Sudden Battery drainages on two independent iPhones simultaneously

Hello,
During the last few days I've experienced episodes of fast battery drainage on two different iPhone4.
The battery drainage that has started occuring (at different paces / periods of the day) is markedly more rapid than compared to normal "heavy usage".
E.g. a nearly fully charged phone suddenly is "dead" in the morning.
This has started occurring on two different iPhone4s.
Thus I interpret the reason to be IOS 5.0.1 (built in apps or settings, iCloud or something else) or some other apps that cause this to be happening now.
The latest IOS software, iCloud and Exhange accounts are running as usual, but this has never been a problem before.
So I guess that it might be some minor setting feature, e.g. reminders settings, or some other iCloud connectivity / data-worksessions, GPS activity (hidden) that could be causing background drainage.
I don't know.
Any suggestions on how to figure out. And please do not suggest that exchange sevices with push, iCloud ON etc. should be turned off - it has worked fine without battery drainage till now.
Kind regards,
Martin

Theoretically, any app that uses "push" technology (more and more will with OS3) may be causing the problem. Try disabling all "push" apps and see if it helps. I referred to Exchange Email, only because toggling push on and off impacted the problem absolutely.
Did a restore to "new phone" fix the problem? If so, you can try what I did which is to load each app directly to phone and see if it causes the failure to charge and heat.

  • Sudden battery drainage!

I'd like to know the suggestions of all of you regarding my iphone4 sudden battery drainage. My replaced iphone4 seems like it's working fine.
But the problem always appears whenever my iphone4 battery turns around 23%-25%. Whenever I press the sleep/wake button when the battery is at around 23-25%,the battery indicator changes suddenly from 25% to 20% (23% to 19%). It's draining about 5% at a time.I have no idea about that problem. I did restore my phone but no changes happen. My old iphone4 had that kind of problem but the area that the sudden drainage occured is around 60 or 62%.
Does someone experience like my phone problem?
    Any suggestion to fix?
    Thanks for your time! =)

It is low based on your usage levels... At least you do have a later OS version.
Depending on how you upgraded, it may be that something went wrong during the upgrade, so it may be worthwhile to reload the OS. You can do that using the steps here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
When restoring your data, just to be safe, choose to do a selective restore and just pick the things you need (e.g. Address Book, Calendar, Messages, etc). Like this, you'll be sure that you aren't transfering a potential problem back to your BB.
Try that and then let me know how that goes.

  • Will fake cable cause sudden battery drainage on Iphone 4s?

My battery work perfectly fine. Due to original cable broken, i purchased a fake one. After that battery only lasts only 3 hours maximum. Please help.

The iPhone is NOT user serviceable.  By putting in a new battery, you have not only voided your warranty with apple, but you have forfeited any rights to service on that phone forever, including help from this forum.
You'll need to look elsewhere for assistance, perhaps ifixit.com.

  • Battery Life on two 3G iPhones has dropped dramatically since 3.1 update...

    Hello all!
I couldn't find a thread with just this problem, so I thought I would start it. My wife and I both have iPhone 3G 16GB phones and using the same apps as before, our battery life has dropped to less than a day for both of us. I would estimate the change as approximately 1/2 of what it was before the 3.1 update. This is in addition to not getting 10% battery life left warnings (we both still get 20% battery life left warnings) and random shutdowns on both phones. Neither of us has added any apps since update to 3.1, so we're using the phones the same way as before the update. Both updates on the phones went without problems.
The only thing I have noticed is when the battery gets to about 50% left on the icon, it seems to drop very quickly. The battery life has definitely dropped noticably, but this is an apparent symptom of that problem. I guess it is possible that it drains at a faster rate for some reason once it reaches 50% remaining, but I can't prove that. It appears that way however, on the battery icon.
If there are any other threads about this issue, please let me know, and I'll post a +2 phones to that list.
    Thanks!
    Jim

Well, my iPhone 3G too started to loose battery duration and drop just after a 50% usage, but mine has the push activated, even if configured only on the 'manually' option (and I consulted the iCal only one time today, and one time my emails). I started checking with the push set to update every hour (the iPhone lasted 'til 6:30 p.m.), then set it to manual (now the iPhone lasts 'til 8:30 p.m.), while before the update it lasted until 11:30 p.m. at least, with push set to manual, too. Tried deactivating wifi (no changes at all), and have no third-party apps with push option activated, either.
Oh, the 3G signal has full bars strength, so no problems in reception under that point of view.

  • Problems with my new iPhone 5s : quick battery drainage & device getting too hot.

i just got a 64g Space Gray iPhone 5s yesterday and i noticed that the battery drainage was way too fast to be compatible with the longer battery life of iPhones. i have fully charged the battery three times in just 24hours even when i wasn't handling the phone much and i have tried to switch off any "applications" that might drain the battery. But then, why invest so much in a phone that you practically have to avoid using its functions??? The battery charge could suddenly jump from fully charged 100% to 93% in minutes then 65% in 45 - 60mins without doing any thing. It is so sad.
i also noticed that the body of the phone gets a little too hot for comfort, not the supposed warmth that might occur with use.
I don't know if i'm the only one experiencing this problem and i will appreciate your help as i bought this from a local store in my country and there is no APPLE STORE over here.
    Please Helpppppp!!!

Apple do not sell the iPhone in Nigeria ,you have an iPhone purchased in bulk from another Country
The warranty and ANY support for the iPhone from Apple will only be available in the country where the iPhone was purchased ,where ever that is ....................
Take it back to the  "local Store " it does not sound healthy
It may have been hacked to make it work in Nigeria with a local carrier

  • Battery drainage n iPhone getting hot while using video

    Battery-Drainage-heating-up-video-use/Facetime

    Hi mukk25,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be concerning when the temperature of the iPhone is warmer than you would expect. Please review the attached article for information on operating temperatures.
Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures
When using the device or charging the battery, it is normal for it to get warm. The exterior of the device functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the device to the cooler air outside.

  • Connecting 2 two devices at simultaneously?

Is it possible to connect the mac mini, simultaneously to an HD lcd TV and an Svideo projector?.
Currently, I am using teh adapter to connect to the projector via Svideo and the TV via composite video, but I really want to take advantage of the HDMI port on the TV.
    any ideas?

This question comes up in various guises quite often, and basically the answer is that at least without further 'intelligent' switching hardware or active video splitters, the only way you can hope to split the mini's output to two devices is if both those devices are set at the same resolution and do not create a signaling conflict when they communicate their identity to the system.
As such, it's very unlikely that a simple splitter would work, and the potential devices that might help are fairly expensive.
There has been talk recently of USB-based video output devices also, and such a thing would perhaps provide you with a viable alternative since that would give you two independent video outputs, but I don't think such a device has actually appeared on the market for MacOS users, complete with proven drivers, despite a number of companies promising such products in the near future.
You are certainly right I think to be interested in connecting to your TV using HDMI if that's available rather than composite. In my experience composite gives a very fuzzy picture in terms of MacOS output, though it's not so bad for DVD playback and FrontRow. HDMI, where the TV correctly supports it, is capable of much better quality at hi def.

  • Is it possible to play two audio files simultaneously.

    Hi,
Is it possible to play two audio files simultaneously.
I modified the 'SpeakHere' to play two audio files simultaneously, it worked perfectly on simulator but get hanged on iphone.
To this I implemented NSTimer, which regularly checks for both player instance every second. As soon as any player gets stopped Timer task stops the second one forcefully and again starts both.
    thanks.

    Hi Jay
Do you have the eLearning Suite? If so, you have Adobe Presenter available to you. If you don't, you should be able to download the Presenter installation file and evaluate it.
Presenter is an add in for PowerPoint. The neat thing about it is that it provides for a Table of Contents type of functionality as you see is configured in Captivate. But the twist with that is you are able to do something you cannot do in Captivate. You are able to insert videos inside the TOC area!

  • Running two wireless networks simultaneously

I am running two independent 802.11n 5GHz networks simutaneously. Each has a unique SSID. The first network is using channels 36 & 40 and the second network is using channels 44 & 48. When the first network is transmitting data and the second network attemps to transmit, the second network must wait until the first is finished and then start its transmission. If the first network then needs to transmit, it must also wait until the second network is finished. They keep flip-flopping back and forth. Is this normal? I know they have to wait until the "channel" is clear before they can transmit, but I'm using unique channels and unique SSIDs. Anybody have any idea what's happening and how to get around it?

I agree. The Draft N Standard does provide for a "speed drop and wait" period if another N network is running in the same area. I would "guess" that if there is any possible way you can do so - and of course only you know your circumstances, etc., so it may not be an option for some very good reason- consider combining your two units into one network with two accesspoints available on it. This will eliminate the "stop and wait" stuff, give you better coverage than the two separate networks, and be far less sensitive to various slow-downs, etc. If you reason for separating them is because you're isolating the non-N equipment on one network, if you're lucky enough that it's maybe just one or two printers and/or a computer or two - see if you can hardwire them either back to the AEBS N Units or to a powered hub that's then connected to the Base Stations. Getting the 801.11 B&G units off the air and onto hard wired connections will speed them up greatly, and eliminate any problems with these units slowing down your blazingly fast N-network access. I know it sure as **** did so for me. I had two printers (one w/ Ethernet and 1 with USB Only) and I migrated both of them to hard wired connection at the AEBS-N/g. The one non-N computer was literally beside the base station/cable modem anyway - so plugging it into ethernet was no problem at all. The result is that the remaining five or six computers with an "N-spec" card in them jumped in speed to where they can easily outrun anything my Time Warner Cable modem can ever hope to deliver. My whole network suddenly feels like it's hard wired vs airport. Amazing benefit for getting two printers and one aging computer onto ethernet and off the airports.
Good luck! But I am afraid that as long as your networks are seeing another "N" network in the area they're going to do this slow down and wait routine to avoid collision of data and retrys resulting from that.
    All the best,
    MI

  • Fast array building from two independent acquisitions

    Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out a way to build an array very quickly (up to 5 kHz) from two independent acquisitions.  For the two acquisitions I have a counter input from an encoder and a normal analog input, the purpose is to correlate with high resolution a position to an output voltage.  I can run each independently fast enough, but the problem I'm having is figuring out how to line up the two signals into a single array simultaneously and at a consistent rate (5 kHz) to write out to a file.  My first hack was to read the two outputs into a while loop clocked by a wait timer, but the best I think I can do there is a 1 millisec wait which gives me no better than 1 kHz.  Any ideas?  Hopefully something simple I'm overlooking.  Running LabVIEW 7.1 on a PCI-6036E card.  Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to use hardware timing on the DAQ card and acquire multiple samples on each scan.
If you're using DAQmx (and you really should be), change the Read VI to
acquire multiple smaples from multiple channels. This single VI can
scan both channels and output a 2D array with each channels data in one
    row of the array.
You'll also need to change your configuration setup to specify both channels and the smapling rate.
If you look in the Example Finder (Help menu>Find Examples...)
double click through "Hardware Input and Output">"DAQmx">"Analog
Measurments">"Voltage" you'll see several examples that do this sort
of measurment. Most of them only show how to acquire a single channel,
but can be easily modified to include a second channel.
Let us know if you need more help.

  • How to resolve battery drainage for 3GS on iOS 5.0.1?

I just bought a iphone 3GS from eBay. The seller upgraded it to iOS 5.0.1. It is working except the battery will decrease 10% every hour with aiplane mode on and I am not using it at the time. I attempt to downgrade it from iOS 5.0.1 to 4.3.3 using some jailbreak methods but failed due to I do not have 4.3.3 SHSH blob.
I have a iphone 3G with iOS 4.2.1 (non jailbreak) which can hold a fully charge for a few days with airplane mode off.
I suspect it is the firmware iOS 5 and up that causing the speedy battery drainage. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks !

    An update on this.
I traced the battery issue on having PUSH enabled for my old Exchange account.
Note I still have another exchange account + yahoo + icloud  + gmail all with Push enabled, and the battery is perfectly fine now.
So the whole issue seems related to a recurrent synchronization problem. However it is hard to diagnosis this when the only entry on the log remains the 2s recurrent phone-global message:
Client[com.apple.persistentconnection[dataaccessd,54]] is telling PDP context 0 to goactive.
I agree one must hide technical complexities in the name of user friendliness, but adequate (deep) error reporting remains important ... at least for those users that the technical know how and will to dig deeper.
