don't know how this happened. was playing with gradients somewhere, found this lovely lavender. thought i was just changing it on one filter one place one time for one layer. but now, every time and with every document i open/reopen, when i try to put a filter like bas relief or reticulation on an image---it's lavender! how can i undo this?

So you've also learned that the foreground background colours in your tool pallet are responsible for the forced colours in sketch filters like bas relief and reticulation. ;)

We can't know. You have not provided any relevant technical info about your system, image modes, image types, the workspace/ menu set and so on. Yeah, it's some Mac, but then what?

When the newest update to 24.3.0 was installed, I received duplicate messages and all of my message filters are not working properly. How to fix easily?

24.3.0 caused errors in my message filters. Error messages occur when getting new mail that has a filter. Not sure why this happened, but would like an easy fix instead of deleting all and creating new filters. Tried edit option, but to no avail. Was going to try clearing log, but I'm just guessing. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

I have run every version from 2 to 30 and the message filters have not been an issue in any of them. Perhaps if you restart from the help menu (Alt+H) > restart with add-ons disabled and see if an add-on is causing your issue.

Suddenly all my OS X accounts are gone...

I recently installed boot camp. everything was working fine, until yesterday I went into the Accounts pane of System Preferences and it showed up completely blank. Strange....
Today I rebooted for the first time since that incident, and it takes a long time going through "Starting Mac OS X..." before it asks for a username and password -- something it doesn't usually do. It doesn't accept my username and password.
I booted from the install CD to reset the password, and it is showing that there are no user accounts on my computer -- not even root!
Anyone have any ideas? I think changing some permissions might fix the problem, but I don't know the files OS X looks at to get user account information.

Tried that -- also tried repairing the disk -- no luck. Disk Warrior and those programs aren't working with the Intel machines yet, are they?

All of my Outgoing Servers are Offline in Apple Mail

I'm using a Macbook Pro running 10.8.4. I've been using Apple Mail with four separate GMAIL accounts and haven't really had any issues until today. Suddenly, all four outgoing servers (SMTP) are offline. The incoming servers are fine. When I run the mail connection doctor, all the SMTP accounts say:
"Could not connect to the SMTP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct inforation in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselct the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advance tab of Account preferences."
Thinking this was a strange message (since nothing has changed on my accounts since yesterday), I attemped unchecking the SSL checkbox to no avail. I also went through and re-entered my gmail settings. Also, the fact that ALL FOUR of my accounts are offline is rather suspicious. I've done a bit of googling, and tried changing the default ports with no success there as well. Anybody have any suggestions?

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac" maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well. I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours, I dont know.......

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Cookies' and the 'Site Preferences'.
Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

I was very worried losing all my medical stuff on my iPad Air 2, plus i have nothing to use for the next day! So i have to try all the possible things i read on the internet!! And this worked on my part (Thank God, and thank you Google)
Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

If you were not syncing and backing up your phone to either iTunes or iCloud, then they are gone. There is no "undo".

Go settings, and in the app for facebook you can uncheck the contacts sync. Same for email, go to mail in settings, and go into the address you dont want to sync. Unsync.
