Sudden Satellite Problems

Hi, I had been given two Toshiba Satellite lap tops that both had a few issues. One of them had no card reader or working USB ports, so it's practical use is compromised, the other had a faulty screen. (An image would apear but it was extremely dark and I could not adjust the contrast.)
I opened up the screen housing, disconected the wiring, then reconected the same screen and it worked perfectly. I then installed Skype on the lap top and a couple days later I started noticing a lot of problems all of the sudden.
Drivers:
-Audio driver registered as not found, I could not adjust volume or hear sound. I checked the driver in "devise manager" and it was reported to be functional. The Ralitech driver program was also in the program menu on "change or remove programs" I tried turning on the lap top again and now sound works.
-Card Reader does not register that it has a driver when a SD card is inserted. It asks me to locate the driver by searching the internet or inserting a CD... again the drivers are functional according to devise manager
-USB ports do not work. Every devise I put in (except one Flash Drive) promps me for a driver for the device, my USB drive and external hard drive do not come with CDS and the locator function through the internet does not have any results.
-Some other problems is that it often runs start up repair scripts, and once went through a command prompt like process of checking and repairing system files.
-There is also a quite frequent and anoying system beep, that sounds about every 15 seconds during startup and every once in a while durring normal operation
-Charging the battery is also very dificult. I have to mess with the connection between the lap top and charging cord to get a conection, and it is very touchy, the end of the cord looks undamaged and this is also a new problem.
I dont know what is going on, I would like to get this laptop working well enough that I can use it without worry. I dont see how any of this could happen from me taking off the screen, but that is the only major change I made with the system.
If it helps at all, I would really like to down grade this system to XP, but I need to get some files off of it first.

I hooked up camera to my G4 tower (iMovie 3.03) and everything worked perfectly. I went back to the iBook and had the same problem.
No Final Cut installed.
Tried exporting with "play back via camera" preference checked and unchecked with the same results. (it is unchecked on my G4 tower)
The strange thing is that the iBook recognizes the camera perfectly. It imports video, plays back to the computer and the iMovie application controls the existing video on the camera flawlessly until I try to export the movie to the camera. Then I get the error message. If I go back to try and control the camcorder from the iMovie application window by clicking on the camera icon, iMovie crashes.

ThinkPad Edge 13" sudden BATTERY problem

Hi, i am starting to be desperate, therefore i registered myself here. Let me explain my story.
My computer is now almost 2 years old and I have less than 14 days till the warranty expires (I am from Europe), but I'd like to avaid this, because i really need my computer now, not after 30 days, which is by law designated time till which it must be returned to me back. I did not have to use my computer outside home for about 3 month, so I was using that during that period as desktop computer, where i set in lenovo power manager, that all energy should be taken from the AC adaptor letting the battery to deplete itself in its own pace. But i have taken my computer to the libraries lately and i have experienced sudden battery problems. Let me describe them in order as it happened.
1) battery shows that that it has more than lets say 20% of power, but windows power manager warns me that battery capacity is in reality 6% and i need to use my AC adaptor now. after second even lenovo power manager recognize the fact that battery is almost depleted. first i did not pay attention, i thought it was some temporary bug and it will not be repeated again.
2) unfortunatelly it was, therefore i updated lenovo power manager to current version (6.11), which realized that current battery capacity was not 54Wh (as before update), but 47Wh. Therefore I resetted battery gauge statting that battery capacity is now slightly over 51Wh. For couple of days everything was as it should (probably, because i always connected AC adaptor around 10% of remaining battery).
3) now my problem appeared again, though battery depleted naturally and slowly to 10%, after that windows power manager popped again showing, that battery is 6% and I need to use my AC adaptor. after connecting to electricity whole W7 froze for a while. I rather restarted system after which I realized, that battery info is wrong again - original capacity of battery since i have this laptop was over 62Wh, now is slightly over 57Wh (this is something new i have not realized this 2 days ago, when i was doing the reset, and I'd bet i happened just now) and current battery capacity rose back to 54Wh (as I said before, after the last reset it was just 51Wh).
I attemted to do Battery test through Toolbox, but system refuse to run this test (even after resterting system) stating "Cannot run".

but FRU number of my laptop is 42T4813 and is not in the list of batteries requireing update.

PS: i always install updates throught System update, my BIOS should be therefore up to date, i also Lenovo Power manager does not offer any update for battery firmware.

After todays restart original baterry capacity is restored back to 62+Wh, But current capacity is still 54Wh, higher than after last battery reset. I am upgrading to higher version of Power Manager.

look people, i may have a solution for this. This happened to me a few times before and resolved alone, but last time it happened was when i turned off my router and back on while my comp was running and appeared when i tried opening firefox after that. so wat i did was i shutdown the computer and the router and tried turning both on again, and it resolved.
Therefore, Summary: Shutdown computer then turnoff router then turn both back on
Hope this helps anyone.

Sudden printing problems with scanned pdf documents

Hi, I suddenly experience problems when I want to print scanned pdf documents.
Since 2 years, I am using an iMac with a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M and a Samsung ML-2525W. I also use Acrobat Pro 9.0 provided with the scanner. I scan documents, save them as pdfs and print them. Worked fine until just recently. If I print scanned pdf documents, the printer give white pages. Other pdf documents get printed without problems.
I use OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) and ScanSnap Manager 3.2.L63.
Any advice is highly appreciated

Hi Roger - the problem was going from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. That is when all of the printing problems began, as well as the wifi getting flaky. I was able to get the iMac speaking politely to the printer by installing Repair 10.6.8 and re-adding the Canon printer (see below):
Printer “failure”
Probably the single most common 10.6.8 problem, at least as evidenced by a massive 17 page thread in Apple Support Communities, is a failure to print. The typical symptom is that the printer driver software pauses, displaying a message that states something like: “printer-state-message="/usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed" or “/usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed.” Not all printers have this problem, but users report seeing the symptom in a variety of different printers.
As is often the case with update-related problems, reinstalling 10.6.8 from the combo updater may eradicate the symptom. Another possible solution is modifying a printer file in the /etc/cups/ppd directory (as detailed in the above-linked thread).
Unfortunately, none of these solutions are guaranteed to work. What does reliably fix the problem is to downgrade back to 10.6.7. If you’d rather stick with 10.6.8, you can instead downgrade just the quartet of printer-related files that appear to be the root cause of the symptom. These are the socket, dnssd, lpd and ipp files, located in the /usr/libexec/cups/backend directory.
A Mac user wrote an application, Repair10.6.8 (direct download link), that automatically downgrades these four files for you. Several users report success with this program. After running the Repair app, you may also need to “reset printing system” by selecting the command from the contextual menu for the printer name in the Print & Fax System Preferences pane.

All of a sudden Satellite A200 will re-boot

Hi all, I own a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop and I am having issues with it re-booting all the time.
I have re-installed windows 7 and everytime i do any work, all of a sudden the laptop will re-boot.
Could the problem be a bad battery?

The possible reason(s) that computers restarts are:
1. Os related issue
2 Hardware related issue
As you already mentioned, you have already reinstalled Os but it still happens. so, it may concern the hardware issue. The Cpu overheating, motherboard, power supply unit malfunction can be the reason. before all, I advise you to clean it with air spray. If your laptop is out of warranty, you can disassemble it and check if the Cpu sits well and thermal grease haven't dried out. The battery (power unit) can be also a troublemaker.
Anyway, If you don't have some skills, don't disaasemble it and contact the service center

Sudden airport problem - due to new networks in the building?

I've been using my airport extreme network for some time, without any problems. My macbook suddenly stopped recognising the network - although my iphone and other computers continue to use it without any problems.
The network name no longer appears in the drop down Airport Extreme menu, although several other networks in the building do.
Strangely, this seems to have occurred just as several other people have moved into the building and set up their own, new, non-airport extreme wifi networks.
Is there anything I can do to force my macbook to re-recognise my own wifi network? I've tried clicking "other..." on the drop down menu and then typing in my network's details, without any success.
Switching everything on-and-off hasn't helped either.

Just yesterday, I've been hit with the problem of a sharpening and or noise issue in develop and exporting? I'm confused to why all of a sudden this problem has happen. I've been using lightroom 5 for months with no issue's till now

I've not changed or done anything different than I have for over a year now and all of a sudden I realized when I printed a photo it was blurry?
So looked into exported photo in my library on PC and it also was blurry. Then went back to lightroom it also in LR library and in develop is blurry?
I'm stumped as to why it just isn't working as it always has and what may be the problem?
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

What version of LR? There was a bug involving the application of Develop/Detail settings to some resized photos in LR 5.3 that was subsequently fixed.

Sudden menu problem in CS4: Running OS10 Mavericks. Anyone got a clue?

Cannot keep history and layers windows open simultaneously. Others likewise. By sudden I mean, one day it's fine, the next there's a menu problem. Assistance appreciated.

If you have placed your layout the way you want it, use the Save Workspace, give it a name, and only check Palette location in the Save dialog.
Then switch to another Workspace and back to your saved workspace to see if that fixes the problem.
Last resort is to reset Prefs. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift, start Photoshop and agree to the reset.

Acrobat Professional 8.1.3 driver? Sudden output problem

I often need to produce pdfs with printer's marks from Illustrator. Suddenly the output for a full full page is just the center of the page. (Still works fine for smaller work, e.g. business card size).
My guess is that the driver is corrupted but I can't find a fix or a place to download a new driver. I have tried deleting the current driver (1.1 or 3016.102) and then using fix/repair in the Acrobat program to reinstall it, but the same output error exists.
Can anyone help?

Sudden jpeg problem - help!

i've suddenly lost the ability to place jpegs in my freehand
documents from our server.
i have used the server for the last year with no problems -
nothing has been changed/updated recently.
i get a 'could not import because a disk error occurred'
message.
these are the same files that i've been placing in day after
day without any problems whatsoever until now.
these same files place in ok in illustrator or any other
program.
they also place in ok if i copy them to my local hard drive.
as you can imagine - this is a nightmare - any help would be
much appreciated.

Are you able to place jpegs that are located on your local
hard drive? If
so, something may have changed security settings for your
server.
If you can't place JPEG files from your local hard drive then
read further.
FreeHand relies on a plug-in called 'JPEG Import Export'.
Your plug-in may
have become corrupted or the OS directory may have simply
lost track of it.
First, use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permission.
If that doesn't solve the problem, then you may have to
reinstall FH or copy
the missing plug-in from another machine where FHMX is
installed.

Dragging tracks into playlists/ within playlists suddenly a problem (itunes version 12.1.2)

I updated to 12.1.2 april 15 (its may 4 today) and literally all of a sudden this morning I cannot drag and drop any tracks into playlists, within playlists, or to devices. I can add with the right click menu option but cannot drag. I have OS X 10.10.3 and I have not made any changes to the operating system or computer. I searched google and the itunes forum and can't find any explanation that applies to my situation. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it as quickly as possible?

i don't know... its about the most frustrating random itunes problem i've ever experienced. i still have no idea why it spontaneously started malfunctioning but i managed to "fix" it by restarting my computer... i have no idea why that seems to have worked. i saw it on a similar but not necessarily applicable thread and thought it was worth a shot before spending the next hour or so troubleshooting with apple. just looking at all the boards today trying to figure out how to fix this particular issue, there are literally so many different similar cases of so many problems with itunes that its become clear they need to start fresh... anyway, maybe see if a restart helps resolve the click and drag issue for you. good luck.

Sudden startup problem

My son's Satellite L300 purchased January 2, 2009 won't start up now. He was using it and put it in sleep mode and then it would not turn on. My son says "After awhile a blue screen came up, and it said that something with the BIOS drive was broken, and to restart the computer and press F8 and turn it on using safe mode. I did this, and the same blue screen came up again."
I tried starting it and I get a blue screen with 2 options. I started with system repair. Could not find the problem.
Any suggestions. Is this a hardware problem?

Gmail & Mail 3.0: Sudden new problems--can't receive or delete messages

For the last two days I've had very odd problems with Mail. They seemed to start out of the blue; the only thing new I've done in this time frame is get an iPhone, which I set up with imap/gmail (I installed Leopard long before these problems started). For a couple of days I was unable to send messages. Then suddenly last night I was able to send but now I can't receive or delete messages. Does anyone know what may be the problem and what to do? Thanks so much.

I'll add my sad story...
Since upgrading, one email account will not receive mail - says the server reject my password, although I can retrieve my mail from the web. It is a POP account, although I tried setting up another with the same settings but as an IMAP account, with no luck. Outgoing mail is fine and other accounts, such as .mac and gmail seem to work. Tried recreating the account as a new user (so no old preferences messing things up) and from a new mail program (Thunderbird), but still rejects my password. I will try from an 10.4 machine today to see if I can get my mail.

HP Pavilion d6 suddenly rebooting problem

I've got a Hp Pavilion d6-6780 with core i7 and ATI radeon hd 6770m GPU, Win 7 64bit and sometimes it restarts all of sudden (sometime it freezes and restars and soetimes it shows the blue screen of death before that ) it more happens while playing games, I checked the GPU temp with a fre system info softwares, some shows 0 degree of C and some other shows nothing. all drivers seems uptodate where do you think the problem is? thanks

Let me know if there is a Biometric device listed in your device manager?
Does the light display near the fingerprint reader?
How long have you been having the issue?
