Mini for my husband at Christmas, and he purchased an Apple TV for the family— and now we are perplexed at how to manage assets that are "family" based without purchasing them twice. Essentially want apps, movies and music related to our pre-K son on both of our devices. Otherwise managing this will quickly become a nightmare of who owns what on which decive.
    Can anyone recommend how to do this?

    An iDevce can containt content for multiple Apple ID's, there is no reason to purchase content multiple times.
    There is no such thing as "sub" accounts.
    Simply manage the content on the devices.
