Sudden no sound, no metering. Nothing is soloed or muted.

I was working on a project that I have been working on since March. I have had no problems at all. I turned on monophonic flex time for a vocal track and the next thing I knew, there was no sound or metering. I immediately pressed undo until kingdom come and it didn't help my problem whatsoever. No, there are no flashing mute buttons. NOTHING is soloed.
I am so mind boggled.  I've never been so angry at a Mac before. Some help would be highly appreciated:)

My phone was sitting on the table, with nothing turned on, and all of a sudden it sounds like there is air coming out of my speakers.  It does this for 1 minute straight, then will stop. When I pick it up, then set it back down, it does it again.

No nothing will show up on the screen.. If I push the 'home' center button it continues doing it, same with the sleep/wake button.
I thinking it may be static out of my speakers --but I don't understand why all of a sudden it is dong this. I have had no problems with this phone, until now.

    Hello, Miryam Maria.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see you are experiencing issues with sound on applications when playing video/audio content.  If this is the case, the first thing I would check is if the side switch is set to silent as this can cause applications to be mute.  Below I have included an article that covers adjusting the  settings for the side switch.  Also, make sure to close all applications in Multitasking and power cycle the device.  Test the sound issue after processing these steps.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Suddenly no sound in Youtube

I'm using MacOs 10.6.8. Flash player 11.8.800.168. For no apparent reason suddenly the sound doesn't work in Youtube. I turned the sound On, Sound off, On again, restarted the computer, Deinstalled Flash player, Installed again, tried turning of/off the settings (storage), installed in Firefox the add-on 'youtube flash to html 5'. Nothing works. I use Firefox 24 and safari 5.1.10. Sound in vimeo works fine, but apparently that doesn't use flash.(?)

That's because the sound is now muted, by default, on all Youtube videos.  Whether this is a glitch on Youtube's part or was done deliberately by them, no one knows, since Google, which owns Youtube, hasn't released any information about this to the general public.  (They HAVE acknowledged that the problem is on their end on the various Google "help" forums,.)
In any event, to un-mute the volume, hover your cursor over the very tiny and hard to spot speaker icon which appears in the menu bar of the video screen.  (It will have an "x" by it indicating the volume is muted.)   A volume slider control will then appear next to the speaker when you move your cursor in the area.  Click on the slider and move it to the right.
ALSO SEE:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5738852#5738852  for an image of what I'm talking about.
Depending on your cookies settings, etc., you may have to do this for every video you watch.

So this morning, the sound on my MacBookPro was working perfectly, but then all of the sudden, the sound didn't work. When i turned the volume up, it showed it turning up, but there was no noise. I also tried plugging in my earphones, and it still didn't work. I don't know what to do!!

Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and  remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

  • MuVo V100 suddenly distorts sound output, hates vocalists

9MuVo V00 suddenly distorts sound output, hates vocalists Greetings. I have a MuVo V00, which until quite recently has worked according to specifications as desired. After a period of nonuse, upon reinstatement it showed a global distortion in sound output, resulting in--impressi'vely--vocal frequency-range portions of files to be suppressed. Never mind that some music was improved in this way--it is an error that needs rectification, and unfortunately MuVo V00 models are past the End of Service Life.
I have downloaded the firmware patcher, and reapplied the latest firmware (which I had already had on the device, but consensus in various problem threads here leads one to believe that refreshing the firmware is a borderline panacea). No good. Swapped batteries on a hunch, no good. Swapped headphones, no good. Checked the files that are actually on the disk, they sound like they ought when played through the computer's means. I'm low on ideas, and the last person who asked this question here did not receive a reply. Anything spring to mind?

  • Sound and Metering disappears after edits are made.

I recently got a software update for Logic, and since then a new project i started has been acting very strangely.
I play my material and whilst playing, if i move a region or change automation, the sound and metering disappears.
I have checked I/O and audio setups.
This issue also only started happening while had already made some progress on the project.
Any other news of this with the new update??

My project contains instrument tracks, audio tracks and midi tracks and some automation.
When I make a change to any of the regions in the arrange window....move, copy or delete a region (not editing the regions content), or add or change automation, the sound drops out, and no levels on the meters can be seen.... but the playhead keeps moving.
Now..... If I add new regions, this new content (midi or audio) can be heard and will be metered, but still none the other regions will be heard.
If i now cut/delete ALL of my regions and then paste/undo the action, ALL of my regions will now be heard again (and metered).
Yet, attempting to now make another change to any region will result in sound dropping out again.
    Does this help?
What on earth is going on??

Try double tapping the movie clip itself when inserted in the timeline and ensure that sound is on on the actual clip on the movie time line.

Hi, I've Mac Book Pro 15" with Retina display. Yesterday suddenly the sound output from my Headphone is not working. When I tried to solve this, I've noticed in system preferences it's jumping from Internal speakers to Head phone and vice versa. Can anyone help me on this issue please? I am using the original Apple Headset only.

I see that your Question has languished for some period of time without response. You have posted your issue in Using Apple Support Communities whose topic is 'How to use this forum software's interface, features and/or how to find what you wish'. It is a relatively low traffic and inappropriate forum for your problem. I will ask our Hosts to move it to " MacBook Pro " where it may get a more rapid response from your fellow users.

Since you don't say how old your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • On restart I get the expected boing start up sound and then nothing

Was using the computer just fine. When I rec'd the software update notice, I clicked OK, and upon restart, I get the boing sound and then nothing. A black screen. Is this the mother board? Hard drive? Something else?
    Thx

I never just install an update when it presents itself.
    Some common tips and recommendations:
Reboot - even in Safe Mode
Close all programs at the least and don't run anyting
    Backup and clone your system
Repair your system and clone with Disk Warrior first
Use the combo update whenever possible
Apple has improved the updater and process with 10.5.5+.
When you ask us, I prefer to see "I installed (fill in blank but "security update" or quicktime or whatever it was you actually did).
Some would also recommend running Repair Permissions first.
"Normally" it should work. In real life, we need preventative medicine.
