  • Just bought a new iPhone and I can't back up to iCloud.

    Just bought a new iPhone and I can't back up to iCloud. The error message says "Not enough storage". When I go to Settings>iCloud, it gives me 2 devices, my old iphone 4s has 3.5GB, the new 4s has 0KB. When I go to delete the old backup the warning says "Do you want to turn off backup and delete all backup data from iCloud?" That is definitely not what I want to do. How do I keep my data from my old phone? All I am backing up are contacts and calendar, my photos have never been backed up on iCloud. Don't get why that is taking up all the storage.

    Deleting the backup from your old phone only permanently deletes the backup from iCloud.  It doesn't do anything to the data on your phone, or the iCloud data your are syncing with iCloud.  If you no longer need the backup of your other phone you can go ahead and delete it to free up space in your iCloud account.

    Either remember your backup password, or you don't.

  • TS3992 I can't back up to icloud on my iphone. I have 25 GB of icloud backup storage, but it won't give me access to backup to it. How do you fix. My phone is almost full.

    I can't back up to icloud on my iphone. I have 25 GB of icloud backup storage, but it won't give me access to backup to it. How do you fix. My phone is almost full. How can I start using the icloud storage?

    If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
    Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

    Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT4847 can I back up my iCloud data to only 1 user on my mac, & not the other users?

    Can I back up my iCloud data to only 1 user on my mac, & not the other users? I have 3 different users on 1 mac, & I don't want all of my icloud info & photos available to all users.

    Each user account on a mac has their own logins for itunes store and for icloud accounts.  Now, all three users can use the same icloud account in their mac account, but that is generally not recommended.  They should each use a different icloud account.  For example, user "me" on mac can set up an icloud account in System Preferences>icloud to, say, [email protected] and user "you", in their mac account can set up icloud using, say, [email protected] in their icloud setting.
    I suspect you don't mean "backup my iCloud data to only 1 user on my mac" since you can't back up icloud to a mac (nor can your backup a mac to icloud).  Do you really mean sync?

  • What I can and can't back up to icloud on my PC

    I'm not sure if this is the right place but thought i'd start here.
    I think, from what I can see from others posts, you can only back up music purchased through itunes to icloud, is this correct?
    Can you back up documents through itunes / icloud?
    I would like to get an ipad, yet my normal computer is a PC laptop.  If I back up to icloud will i only see purchased music and pictures on the ipad? I know you can't plug external devices such as USB's or hard drives into an ipad so is there any other way of getting everything that's on the laptop, visible on the ipad (mainly as I want to stop using the laptop).
    Thanks in advance

  • I can't back up to icloud. Please help

    When I go to manually back up to icloud I get as far as storage/backup it just reverts back to the page with all my apps on. The same happens when I look at usage on my ipad. But on my iphone it shows that my ipad has 4gb free out of 5 for storage and the icloud works fine on my iphone 4. Have done 'reset settings' But made no difference. Help please.

    no believe me it was turn on by default, and i previously tried many times to disable it but it won't allow me, so the button is green but in the same time is untouchable, please check the image, and images are recently taken like the day before my nephew played with the pass-code, so i didn't have the time to back them up.

    I don't think that came out correct. I need my cameral roll photos over 4,000 of them. Of course they are not all in my photo stream (only 1000
    Correct.
    How can I get the other 3,000? Can I save it from iCloud to Scandisk
    No.
    They are not in iCloud (except in your backup). Only the last 1,000 photos are in iCloud Photo Stream.
    The other 3,000 are on your iPhone.
    Copy them from iPhone to wherever.

  • Can't back up to iCloud & I have enough storage

    On my iPhone 5, trying to do a backup to the iCloud.  I've already backed my iPhone up to my iTunes on my laptop, but my iPhone won't back up to the iCloud and I have enough storage, which I just bought (10 GB + the free 5GB = 15 GB of iCloud storage for $20/year).  All it does is freeze at "Estimating time remaining..." then it says "the backup could not be completed" after about 10-15 minutes.
    Here are my storage stats on my phone any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Settings>iCloud>>Storage & Backup>
    Total Storage:  15.0 GB
    Available: 9.9 GB
    >Manage Storage
    Backups = 5.1 GB
    iPhone = 4.9 GB
    iPad = 183.2 MB
    Documents & Data = 334.8 KB
    Mail = 2 MB
    Why won't it back up when I have 9.9 GB of storage available??  My iPad is usually virtually no space....

    This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
    If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • HT4859 Hi Can i back up on iCloud & iTunes on my laptop too ! ie both ?

    Is it possible to back up on both iCloud & iTunes please guys !

    I have switched back and forth between backing up on icloud and pc, but typically leave it on icloud backup. then once in a while, change it to backup using iTunes, then switch it back to icloud. Best of both worlds that way.

  • Can I back up to icloud without using wi-fi as the wi-fi option on my iphone is greyed out and won't turn on

    I have an appointment with Apple store later this week and want to be able to back up my phone to icloud before I go. Can this be done without using wi-fi. If it can, how do I do it?

    Thanks Diesel, I've tried connecting 2 iTunes & selecting backup 2 iCloud but it will only back up to computer.
    I've tried going into settings & restrictions 2 change settings there (as a google search suggested) but I can't remember password so it won't let me in to it. Do u have any other suggestions or any idea what I can do 2 get in restrictions without password?

  • HT4910 I can't back up on icloud

    hi there,
    I just got an iphone 5 and would like to transfer the data and contacts from my iphone 4 to the new phone. However, icloud is not backing up, it starts backing up and then says it was never backed up....any suggestions please? thanks

    Contacts and the other Apple data like calendars, reminders, etc. are not part of a backup.  They are stored on icloud's servers.  All you need to do if you have a new device is to go to Settings>icloud and log into the same account.  All that data will suddenly appear on the device.  A backup stores other data, like camera roll photos, game data, messages, ringtones, and other data.
    Now about a backup...
    If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
    Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
    This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.
