Suddenly, I can't move purchased music to my Nano!!!

I have been using my Nano v1.0 with iTunes 6.02 and updating with no problem. The other day I udpated the Nano to 1.1. For the longest time after that, whenever I attached the Nano, iTunes would crash.
I've since remobved iTunes and reinstalled the earlier version of it, 5.0 and removed the Nano and reinstalled it using the original software, version 1.0 (5.9?).
Now iTunes doesn't crash and I can move my music to the Nano that I have in my library, that I DID NOT buy from iTunes. It will not recognize anything I've purchased from the iTunes site.
In essence, my version of iTunes doesn't recognize my Nano anymore as the match for purchased music.
I've tried everything, installing, upgrading, un installing and downgrading. i took the Nano to the store and it works fine as an orphan with their system.
What do I do??? I am going on vacation and want to take the music I bought.
Please help me.
Thanks,
Dickkalt

I have a similar problem. I have a Windows PC with iTunes and purchased some music from the iTunes store. The music appears and plays on iTunes but, even after synching (and doing a complete iPod restore) it does not appear on my iPod (Touch).
Please help.

Is the music I downloaded from my CD's already in the iCloud or only the music I purchased on itunes?

  • Move purchased music from mac to pc

Hi all, not sure whether to post this under iTunes for Mac or iTunes for PC.
I want to move purchased music from a mac to a pc. I've read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329 and http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/ but I'm still not sure of the best way. I've "authorised" the pc. Some hours of trying to get the mac & pc to connect to one another via lan got nowhere so I'd like to try going via external disk. Do you think I can just copy the iTunes track files to a (fat32) hd then plug that into the pc and somehow copy or import them into iTunes? The pc is brand new afaik w7; the "mac" is actually a bootable (ccc) dump of a mac which isn't working at present, with another mac booted from this. TIA for any advice - Terry.

That's too bad, it's uefull to have file sharing set up between the two. It was kind of a pain for me to set up, but I'm glad I got it going in the end.
I finally stumbled on the Mac setting in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > WINS to set the proper workgroup name.
Do you care about ratings, play counts, etc? If so it is a bit more work.
If not, yes, just put the purchases on the exHD while connected to the PC, then connect the exHD to the Mac and add them to your Mac itunes library.
Make sure the itunes preference > Advanced for "Copy files when adding..." is checked, so they will go to the Mac's hard drive.

  • I am switching jobs, iTunes is on my old computer - can I move my music to a new computer? how?

I've been at my current job for over 8 years. I have iTunes installed on my work computer, and now I am leaving. I have an iPad at home - I think my husband already has his iTunes account set up on that though. I'd like to get access to all the music I've purchased through the years on the iPad or my new work computer - is this even possible?  Please let me know what to do.
    Thanks!

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line on this page to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

I can stream movies and music without taking up space on the AppleTV. I can't seem to figure out how to stream my photo library instead of sync it. Is that possible? Or must I sync the photo library to be able to browse it the AppleTV?

  • Can't download purchased music to video iPod

I can't download purchased music and videos to my new 30GB video iPod.
When I try to copy videos or purchased I get an error "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" and iTunes quits after I close the dialog.
I ran the iPod Updater 2006-01-10 and Restored my iPod. I can download mp3s and a video I created in QT Pro but not purchased music or videos.
I uninstalled all previous iPodSetup installations, iTunes, QuickTime, rebooted and deleted the iTunes prefs file at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info\SC Info.sidb
I reinstalled iPod Updater 2006-01-10 and iTunes 6.0.2 and rebooted.
    The problem remains.

  • Can i move my music to the cloud then delete from my pc?

can i move my music to the cloud then delete from my pc? using icloud.

Note that Cloud/Match is not the same as a backup or archive of your music.  For example, if you have a top quality AIFF file of music and use Match, it will store it as a lesser (but still okay) quality AAC copy.  There's a number of similar reasons for not seeing this as the equivalent of a proper archiving drive but basically Match is designed as a convenience for those who want their music anywhere but are willing to work with the multiple, if minor, discrepancies between it and carrying around a hard drive.
