Sudden Server Infrastructure Licensing errors SBS 2011 Standard install (10 months old)

The following errors began about a month ago and I can't figure out how to fix it.  I especially don't like that it states the server will be shut down in 22 days.  When I rebooted the server last week the problem went away for exactly 24 hours
then came back and seems to report every 4 hours.
Background:
Fresh SBS 2011 install last Dec. 7th (2012).
We did have an SBS 2003 server but it was never on the same network.  We simply backed up the data off of its data drive.  Exchange was backed up via OST to PST conversion then imported in.  Only 10 - 12 users.
HP ProLiant server and the SBS 2011 DVDs were OEM supplied by HP but we installed NOT pre-installed.
Thx,
D

  • Adding instance to SQL Server 2008 R2 on SBS 2011 Standard

I need to add an instance to my SQL Server 2008 R2 that is part of Small Business Server 2011 Standard operating system. When I click on "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation" I get another pop up
window asking for SQL Server 2008 Installation Media. Where can I find this installation media?

    Hi BruceR80,
According to your description, SQL Server installation center asks for SQL Server 2008 installation media and you don't know where to find it. This could happen when the temporary folder to which the installation file is extracted doesn't exist. You could
follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
1.In Microsoft Download Center, download the SQL Server 2008 installation file to your local drive and click the file, you will see that the file will be extracted to a temporary folder. Please make a note of what directory it is extracted to. For example,
it could be in c:\ followed by a folder name which will be a set of random letters and numbers "fd7667bgbb33gg2g".
2.Copy that temporary folder to your desktop and close the SQL Server Installation Center window.
3.Reopen SQL Server Installation Center. Click on the installation tab and install. When it asks for SQL Server 2008 installation media, browse to the instillation media folder(that temporary folder) which is copied to your desktop and continue the installation
    process.

  • "a network related or instance specific error in sql server 2008..." error in sbs 2011 standard.

    Hi All,
When we try to open "Sql Server 2008 R2" in SBS 2011.......... we are getting the error message" “A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify
that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 – Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) ”
How can we resolve the issue?

Hi Ram, you can check the solutions in the following links and see if that helps:

  • Expiring Exchange certs on a SBS 2011 Standard server

We have many servers running SBS 2011 standard. On one particular server (which just passed the three year mark this past weekend) we are seeing MSExchangeTransport Event ID 12015 and 12016, telling us that an internal transport certificate has expired.
Based upon research, using the Get-ExchangeCertificate command, I have found that there are five different thumbprints indicating certificates. We currently have a commercial 5 year cert for the web user interface and AD synchronization.
Looking at the results of Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl, I can see that the first certificate (server.domain.local) goes from 4/10/2014 to 4/10/2015, the second (remote.domainname.com) goes from 8/16/2011 to 8/16/2016 (this is the commercial cert), the third
goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/12/2021, the fourth (this is the thumbprint referenced in the 12015 error) goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/14/2013 and the fifth goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/14/2013.
Reviewing the event log shows that the fifth certificate (also expired) is never referenced.
Several accepted answers on technet and other sites show that running Fix My Network will correct the problem, but running FMN on this server just shows me that my DHCP server is not running (which it is) and it wants me to create a static IPv6 address (which
    it did not accomplish.)
What is the best way to fix a problem where important self-signed certificates expire after only two years?
    Randy
    MCP SBSC

    Hi Randy,
I suggest run following command to get Self-signed certificate on your Exchange 2010 server:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
Please collect the certificate which "IsSelfSigned" parameter value is True.
If it is not expired, please binding the existing certificate with IIS and SMTP service. Detailed command as below:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint
    XXXXX876C45D19BA885E9FA96C48DD0C7DCXXXXX | Enable-ExchangeCertificate
    -Services "IIS,SMTP"
If it is expired, I suggest re-create a new one. Detailed command as below:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint
    XXXXX876C45D19BA885E9FA96C48DD0C7DCXXXXX | New-ExchangeCertificate
    -Services "IIS,SMTP,IMAP,POP"
Please note, the Thumbprint in the example above in the result of running Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
    command.
Since SBS is different from Exchange server, I also suggest ask SBS Forum to double confirm this issue so that you can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=smallbusinessserver
Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.

These 6 errors repeat over and over every few hours until server shuts down.
From trying to research this most posts reference server 2008, or old kb articles which are not related to 2012 or suggesting I have other domain controllers. I don't just this server which for all intents and purposes works correctly and as intended apart
    from the shutdown.
As i understand it essentials includes 25 licenses we currently only have 14 users. Actually whilst we are on that subject, I was looking at what we do when we hit 25, Im reading that we have to buy Server 2012 standard and do in place license change, and
then we have to buy cals. So does this mean we have to then buy 25cals to keep current users and then buy more on top? or does the upgrade from essentials include 25 licenses when you switch? MS's documentation is anything but clear.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I too have a server that shuts down monthly due to the Server Infrastructure Licensing check erroneously failing.

I've verified that this server holds the fsmo roles, and that DNS is properly configured. It's the only server in a three workstation environment. They have 800GB of free space. I basically have the identical problem as the poster. It's bothering me that when

  • SQL 2008 R2 small business server OS edition check fails on SBS 2011 premium install on SBS member server.

I am having trouble installing SQL 2008 Small Business Edition on top of MS 2008 std from the SBS premium suite. I recieve the SQL Server 2008 R2 setup log error stateing "Operating system supported for edition "Failed". The specific error is "EditionRequirementCheck
Failed" This SQL server edition is not supported on this operating system.
The SQL 2008 server is a valid SBS domain member server and sees the SBS domain just fine. I have tried re-installing the OS. Not selecting any options except the SQL engine, verbose logging as per How to diagnose "Operating system supported for edition"
pre-requisite errors while installing SQL 2008 Standard Edition for Small Business with no success. (no log.txt generated), enabled browsing, and other items with no luck.
I got the software from MVLS under the specific SBS 2011 premium section. It doesnt seem right or sees something to keep it from installing. The SBS AD box is clean with all FSMO and root functions assigned to it. There are no trust relationships or
child domains. I have licenses for 75 users. Of course there is no tool, log or utility to find what the actual issue the SQL installation is seeing. SOS! Help!!!

I meet all prerequisites that can be verified.
I am installing it on the SBS Premium Server 2008 R2 OS from MVLS with the ISO file ending in 29732.
I am on a valid SBS 2011 domain.
The new SQL box is joined to the domain as a member server.
THe SBS server contains alll FSMO roles and is the root of the AD.
There are no trust relationships or child domains.
There is NO way that I can find to determine the number of user and device licenses that it "senses" on the domain. I dont know which ones to count. I am licensed for 75 users and have less than that useing the network. There is no licensing monitor or meathod
I can find to actually verify what the SQL install sees.
I am doing all this logged in as the domain admin.
The troubleshooting steps at the bottom of the post refrenced do not work or I am doing them wrong. I cannot find an output file when I enable verbose logging for the SQL install. I believe if I figure out how it may point the way to the block. Thanks

  • SBS 2011 Standard SP1 - Randomly rebooting after svchost crash

Last week 10/22, my SBS 2011 server began restarting randomly anywhere from every 2 hours to as long as every 4 hours. In reviewing the logs, it appears that an svchost process crashes (in Application log) which surrounds ntdll.dll and then many services
crash and the System log shows a request by RPC to restart the server.
I have seen similar threads but none of them end up with a solution or viable suggestion.
No changes were made to the server on that day but since this began, I have installed all updates to drivers and the OS but no change.

  • Windows SBS 2011 Standard - Windows Image Backup Failure VSS Erros

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction regarding a SBS backup failure on 2011. It seems i'm currently getting the typical
"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Failed resolving account spsearch with status 1376. Check connection to domain controller and VssAccessControl registry key.
    Operation:
       Gather writers' status
       Executing Asynchronous Operation
    Context:
       Current State: GatherWriterStatus
    Error-specific details:
Error: NetLocalGroupGetMemebers(spsearch), 0x80070560, The specified local group does not exist."
But i have gone through many different pages regard's to fix's and nothing of the sort has resolved my issue yet. I get an error in the application logs informing me:
The backup operation that started at '‎' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '2155348129'. Please review the event details for a solution, and
then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.
I have made the change in which to change the reg entry's for the spfarm and spsearch are set to "0" and added the vssregistrygroup group with entry of 1.
I have drawn up a list of VSSadmin List Writers and the system writer is showing the following.
    Writer name: 'System Writer'
      Writer ID: {e8132975-6f93-4464-a53e-1050253ae220}
      Writer Instance ID: {b3d9ec72-b1a7-4557-b3b5-dafe1f97b8f2}
      State: [5] Waiting for completion
      Last Error: No Error
I can see the SQL server writer is showing Failed and Non-retryable error? i have rebooted the server twice now after making changes but nothing seems to be working? anyone with any ideas? if you need more information then please let me know! kinda getting
    stuck for ideas.
    Regards
    Mike

    Thanks for the reply Justin
I have gone through our list and i can confirm the following.
did you install any third-party backup utility
on the SBS 2011? Or just use Windows Server Backup?
Its just windows server backup, not 3rd party backup software installed on the server.
Did you mean that set Data of spfarm and spsearch to
    0 via following path?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\VssAccessControl
    <Domain>\
    spfarm = dword: 0x00000001(1)
    <Domain>\
    spsearch = dword: 0x00000001(1)
Yes this is correct the both have been set to "0" while <domain>\VSSRegistryGroup and NT Authority\NetworkService both have Dword value of "1"
Did you right click on VSSAccessControl, select “Permissions…”, then add backup account and give it Full Control? Meanwhile, please check if
Administrators group is owner of this key.
In response to this, i have Administrators as the owner of the folder, but when you mean "add backup account" which specific account are you referring to?
Did you set the Startup type as Automatic and restart the service? Any find?
Yep this service is set to Automatic but every time i try and start it, it comes up with:
the sharepoint 2010 vss writer service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically
if they are not in use by other services or programs.
    Any feedback would be great.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • Installing Windows Server Essentials Experience in SBS 2011 Environment

Scenario: I currently have an SBS 2011 environment with two sites. The business has rapidly grown since I first installed the SBS at the main site. I have setup a new office with a separate AD site. At secondary office I have a DC and a file server (all
bound to the same domain as the SBS).
My question is, can I setup the file server with Windows Server Essentials experience without it messing up the SBS schema? I know the WSEE is supported on an existing single domain environment but not sure if it will mess up anything on the SBS AD environment
since we are using the builtin exchange.
    regards,
    LJAC

    Hi,
My goal isn't to have an SBS server in one site and an Essentials server in the other. I have an SBS at the main site and a Windows Server 2012 R2 'Standard' in the other acting as a DC to the same domain as the SBS. My goal is to use the Anywhere Access feature
at the site with the 2012 R2 server by installing the Essentials experience role. Both sites will be on the same domain and only users at the 2012 site will be using the Anywhere Access feature.
Eventually I'll be migrating the SBS to 2012 R2 server and Exchange 2013 but thats way down the line.
    Thank you for your response!

  • Failure to verify licensing error when attemtping to install Portraiture

Using Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 and trying to install Imagenomic's Portraiture & Noiseware add-ons.  Both show as installed when viewing my adobe add-ons page, but neither are showing up under filters in the program itself.  When trying to install through the extension manager, I get the error "This extension cannot be installed because licensing verification failed."
    Can anyone help?  Thanks!

    Hi Peter,
Uninstalling PS CS6 shouldn't make any difference to this problem so I wouldn't feel the need to do that.
Could you please email me the email address you're logged in as in the Creative Cloud desktop app? (my email address is [email protected])
If you could also please generate an Extension Manager log file and send it to me, that would be a big help.
    1. Create a file named ExManCoreLibLog.YES. Only the file name is important. The contents of the file don't matter.
    2. Copy this file to "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log". If this folder doesn't exist, you can create it.
    3. Launch Extension Manager CC.
    4. Repeat your usual steps until you see the license error
    5. Find the log file in "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log"
Also, can you tell me whether you have any third party firewall software running that may be blocking connections to the licensing server?
Thanks for your patience with this.
    Best wishes,
    Fraser

  • Licensing Error 6 After Clean Installing Mac OS 10.8.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that I forgot to back up the Photoshop Elements Library and Application Support files...I can't find any of the stuff they reference in the Licensing Error 6 Troubleshooting guide.
Is there way I can reinstall the application without having to buy it again? Do I need to give Adobe some information or something?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Okay, that never works. PSE isn't a tidy package like most mac apps. The installer strews stuff all over your hard drive like buckshot, most of it in places outside where apple says programs should install things. You will need to download and run this:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Then manually delete all the bits you can find. Don't just check applications, but also hard drive>library>application support, and your username>library>preferences. (Let me know if you don't know how to find these.)
You will need to do a complete install. If you are talking about PSE 10 (which version is this, by the way?), you can download the trial and enter your serial number into that.

  • SBS 2008 - Server Infrastructure Licensing - event id 4 and 38

    Hi everybody,
I have these errors in Event Viewer
The Additional Server Count Check in the Licensing component did not pass because error 0x8007200a occurred in function f1031 [WLTT].   The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist.
Make sure that your DNS server can be contacted and the following services are running: Active Directory Domain Services (NTDS), DNS Server (DNS), Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC). This server will be automatically shut down if the issue is not corrected

The Additional Server Count Check detected a condition in your environment that is out of compliance with the licensing policy. This server will be automatically shut down if the issue is not corrected in 58 day(s) 16 hour(s) 30 minute(s). Please look for additional
events for Additional Server Count Check to troubleshoot.
BEFORE these events we have 3 informational events:
    Domain Controller Check passed.
    Forest Trust Check passed.
    FSMO Role Check passed.
We have just ONE server (the SBS 2008, not R2); we had two but the second one (Win2008 Srv) has been dismissed. No reference to the old server is found in AD, registry or other location (DNS, DHCP...). No event about the old server is recorded at all.
This server is also a DNS server; in its network properties it has itself as the DNS server (I mean: its IP, of course)
We have no problem in FMSO roles (checked with  "dcdiag /test:fsmocheck")  and the server is going on regularly (no issues with services, users, ...)
Any idea? I tried to solve this all by myself but with no result at all
    Thanks

  • Error 3 on a 1,2 month old phone?...

IPhone 5 C bought last year expecting to work and use it for a long time, is dead. I got it, things fail but not that soon. Can someone knows how to contact Apple head office in Ontario. Any feedback would be appreciate it.
    what do you think:
should i I raise my concerns to head office
should I just eat the lost and move forward
should i I just lower my expectation on these products and realize that they are not "something from another word, close to perfect and reliable"
let me know, please hardcore fans of Apple, drop a line.
here is a summary of how this came about:
months after buying the phone, a replacement of a bot tong took place.
then, lost of hardware issues, crashing, not able to answere calls, and so on. After IOS 8 update all got a lost worst to the point of phone becoming a brick. Of course, phone was 51 days out of warranty, there fore, I have to pay another 300 + tax to get a replacement phone. Hummmm, in the mean time here am I struggling with my homelessness of getting my fancy Apple phone back.

Have you contacted Apple Support to try to troubleshoot the iPhone?
Have you tried any troubleshooting on your own?
Try this, before you start trying to contact the 'head office', which isn't going to do you any good in the first place.
Read and use this article: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4137
Set up your iPhone as new, and test the issue.  If the issue remains, it's likely hardware-related, and if you are outside of your one-year hardware warranty and opted not to purchase the AppleCare+, then your iPhone 5C will have a $269 USD + tax cost to replace, which is far less than it cost new.  If you had purchased AppleCare+, it would likely be either a free replacement, or if there was some form of damage to the device, you'd be looking at $79 USD + tax for a damage incident.
