Firefox crashes every few minutes, I can barely even get this question filled out. Please help me! It doesn't matter what site I'm on, and I've tried restarting the computer and modem, no luck.

  • Firefox crashes every few minutes. Reinstall, format, memtest ok, disk ok. No changes.

My PC was working ok, but I decided to format it because it was time.
I did it, and when I was using the recently installed firefox, it crashes. And did it again few minutes later, and again, and so on.
Tried in deactivating Add-ons, deactivating Sync, reseting Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, format again, installing an updated windows 7, but it keeps doing it.
Run memtest all night, all perfect. Hard drive perfect too.
I don't know what to do now, so I follow the steps here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help
and now I'm asking you about it.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • I have uninstalled Flash, and tried many different suggestions, but Firefox still crashes every few minutes. WHY? Check crash reports for najibul.huq@

There are hundreds of Crash reports with my email address on it. I don't know what is causing it. There is no indication and help anywhere that has indicated it. Flash seemed to be problematic, so I tried uninstalling flash completely and using WITHOUT flash - still the same.
I have uninstalled FF and re-installed it with new file from getfirefox.com - still the exact same.
Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? Please review my crash reports under my email address, and advise what I can do. My last few crash IDs:

    bp-36b4a26c-5117-4dbd-8401-f161b2130427
All within 2-3 minutes of each other.
I'm going crazy with this. How can I get the Old firefox that worked. I think anything after v12-13 is complete load of crap that doesn't work!
I am using Windows XP, is that a reason? How can I get a Xp-friendly version of FF?

    Thank you for the response.
I restarted in Safe Mode, but it crashed again in 2 minutes. Can you decipher the Crash report? Because I don't understand anything from it. No way to figure what is exactly causing it.... The Troubleshoot did not help at all, very basic, and irrelevant info. I have hundreds of crash reports, but here's the latest ones, PLease Help:

  • Firefox keeps crashing every few minutes. I have installed the beta version as previously suggested but it still occurs

I have tried uninstalling/installing several times with no success

    Hi hbradders
Your crash report shows a problem with the Flash plugin.
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting

  • Firefox keeps crashing every few minutes. I will paste a small section of the crash reports in the details section.

hello, unfortunately this seems to be a crash that is appearing in firefox 19 on windows 8 with AMD Radeon HD 6XXX/7XXX graphics cards - developers are investigating the causes of it...
the best option probably is to downgrade to the to the former version at the moment until this gets sorted out: [[Install an older version of Firefox]]
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/18.0.2/win32/
the auto-update in firefox 18 for the affected systems is now disabled and will be turned back on when a fix is available.

  • Firefox kept crashing every few minutes

Hello, this is on a newly installed Windows XP Media Center 2002 SP3. It has been kept crashing and the error seemed to have pointed to Geforce 7300 LE, correct me if I'm wrong.
Geforce driver is the latest one.
Here is a couple of crashes report:
    bp-0870ca3e-d31f-4a62-9416-dd9842140909 09/09/2014 14:47
    bp-63774cd8-cfdd-489f-9006-da5362140909 09/09/2014 14:44
Disabling both hardware accelation in Options and about:config didn't help at all. What can I do?
    Regards

Ok I haven't started the safe mode just yet but it may have to do with the Flash plugin. Firefox has the only one plugin installed which is Flash, nothing else because this is a newly installed XP SP3.
Firefox crashed and then a plugin container warning window comes up like that:
plugin-container.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    AppName: plugin-container.exe AppVer: 32.0.0.5350 ModName: mozalloc.dll
    ModVer: 32.0.0.5350 Offset: 0000141b
    Goes with this: bp-4082a9b4-c4a2-4925-a792-a0ceb2140910 10/09/2014 12:45
Does this give you any clue?
    Regards

  • Firefox suddenly started crashing every few minutes

I've been using FF for a long time on this PC. Suddenly its started crashing every few minutes, its the Windows "Firefox has stopped working" crash, so doesn't record on Firefox's about:crashes. If FF is left running in the background, it dies after a few minutes - I don't even need to be using it.
The window event details are ..
Faulting application name: firefox.exe, version: 5.0.0.4183, time stamp: 0x4df95302

I use Portable Firefox and I have both 4.0 and 5.0 installations, and both show the same symptoms. I downloaded a completely clean 5.0 and also a 3.6.18, and both show the same fault.
Any ideas? Windows is clearly killing Firefox, it doesn't appear to be an add-on or plugin that's the issue.

I've just tried Aurora, and it seems to work. I've been using it now for just about a whole day's work without a crash. I briefly swapped back to 5.0 to check that my PC hadn't magically fixed itself, but no .. 5.0 only lasted a couple of minutes before dying.
It's not properly supported as a Portable APP but there's a way to bodge it together.

  • Firefox crashes every few minutes for about 15 - 20 times and then crashes less often.

I have been using Firefox for several years with no problems. I have had my current laptop for 1 and a half years and have had no problems until about 2 months ago. Now Firefox crashes after only a few seconds several times (maybe 15-20 times) and then the interval between crashes tends to increase. I googled for help, and nothing has worked. I am still using Firefox 3.6.24 because when I upgrade to the latest version Firefox freezes while it is loading and it locks up my PC. At least with Firefox 3.6.24, I can get around to using it, although it is very frustrating wiwth all the crashes.
This is the link to the latest crash report submitted:

While I have your attention, is there any way I can get Firefox to stop asking me if I want to update my version. I am getting sick and tired of having to say 'NO' (for the reasons above).

    OK,
I uninstalled Firefox and Adobe Flash Player. Then I installed version 3.6.28 of Firefox and version 10.3.183.20 of the Flash player as instructed in cor-el's post.
Result: Same problems -- Firefox continued to crash every few minutes.
So... I tried Tylerdowner's suggestions. I already had the latest driver version for my graphics card. Back in June, I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox which then was 13.0.1. It was the latest version available when the crashing problem started on my laptop. This version caused my laptop to freeze.
So today, I went to the website and downloaded the more recent version 14.0.1, and it appears to be working great. I have gone for more than an hour without a crash. I hope the good performance continues.
    Thanks for the help.

There is a problem on Windows 8 with Firefox 19 and AMD Radeon HD 6XXX/7XXX graphic display cards.
This issue is currently being investigated in bug 830531.
*Bug 830531 - [Win8] crash in XPC_WN_Helper_NewResolve mainly with AMD Radeon HD 6290/6310/6320/7290/7310/7340
If you have one of those display cards then best is to stay with or downgrade to Firefox 18.0.2 for now.
