Suddenly after syncing...Library organization different on ipod than itunes

Does anyone know how to fix the organization of albums on ipod? I have everything organized as it should be in itunes "Album/by Artist" and everything is in the correct order. Recently upon adding new albums, after syncing, some albums are simply moved to end and no longer in alphabetical order, but only on my ipod. Most still are, but some have moved. Not even the newly added...just random ones. I've tried resyncing. Itunes is organized correct and ipod is not?

Hey there...I eventually found a common thread with all albums that got moved to the end of the alphabetical list on the ipod. Ipod and Itunes must sort with slight differences. All the albums at the end of my list were checked as "part of a compilation". This might be the same problem you are having. Often on a album, if there are any "guest artists" listed with even one song, if they are listed (artist & so and so) with the "artitist" in that sorting field, the album will be listed as a compilation. I haven't found any problems with simply unchecking "part of a compilation". This also moved the albums back to the alphabetical ordering on the ipod. Find a album that may be in the correct spot on iTunes, but not in your ipod...select it...select entire album/all songs...either under file or by right clicking, go to "get info". You will be asked if you want to edit for entire album, select yes. Go to the "options" tab and deselect "part of a compilation" and click "ok". If this was your problem, it should appear in alphabetical order on your ipod after that. Lemme know if it works...Rock on!

You will have to sync your iphone to this computer first, erasing the current content and replacing wioth content from the new computer.
Make sure you have copied everything from the old comptuer to the new one first.

  • Problems syncing photos from iphoto to ipod via itunes

I have been having some difficulty getting my itunes to sync iphoto contents to my ipod. This worked fine for ages, but has just stopped working. I can sync photos from a standalone folder. Following a discussion on the ipod forum (for full details see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1872524&start=0&tstart=0 ) we have established it is something in the iphoto library that is causing the problem. A new library works fine, but switch back and itunes does not recognise it. I am hoping that someone here can help me identify what could be causing the problem.
    Any thoughts welcome.

ps I have also posted this in the iphoto forum, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1876616

Resetting your iPod puts the iPod's software in factor default. It doesn't erase anything. Restoring the iPod erases your iPod's content and puts a fresh copy of the OS on it. Restoring is a more extreme way to solve a problem. Use restore if a reset doesn't work. If a restore doesn't work, then its not likely that a reset would help. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with classes. Cheers mate.

  • How can I recover texts & contacts on iPhone 5c after syncing it with an old iPod touch backup?

I used to have an old LG flip-phone and an iPod Touch. I lost the iPod Touch about six months ago. This week I got my iPhone. I had to go to the Verizon store to have them take all the contacts off the LG phone and put them onto my iPod.
I had painstakingly pared down my iTunes music library to choice selection of checked items that were small enough to fit on the iPod touch. I didn't want to go through that process again, so I hooked my iPhone up to my computer for the first time, opened iTunes, and synced with the iPod touch backup on my computer. It would have been smart to have backed up the iPhone first, but I didn't. Since I couldn't text with the iPod Touch, it didn't occur to me that the existing texts on my iPhone would be overwritten.
Now all the media files and apps from my old iPod Touch are on my new iPhone 5. The new iPhone apps I downloaded yesterday are on there, too. But the contacts and texts have vanished.
To review: no iTunes backup of iPhone data. No iCloud backup, either-- I've never used iCloud before.
I downloaded Wondershare's iPhone Data Recovery program and used it to scan data on the device. The scan shows 0 contacts and only the 2 text messages that I've received this evening. Curiously, it does have my entire call history from the last week.
So is there any way to recover the texts from this last week?
This seems pretty hopeless but I thought I'd try. Thank for your help.

You are correct. There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.

  • Sync library from my broken ipod to new ipod.

My ipod broke and I want to use my moms. I want my library on my computer on her old ipod. However itunes won't let me sync. I dont care about saving the songs on her iPod just how to get mine on hers. Her ipods model is MD480L

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. Thus,

  • Sync 2 Iphone and 1 ipod on itunes

    I curently own 2 iphones and 1 Ipod;
    My question is:
how can i sync each individual unit without loosing the content every time using the itunes software?
i know on Windows, you  hold down shift key as itunes loads up and you can choose from different libraries but how can i do it using Mac OX 10.5.4?
    Thanks.

Holding the Option key lets you start iTunes with a different library. Do you really need to do this to sync different devices? I know I have 2 iPods and I can sync each one and iTunes knows that each device is different. Event the image that comes up in iTunes looks different (one is a blue mini, the other the old white one). Now, I don't have an iPhone yet, so I don't know if that works like an iPod. Maybe with an iPhone you need a different library to sync it.

  • ITunes renaming 'Favourites' playlist to 'Favourites1' after sync? + 2 iPhone's on 1 iTunes?

    Good Morning,
    2 questions here ...
    1) I created a Playlist on my iPhone called 'Favourites' comprising of, wait for it ... my favourites! But yet when I then sync to iTunes it splits the Playlist into two on my iPhone - ones is titled as I made it 'Favourites' and then there is another one called 'Favouries 1'.
All of the tunes I originally selected on the device are now split between the two playlists so what I have been doing is deleting both after the sync and then having to manually re-add the Playlist on the device but I'm getting a little bored of this - any advice?!?
    2) My GF is expecting her 4S today - we have one laptop, and of course 1 iTunes. I dont want to set two different user areas on it really, and am hoping we can share the 1 iTunes just with two difefrent Apple ID's.
What are peoples thoughts on this?
We will have different contacts/music etc so I'm hoping that the two ID's will be enough.
    Thanks in advance,
    Giles.

The backup for each iPhone should be different, but having a different name for each iPhone ensures this. Go to iTunes > Preferences. Under the Devices tab you can view the backup for each device. You can delete the backup for each device from there also.
The backup for an iPhone stores data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos in the camera roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.
The operating system is included with the firmware update that is downloaded when you choose to download a firmware update when notified a firmware update is available for your iPhone. When restoring an iPhone with iTunes, the iPhone is completely erased followed by re-installing the current firmware version from the firmware download that remains on your computer.

  • Why is sorting "song" order different on iPod than in iTunes?

I have a podcast of the Economist and have created a smart playlist in order to allow the podcasts to show up in my playlists and to disappear from my iPod after listening to them and then syncing.
However, the ordering of the playlist on my iPod does not match the ordering in iTunes. Why is this? Also, when I look at the playlist in iTunes under the iPod in the Devices area it does not show any episodes in the playlist.
This seems like a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Can someone point me to a forum somewhere where I can get help with this? I'm obviously posting to the wrong place. Thanks!

  • Sync Photos in Aperture to IPod using iTunes

My photo IPod is sync'd to my primary Aperture(1.5) library. That function worked well. You can have multiple libraries in Aperture, one of them is the primary library and I have another one on my laptop. You set the library location under preferences and then close and restart Aperture. I originally sync'd the primary library to the iPod. Now I want to change the library and sync the laptop library with the iPod. I can't find where I can tell iTunes (7.3.1) to change libraries.

Well, that was an interesting idea, Colin, but it didn't work. I opened iTunes, and then dragged the Aperture repository into it. It seemed to acknowledge it (when I dragged it onto iTunes, the "dragging" icon wasn't x'ed out), but it didn't add anything to the library.
If you try to do an "Add to Library" from iTunes, and then navigate to the Aperture repository, the repository folder is grayed out. It can't be selected. Same for a backup Vault created from Aperture.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's always worth experimenting. (Assuming everything is backed up. )

  • Possible to sync photos from Aperture to iPod via iTunes?

When I used iPhoto, I set iTunes to sync photos from the iTunes Library with my iPod. Now that I use Aperture, there is no equivalent option to have iTunes look at the original photos in Aperture and copy them to the iPod so I can view them.
I can copy a Vault from Aperture to the iPod, but that's like copying any other data file -- it is stored, but photos cannot be viewed.

  • How do I manage radio stations in a different playlist other than itunes's main library?

First of all, I don't remember having this problem before. Second, for being apple's flagship software product, it's still really really buggy, but I digress.
In anycase I have some radio stations that I want to put into a play list on itunes. The problem is that they show up in my main music library as well, this is an issue when I just want to listen to my playlist and they pop up. I want my radio stations to be contained differently from my main music stash. As I said earilier, I don't remember this being like this before. Pretty much, ever since apple change the iTunes icon, I've been less and less thrilled about the changes being made to itunes.
    Sincerly,
(Someone who is Grumbling about how itunes doesn't handle album art very well, and gets annoyed when itunes inadvertanly delete's it.)

This question is no longer relevant. I now have a wonderful MacBook Pro and am happy using iTunes

  • Song Count vastly different on iPod and iTunes

My 5g 30GB ipod does not seem to be bringing over all the songs in my iTunes.
My settings are to synch all files automatically.
My iTunes shows 3844 Songs using 18.41GB of space.
My iPod shows 2346 songs using 11.65GB of space.
    Things I have checked already:
    1) I do not have 1500+ songs that I am not authorized to play
    2) These are not pdf booklets, etc in iTunes that won't xfer over
    3) My mail library in iTunes shows only 250 duplicate songs, not enough to make up the huge difference.
Any help given would be much appreciated!

You are welcome. Ya I sort of hate suggesting a restore to people because it you have a lot of stuff on it, it takes a long time to get that many gigs back onto the iPod. But in many cases, that is what you need to do to clear up weird things like this.
Glad to hear your iPod is working normally again. I feel even worse when I suggest a restore, they spend an hour plus doing that only to have that NOT fix the problem.

besides the type of file, as mentioned in the other post, you also have to watch out for the pixel size (height/width).

  • Sync my dvd's to IPod with ITunes

I have The Matrix dvd  and want to put it on my Ipod Classic so far i haven't been able to do it.  How do i complete this task?

It is considered illegal to circumvent the DRM (copy protection) used by commercial movie DVDs, to convert them to a purely digital format.  iTunes does not have this capability.  Because it is considered illegal, the topic of how to do it is not appropriate for the user forum that Apple owns and operates.
