Suddenly can't open files says need newer version

I was using muse fine this morning.. then just about 30 minutes later went to open same file and get message saying needs newer version and please update to newest version.  I have the latest and even uninstalled/reinstalled and let update to below
v3.2 Build 2 Cl 772925
and still get same message.  Again, I was just working on the exact same file this am.  Weird thing is I can create a new site, just won't let me work on the exact same file I was working on earlier today.
Ideas?

Hello,
Could you please provide us your .muse file so that we can have try to open it at our end and check for the issues?
Please email it to [email protected] If your file is greater than 20mb you can use something like Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile.
Please do not forget to mention link to this forum in your e-mail so that we can identify the file.

Sachin

  • Numbers -installed new version, now can't open files saved in new version - ???

I said yes to upgrading a file to newer version, and now it says I need newer version to open that file. When I go to apps, it says the new version has already been installed. Any suggestions?

    Hi cretzlaff,
If you check About Numbers (first items in the Numbers menu) when it fails to open a documents, I suspect you will find that it is Numbers 2.3 that is attempting to open the file.
The instaler for the new version creates a new folder, names it iWork 09, places it in the Applications folder, and moves the existing iWork '09 applications into that folder. It does NOT delete them from your machine (and you should consider carefully before taking that step yourself).
The new versions are then installed directly into the Applications Folder.
    Suggested actions:
In Finder, open the Applications folder, locate Numbers.
Select the icon for Numbers and drag it to the Dock to install an alias to the new version there.
Note the differences between the icons for Numbers '09 and the new Numbers (one more bar, and different colours).
(Repeat with Pages and Keynote, it you have also installed the new versions of those.)
The new version of Numbers has several significant improvements, particularly in regard to compatibility with Numbers for iOS and Numbers for iCloud, but it has also lost several useful features that were present in the earlier version.
You may want to keep both available, at least for now, and use whichever version has the features you need for a particular job.
You can specify which version is to open a document by:
right-clicking on its icon then choosing Open with > and the application you want to use
dragging the document's icon to the Docked icon of the Numbers version you want to use and dropping it there.
launching the application version and opening the document from the File > Open menu path
Note that once opened by and saved from Numbers 3, a document cannot be opened by Numbers '09 unless it is exported from Numbers 3 in Numbers '09 format.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Can't open file saved in newer version

I opened one file that said it was created using a newer version than the one I am running (10) and it worked fine.  I've got another one, though that says it can't open it and suggests that I re-save it so that it can be opened by my version of AI.  Since I only have my version and it won't open, I can't re-save it.  Are there any services that will open and re-save a file for me?  Or any volunteers?
    Thessaly

All this re-saving is way too complicated. If this file was saved with PDF-compatibility you can simply create a new Illy-file and place the file you cannot open. By converting it htrough Acrobat or Preview you won't do anything different: use the embedded PDF part.

  • "Can't open file, saved in newer version" error

I saved a document on my computer earlier today. It was an InDesign document. Now, trying to re-open that document it says it can't because it was saved in a newer version. How can that be? I'm sitting at the same computer, from a few hours ago and I only have CC and there are no updates available. Please walk me through how to fix this, please. Thank you.

You must have more than one version installed, though only one may be showing in the Dock if you use a Mac. CC now covers three versions, CS6 (8.x), CC (9.x) and CC2014 (10.x).

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

  • Numbers can't open file says index.xmlfile missing

Was working on my files this morning. Now I cannot open them it says the documents are invalid and that the index.xml file is missing. I need to retrieve these documents.

    Hi segars,
    Adding to Sparkleberry's reply,
Wayne Contello has written a User Tip for working with the old and new versions of iWork.
Need newer version of Numbers to open file
The trick is to drag icons for both versions to your Dock. Right click or control click on each and Options > Keep in Dock. That puts you in charge of which version you launch.
Here is a screen shot of both Numbers icons on my Dock.
Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) on the left with a three column graph.
Numbers 3.5.2 on the right with a four column graph.
Both versions will run happily together. Just be sure which version is opening your document.
Instead of double clicking the document, run whichever version of Numbers/Pages/Keynote suits and use File > Open.

    Ian.

  • I just upgraded to Numbers 3.0 but can´t open files of Numbers 9 version, help...!!!!!!

I just upgraded to Numbers 3.0 but can´t open files of Numbers 9, help...!!!!!!
Can someone please help me, because those files in Numbers 9 version, are for my work and now I can´t open them

    Hi rabg,
I am using OS X 10.8 on a Mac. This may be different if you are using iOS.
Does Numbers'09 still exist in your Applications folder? Maybe inside a new folder? Perhaps you could use Numbers'09 to open your documents.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Suddenly can't open file

I have only ever had one version of InDesign on my computer, version CS5.5. Last month I worked on a file with no problem, then today I just went to revise it and I suddenly get the message "Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign (CS 6.0). There is no way this could have happened because the file has not budged from my computer since I worked on it and I certainly have no more recent version of ID. Even the file info says the file is in CS 5.5 format. What can I do?

Thanks for your reply. I am the only person using this computer (it's a personal laptop) and I can assure you that nobody else has looked at this file. However, I'd much appreciate someone opening it and re-saving it as CS 5.5 (even though the file itself says the file is in version CS 5.5). But how or where where can I link the file? It appears I can't attach the file to my post here.

  • Can't open files or create new files in photoshop CS6

    Urgent!
Since I updated photoshop, when I click New or Open File photoshop behaves like I didn't click anything.
But otherwise reacts to anything else I click on.
    What is wrong?

Without system info or other details we can't tell you anything. Most likely this is a permissions issue where PS cannot access the templates for new documents or other configuration data nor may it be able to create its swap files. Look into that and verify your file permission as well as turn off security tools that may block this stuff. also run as admin to test.

  • All software up to date, but telling me I cannot open files edited in 'newer version' help!

I'm a Graphic design student, so work between my Mac at home and one in Class. I've now gone to open files last edited in class, and am receiving an error message to say this was saved with a newer version (CC 10.1), however my Creative Cloud at home has no pending updates- how can I fix this? Your help would be hugely appreciated!

    Hi Whitneyd
Here is a helpful link that explains how to save back to earlier versions of the file
Can You Open/Use/Export/Save Adobe CC Files on CS6 – and Back? | ProDesignTools
For example: If you are using Indesign, you can save your file as .IDML files.

  • Can't open itunes created by newer version error

hi can anyone help with this error - can't open itunes as it was created by a newer version

You must have more than one version installed, though only one may be showing in the Dock if you use a Mac. CC now covers three versions, CS6 (8.x), CC (9.x) and CC2014 (10.x).

  • 9.2 won't install on my computer - doesn't apply it says.  How can I open files that need this install?

But when I try to install - I get this error...

Someone with InDesign 10 CC 2014 might export it to a IDML (down saving is not possible). But expect loss of content based on new features or other changes in the document. Tell your colleague he or she should package the file and include IDML and PDF. IDML for you to work on and a PDF to compare changes which might happen on your computer. In the package dialogue is now an option (or 2) to include these file types.

  • All of a sudden - can't open files

Running Adobe Reader 10.1.2 (current rev) on Win 7 (latest release)
Had been working fine. Now on some files (but not all) I get this error:
"there was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
    Two comments:
    (1) I uninstalled Adobe Reader, then rebooted, then reinstalled Adobe Reader from a fresh download. I still get the same error.
    (2) I am able to open the same pdf files that don't open on this computer on another computer. So it must be this installation on this computer.
Since I've already uninstalled, not sure where to go from here...  Is there a mis-set configuration option in Reader causing this for only some files?
    Thanks anyone for ideas...

I had the same issue with a file that we had on our corporate network drive.
After an hour of research plus trial+error, I had to download and purchase the Full copy of this program: kernel for PDF Repair
    http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/pdf-repair-tool.html
It was an emergency for me, hence, the purchase of the tool but it worked and I was able to repair the file and open it with no more error messages.
Second issue I encountered with the same file after I repaired it: I was unable to print it.  The doc gave me an error every time I tried to print it.
I had to download foxit (pdf reader) and print it using that program.

  • Help! can't open old projects in new version !

    Hi, I'm new here.
I have a major problem since I upgraded from panther to leopard and installed I-life 08
the version of garage band I had prior to upgrade was VERY old, 1.0 or 1.1 I think !
I stored all the songs from the old garageband (29 of them) on a memory stick, and then upgraded. I tried to open the songs in the new garageband, and only five or so were converted to the new format, the rest won't open at all.
this is a real problem as I don't want to recreate 9 months work !
any help at all would be gratefully appreciated as I'm at my wits end!
    thanks..

    Anyone ? !!!!

  • My ipod can't open after updated the new version

i tried to press and hold button at the same time but it still doesnt work.i cant restore it

    - Transfer iTunes purchases tot he "new" computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Make a backup of your iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
An iPod canonly sync to one iTunes library.  What ever you did to the computer the iPod is seeing the the computer/iTunes library as a new library.
